Seeing Past Bodies to Holiness

The Holy Spirit guarantees that what God willed and gave you shall be yours. This is your purpose now, and the vision that makes it yours is ready to be given. You have the vision that enables you to see the body not. And as you look upon your brother, you will see an altar to your Father, holy as Heaven, glowing with radiant purity and sparkling with the shining lilies [vision of innocence] you laid upon it.

There is no problem, no event or situation, no perplexity that vision will not solve. All is redeemed when looked upon with vision. For this is not your sight, and brings with it the laws beloved of Him Whose sight it is. (A Course in Miracles, T-20.VIII.4:1-4;5:7-9)

If we want to experience the gifts of joy and peace that God has given us, we must be willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s vision in place of what we seem to see through the body’s eyes. The body is a self-made image and can only show us made up images. The Holy Spirit’s vision looks past these images to the changeless truth that we remain as God created us. We remain Love and nothing else.

Holy Spirit, give me Your strength to receive Your vision and see past the made up images to the Oneness that I share with all my brothers. Help me to know that there is nothing beyond this Oneness. I am willing to accept Your help to see my brother truly and learn of the Self we share. With Your help I will stand with my brother in holiness before our Creator and know that I am Home. I will remember God’s peace and joy are mine.

We Are Love and Nothing Else

And as we look upon a world forgiven, it is He Who calls to us and comes to take us home, reminding us of our Identity which our forgiveness has restored to us. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.8.5:4)

Our Identity, which God created one with Him, is eternal and changeless. To not know our eternal Identity, we must actively deny It. We have to continuously turn our back on Love and tell ourselves that we lack Love in order to maintain the illusion of separation.

When the Course tells us that we need do nothing, it is telling us that we need to stop actively denying our Identity. The moment we stop denying our Identity without reservation or exception, we will awaken to our oneness in Love, in God. The only reason we maintain our denial of Love is because we think there is something more valuable in the thought system of separation. Gently, patiently and steadily the Course is teaching us to recognize that this world truly offers us nothing we want, nothing of value.

Forgiveness comes as we recognize that what we thought we wanted in the world no longer has value to us. When we recognize that no one has to behave in a certain way for us to be happy, the behavior no longer has value to us — we have forgiven it. When we recognize that having a certain job, relationship, status or belongings has no value to us, we let those ideas go — we forgive them.

This is how we step back from denying our Identity and open the door to welcome the Truth of what we are. We accept our Identity and God welcomes us Home. God cannot accept the false identity we made up because it is inconceivable to Him. But He has always accepted the Identity of the Son He created, which we are. We are Love and nothing else.

Accepting God’s Peace

Where would I go but Heaven? What could be a substitute for happiness? What gift could I prefer before the peace of God? What treasure would I seek and find and keep that can compare with my Identity? And would I rather live with fear than love? (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.287.1)

The peace of God is our inheritance. It’s already ours. We don’t have to seek for it. But we do need to accept it and extend it to know that we have the peace of God.

Judgment is a defense against the peace of God. It blocks peace from our awareness because it maintains that there is something external from us to judge. Separation and peace cannot coexist.

We accept the peace of God by letting go of judgment — turning over all judgment to the Holy Spirit. His judgment is always: “real or unreal, Love or nothing.” Today we practice walking moment by moment with Holy Spirit guiding our thoughts and actions. With His help we will set aside our denials of peace and offer only peace to the world.

We Heal as We Join with Holy Spirit Today

Healing, forgiveness, and the glad exchange of all the world of sorrow for a world where sadness cannot enter, are the means by which the Holy Spirit urges you to follow Him. His gentle lessons teach how easily salvation can be yours; how little practice you need undertake to let His laws replace the ones you made to hold yourself a prisoner to death. His life becomes your own, as you extend the little help He asks in freeing you from everything that ever caused you pain. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.137.9)

We open to Holy Spirit’s lessons today… We let His Thoughts replace the fearful thoughts of the ego thought system. We let healing come to us…

As we let our minds be healed, we become instruments of healing… We extend the loving Presence that we have received… We let illusions be brought to truth…

We are filled with gratitude for all the help we receive and extend. We join with every brother to let healing be.

In Peace All Problems Are Quietly Resolved

I am entitled to miracles because I am under no laws but God’s. His laws release me from all grievances, and replace them with miracles. And I would accept the miracles in place of the grievances, which are but illusions that hide the miracles beyond. Now I would accept only what the laws of God entitle me to have, that I may use it on behalf of the function He has given me. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.89.1:2-5)

We are learning that whenever we perceive a problem — with a computer that is not working, a difficult relationship, a situation that is disturbing — it represents a grievance. It is a coverup that hides the ever-present Love that is eternally extended to us and through us. The Love is still there, but because we are focused on the seeming problem, we are unaware of it.

The solution is always to open to the Holy Spirit’s vision, which will show us the strength and unity of Love behind the appearances. The perception of a problem is simply a mistake which we cannot correct on our own. But the Holy Spirit can correct our perception. He shines the Light of Love that dissipates the darkness of our grievance so that the appearance of a problem fades away.

As we accept the Holy Spirit’s vision, we receive a change of mind which returns us to the experience of God’s peace and strength. With this change of mind we may be inspired with actions or thoughts with which we can resolve the forms in the world that appear to be problems. In peace are all problems quietly resolved.

We Share the One Identity of Love

Father, our Name (Identity) is Yours. In It we are united with all living things, and You Who are their one Creator. What we made and call by many different names is but a shadow we have tried to cast across Your Own reality. And we are glad and thankful we were wrong. All our mistakes we give to You, that we may be absolved from all effects our errors seemed to have. And we accept the truth You give, in place of every one of them. Your [Identity] is our salvation and escape from what we made. Your [Identity] unites us in the oneness which is our inheritance and peace. Amen. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.184.15)

We are learning that behind all perceived differences we share one Identity — the Identity of Love. Our Creator created us all as the same Love that It is. Our Creator is the Spirit of Love, and therefore we all are the same Spirit of Love.

Thinking that we are separate from our one Identity as Love is the cause of all our pain, sorrow and distress. We have denied our real Identity and now we are at a turning point. We are ready to loosen our hold on the belief that we have separated from our Source. We are returning to the awareness that we are still one with our Source, which is unified Love. We are returning to the awareness that we cannot leave and be in a loveless world where everything is separate and alone.

We open to the truth at last, because it is too painful to continue this false charade of separation… We gladly hand over all of these thoughts of being separate, weak and vulnerable… We allow ourselves to be carried by the gentle Hands of the Spirit of Love (Holy Spirit)… We surrender our beliefs in individuality and differences… We let the Light of Truth shine away these mistaken perceptions…

We gradually receive the depth of peace, Love and joy that comes with letting our false ideas about the world be undone… We are filled with gratitude and a deep sense that all are safe… and that nothing really has happened to change our one true Identity as Love… We soak in this remembering today… and let it fill our hearts and minds… We extend Love to every brother… and see everyone as part of our one, united Beingness in Love…

We Have Constant Help

…perception can be given a new purpose by the One Whom God appointed Savior to the world. Follow His light, and see the world as He beholds it. Hear His Voice alone in all that speaks to you. And let Him give you peace and certainty… (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.3.4:2-5)

The Holy Spirit, our inner Teacher, has gifts to give us the moment we are willing to open up to receive them… As we let our minds quiet and go to the Light within, we are lifted up to see the world anew…

With Holy Spirit we rise above the stories of the world to see the eternal presence of Love that is always there to see… Here we find peace… Here we find certainty… We let Holy Spirit carry us past the world to the awareness of Love’s presence…

We are grateful we have this constant Help as we are willing to receive it.
