Accepting Dreams Transformed by Love

…in forgiving dreams is no one asked to be the victim and the sufferer. ⁷These are the happy dreams the miracle exchanges for your own. ⁸It does not ask you make another; only that you see you made the one you would exchange for this.

The miracle establishes you dream a dream, and that its content is not true. ²This is a crucial step in dealing with illusions. ³No one is afraid of them when he perceives he made them up. ⁴The fear was held in place because he did not see that he was author of the dream, and not a figure in the dream. ⁵He gives himself the consequences that he dreams he gave his brother.

This world is full of miracles. ²They stand in shining silence next to every dream of pain and suffering, of sin and guilt. ³They are the dream’s alternative, the choice to be the dreamer, rather than deny the active role in making up the dream. ⁴They are the glad effects of taking back the consequence of sickness to its cause. ⁵The body is released because the mind acknowledges “this is not done to me, but I am doing this.” ⁶And thus the mind is free to make another choice instead. ⁷Beginning here, salvation will proceed to change the course of every step in the descent to separation, until all the steps have been retraced, the ladder gone, and all the dreaming of the world undone. Every moment is an opportunity for a miracle. Each moment that we are willing to take our perceptions to the Holy Spirit for His correction, we open our mind to receive a miracle. He will shine the Light of Love on our perception to reveal that beyond the dream images we made up, there is only the joyous presence of Love.

As we accept His help, we free ourselves from images of fear, hate and guilt. Our dream becomes increasingly happy, peaceful and loving. Today we will accept miracles of dreams transformed by Love.

Letting Love Transform Our Perceptions

The Holy Spirit reaches from the Christ in you to all your dreams, and bids them come to Him, to be translated into truth. ²He will exchange them for the final dream which God appointed as the end of dreams. ³For when forgiveness rests upon the world and peace has come to every Son of God, what could there be to keep things separate, for what remains to see except Christ’s face?

And how long will this holy face be seen, when it is but the symbol that the time for learning now is over, and the goal of the Atonement has been reached at last? ²So therefore let us seek to find Christ’s face and look on nothing else. ³As we behold His glory, will we know we have no need of learning or perception or of time, or anything except the holy Self, the Christ Whom God created as His Son. The Christ in us is our holy Self, God’s one Son. It is our true Identity which is unaffected by dreams of separation where we experience fear and guilt.

The Holy Spirit in our minds calls to us to forgive our dreams and awaken to our Self. We answer His call with our willingness to offer Him our perceptions to let them be translated, through Christ’s vision, into opportunities to express Love. The Christ in us always responds with Love.

Willingness to Accept the Holy Spirit’s Help

The Holy Spirit is not delayed in His teaching by your mistakes. ²He can be held back only by your unwillingness to let them go. ³Let us therefore be determined …to be willing to forgive ourselves for our lapses in diligence…. ⁴This tolerance for weakness will enable us to overlook it, rather than give it power to delay our learning. ⁵If we give it power to do this, we are regarding it as strength, and are confusing strength with weakness.

When you fail to comply with the requirements of this course, you have merely made a mistake. ²This calls for correction, and for nothing else. ³To allow a mistake to continue is to make additional mistakes, based on the first and reinforcing it. ⁴It is this process that must be laid aside, for it is but another way in which you would defend illusions against the truth.

Let all these errors go by recognizing them for what they are. ²They are attempts to keep you unaware you are one Self, united with your Creator, at one with every aspect of creation, and limitless in power and in peace. ³This is the truth, and nothing else is true. ⁴Today we will affirm this truth again, and try to reach the place in you in which there is no doubt that only this is true. The ego is held in place by guilt. Applying the principles the Course provides will lead us to a complete reversal of our belief system to open our mind to accept our unity in God’s Love. This reversal takes practice. We can easily lapse into our old patterns of guilt. This can turn into a double whammy when we feel guilty for our lapse, reinforcing the guilt that we want to let go.

This is when we need to be tolerant of our mistakes. We are not alone in our practice of forgiveness. In fact, we cannot forgive without help. We need only be willing to open our mind to the Holy Spirit’s correction.

As we are willing to accept His help, we learn that what was cause for guilt never had an effect on the truth of what we are. We are united in Love with our Creator and all Creation. And only Love is real. Nothing else exists.

Accepting Our Home in the Eternal Now

What keeps the world in chains but your beliefs? ²And what can save the world except your Self? ³Belief is powerful indeed. ⁴The thoughts you hold are mighty, and illusions are as strong in their effects as is the truth.

Yet is salvation easily achieved, for anyone is free to change his mind, and all his thoughts change with it. ²Now the source of thought has shifted, for to change your mind means you have changed the source of all ideas you think or ever thought or yet will think. ³You free the past from what you thought before. ⁴You free the future from all ancient thoughts of seeking what you do not want to find.

The present now remains the only time. ²Here in the present is the world set free. ³For as you let the past be lifted and release the future from your ancient fears, you find escape and give it to the world.

The world is nothing in itself. ²Your mind must give it meaning. ³And what you behold upon it are your wishes, acted out so you can look on them and think them real.

There is no world apart from what you wish, and herein lies your ultimate release. ²Change but your mind on what you want to see, and all the world must change accordingly. ³Ideas leave not their source. (A Course in Miracles, W-132.1:1-4;2:1–3:3;4:1-3;5:1-3. See also ACIM Lesson 132 Insights.)

We are in control of the world we see. If we want to have a unique and separate identity, we will see a world of differences and conflict. Its seeming reality is a result of what we want to be real.

But we can change our wishes. When we choose to accept our Identity as given us by our Creator, we will see the reality of Love everywhere. Because Love is eternal and changeless, there are no thoughts of past or future. We live in the joy and peace of the present moment. This is our natural habitat.

Because we have so strongly invested in the value of our unique identity, in which we have somethings others do not, we need help to learn that the price for this identity has cost us our true happiness and peace.

The Holy Spirit has been given us to help us see past our mistaken wishes to the presence of Love in which we truly live. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to guide us in the way of Love, for we want to be free of the past, and experience the peace and happiness of the eternal now.

Letting Light Show Us We Live in Love

In order to see, you must recognize that light is within, not without. ²You do not see outside yourself, nor is the equipment for seeing outside you. ³An essential part of this equipment is the light that makes seeing possible. ⁴It is with you always, making vision possible in every circumstance.

…leave behind everything that you now believe, and all the thoughts that you have made up. ⁵Properly speaking, this is the release from hell. ⁶Yet perceived through the ego’s eyes, it is loss of identity and a descent into hell.

If you can stand aside from the ego by ever so little, you will have no difficulty in recognizing that its opposition and its fears are meaningless.

…what is needful is a sense of the importance of what you are doing; its inestimable value to you, and an awareness that you are attempting something very holy. ²Salvation is your happiest accomplishment. ³It is also the only one that has any meaning, because it is the only one that has any real use to you at all.

²Try to think of light, formless and without limit, as you pass by the thoughts of this world. ³And do not forget that they cannot hold you to the world unless you give them the power to do so. (A Course in Miracles, W-44.2;5:4–6:1;8:1-3;10:2-3. See also ACIM Lesson 44 Insights.)

Here is a process that has the potential to return our awareness to the fact that we live in the Love of God. We have accepted a false idea that having an identity we can call our own will bring us happiness. But in truth, our experience has shown that it brought the opposite: fear, guilt, chaos, uncertainty and ultimately death.

This is the world the wish for specialness made up. Only illusions seem to die or suffer. But our true Self dwells in the heart of God, safe and whole.

Today we choose to let the Light of Love illuminate our perceptions. Its Light will reveal the unity we share with every brother in our oneness held in the Love of God.

Stepping Out of the Ego’s Shadow

God’s answer is some form of peace. All pain is healed; all misery replaced with joy. All prison doors are opened. And all sin is understood as merely a mistake.

Father, today we will forgive Your world, and let creation be Your Own. ²We have misunderstood all things. ³But we have not made sinners of the holy Sons of God. ⁴What You created sinless so abides forever and forever. ⁵Such are we. ⁶And we rejoice to learn that we have made mistakes which have no real effects on us. ⁷Sin is impossible, and on this fact forgiveness rests upon a certain base more solid than the shadow world we see. ⁸Help us forgive, for we would be redeemed. ⁹Help us forgive, for we would be at peace.

It is time for us to step out of the shadows of the ego’s thought system. The ego is the denial of the Light, the Love that is all of reality. The effect of its thought system is a world of illusion. Without Light, vision is impossible. Illusions are made up to replace what can be seen in the Light of Love.

The way to step out of the shadows is through forgiveness. As we forgive our mistaken beliefs, Love dawns upon our minds. Peace replaces the chaos of the ego’s illusions. We are grateful for the Help we are given to guide us to forgive and remember the Love we are.

Hearing the Call of Our One Self

‘I am spirit’ identifies you with your one Self. ²It accepts no split identity, nor tries to weave opposing factors into unity. ³It simply states the truth. ⁴Practice this truth today as often as you can, for it will bring your mind from conflict to the quiet fields of peace.

²You are the spirit lovingly endowed with all your Father’s Love and peace and joy. ³You are the spirit which completes Himself, and shares His function as Creator. ⁴He is with you always, as you are with Him.

³He will offer all His strength to every little effort that you make. ⁴Give Him the minutes which He needs today, to help you understand with Him you are the spirit that abides in Him, and that calls through His Voice to every living thing; offers His sight to everyone who asks; replaces error with the simple truth.

²Spirit am I, a holy Son of God, free of all limits, safe and healed and whole, free to forgive, and free to save the world.

Spirit is one, held safely in God’s Love. It shares all of His attributes. To affirm “I am Spirit” is to accept our Identity as God’s Son. As we accept this, we see every brother as part of our one Self. In our unity we share all His Love and peace and joy. This is our Reality. It is the gift our Father gave to us, His Son.

With this as our Identity, we are free to forgive our mistaken belief in being unique and different. The joy of our one Self calls to us to awaken to our Reality and experience the peace of being eternally held in God’s Love.
