Problems are not specific but they take specific forms, and these specific shapes make up the world. ²And no one understands the nature of his problem. ³If he did, [the problem] would be there no more for him to see. ⁴Its very nature is that it is not [there]. ⁵And thus, while he perceives it he can not perceive it as it is. ⁶But healing is apparent in specific instances, and generalizes to include them all. ⁷This is because they really are the same, despite their different forms.
Your healing will extend, and will be brought to problems that you thought were not your own. ²And it will also be apparent that your many different problems will be solved as any one of them has been escaped.
Peace be to you to whom is healing offered. ²And you will learn that peace is given you when you accept the healing for yourself. …⁴What occurred within the instant that love entered in without attack will stay with you forever. ⁵Your healing will be one of its effects, as will your brother’s. ⁶Everywhere you go, will you behold its multiplied effects. …⁸Infinity cannot be understood by merely counting up its separate parts. ⁹God thanks you for your healing, for He knows it is a gift of love unto His Son, and therefore is it given unto Him. (ACIM T-27.V.8:1-7;9:1-2;11:1-2,4-6,8-9. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)
We are not responsible for our healing. That is the Holy Spirit’s function. But we are responsible to being willing to turn over all our perceived problems and accept the Holy Spirit’s healing lessons. This is a daily practice that leads us out of the ego’s loveless world intro the reality of God’s changeless Love. The process of the Holy Spirit’s healing curriculum is to teach us that we do not want to be limited to a body as our identity. It literally offers us nothing, for it is not real.
The Holy Spirit’s lessons lead us to accept our true Identity as God’s Son in the unity of his Love. We are led from a world of lack and loss to God’s universe of unlimited, eternal Love. God gave His Son this gift in his creation. It is ours to accept now.

The Holy Spirit cannot punish sin. ²Mistakes He recognizes, and would correct them all as God entrusted Him to do. ³But sin He knows not, nor can He recognize mistakes that cannot be corrected. ⁴For a mistake that cannot be corrected is meaningless to Him. ⁵Mistakes are for correction, and they call for nothing else. ⁶What calls for punishment must call for nothing. ⁷Every mistake must be a call for love. ⁸What, then, is sin? ⁹What could it be but a mistake you would keep hidden; a call for help that you would keep unheard and thus unanswered?
In time, the Holy Spirit clearly sees the Son of God can make mistakes. ²On this you share His vision. ³Yet you do not share His recognition of the difference between time and eternity. ⁴And when correction is completed, time is eternity. ⁵The Holy Spirit can teach you how to look on time differently and see beyond it, but not while you believe in sin. ⁶In error, yes, for this can be corrected by the mind. ⁷But sin is the belief that your perception is unchangeable…
When you are tempted to believe that sin is real, remember this: If sin is real, both God and you are not.
While you believe that your reality or your brother’s is bounded by a body, you will believe in sin. (A Course in Miracles, T-19.III.4:1–5:7;6:1;7:1. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)
The continuation of our belief in the permanency of separation (sin) depends upon our belief that the body is our identity. If the oneness of Love is real, individual bodies cannot be. This is the basis for the Holy Spirit’s lessons that free us from the bondage of the ego. He teaches us that our perceptions through the body are mistakes to be corrected.
The belief in unchangeable sin is the ego’s attempt to substitute for eternity. If sin cannot be corrected, separation is real and we are condemned to a loveless world. The best the ego can offer is special relationships as a substitute for the eternal Love of God. We seek for special partners, special status, special groups and myriad special identities. Our specialness needs constant defense against outside forces that threaten it. The one thing specialness cannot offer is the unity of changeless Love.
God gave us His Voice to teach us that sin is nothing more than a mistake to be corrected. His Voice leads us to correct our misperceptions and bring healing to our fear-based thoughts. Under His tutelage we learn to overlook the body’s limitations and see the presence of Love everywhere. He guides us on our journey of awakening to Love.

To forgive is merely to remember only the loving thoughts you gave in the past, and those that were given you. ²All the rest must be forgotten. ³Forgiveness is a selective remembering, based not on your selection. ⁴For the shadow figures you would make immortal are “enemies” of reality. ⁵Be willing to forgive the Son of God for what he did not do. ⁶The shadow figures are the witnesses you bring with you to demonstrate he did what he did not. ⁷Because you bring them, you will hear them. ⁸And you who keep them by your own selection do not understand how they came into your mind, and what their purpose is. ⁹[The shadow figures] represent the evil that you think was done to you. ¹⁰You bring them with you only that you may return evil for evil, hoping that their witness will enable you to think guiltily of another and not harm yourself. ¹¹They speak so clearly for the separation that no one not obsessed with keeping separation could hear them. ¹²They offer you the “reasons” why you should enter into unholy alliances to support the ego’s goals, and make your relationships the witness to its power.
³Without exception, these relationships have as their purpose the exclusion of the truth about the other, and of yourself.
How can the Holy Spirit bring His interpretation of the body as a means of communication into relationships whose only purpose is separation from reality? ²What forgiveness is enables Him to do so. ³If all but loving thoughts have been forgotten, what remains is eternal. ⁴And the transformed past is made like the present. …⁸That is why Atonement centers on the past, which is the source of separation, and where it must be undone. ⁹For separation must be corrected where it was made. (A Course in Miracles, T-17.III.1;2:3;5:1-4,8-9. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)
The ego uses time to make separation seem real. It retains ‘memories’ of the past yet tells us that the past cannot be changed. It deals with this conundrum by projecting the past onto present relationships. The guilt harbored in memories of the past is thus assigned to the perceived ‘other’ in the relationship. This allows the ego to assign guilt on the ‘other’ as a means of relieving its own guilt. Yet the guilt is not relieved but only hidden out of consciousness.
The Holy Spirit uses time for a different purpose. He helps us look at the memories from the past and remember only the loving thoughts. By forgiving, or letting go of the unloving thoughts, the relationship is purified of the ego’s projections from the past. Only Love is remembered now; the unloving thoughts harbored in the past are forgotten. We recognize the Love that is our brother and our Self. We remember together the oneness of Love and awaken with him in God’s Love.

Why would you not be overjoyed to be assured that all the evil that you think you did was never done, that all your sins are nothing, that you are as pure and holy as you were created, and that light and joy and peace abide in you? ²Your image of yourself cannot withstand the Will of God. ³You think that this is death, but it is life. ⁴You think you are destroyed, but you are saved.
The self you made is not the Son of God. ²Therefore, this self does not exist at all. ³And anything [the self you made] seems to do and think means nothing. ⁴It is neither bad nor good. ⁵It is unreal, and nothing more than that.
Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. ²Over and over this must be repeated, until it is accepted. ³It is true. ⁴Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. ⁵Nothing can touch it, or change what God created as eternal. ⁶The self you made, evil and full of sin, is meaningless. ⁷Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God, and light and joy and peace abide in you.
²Should you be tempted to become angry with someone, tell him silently:
³Light and joy and peace abide in you.
⁴Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 93, W-93.4:1–5:5;6;11:2-4. See also ACIM Lesson 93 Insights.)
We are not the ego. We are not the image of a self made by the ego as a substitute for the Son of God. The ego wants nothing to do with God and avoids God with every trick it can conjure. But it is all smoke and mirrors. Like the wizard in the Wizard of Oz, the ego hides behind a curtain of illusions held in place only by belief. Fortunately, beliefs cannot change reality. We are still the Love that God created us to be eternally.
His Love is one and cannot sin, for there is no separation in oneness. This is why our sinlessness is guaranteed by God. Only illusions can appear to harm each other. The acceptance of our sinlessness, our unity in the Love of God, is the release from hell. It is the return to the Love and joy and peace of God.

⁵Those who would let illusions be lifted from their minds are this world’s saviors, walking the world with their Redeemer, and carrying His message of hope and freedom and release from suffering to everyone who needs a miracle to save him.
How easy is it to offer this miracle to everyone! ²No one who has received it for himself could find it difficult. ³For by receiving it, he learned it was not given him alone. ⁴Such is the function of a holy relationship; to receive together and give as you received. ⁵Standing before the veil, it still seems difficult. ⁶But hold out your hand, joined with your brother’s, and touch this heavy-seeming block, and you will learn how easily your fingers slip through its nothingness. ⁷It is no solid wall. ⁸And only an illusion stands between you and your brother, and the holy Self you share together. (A Course in Miracles, T-22.IV.6:5–7:8. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)
As the Voice for God in our mind, the Holy Spirit speaks to us of the Love we are and share with every brother. There is no true difference between us and our brother, for we share the one Self that is God’s Son. Only the belief that separation is real can make a world where we seem different from everyone and everything. We do not look truly upon our brother; we look upon our own projections displayed on a veil like a movie on the screen.
We forget that we are the Source of the projection and what we see reflected by the veil are representations of our belief in separation. So it seems that what we see happens to us and we are not the cause of what happens in this illusion. All the images of the world disappear when the veil is lifted. The veil remains firmly in place as long as we want separation to be real.
But as we let the Holy Spirit help us forgive our misperceptions, the veil becomes less opaque. We learn the world offers nothing that will bring us lasting happiness, peace and Love. The Love we share with our brothers becomes more clear. The veil is fully lifted when we have forgiven the world for all we thought it was. Now we know the unity of Love we share with our brother and our Creator. We remember we are God’s Son, eternally united in His Love.

Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved.
Let me realize today that the problem is always some form of grievance that I would cherish. Let me also understand that the solution is always a miracle with which I let the grievance be replaced. Today I would remember the simplicity of salvation by reinforcing the lesson that there is one problem and one solution. The problem is a grievance; the solution is a miracle. And I invite the solution to come to me through my forgiveness of the grievance, and my welcome of the miracle that takes its place.
Specific applications of this idea might be in these forms:
This presents a problem to me which I would have resolved.
The miracle behind this grievance will resolve it for me.
The answer to this problem is the miracle that it conceals. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 90, W-pI.90.1-2. See also ACIM Lesson 90 Insights.)
Everything we see in the world is some kind of form. The physical forms we define by shape, size, color and distance. We also define psychological characteristics by attitudes, likes and dislikes and emotions. All these definitions make everything different. These differences represent the ego’s grievance against the oneness of God’s Love. Love does not judge nor condemn. It sees only Itself everywhere. The safety of our true Self lies in this oneness. Without differences, change or harm, are impossible.
Our only problem comes from aligning with the ego’s wish for specialness, differences. The ego’s core grievance against God is that He could not grant specialness or differences and remain the oneness of Love. When we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to forgive our grievance, represented by the perceived problem, the oneness of Love is welcome. The problem of differences dissolves in the presence of Love’s Light.
Today we choose to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to forgive our judgments, our grievances and let Him light our way back to God.

Miracles are seen in light.
⁵Denial of light leads to failure to perceive it. ⁶Failure to perceive light is to perceive darkness.
⁵Your faith lies in the darkness, not the light [of Love]. ⁶How can this be reversed? ⁷For you it is impossible, but you are not alone in this.
Your efforts, however little they may be, have strong support. ²Did you but realize how great this strength, your doubts would vanish. ³Today we will devote ourselves to the attempt to let you feel this strength. ⁴When you have felt the strength in you, which makes all miracles within your easy reach, you will not doubt. ⁵The miracles your sense of weakness hides will leap into awareness as you feel the strength in you.
²It is from [God’s Thoughts] that your strength will come. ³It is through Their strong support that you will feel the strength in you. (W-91.2:5-6;3:5–4:5;10:2-3)
The ego is the idea of being separate and alone. Yet we are never alone, for God goes with us wherever we go. No matter how fearful we may feel as perceptions of harm and loss dominate our mind, God’s strength is with us. Nothing in this world can change that. Nothing can change God nor His Will that we have all His strength. Our true Self remains wholly contained within His Love and strength.
In every moment we can call upon His strength to help us see past the ego’s illusions of separation. His strength shows us the reality of our true Self in Him is invulnerable to anything the ego can conjure. We are not a body. We are the thought of Love held eternally in the Mind of God. We are safe. We are loved without limit.
We call upon His strength today to walk in the way of Love with peace in our hearts. With His help we awaken to the Light of Love that illuminates our Home in Heaven.
