We Are at Home in God

I was mistaken when I thought I lived apart from God, a separate entity that moved in isolation, unattached, and housed within a body. Now I know my life is God’s, I have no other home, and I do not exist apart from Him. He has no Thoughts that are not part of me, and I have none but those which are of Him.

Our Father, let us see the face of Christ instead of our mistakes. For we who are Your holy Son are sinless. We would look upon our sinlessness, for guilt proclaims that we are not Your Son. And we would not forget You longer. We are lonely here, and long for Heaven, where we are at home. Today we would return. Our Name is Yours, and we acknowledge that we are Your Son. Today our practice is to let ourselves remember What we are and Where we are in truth. We practice letting ourselves remember that we are at Home and safe in God’s holy Mind. We may dream that we are separate, but we cannot make it the truth.

We are safe in Love and we let go of trying to distract ourselves with false image-making of conflict and separation. We would let ourselves become aware of our real Home — our eternal Home. We are Love in the Mind of Love. We rest with God in Love today.

Awakening to Love

We state again the truth about your Self, the holy Son of God Who rests in you; whose mind has been restored to sanity. You are the Spirit lovingly endowed with all your Father’s Love and peace and joy. You are the Spirit which completes Himself, and shares His function as Creator. He is with you always, as you are with Him. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.97.2. See also ACIM Lesson 97 Insights.)

Identifying with the ego and the body as what we are leaves us in a crisis of identity. It leaves us feeling like we are adrift in an open ocean with no sight of land and no way to find solid ground. Yet certainty and safety are available to us right now. We need only identify instead with the truth of What we are — Spirit held safely in the peace of God.

The solution to this identity crisis is simple and radical: Set aside identifying with an image in the world and accept the Truth that we are Spirit and nothing else. This is how we free ourselves from fear and guilt and open to receive God’s loving gifts of peace and joy.

Today we will remind ourselves often that we are Spirit. When we meet or even think of a brother, we will remind ourselves that he is Spirit and one with us in that Spirit. Each time we remember, we take a giant stride forward in our awakening to Love.

Walking with Christ to Peace

Forget not that the motivation for this course is the attainment and the keeping of the state of peace. Given this state [of peace] the mind is quiet, and the condition in which God is remembered is attained.

Where could your peace arise but from forgiveness? The Christ in you looks only on the truth, and sees no condemnation that could need forgiveness. He is at peace because He sees no sin. Identify with Him, and what has He that you have not? He is your eyes, your ears, your hands, your feet. How gentle are the sights He sees, the sounds He hears. How beautiful His hand that holds His brother’s, and how lovingly He walks beside him, showing him what can be seen and heard, and where he will see nothing and there is no sound to hear. The thought system of separation sees “others” as separate, capable of harm, and deserving of judgment. But Love does not condemn and sees nothing to forgive. The Christ in us sees through forgiving eyes and so is eternally at peace.

To attain peace, we need to shift our allegiance from the belief in separation to the Christ within. As we join hands with the Christ and accept His vision, we see our brothers as wholly innocent and remember that we are innocent as well — and we are at peace.

Today we practice holding Christ’s Hand as we go through our day.

We Are Entitled to Peace Today

You are entitled to peace today. A problem that has been resolved cannot trouble you. Only be certain you do not forget that all problems are the same. Their many forms will not deceive you while you remember this. One problem, one solution. Accept the peace this simple statement brings. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.80.3. See also Lesson 80 Insights.)

Let us today practice accepting the peace that is inherent within us always. Let us practice receiving inspiration from the Holy Spirit with every activity we engage in today.

The ego mind will generate belief in a continuous flow of problems. When we notice ourselves falling into the ego trap, we instead practice opening our minds to receive the peace that we are entitled to. Because we are a child of God, peace is always present. It takes our willingness to accept our true inheritance. As we accept peace, inspiration comes with it. The Light of Truth comes with it. As we accept the peace we are entitled to today, it will be a joy-filled day of extending our innate Love and happiness.

Light and Joy and Peace Abide in You

Salvation requires the acceptance of but one thought;—you are as God created you, not what you made of yourself. Whatever evil you may think you did, you are as God created you. Whatever mistakes you made, the truth about you is unchanged. Creation is eternal and unalterable. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. You are and will forever be exactly as you were created. Light and joy and peace abide in you because God put them there. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.93.7)

Today we accept this truth about ourselves… We stay close to truth today, letting the Light of Truth flow through us with our thoughts about ourselves and about everyone around us… Our innocence is guaranteed by God and we are grateful that this is so.

Choosing Holy Spirit’s Certainty

Ask and [the Holy Spirit] will answer. The responsibility is His, and He alone is fit to assume it. To do so is His function. To refer the questions to Him is yours.

To ask the Holy Spirit to decide for you is simply to accept your true inheritance. …If you have made it a habit to ask for help when and where you can, you can be confident that wisdom will be given you when you need it. Prepare for this each morning, remember God when you can throughout the day, ask the Holy Spirit’s help when it is feasible to do so, and thank Him for His guidance at night. And your confidence will be well founded indeed. (A Course in Miracles, M-29.2:7-10;5:4,8-10)

The ego is a know-it-all. Yet its claim to “knowledge” is a memory of a past which is not real. Its offerings of help based on illusions can only lead to uncertainty, anxiety and fear if we rely on its guidance.

Thankfully we have within our minds the Holy Spirit, Whose knowledge comes from Its unity with the Source of all Reality. When we follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance, which is always based on certainty, we rest in quiet safety, deep peace and the strength of God.

We are free to choose Holy Spirit’s certainty in every moment. We need only practice asking all questions of the Holy Spirit instead of the ego. This practice is the path that returns us to the Heaven of perfect happiness, deep peace and changeless Love. Today is another joyful day of practice.

Paying Attention to Our “Peace Meter”

Peace of mind is clearly an internal matter. It must begin with your own thoughts, and then extend outward. It is from your peace of mind that a peaceful perception of the world arises. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.34.1:2-4)

By being mindful of our level of peace, we establish a “peace meter” which lets us know whether we are following the ego or the Holy Spirit as our Guide. The ego is the denial of peace, being the denial of Love. Any lack of peace is a sure sign that we need to choose another Guide. When we feel at peace, we are following Love’s lead, which is always peaceful because the strength of Love is invulnerable.

When our peace meter indicates we are following the ego’s lead, we always have a choice. We can stay on the ego’s path or we can pause, step back and open to the peace within. As we let our focus be on peace and welcome it in our minds, we open to the lead of the Holy Spirit, our true Self. The more we practice this, the more our peace meter will stay on the side of peace instead of conflict.

Today we dedicate to paying attention to our peace meter.
