Finding True Happiness

And so today we do not choose the way in which we go to Him. But we do choose to let Him come. And with this choice we rest. And in our quiet hearts and open minds, His Love will blaze its pathway of itself. …God knows His Son, and knows the way to him. He does not need His Son to show Him how to find His way. Through every opened door His Love shines outward from its home within, and lightens up the world in innocence.

Father, we do not know the way to You. But we have called, and You have answered us. We will not interfere. Salvation’s ways are not our own, for they belong to You. And it is unto You we look for them. Our hands are open to receive Your gifts. We have no thoughts we think apart from You, and cherish no beliefs of what we are, or Who created us. Yours is the way that we would find and follow. And we ask but that Your Will, which is our own as well, be done in us and in the world, that it become a part of Heaven now. Amen. We need to learn that nothing in the world of separation can bring us lasting happiness. God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. But the world of separation is the denial of God’s Will and therefore is the denial of happiness.

To surrender to God’s Will seems like loss to us. We believe it will require us to give up everything we value. This is true. But what we value is simply empty shells with no value of their own. We have been deceiving ourselves by believing bodies, relationships and things in the world have value. Yet of themselves they are empty and ultimately will always disappoint us. Seeking for happiness in the world is seeking to not find.

To find what we really want, to find true happiness, we need to seek it where it can be found — in the memory of our oneness with God’s Love. We do not need to seek for Love, for it is already ours. We need only seek to recognize the barriers we have built against it and let them go. This is what forgiveness offers. This is the Holy Spirit’s function: To help us recognize what is not true, see the truth beyond it and let go of the false.

Remembering Our Innocence

God is my life. I have no life but His.

I was mistaken when I thought I lived apart from God, a separate entity that moved in isolation, unattached, and housed within a body. Now I know my life is God’s, I have no other home, and I do not exist apart from Him. He has no Thoughts that are not part of me, and I have none but those which are of Him.

Our Father, let us see the face of Christ instead of our mistakes. For we who are Your holy Son are sinless. We would look upon our sinlessness, for guilt proclaims that we are not Your Son. And we would not forget You longer. We are lonely here, and long for Heaven, where we are at home. Today we would return. Our Name is Yours, and we acknowledge that we are Your Son. When we ask to see the face of Christ, we are asking to see only innocence. There can be no perception of guilt with the vision of Christ. Our true Self sees only innocence.

As we shift our attention from the ego’s illusions of guilt and separation to Christ’s vision of innocence and oneness, we remember our Home in the heart of God. Loneliness fades away. Fear and guilt fade away. Sadness fades away. We rest in the Heaven of God’s Presence, our Home.

Today we dedicate to giving Christ’s vision top priority.

Accepting the Stillness of God’s Peace

Today He speaks to you. His Voice awaits your silence, for His Word can not be heard until your mind is quiet for a while, and meaningless desires have been stilled. Await His Word in quiet. There is peace within you to be called upon today, to help make ready your most holy mind to hear the Voice for its Creator speak.

It is your voice to which you listen as He speaks to you. It is your word He speaks. It is the Word of freedom and of peace, of unity of will and purpose, with no separation nor division in the single Mind of Father and of Son. In quiet listen to your Self today, and let Him tell you God has never left His Son, and you have never left your Self. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 125, W-pI.125.6;8. Today we call upon the peace of God within to help us quiet our minds that we may receive His message that tells us we remain loved and safe in the Mind of God. His Will is ours. His joy is ours. In the stillness of God’s peace we remember that we are one with the Love that is the truth of every brother. Nothing that appears to happen the world can change what Love created us to be. In the stillness of God’s peace, we remember our Self, God’s one Son.

Seeing Our True Friend in Everyone

When you are still an instant, when the world recedes from you, when valueless ideas cease to have value in your restless mind, then will you hear His Voice. So poignantly He calls to you that you will not resist Him longer. In that instant He will take you to His home, and you will stay with Him in perfect stillness, silent and at peace, beyond all words, untouched by fear and doubt, sublimely certain that you are at home.

Rest with Him frequently today. For He was willing to become a little Child that you might learn of Him how strong is he who comes without defenses, offering only love’s messages to those who think he is their enemy. He holds the might of Heaven in His hand and calls them friend, and gives His strength to them, that they may see He would be Friend to them. He asks that they protect Him, for His home is far away, and He will not return to it alone. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 182, W-pI.182.8-9. See also ACIM Lesson 182 Insights.)

Everyone in the world is seeking for peace. But the world we experience through the body was made to keep the Source of peace out of our awareness. To find the peace we seek we need to step out of the world of form.

We need to be still, let our thoughts be quiet and open our minds to the Love within that is our true Self, God’s one Child.… In stillness we can remember the safety of our Home in God.… We can feel His strength in us and remember only Love is real.… We remember our strength and bring it with us back into the world of bodies.… We know that our strength is not of this world, but remains with us wherever we go.… We can trust in the strength of God within us and know that it will support us through each day.…

Today we will practice being still and remembering the strength of Love as we offer It to everyone. Thus we will learn that a seeming foe is truly our Friend Who is one with us.

We Live in God Eternally

…ideas leave not their source. If this be true, how can you be apart from God? How could you walk the world alone and separate from your Source?

You cannot walk the world apart from God, because you could not be without Him. He is what your life is. Where you are He is. There is one life. That life you share with Him. Nothing can be apart from Him and live.

Yet where He is, there must be holiness as well as life. No attribute of His remains unshared by everything that lives.

I walk with God in perfect holiness. I light the world,
I light my mind and all the minds which God created

We feel alone and vulnerable in the world of separate bodies. Yet this is only because we believe we are separate from God. Beyond the appearance of danger and loss is the sure protection of God’s Love, never wavering and always certain.

We can claim the sure protection of God’s strength and Love now. It still surrounds us with perfect peace. We become aware of this through forgiveness, by letting go of the belief that anything could happen to change God’s one Son, our Self. As we are willing to let the Holy Spirit show us that all things which disturb our peace never really happened, we take away the veil that hides the Life we live in God.

We live in God eternally. This thought cannot be overemphasized, for its acceptance is the end of hell. Punishment and death are recognized as weird imaginings that could never be true. We live in God. He is our Life. There is nothing else. In Him is our safety and our peace.

The Ego Is Fake News

Unless I look upon what is not there, my present happiness is all I see. Eyes that begin to open see at last. And I would have Christ’s vision come to me this very day. What I perceive without God’s Own Correction for the sight I made is frightening and painful to behold. Yet I would not allow my mind to be deceived by the belief the dream I made is real an instant longer. This the day I seek my present happiness, and look on nothing else except the thing I seek.

With this resolve I come to You, and ask Your strength to hold me up today, while I but seek to do Your Will. You cannot fail to hear me, Father. What I ask have You already given me. And I am sure that I will see my happiness today. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 290, W-pII.290. See also ACIM Lesson 290 Insights.)

The information we receive through the body’s senses is fake news. If we choose to believe it, we are deceiving ourselves. Our belief makes it seem true, but it does not make it true. This fake news is filled with terror and pain, loss and guilt. It never brings true happiness.

But there is another world that reflects the truth. It is a world seen only through forgiving eyes, which have let go of the past and see only the present. Only Love is present now, for only Love is real. No fake substitutes hide it from our awareness when we have truly forgiven the past. Here in this present Love is joy beyond words and peace that cannot be disturbed. Forgiveness offers this.

Today we ask for the strength of God to help us see truly and forgive the past. Thus will we experience the perfect happiness that is God’s Will for us.

We Have the Power to Change Our Thoughts

It can be but myself I crucify.

…to attack another is but to attack yourself. …[Your brother’s] safety is your own, and in his healing you are healed.

…teach your mind that you are not an ego. For the ways in which the ego would distort the truth will not deceive you longer. You will not believe you are a body to be crucified. And you will see within today’s idea [It can be but myself I crucify] the light of resurrection, looking past all thoughts of crucifixion and of death, to thoughts of liberation and of life.

For once you understand it is impossible that you be hurt except by your own thoughts, the fear of God must disappear. You cannot then believe that fear is caused without. And God, Whom you had thought to banish, can be welcomed back within the holy mind He never left.

The ego always plays the blame game. First it tries to project blame on others to convince us that they are the cause of our pain. If that doesn’t work, it points to our own guilt, our inadequacies and “sins.” This is the way the ego insures the maintenance of guilt that keeps the ego in place. So the ego would try to turn the fact that our thoughts are responsible for everything we experience into justification of our guilt and continuation of our hell.

But it’s really good news to learn that our thoughts are the cause of our experience because we can change our thoughts. The ego cannot take this power from us, but we can give it to the ego by believing we are the ego. One of the most important lessons we can learn is that we are not the ego — never were and never will be. As we withdraw our identification with the ego, we open the way for the help of the Holy Spirit to show us that in fact we remain Love as we were created. Only our loving thoughts are eternal. This is our freedom from the ego’s tyranny.

Today we will remind ourselves that we remain Love and nothing else. We will let the Holy Spirit show us the truth of Love in everyone and in ourselves.
