Accepting Help from Beyond the Dream

Every day seems to be filled with decisions to make — what to say, what to do, where to go, what to buy, what to believe. The world was made to be complex to make it seem real. It seems to be that there are many influences from outside of us that can affect us.

The Course is telling us that we are the dreamer of the dream. The seeming complexity is coming from our own mind based on the belief that we have succeeded in separating from our brothers and our Source. We are told that this is not true. We remain at one with our Source as we were created.

In the dream it seems inconceivable that all the things that appear to happen are coming from our mind, but that is because of the self deception that is built into the dream. The fact that we are the dreamer is good news. It returns the power to change the dream back to us.

The first step in awakening is the recognition that we are the cause of what we experience in the dream. The next step is to ask for Help from beyond the dream to help us change our dream. This Help will teach us how to forgive ourselves and the external forces that seem to work against us by showing us their unreality.

The dream can never show us the truth because of what it is. But if we are willing to turn to the Help that is the Voice for Truth, we are guided to a gentler dream of forgiveness, which clears the way for the Light of Love to shine through. This dream of forgiveness is peaceful and happy. When our forgiveness is complete, it is a simple, joyous step to Heaven, where we are truly at Home.
