We Have Constant Support to Awaken

Steady our feet, our Father. ²Let our doubts be quiet and our holy minds be still, and speak to us. ³We have no words to give to You. ⁴We would but listen to Your Word, and make it ours. ⁵Lead our practicing as does a father lead a little child along a way he does not understand. ⁶Yet does he follow, sure that he is safe because his father leads the way for him.

“So do we bring our practicing to You. ²And if we stumble, You will raise us up. ³If we forget the way, we count upon Your sure remembering. ⁴We wander off, but You will not forget to call us back. ⁵Quicken our footsteps now, that we may walk more certainly and quickly unto You.

³We walk together. ⁴I must understand uncertainty and pain, although I know they have no meaning. ⁵Yet a savior must remain with those he teaches, seeing what they see, but still retaining in his mind the way that led him out, and now will lead you out with him. Like sponsor support in 12 step programs, we can think of Jesus as our sponsor. He has been there, done that with experiences in the dream. But he knows the path that led him out of the dream. He is fully qualified to lead us Home to freedom from our addiction to individuality and specialness.

He is ever present in our mind to be called upon when we need support. He is there to remind us of his vision that reveals the forgiven world to us. With his help, we recognize the dream is meaningless and unreal. He stands with us to show us the Love in which we live and have our Being.

We can call him for help in any instant, and he will respond with Love. He reminds us of our innocence. And we give thanks.

Letting Love Light Our World

Salvation is my only function here.

Salvation and forgiveness are the same. ²They both imply that something has gone wrong; something to be saved from, forgiven for; something amiss that needs corrective change; something apart or different from the Will of God.

²The mind that sees illusions thinks them real. ³They have existence in that they are thoughts. ⁴And yet they are not real, because the mind that thinks these thoughts is separate from God.

⁴Unshaken does the Holy Spirit look on what you see; on sin and pain and death, on grief and separation and on loss. ⁵Yet does He know one thing must still be true; God is still Love, and this is not His Will.

³Let in the light, and you will look upon no obstacle to what He wills for you. ⁴Open your secrets to His kindly light, and see how bright this light still shines in you. (A Course in Miracles, W-99.1:1-2;3:2-4;5:4-5;8:3-4. See also ACIM Lesson 99 Insights.)

The Light of Love is What we are. Yet we have divorced the Light and made a substitute which seems to allow us to see without Light. What we see are images projected by the ego thought of separation. In keeping with this thought, these images appear to be separate and different from What we are. We accept this appearance of images as our world, but none of it is real. It is a world of fear and guilt, anger and loss.

But we can remember the Light we are and let It shine. This Light reveals the truth of Love’s presence everywhere beyond the ego’s projected images. This Light brings us the correction that frees us from the limitations of separation, fear and guilt. The Light of Love dispels projections. In this Light, we see our brothers united with us, at one in God’s Love. The Holy Spirit is given us to help us see the Love in which we live and let go of the false images we thought were true.

Seeing the Reflection of Our Holiness

“Now” has no meaning to the ego. ²The present merely reminds it of past hurts, and it reacts to the present as if it were the past.… ⁴It dictates your reactions to those you meet in the present from a past reference point, obscuring their present reality. ⁵In effect, if you follow the ego’s dictates you will react to your brother as though he were someone else, and this will surely prevent you from recognizing him as he is.

⁵Unless you learn that past pain is an illusion, you are choosing a future of illusions and losing the many opportunities you could find for release in the present.… ⁹The Holy Spirit teaches that you always meet yourself, and the encounter is holy because you are.

⁴He regards the function of time as temporary, serving only His teaching function, which is temporary by definition. ⁵His emphasis is therefore on the only aspect of time that can extend to the infinite, for now is the closest approximation of eternity that this world offers. ⁶It is in the reality of “now,” without past or future, that the beginning of the appreciation of eternity lies. ⁷For only “now” is here, and only “now” presents the opportunities for the holy encounters in which salvation can be found.

³Healing cannot be accomplished in the past. ⁴It must be accomplished in the present to release the future. ⁵This interpretation ties the future to the present, and extends the present rather than the past. To see our brother truly is to see him as Love and nothing else. We cannot see him as he is if we use memories of the past as our reference to decide what he represents to us. This is what the ego does to give “meaning” to our world. Yet the past is an illusion, a dream of past hurts which never occurred in truth.

Because only Love is real and It never changes, we can only know in the present moment. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us let go of the past. With His help, we can see the present with the forgiving eyes of Christ’s vision. And our encounters will be holy. We will see reflections of our holiness in everyone.

How to Bring Love to the World

Your holiness is the answer to every question that was ever asked, is being asked now, or will be asked in the future. ²Your holiness means the end of guilt, and therefore the end of hell. ³Your holiness is the salvation of the world, and your own. ⁴How could you to whom your holiness belongs be excluded from it? ⁵God does not know unholiness. ⁶Can it be He does not know His Son?”

…search out your unloving thoughts in whatever form they appear; uneasiness, depression, anger, fear, worry, attack, insecurity and so on. ³Whatever form they take, they are unloving and therefore fearful. ⁴And so it is from [these thoughts] that you need to be saved.

³My unloving thoughts about _________ are keeping me in hell. ⁴My holiness is my salvation. (A Course in Miracles, W-39.4:1-6;6:2-4;8:3-4. See also ACIM Lesson 39 Insights.)

Any thought that disturbs our peace of mind is an unloving thought. Peace is an attribute of Love. If we are not at peace, we have accepted an unloving thought, a thought of separation from Love, into our mind. This is why unloving thoughts keep us in hell. Hell is quite simply lack of Love, the seeming opposite of Love’s oneness. But, because only Love is real, It has no real opposite.

Today’s exercise, practiced diligently, will help us immeasurably. It prepares our mind to quickly recognize a thought that needs to be corrected. We can use this recognition as a reminder to forgive, with the Holy Spirit’s help. When we are willing to let our unloving thoughts be healed, our mind will be transformed.

Today we are willing to be part of the transformation from fear to Love. As we choose against unloving thoughts and accept Christ’s vision in their place, we bring Love to the world.

We Can Rest in Peace, Now and Forever

¹¹Holy are you, eternal, free and whole, at peace forever in the Heart of God. ¹²Where is the world, and where is sorrow now?

Is this your judgment on yourself, teacher of God? ²Do you believe that this is wholly true? ³No; not yet, not yet. ⁴But this is still your goal; why you are here. ⁵It is your function to prepare yourself to hear this Judgment and to recognize that it is true. ⁶One instant of complete belief in this, and you will go beyond belief to Certainty. ⁷One instant out of time can bring time’s end. ⁸Judge not, for you but judge yourself, and thus delay this Final Judgment. ⁹What is your judgment of the world, teacher of God? ¹⁰Have you yet learned to stand aside and hear the Voice of Judgment in yourself? ¹¹Or do you still attempt to take His role from Him? ¹²Learn to be quiet, for His Voice is heard in stillness. ¹³And His Judgment comes to all who stand aside in quiet listening, and wait for Him.

⁶There is no deceit in God. ⁷His promises are sure. ⁸Only remember that. ⁹His promises have guaranteed His Judgment, and His alone, will be accepted in the end. ¹⁰It is your function to make that end be soon. ¹¹It is your function to hold it to your heart, and offer it to all the world to keep it safe. While we believe we are a body, all our judgments are wrong. They are based on a false premise that separation is real and that it is possible to judge another without first judging ourselves.

The eternal Love that is our Creator makes only one Judgment. It is the first and final Judgment. Because our Creator created us in the oneness of His Love, He knows that we are like Him, holy and complete. This Judgment never changes because it is the expression of Love’s oneness, which creates only like Itself.

This is Love’s guarantee. We accept this guarantee as we quiet our mind and welcome God’s peace. In peace we know our Reality as Love.

In quiet listening today, we ask for the Holy Spirit to help us open to the peace of God within. We ask His help to heal the mistaken thoughts that are afraid of God’s Love. With His help, we will know our true Reality and truly rest in peace, now and forever.

Seeing Our World in the Light of Love

[The] space you see as setting off all things from one another is the means by which the world’s perception is achieved. ²You see something where nothing is, and see as well nothing where there is unity; a space between all things, between all things and you. ³Thus do you think that you have given life in separation. ⁴By this split you think you are established as a unity which functions with an independent will.

Such is the teaching of the world. ²It is a phase of learning everyone who comes must go through. ³But the sooner he perceives on what it rests, how questionable are its premises, how doubtful its results, the sooner does he question [the world’s] effects. ⁴Learning that stops with what the world would teach stops short of meaning. ⁵In its proper place, it serves but as a starting point from which another kind of learning can begin, a new perception can be gained, and all the arbitrary names the world bestows can be withdrawn as they are raised to doubt. What the body perceives through its senses is not real, so it is really nothing. The body itself is not real and thus cannot perceive reality. We want these perceptions to be true because they are the means that provide specialness we seek. If we want to awaken to the happiness and Love that is our reality, we must learn to question the reality of the body and its perceptions.

This is what the Course is teaching us. As we learn to let go of our investment in specialness, we find peace. Without specialness, there is no need for form; only the joining in the oneness of universal Love. Without form, there is no conflict.

Our true Self is the Love we seek. As we accept the Holy Spirit’s perceptions in place of our own, our life experience becomes more joyous, peaceful and loving. We ask His help today to see past the body’s perceptions and see our world within the Light of Love.

Accepting God’s Call to Love

Do you not understand that to oppose the Holy Spirit is to fight yourself? ²He tells you but your will; He speaks for you. ³In His Divinity is but your own. ⁴And all He knows is but your knowledge, saved for you that you may do your will through Him. ⁵God asks you do your will. ⁶He joins with you. …¹¹God is no enemy to you. ¹²He asks no more than that He hear you call Him “Friend.”

How wonderful it is to do your will! ²For that is freedom. ³There is nothing else that ever should be called by freedom’s name. ⁴Unless you do your will you are not free. ⁵And would God leave His Son without what he has chosen for himself? ⁶God but ensured that you would never lose your will when He gave you His perfect Answer. ⁷Hear It now, that you may be reminded of His Love and learn your will.

Look once again upon your enemy, the one you chose to hate instead of love. ²For thus was hatred born into the world, and thus the rule of fear established there. ³Now hear God speak to you, through Him Who is His Voice and yours as well, reminding you that it is not your will to hate and be a prisoner to fear, a slave to death, a little creature with a little life. ⁴Your will is boundless; it is not your will that it be bound. ⁵What lies in you has joined with God Himself in all creation’s birth. To be happy we need only be true to our Self. This Self is Love and our will is to extend that Love. If we consider the times when we have felt loved and loving, a key part of that experience is happiness and peace. To be true to our Self is to be loving.

While we experience ourself as a body, Love seems to be a fleeting experience at best. That is only because the ego is terrified of the experience of Love and tries to minimize it. The ego sees Love as an attack because when we accept Love, we accept Love’s oneness. The ego cannot exist in oneness.

Today we choose to welcome God’s call to Love. It is His gift that brings us His joy and peace. When we accept His call, we accept our Self. With this acceptance, our day will be happy, peaceful and loving.
