Rest in the Stillness of God’s Love

“I rest in God.” This thought will bring to you the rest and quiet, peace and stillness, and the safety and the happiness you seek. “I rest in God.” This thought has power to wake the sleeping truth in you, whose vision sees beyond appearances to that same truth in everyone and everything there is. Here is the end of suffering for all the world, and everyone who ever came and yet will come to linger for a while. Here is the thought in which the Son of God is born again, to recognize himself.

“I rest in God.” Completely undismayed, this thought will carry you through storms and strife, past misery and pain, past loss and death, and onward to the certainty of God. There is no suffering it cannot heal. There is no problem that it cannot solve. And no appearance but will turn to truth before the eyes of you who rest in God. There is a Light in us that can guide us through all stormy times — all times of uncertainty, sadness or pain. We open to that Light as we let ourselves rest in God. The certainty and strength of God are ever present, offering us His safety and comfort. We need only pause in any moment and let ourselves sink deeply into God’s perfect peace. This peace is always available to be experienced.

Today is a day to remember to rest in the stillness of God’s Love.

Remembering Love

God’s memory is in our holy minds, which know their oneness and their unity with their Creator. Let our function be only to let this memory return, only to let God’s Will be done on earth, only to be restored to sanity, and to be but as God created us. (A Course in Miracles Workbook, “11. The memory of Love is eternally in our minds. Love created us like Itself and shares all Its attributes with us. The dream of a world of separation is the denial of Love’s oneness. But we came to let go of that denial and let the memory of Love return. That is our only meaningful function.

Forgiveness is letting go of the denial of Love. Every moment in the dream presents us with an opportunity to forgive or let go of denying Love and is an opportunity to extend Love. The Holy Spirit, the Voice for Love, is our Guide in our minds to help us recognize mistaken thoughts of lovelessness and let them go.

Today is a day to practice letting Holy Spirit help us remember Love.

Opening to Holy Spirit’s Inspiration

Communication is not limited to the small range of channels the world recognizes.… The limits the world places on communication are the chief barriers to direct experience of the Holy Spirit, Whose Presence is always there and Whose Voice is available but for the hearing. These limits are placed out of fear, for without them the walls that surround all the separate places of the world would fall at the holy sound of His Voice. Who transcends these limits in any way is merely becoming more natural. He is doing nothing special, and there is no magic in his accomplishments.

God gives no special favors, and no one has any powers that are not available to everyone.

The Holy Spirit needs these gifts, and those who offer them to Him and Him alone go with Christ’s gratitude upon their hearts, and His holy sight not far behind. (A Course in Miracles, M-25.2:2,5-8;3:7;6:9)

The Holy Spirit knows our true Identity is one with all of God’s perfect Love. The Holy Spirit also knows this is true about everyone in this world. As we learn to quiet our minds and sincerely open to the truth, the Holy Spirit can help us throughout the day to be truly helpful in this world.

The Holy Spirit needs us to be open-minded and not decide what anything means on our own… As we are willing to step back and receive Holy Spirit’s insight with every situation we encounter, we will receive it…

With Holy Spirit, there is nothing to fear… We feel a sense of peace, patience and Love that the Holy Spirit transmits through us… We feel relaxed and trusting that our inner Teacher is there for us, no matter what shows up in the dream of separate bodies…

We know that God is our strength and vision is His gift… With Holy Spirit we are able to see past the separate forms of this world to the eternal oneness of God’s Love…

As we receive God’s gifts of peace and understanding, we freely extend them to everyone, because by sharing His gifts, we know they are ours… All this comes naturally as we consistently practice opening to Holy Spirit’s inspiration.

We Let Ourselves Be Carried

Today we practice stepping back and letting ourselves be carried by Love’s kind and gentle Light…

We let Love’s peace flow through everything we do… We let Love’s peace heal our unhealed thoughts…

We decide nothing on our own and let ourselves be carried by Holy Spirit’s gentle inspiration in all our activities today.

Letting Holy Spirit Lead Us to Joy

Today we dedicate to following Holy Spirit’s lead. As we follow His lead, every moment is an opportunity to extend Love and answer calls for love with Love.

This practice will make the day a happy day indeed. For what could be more joyous than to be Love’s expression? All condemnation is laid aside and our oneness with all our brothers is remembered.

The Holy Spirit leads us to a “family reunion” as we recognize our unity with every brother. With this recognition we reunite in the oneness of Love, our Creator and our Source. It will be a joyous reunion indeed.

We Desire to Remember Our True Reality

The Thought of God created you. It left you not, nor have you ever been apart from it an instant. It belongs to you. By it you live. It is your Source of life, holding you one with it, and everything is one with you because it left you not. The Thought of God protects you, cares for you, makes soft your resting place and smooth your way, lighting your mind with happiness and love. Eternity and everlasting life shine in your mind, because the Thought of God has left you not, and still abides with you.

Would God consent to let His Son remain forever starved by his denial of the nourishment he needs to live? Abundance dwells in him, and deprivation cannot cut him off from God’s sustaining Love and from his home.

We count on God, and not upon ourselves, to give us certainty. …His sureness lies beyond our every doubt. His Love remains beyond our every fear. The Thought of Him is still beyond all dreams and in our minds, according to His Will. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 165, W-pI.165.2:1-7;6:5-6;8:1,3-5. See also ACIM Lesson 165 Insights.)

Because we are one with God, we are one with the Thought of God. Oneness means there are no differences — we are one and the same. We are the Thought of Love in the Mind of Love. Love shares all of Itself with all that is, and all that is is Love. This is the truth of our Reality.

As we desire to remember our true Reality, we open our inner windows and doors to the Light and peace and joy that is ours eternally. We practice this today.

Going Within to Our Inner Refuge of Peace

When you are still an instant, when the world recedes from you, when valueless ideas cease to have value in your restless mind, then will you hear His Voice. So poignantly He calls to you that you will not resist Him longer. In that instant He will take you to His home, and you will stay with Him in perfect stillness, silent and at peace, beyond all words, untouched by fear and doubt, sublimely certain that you are at home.

He has come as does a little child, who must beseech his father for protection and for love. He rules the universe, and yet He asks unceasingly that you return with Him, and take illusions as your gods no more.

You have not lost your innocence. It is for this you yearn. This is your heart’s desire. …Be still an instant and go home with Him, and be at peace a while. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 182, W-pI.182.8:1-3;11:4-5;12:1-3,9. See also ACIM Lesson 182 Insights.)

We have a place of refuge in our mind. It is a place of safety, peace and Love. It is the part of us that remembers our true Home. To go to this place of refuge we must step back from the frenzy of the world we experience through the body. This refuge cannot be found in the world. It is found instead by setting aside the world’s values and giving our attention to the stillness, peace and happiness of Love’s oneness.

We let the thoughts of the world pass by without engaging them… As we let them fade into the distance, the quiet strength and certainty of the Love within grows stronger in our awareness… Our mind becomes still… and we rest in deep peace… revitalized by Love’s strength… We remember our innocence… and see it in all our brothers… We return to our doing in the world with a new vision that lets our doing extend Love in gentleness and kindness.
