Accepting God’s Gift of Universal Love

This is the only thing that you need do for vision, happiness, release from pain and the complete escape from sin, all to be given you. ²Say only this, but mean it with no reservations, for here the power of salvation lies:

³I am responsible for what I see.
⁴I choose the feelings I experience, and I decide upon the goal I would achieve.
⁵And everything that seems to happen to me I ask for, and receive as I have asked.

⁶Deceive yourself no longer that you are helpless in the face of what is done to you. ⁷Acknowledge but that you have been mistaken, and all effects of your mistakes will disappear.

It is impossible the Son of God be merely driven by events outside of him. ²It is impossible that happenings that come to him were not his choice. ³His power of decision is the determiner of every situation in which he seems to find himself by chance or accident. ⁴No accident nor chance is possible within the universe as God created it, outside of which is nothing. ⁵Suffer, and you decided sin was your goal. ⁶Be happy, and you gave the power of decision to Him Who must decide for God for you. The wish for specialness demands that some must lose for others to gain. In this plan, harm is inevitable, attack justified and defense a necessity. This is the price we pay for believing in a unique identity.

But our true Identity is Love, universally one for eternity. Love joyously gives Itself without limit and receives all that it gives. It dwells in peace, knowing it is eternally safe in Love’s changelessness. Today we choose to accept God’s gift of all His Love and joyously extend to all.

The Holy Spirit Guides Us to See Our Oneness

You cannot forget the Father because I am with you, and I cannot forget Him. ²To forget me is to forget yourself and Him Who created you. ³Our brothers are forgetful. ⁴That is why they need your remembrance of me and of Him Who created me. ⁵Through this remembrance, you can change their minds about themselves, as I can change yours. ⁶Your mind is so powerful a light that you can look into theirs and enlighten them, as I can enlighten yours. …I do want to share my mind with you because we are of one Mind, and that Mind is ours. ¹⁰See only this Mind everywhere, because only this is everywhere and in everything. ¹¹It is everything because it encompasses all things within itself. ¹²Blessed are you who perceive only this, because you perceive only what is true.

Come therefore unto me, and learn of the truth in you. ²The mind we share is shared by all our brothers, and as we see them truly they will be healed. ³Let your mind shine with mine upon their minds, and by our gratitude to them make them aware of the light in them. ⁴This light will shine back upon you and on the whole Sonship, because this is your proper gift to God. ⁵He will accept it and give it to the Sonship, because it is acceptable to Him and therefore to His Sons. ⁶This is true communion with the Holy Spirit, Who sees the altar of God in everyone, and by bringing it to your appreciation, He calls upon you to love God and His creation. ⁷You can appreciate the Sonship only as one. ⁸This is part of the law of creation, and therefore governs all thought. The Holy Spirit accepts only the truth of Love, Which is universally one and changeless. Thus He sees only Love in everyone and everything. This Love unites us with our Creator and everyone, without exception. When we join with the Holy Spirit and let Him interpret our perceptions on our behalf, we are joined with the Sonship. We are accepting the Self that is God’s one Son.

Today we offer our perceptions to the Holy Spirit for His interpretation. He will show us the unity of Love beyond all appearances of differences and conflict. We will find peace in the Heart of Love.

Following the Teacher of True Love

You do not know the meaning of love, and that is your handicap. ²Do not attempt to teach yourself what you do not understand, and do not try to set up curriculum goals where yours have clearly failed.

³Resign now as your own teacher. ⁴This resignation will not lead to depression. ⁵It is merely the result of an honest appraisal of what you have taught yourself, and of the learning outcomes that have resulted. ⁶Under the proper learning conditions, which you can neither provide nor understand, you will become an excellent learner and an excellent teacher. ⁷But it is not so yet, and will not be so until the whole learning situation as you have set it up is reversed.

Your learning potential, properly understood, is limitless because it will lead you to God. ²You can teach the way to Him and learn it, if you follow the Teacher Who knows the way to Him and understands His curriculum for learning it. ³The curriculum is totally unambiguous, because the goal is not divided and the means and the end are in complete accord. ⁴You need offer only undivided attention. ⁵Everything else will be given you. ⁶For you really want to learn aright, and nothing can oppose the decision of God’s Son. ⁷His learning is as unlimited as he is. The key to becoming a teacher of God is to “follow the Teacher Who knows the way to Him.” Our inner Teacher knows that only the oneness of Love is real. The ego denies Love, and following any direction from the ego leads away from God’s Love.

Let us join together in a shared dedication to follow the Teacher who knows the way to Love. Under His leadership we will learn to recognize Love’s eternal Presence. We will learn to be Love’s expression in the world of perception. Differences will fade as we forgive our mistaken beliefs. And we will remember the safety of our Home in Love.

Welcoming the Reality of Love

What is a miracle? ²A dream as well. ³But look at all the aspects of this dream and you will never question any more. ⁴Look at the kindly world you see extend before you as you walk in gentleness. ⁵Look at the helpers all along the way you travel, happy in the certainty of Heaven and the surety of peace. ⁶And look an instant, too, on what you left behind at last and finally passed by.

The miracle forgives; the ego damns. ²Neither need be defined except by this. ³Yet could a definition be more sure, or more in line with what salvation is? ⁴Problem and answer lie together here, and having met at last the choice is clear. ⁵Who chooses hell when it is recognized? ⁶And who would not go on a little while when it is given him to understand the way is short and Heaven is his goal? (A Course in Miracles, C-2.7;10)

Judgment is the mechanism of separation. It fosters conflict, anger, fear and guilt. Judgment sees differences where none exist in truth. It blinds us to the light of Love that is everywhere to be seen, hidden behind a veil of false perceptions.

When we forgive our judgments, the veil is dispelled. We see the Love that unites us with our Creator, drawing us into His kind and warm embrace. Where we saw adversaries, we see helpers supporting us on our journey to the Home we dreamt we had lost.

Today we bring all our judgments to the Holy Spirit to purify our mind and welcome our true Reality in God’s eternal Love.

Forgiving the Wish for Specialness

The face of Christ has to be seen before the memory of God can return. ²The reason is obvious. ³Seeing the face of Christ involves perception. ⁴No one can look on knowledge. ⁵But the face of Christ is the great symbol of forgiveness. ⁶It is salvation. ⁷It is the symbol of the real world. ⁸Whoever looks on this no longer sees the world. ⁹He is as near to Heaven as is possible outside the gate. ¹⁰Yet from this gate it is no more than just a step inside. ¹¹It is the final step. ¹²And this we leave to God.

…the unity that [forgiveness] reflects becomes His Will. ³It is the only thing still in the world in part, and yet the bridge to Heaven.”

“How lovely does the world become in just that single instant when you see the truth about yourself reflected there. ²Now you are sinless and behold your sinlessness. ³Now you are holy and perceive it so. ⁴And now the mind returns to its Creator; the joining of the Father and the Son, the Unity of unities that stands behind all joining but beyond them all. ⁵God is not seen but only understood. ⁶His Son is not attacked but recognized.” A Course in Miracles, (C-3.4;5:2-3;8)

The world we seem to live in is a diversion. It is an outward picture of an inward wish for specialness. The body we perceive this through is the ego’s principle instrument to make our perceptions seem real. Yet we are learning nothing we perceive outside us can be true. Nothing exists outside the unity of God’s Love.

The practice of true forgiveness is the means to let go of our wish for specialness. When we let go of all the forms of differences we perceive, with the Holy Spirit’s help, we will perceive the oneness of Love in all things, including our true Self. This is the face of Christ. Today we take the Holy Spirit’s Hand and let Him guide us in all our doings.

Following Our Best Friend Home to Love

⁶The curriculum is highly individualized, and all aspects are under the Holy Spirit’s particular care and guidance. ⁷Ask and He will answer. ⁸The responsibility is His, and He alone is fit to assume it. ⁹To do so is His function. ¹⁰To refer the questions to Him is yours.

³To follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance is to let yourself be absolved of guilt. ⁴It is the essence of the Atonement. ⁵It is the core of the curriculum. ⁶The imagined usurping of functions not your own is the basis of fear. ⁷The whole world you see reflects the illusion that you have done so, making fear inevitable. ⁸To return the function to the One to Whom it belongs is thus the escape from fear. ⁹And it is this that lets the memory of love return to you. (A Course in Miracles, M-29.2:6-10;3:3-9)

There is one practice that will set us free from a ‘life’ of fear and guilt. We need to let the Holy Spirit be the interpreter of all our perceptions and guide all our thoughts and actions. The ego resists this practice with all its tricks because it realizes it leads to the ego’s dissolution.

The Holy Spirit remembers for us that we are only Love. He is not fooled by the images the ego contrives. When we follow Him, He leads us past our illusions of differences to see the unifying presence of Love in all things. He is our best Friend Whom we can safely call on to guide us Home to the safety of our Father’s Love.

A Call to Let Love Be

…sin is not real, and all that you believe must come from sin will never happen, for it has no cause. ³Accept Atonement with an open mind, which cherishes no lingering belief that you have made a devil of God’s Son. ⁴There is no sin. ⁵We practice with this thought as often as we can today, because it is the basis for today’s idea.

God’s Will for you is perfect happiness because there is no sin, and suffering is causeless. ²Joy is just, and pain is but the sign you have misunderstood yourself. ³Fear not the Will of God. ⁴But turn to it in confidence that it will set you free from all the consequences sin has wrought in feverish imagination. ⁵Say:

⁶God’s Will for me is perfect happiness.
⁷There is no sin; it has no consequence.

³You are set on freedom’s road, and now today’s idea brings wings to speed you on, and hope to go still faster to the waiting goal of peace. ⁴There is no sin. ⁵Remember this today, and tell yourself as often as you can:

⁶God’s Will for me is perfect happiness.
⁷This is the truth, because there is no sin.(W-101.5:2–6:7;7:3-7)

With the thought of separation comes the belief that harm is possible, and guilt and fear are justified. But if separation is impossible in reality, harm has never occurred. There is no cause for fear or guilt. This fact is the basis for accepting God’s Will for us. Our eternal peace and joy are guaranteed by our Father.

To accept His Will for us, we need to change our mind about the world. We have been given the Holy Spirit in our mind to lovingly guide us to reinterpret our perceptions. With His help, every moment becomes an opportunity to join in Love and to answer calls for Love with Love.
