Remembering Our Safety in Love

⁵Tolerance for pain may be high, but it is not without limit. ⁶Eventually everyone begins to recognize, however dimly, that there _must_ be a better way. ⁷As this recognition becomes more firmly established, it becomes a turning point. ⁸This ultimately reawakens spiritual vision, simultaneously weakening the investment in physical sight. ⁹The alternating investment in the two levels of perception is usually experienced as conflict, which can become very acute. ¹⁰But the outcome is as certain as God.

Spiritual vision literally cannot see error, and merely looks for Atonement. ²All solutions the physical eye seeks dissolve. ³Spiritual vision looks within and recognizes immediately that the altar has been defiled and needs to be repaired and protected. ⁴Perfectly aware of the right defense it passes over all others, looking past error to truth. ⁵Because of the strength of its vision, it brings the mind into its [spirit’s] service. ⁶This re-establishes the power of the mind and makes it increasingly unable to tolerate delay, realizing that it only adds unnecessary pain. ⁷As a result, the mind becomes increasingly sensitive to what it would once have regarded as very minor intrusions of discomfort. Spiritual vision shows us only the truth — the oneness of Love. Physical sight is part of the ego thought system which values anything that blocks awareness of Love’s Presence. The body is part of the ego’s plan to make separation and differences appear real and immutable. But only our investment in physical sight keeps the dream of separation in our awareness.

It is time to withdraw our investment in the dream. Now we need to apply our attention to look within to our true Self, which remains united with our Source. Here we recognize that we live in the unity of Love where harm is impossible. Peace of mind is natural.

Pain is now a signal that we need to shift our attention to spiritual sight. It is time to ask the Holy Spirit to help us let go of our investment in separation. He needs only our willingness to accept His help to bring healing to our troubled mind. With His help we will overlook the dream figures and see that we are safe in the oneness of God’s Love.
