Our Experiences with the ACIM Conference in SF

Hello again, we are back. The last two months have been very full with moving to Florida and then participating in the ACIM International Conference in San Francisco. We had a very wonderful experience joining with ACIM students and teachers from around the world.

We met Carol Howe, who is in the process of completing a book about the life of Bill Thetford, who joined with Helen Schucman in the scribing of the Course. Carol was close friends with him from shortly after ACIM was published and has had many personal experiences as well as information gathered from many interviews of people who knew him well. She told us that Bill awakened shortly before his transition and wants to share her experience with him so that fellow Course students will have a more complete feeling for the profound effect that living Course principles can have on our lives. We are excited about this book and will let you know as soon as it is available. We may also schedule a workshop here in Florida with Carol Howe.

We are also seeking Holy Spirit’s guidance about scheduling workshops with Nouk Sanchez and Tomas Viera (authors of Take Me to Truth) and Mary Gerrard Lenihan on an exciting new program called, WNYHOO-NOW! (World Needs Your Help One-to One Now!) Mary Lenihan and John Hutkin will also share their experiences around the publishing of “The Book ON and Jesus answers.” At the Pathways of Light Center in Wisconsin, Revs. Sharyn Zenz and Larry Glenz are planning a weekend workshop based on “The Book ON” in June. At this stage we are taking it a day at a time with Holy Spirit to see what unfolds.

Holy Spirit’s messages today for Mary and Robert:

Mary: Love is extending eternally. Love extends Love to all of its one Self. It does not change. It does not come and go. One Love constantly extending all of Itself to all of Itself. This eternal giving of Love is What you are. Receiving and extending Love is the Beingness of Love. The gift of accepting this Beingness is experienced as eternal peace and eternal joy. It is the experience of Heaven. You can have this experience now if you so choose.

This Beingness is experienced as you give up the thoughts of the world, the thoughts of separation. You give up the thoughts of the world by handing them to Me to be undone. This is a constant process that is required as long as you place your belief in a world of separation. You receive the Beingness of Heaven when you are willing to let go of belief in the ego’s world. Let this be your only purpose now. The benefits are far beyond what you can conceive of now. Vigilance for truth requires watching the ego thoughts that flow through your mind and handing them over again and again until there is nothing left but God.

As you continue this mind healing process of handing over everything that is not God’s Love, you will feel a lightening of your heavy load. You will feel more carefree and see clearly that the gyrations of the world really mean nothing and are nothing. You take the world less seriously and are in a position to be truly helpful with those still deeply caught up in the “reality” of the dream. A sense of calm and well being pervades and you feel more confident in your true nature as Love as you continue your journey Home. You see that you are being helped every minute as your openness to the Truth grows and expands. You feel an inner happiness, an inner contentment that nothing can change the Love you are and the Love everyone is. You know that everyone is really safe for they are eternal Love, like you. We are one Love and That Love is eternal and changeless.

Robert: The only meaningful purpose in all your doing is to awaken to the Truth of What you are. Nothing else matters because nothing else is real. Everything you perceive in the world can be used for this purpose or used by the ego to reinforce the belief that you are separate and alone. Those are your only two choices in every moment. Choose the ego’s purpose and you will experience deeper and deeper levels of disturbance, distress, disillusionment and depression. In other words, you will bury yourself in hell. But contrary to the ego’s teaching, hell is not eternal because hell is only a mistaken belief.

To use each perception in each moment on behalf of awakening you must relinquish all attempts to interpret on your own. You have no meaningful basis for interpretation. You must open to the Vision and interpretation of the Holy Spirit, your true Self, in your mind.

Begin each day with this simple dedication and prayer: “I would interpret nothing on my own today. Holy Spirit, guide my vision that I might know the true meaning in every moment.” As you move through your day, as often as possible, remind yourself that you want only to let the Holy Spirit interpret all things for you.

If you observe that you are disturbed in any way, step back. Open your mind and heart to peace and remind yourself that you really want only the Holy Spirit’s interpretation. With this practice, the heavy burden you have placed on yourself to make “right” judgments will fade away and you will experience the blessing of being truly helpful in every moment. As you recognize your brother as yourself, you cannot help but be truly helpful. In that recognition you know that giving and receiving are the same.

Letting Peace Lead the Way

Robert and Mary: As we prepare to go to the ACIM International Conference in San Francisco, we are practicing letting peace lead the way. We know that when we stay in peace, we are guided in each moment with what to do, where to go and what to say. By staying in peace, our doing is a blessing because it extends peace.

People have talked about the experience of walking a labyrinth as a meditation. With the practice of staying in peace, our passage through the experiences of the day can be a meditation, an exercise in experiencing Christ Vision all through the day. This practice leads to the awareness of our true Home. It softens identification with the world of form and strengthens identification with the Love we are.

We are looking forward to meeting many of you who we have never met and rejoining with many long time friends. We will be sure to share about our experiences when we get back. If you are attending the Conference, we would love to connect with you.

Getting Settled in St. Cloud, Florida

Robert & Mary: We are mostly settled in here in St. Cloud, Florida, which is just south of Orlando. We are getting familiar with the area and looking for a suitable home for Rev. Annie Arbona to rent somewhere near us. Annie is in charge of the Spanish translations.

We are also getting ready for the ACIM Conference in San Francisco, which is coming up next week. We are looking forward to the Pathways of Light Grand Gathering dinner with Pathways ministers and friends on Thursday evening. It will be a nice opportunity to connect with old and new friends. There will also be a bus tour of San Francisco on Friday morning that is being organized by Revs. Ken Gorman and Sharyn Zenz. There is still room to join for the dinner and/or tour. When we return from San Francisco, we will take time to receive guidance from Holy Spirit regarding a weekly ACIM study group, Joining with Holy Spirit on Sundays and scheduling events in the Orlando area. Holy Spirit guided us to the following quote from A Course in Miracles. “Heaven Itself is reached with empty hands and open minds, which come with nothing to find everything and claim it as their own. We will attempt to reach this state today, with self-deception laid aside, and with an honest willingness to value but the truly valuable and the real.” W.pI.133.13:1-2

This important message reminds me to practice stepping back often today. There is a beautiful song in Spanish titled, “Solo la Luz.” It means “Only the Light.” We will use this as a mantra today to remember to see only Light through Christ vision. Robert’s sisters and their husbands are visiting today. This will be a wonderful opportunity to join in the Light by remembering the Light that is in us all equally. As we remember to do this, we will have a happy day. As we bless, we are blessed.

The Trip to St. Cloud, Florida

Well, we are here in Florida! We have rented a home in St. Cloud where Mary and Robert will continue with the work on preparing translated course materials, DVD’s, CD’s and web site updates as they were in Wisconsin. Until the property sells, Rev. Sharyn Zenz will continue the primary office functions in Wisconsin, including bookkeeping, filling orders for courses, books, etc., preparing promotional materials for ministers, answering the phone and serving as liason to ministers and students.

The trip to Florida was filled with miracles. Diana and Jim Klapperich (long-time members of our Wednesday night study group from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin) came down with us to help with the move. We filled the largest U-Haul truck with what we needed to take with us and also filled the van we have. The morning we started on our journey, we all joined in quiet with the Holy Spirit and committed to following His lead all the way. The trip took 2 and a half days. We all noticed that we had plenty of energy throughout the day to go as far as was needed.

We had an interesting experience along the way that reinforced our need to follow Spirit in everything we did. At the end of the first day of traveling, we stopped at a hotel. They told us that every hotel in the area was filled because of an ice storm that had hit recently in Kentucky and Tennessee. We found out that the electricity was out for about 200 miles and everyone had to find hotels outside that region. The man at the hotel was very helpful and called around to find us a place about 20 miles back on the road we had traveled.

We rested comfortably that night and in the morning Spirit told us not to go to breakfast at a place right next to the hotel like we thought, but to go to breakfast at a place down the road right next to where we originally had stopped the night before.

When we reached the exit to go to the restaurant, the road beyond the exit was blocked because a truck had overturned. The waitress at the restaurant we were guided to told us that the road would be blocked until noon. She gave us an easy detour around the accident that added only five minutes to our trip. She also told us to fill our gas tanks because for the next 200 miles there would be no electricity. We were very grateful for this valuable help and were grateful to Spirit for directing us to this helpful woman.

The area where the ice storm had hit was quite remarkable to drive through. The road we were driving on was clear, dry and cleared of fallen trees. But there was a thick coating of ice on every tree which caused them to bend down and break with the weight of the ice. It was like we were in an ice cathedral. The sun was glistening through the ice and it was quite a remarkable experience. A sheet of ice blew off a truck that passed us and it looked like it was heading right for our windshield. But at the last second it lifted up and went over our van. It reaffirmed to us that we are safe in the Arms of God.

Along the way we read The Book ON… and Jesus Answers to each other for inspiration. We also had walkie-talkies so we could communicate between the two vehicles. We really had a lot of fun. Jim and Diana are wonderful angels to travel with.

We reached our destination in time to meet Abe Perez, the man who owns the property we are renting in St. Cloud, Florida, which is just southeast of Orlando. He was very helpful in explaining everything. We had hired two helpers to take the boxes and furniture off the truck and into each appropriate room. They were professional movers and so they knew exactly what to do and had the equipment needed to accomplish the task efficiently.

Annie Arbona, who is in charge of the translation of all the courses into Spanish, is also moving down here close to us. She drove down from South Carolina to visit us and look for a suitable home to rent. When she came to visit, she brought with her three wonderful couples from Puerto Rico: Elena and Arturo Diaz, Enid and Quintin Rivera, and Pedro and Blanca Toro. Elena and Enid are taking the Pathways of Light ministerial training program.

We had a wonderful time together. We simply seated ourselves together in a circle and put Spirit in charge. We just followed Spirit in the moment and a remarkable healing occurred for all of us. We were filled with a strong sense of peace and joy. We had not met before in physical form, but the feeling of connection and oneness was very strong. We felt that this meeting was the birthing of a new chapter in Pathways of Lights role in Holy Spirit’s plan of undoing the dream of separation.

As we follow Spirit in each present moment, the exact inspiration will come to us as we are ready and willing. An example of this came to us in the last two days when we were expecting the delivery of a new color printer. It did not arrive when we thought it would so Robert called the trucking company that was supposed to deliver it. They told him that they would not have a way to unload the 240 pound printer from the semi truck. Robert said we would pick it up at the trucking location. Yesterday we had a wonderful adventure picking up the printer. The man there was just a delight and it was wonderful connecting with him. Robert, by quietly following Spirit in the present moment, was able to get the printer from our van and into the appropriate room. We are now printing catalogs and Miracles News magazines to ship to San Francisco for the International Conference for A Course in Miracles, which is coming up later this month.

We apologize for taking so long to communicate about our journey, but this seems to be the right time. While Robert has been getting the catalogs and Miracles News booklets made I have been working on Rev. Myron Jones second part of her new audio book on healing relationships. As I have been working on preparing the recording for publication, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and joy for Myron’s dedication to her healing and her sharing her process with us in a way that heals us all. Her work is remarkable and you will really enjoy it when it comes out. We are deeply grateful for having Myron in our lives. She is truly one of God’s messengers of peace and understanding. We will be seeing her soon in San Francisco.

Finding A Location in Florida

Robert and Mary:  Last night we signed a lease for a house in St. Cloud, Florida, which is located south of the Orlando airport. We will move there by Feb. 1st.

Meanwhile Sharyn Zenz will continue to operate the office from the property in Wisconsin, which has not yet sold. You will still be able to contact the Pathways office at the same phone numbers and address until the property is sold. There are two parties interested in purchasing the property, but it may take a while to unfold.

We will be able to have small gatherings at the location in Florida. For larger gatherings we will find meeting facilities in the area. We are looking forward to setting up a weekly teleconference for both our Sunday morning “Joining with Holy Spirit” and Wednesday evening ACIM group, which is currently working with “The Book ON… and Jesus answers.” This wonderful book is in total alignment with A Course in Miracles. We are finding that The Book ON helps us feel Jesus’ kind and loving presence within us as we read. This experience is greatly enhanced as we read and share it with others.

We will set up the weekly teleconference meetings after we get settled in Florida. We will give you the details on how you can participate when we have it set up.

We feel this will be a great opportunity to regularly join with people around the world for the purpose of awakening to the freedom, peace and joy of Heaven which is within us all. We see a great desire in many people to connect for the purpose of awakening. Through teleconferences this joining can be accomplished without the need to travel great distances. We have found that teleconferences can be wonderfully inspiring and uplifting experiences. We look forward to joining with you in this way in February.

The Book ON… and Jesus Answers — A Must Read Book

Robert and Mary:  We would like to share with you about a recent significant event in our lives. We received a copy of the new book published by Project Healing Press: “The Book ON… and Jesus answers.”

It is scribed by Joel Wright, who has made his transition just before the book was published. The publishers are John Hutkin and Rev. Mary Gerard Lenihan, who are long time students of A Course in Miracles. Mary is also a Pathways of Light minister and member of the Pathways of Light Advisory Council. Mary wrote the healing book, The Mentor Within, which was one of the gifts of gratitude given to Pathways of Light members this past year.

As we read the first few pages of The Book ON… and Jesus answers, we were struck by its inspiring simplicity, powerful clarity and its consistency with the thought system of A Course in Miracles. In his remarkable book Jesus gives us understandable answers to questions commonly asked about religion, spirituality and the purpose of relationships. He also talks about many other topics such as other lives and worlds, money, abortion, sexuality, world peace, euthanasia and suicide, global warming and more.

In the book’s introduction, Jesus states: “A Course in Miracles is a book that is solely designed for undoing the mind’s fear, and returning it to the awareness of Love from which it came. The Mirror On Still Water*  followed, and offers practical guidance to those seeking to apply spiritual principles and listen to the Holy Spirit within the seeming complication of the world’s setting. The Book ON… still furthers this practical assistance, but with a more direct and specific wisdom for bringing about true peace in the world, not for a few but for the many.”

When we started reading this important book together, we could hardly put it down. We feel this important message from Jesus has taken us to an entirely new level of willingness to be awakened to the Truth. As we work on applying this in our lives, we have had many questions about the timing and details of our move to Florida. For the past few months we have been told repeatedly to stay in the now moment and listen. We see that one of the most important lessons with every step of this whole process is to step back and let Holy Spirit’s plan unfold in the moment. Following is an excerpt that we found very meaningful.

“Your heart is defined as pure as God’s Love because it is God’s Love. You are much more immense than you can see, child of God’s grandeur! The limits of the body are but illusions that with simple training you can easily transcend.

“But you must leave the past and future to me entirely. You can still make future plans, but do not live in these plans or by them. Leave the future to what Love will bring to you next. It is that simple.

“Keep your heart open and the mind will follow, rather than the heart following the mind. The mind is a terrifying leader. The heart is a minister to peace. Listen and know the difference.

“Miracle workers are in short supply and in huge demand. Choose, then, to join with God and Christ on Their mission to forget the world and remember Heaven. Ask the Holy Spirit in every decision and happiness cannot fail. Bringers of humility and true peace, be glad! Your return Home cannot fail. It is God’s mission to have you remember and learn of Heaven together.” (found on page 244)

This book can help you with the practice of forgiveness that leads to joy

We feel that it is significant that The Book ON… and Jesus answers became available to us as we enter 2009 in the face of all the seeming problems that appear now in the world. The fear that has been stimulated can be healed with the practice of forgiveness encouraged by this book. The consistent practice of forgiveness can make this year a year of joy. It is our choice.

This book is a great additional resource that will support you on your journey of awakening. Awakening is the only meaningful purpose of time. We cannot overemphasize the healing value of reading this book again and again. Once you read it you will want to send it to your friends. It has had a great impact on our lives and we are guided to do everything we can to help this book get into as many hands as possible.

Today I Let the Veil Be Lifted

Mary:  Today I let the veil be lifted. Today I focus on my willingness to let the truth return to my mind. I allow in the Light That brings clarity and dissolves all the false ideas that I have made real. As I let in the Light, I naturally extend the light.

Love is simple and uncomplicated. It has no worries. It has no fears. It is not concerned about the future or the past. Love is. God is. There is nothing else. I soak in this awareness of the truth until I feel the peace it brings. I rest here. I take all thoughts that come up and give them over to this healing gift of peace. All concerns fall away as I give time for this. I put the future in God’s hands. In this present moment I would remember the truth. I would rest in the truth. All is well. The whole Sonship is safe.

Robert:  The goal of A Course in Miracles is to awaken us to the recognition that we remain in Heaven, we remain in Love. We are told that to awaken we must be willing to question every value that we hold. We experience being in separate bodies in a world of separate forms because we have chosen to trust or value the belief in separation. All decisions are based on this belief until we are willing to question and let go of it. Because it is illusion, the world of separate forms is highly unstable. In our attempts to make some semblance of stability, we try to hang on to the past and make the future like the past. Even if the past seemed to hold pain, we will often continue to recreate circumstances that seem to bring up the old pain again and again. Yet this need not be.

As we begin to let go of old beliefs and values, the world seems even more chaotic and unstable. But this is only because we have not yet learned to recognize where real stability lies, where we will find our perfect safety. Safety lies in the changelessness of Love. To experience this certainty and peace we must relinquish our values of meaningless forms of separation. We must be willing to let go of substitutes for peace, substitutes for happiness, substitutes for Love. These substitutes prevent us from recognizing that love and peace and joy are our inheritance, given us in our creation by Love Itself.

This process of letting go and making way for truth is described in the Manual for Teachers in the section on the development of trust. We are learning to withdraw our trust in false images and replace it with trust in the changelessness of Love. Because of our investment in the belief in separation and the world we have made based on that belief, this shift in trust seems to take great effort. It will take great effort until we realize that all we really need to do is accept what is already ours and that nothing else has any value whatsoever. But reaching this point requires a complete reversal of everything we have thought and believed in this world.

At times in this process it can seem as though we are in a void, a period of emptiness. We have begun to see the valuelessness of what we once treasured. There can seem to be a sense of loss. And we are still learning to recognize the limitless gift of happiness and peace that is already ours. This is a time for patience. This is a time to rely more diligently on holding our minds open to the Holy Spirit’s vision. He will show us the way through the void and into the Light of eternal Love, our true Self.

Today I place my trust in the Voice for God in me, Who leads me unwaveringly and inevitably Home to perfect peace and lasting happiness. Amen.
