Living A Course in Miracles — Accepting God’s Gift of Perfect Peace

From Complexity to Simplicity

In keeping with the ego’s goal of seek and do not find, the world seems to be filled with things to do. The world’s complexity keeps us focusing on survival as we try to negotiate all the distractions and detours.

Peace is the doorway to release from the weight of the world’s complexity. In peace, our minds are open to the understanding the Holy Spirit brings us. The Holy Spirit is always ready to shine His Light on everything we experience to show us the truth behind the appearances. In one way or another, He always shows us that only Love is real.

As we are willing to open to the center of peace within, the seeming complexity of our daily experience in the world fades in the Light of Love’s oneness. In this Light we can be receptive to solutions in form of our perceived problems. These solutions always bring greater ease with kindness and appreciation for the Love that is ever present.

Today we practice being vigilant for peace and accepting Holy Spirit’s help to see truth in every situation.

Accepting Help from the Holy Spirit

While unconscious tendencies dominate your mind, you cannot freely choose. The choices you make in your life will follow a repeating pattern, even though situations and circumstances may change. Yet the outcome will be the same. To bring about meaningful change, you must learn to know your own mind, not superficially but deeply. You must become aware of your mind in action, for it is always active. Its activity either multiplies and strengthens illusion, or move you in the direction of Truth.

To reinforce Truth in your mind, you must follow the guidance you receive from the Holy Spirit, for He alone knows Truth. You have lost the awareness of It, and banished It even from your memory. He is the link between you and your Creator, between you and your Self. As long as you are lost in the play of illusion, He will never leave you. The Holy Spirit is always available and will give you all the help you need, and can accept, at any time. You need only develop the habit of asking, and be receptive and open, to receive answers. (From the Christ Mind, pp. 126-127)

Because we are believing in illusions of loss, lack and vulnerability, we are very fearful. The ego mind creates a constant flow of problems to keep our mind occupied. It is only when we are willing to open our minds to our true Self, the Holy Spirit, that we receive the true answer to every problem. At this stage we don’t realize we are making up fearful stories of being separate from Love. We don’t realize that we are trying to be separate from our Source.

But we do have Help. As we openly welcome mind purification by recognizing that we don’t already know, the Holy Spirit shows us a way to look at the world we are seeing differently. We are brought to the truth of Love’s Presence behind the dream of separation. All this comes with accepting help from the Holy Spirit all through the day.

When Difficulties Arise

Let me not obscure the light of the world in me.
Let the light of the world shine through this appearance.
This shadow will vanish before the light. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.81.2:2-4)

Because we are all extensions of God’s Love and Light, the power of God is in us. As we return to accepting the Light that is within us, all that is not God’s Love and Light vanishes. Every difficulty becomes an opportunity to extend Love.

We find the Light in ourselves and in every brother. We are returned to the truth that only God’s perfect Love is real. Deep peace replaces conflict. Happiness replaces judgment. We remember that all are safe in the one Mind of God.

Letting Go of Belief in Separation

The temptation to regard problems as many is the temptation to keep the problem of separation unsolved.

If you could recognize that your only problem is separation, no matter what form it takes, you could accept the answer because you would see its relevance. Perceiving the underlying constancy in all the problems that seem to confront you, you would understand that you have the means to solve them all. And you would use the means, because you recognize the problem.

…do not insist on defining the problem. Perhaps you will not succeed in letting all your preconceived notions go, but that is not necessary. All that is necessary is to entertain some doubt about the reality of your version of what your problems are. You are trying to recognize that you have been given the answer by recognizing the [real] problem, so that the problem [belief in separation] and the answer can be brought together and you can be at peace. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.79.4:1;6:2-4;8:1-4)

We are learning that our whole experience of a world of separate bodies with separate minds is just coming from the mistaken belief that we could be separate from Love, our Source. We are learning that forgiveness, or letting go of belief in separation, is the the answer to every seeming problem. It is only through the Holy Spirit that we are returned to the truth of our oneness with every brother in God.

As we consistently practice opening our mind to the Light of Truth, we are truly released from pain and suffering. Today we focus on being willing to be shown the truth behind every form of separation. Today we let peace return us to the awareness of eternal oneness. All this comes as we let go of belief in separation.

Peace, Love and Happiness Are Ours

God’s Will is that we are one with Him. This means we always have and are all of His Love. This means that What God is, we are. To accept our oneness with God, we have to let go of thinking that we are separate from God. Thinking we are separate from God is a grievance against God, a refusal to accept What we are.

Today we open our minds to accept the miracle. The miracle shows us that we are still one with God as He created us to be. The miracle returns us to the truth that we are eternally one in God — we are eternally one with all Love. Today we let go of our one problem, which is thinking that we are separate from God/Love. Today we accept our one true Identity and the Identity of every brother as one with God. Today we accept peace and Love and happiness as ours.

Today We Let Go and Let God

This is the day of peace. You rest in God, and while the world is torn by winds of hate your rest remains completely undisturbed. Yours is the rest of truth. Appearances cannot intrude on you. You call to all to join you in your rest, and they will hear and come to you because you rest in God.

You rest today. And as you close your eyes, sink into stillness. Let these periods of rest and respite reassure your mind that all its frantic fantasies were but the dreams of fever that has passed away. Let [your mind] be still and thankfully accept its healing. No more fearful dreams will come, now that you rest in God. Take time today to slip away from dreams and into peace. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.109.3:1-5;5:3-8)

As we practice resting in God today, we receive God’s peace… We gently follow the flow of peace… We let what is not of peace gently fall away… As we pay attention to our thoughts all through the day we remember that we rest in God… We hand over all thoughts not of God into His gentle Hands… Love gently shines them away as we strengthen our practice of Letting go and letting God…

We Accept God’s Peace Today

Father, I come to You today to seek the peace that You alone can give. I come in silence. In the quiet of my heart, the deep recesses of my mind, I wait and listen for Your Voice. My Father, speak to me today. I come to hear Your Voice in silence and in certainty and love, sure You will hear my call and answer me. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.221.1)

Today we practice opening our minds to God’s peace… We open our minds to quietness… We are receptive… We open to God’s gentleness… We open to God’s peace…

We breathe deeply and relax… We let our constant Companion lift us up… With the Holy Spirit’s help, we rise above to see the Love…

We move past the clouds of separate bodies to the truth of our oneness in Love… We see all separation as illusion… We let go believing in what could never be true…

We remember that only Love is real… and that nothing could ever happen to change Love as It was created to be only Love forever… And we give thanks.
