Awakening to the Heaven of God’s Love

My body is a wholly neutral thing.

I am a Son of God. ²And can I be another thing as well? ³Did God create the mortal and corruptible? ⁴What use has God’s beloved Son for what must die? ⁵And yet a neutral thing does not see death, for thoughts of fear are not invested there, nor is a mockery of love bestowed upon it. ⁶Its neutrality protects it while it has a use. ⁷And afterwards, without a purpose, it is laid aside. ⁸It is not sick nor old nor hurt. ⁹It is but functionless, unneeded and cast off. ¹⁰Let me not see it more than this today; of service for a while and fit to serve, to keep its usefulness while it can serve, and then to be replaced for greater good.

My body, Father, cannot be Your Son. ²And what is not created cannot be sinful nor sinless; neither good nor bad. ³Let me, then, use this dream to help Your plan that we awaken from all dreams we made. (A Course in Miracles, W-294. See also ACIM Lesson 294 Insights.)

The body is an image in the ego’s dream of specialness. In its dream the body is our identity. It must be protected against myriad external threats. Yet it is only a dream image. All dream images disappear when we waken.

God has a different plan for the body. Instead of using it to maintain the illusion of separation, it is used only as a helpful tool to awaken from the dream. We are told to ask, “What is it for?” In God’s plan, it is always used to lead us to awaken. This is its only meaningful purpose, for it leads us to remembering that we are Love and nothing else, like our Creator.

The Love we are sees only Love in everyone, for It recognizes everyone as brother, with Love as our Father. As we learn to see the Love that is our brother, we recognize the Love we are.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us see with the eyes of Love. We want to recognize our brothers for What they are in truth — extensions of God’s Love. With this recognition, we awaken from the dream of fear to the Heaven of God’s Love.

Choosing to Be the Love We Are

It cannot be that it is hard to do the task that Christ appointed you to do, since it is He Who does it. And in the doing of it will you learn the body merely seems to be the means to do it. For the Mind is [Christ’s]. And so it must be yours. His Holiness directs the body through the mind at one with Him.

How can you manifest the Christ in you except to look on holiness and see Him there? …Set in [your brother’s] holiness, the Christ in him proclaims Himself as you.

Perception is a choice of what you want yourself to be; the world you want to live in, and the state in which you think your mind will be content and satisfied. It chooses where you think your safety lies, at your decision. It reveals yourself to you as you would have you be. …Perception is a part of what it is your purpose to behold, for means and end are never separate. And thus you learn what seems to have a life apart has none.

Our function is to see the Christ, the Son of God, in every brother. This is how we manifest the Christ. As we learn to see the Christ in every brother, we learn of the Christ in us. Our perception reflects back to us the truth of What we are, when we perceive Him in our brother.

What we perceive teaches us what we are. Our perception is determined by the goal we seek. If our goal is to be separate, our perception teaches us that separation is real. If our goal is to perceive the Truth in our brother, our perception teaches us we are one in the Christ That is the Truth in every brother.

In every moment we choose the goal we seek. Today let us join with our brothers in the one goal that teaches us we are God’s Son, complete and whole, united with our Father in the oneness of His Love.

Remembering the Peace Within

Light and joy and peace abide in me.

²I am the home of light and joy and peace. ³I welcome them into the home I share with God, because I am a part of Him.

I am as God created me.

²I will remain forever as I was, created by the Changeless like Himself. ³And I am one with Him, and He with me. (A Course in Miracles, W-112.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 112 Insights.)

When we believe the dream in which we are a body is real, it does not seem that light and joy and peace abide in us. Our belief in the dream stands as a barrier against experiencing our Reality.

But when we accept that we are as God created us, we see a different world. We do not give creedance to the body and what it seems to see. Our true Self sees only with the eyes of Love. These eyes are not physical. They are the eyes of Christ, which sees only the Reality of Love. This is the Light in which we see truly.

Today we are called to forgive the wish that made the dream of separation. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can remember we are the Self God created forever one with Himself. We are thankful that we have His help to awaken from the dream and remember we are forever one with our Creator.

Letting the Light of Love Shine Brighter

I feel the Love of God within me now.

There is a light in you the world can not perceive. ²And with its eyes you will not see this light, for you are blinded by the world. ³Yet you have eyes to see it. ⁴It is there for you to look upon. ⁵It was not placed in you to be kept hidden from your sight. ⁶This light is a reflection of the thought we practice now. ⁷To feel the Love of God within you is to see the world anew, shining in innocence, alive with hope, and blessed with perfect charity and love.

Who could feel fear in such a world as this? ²It welcomes you, rejoices that you came, and sings your praises as it keeps you safe from every form of danger and of pain. ³It offers you a warm and gentle home in which to stay a while. ⁴It blesses you throughout the day, and watches through the night as silent guardian of your holy sleep. ⁵It sees salvation in you, and protects the light in you, in which it sees its own.

Only our wish for specialness keeps us from seeing the presence of Love in everyone, everywhere. This wish for specialness appears as bodies and myriad forms. It brings with it the ideas of time and space which reinforce the perception of separation that is required to make specialness seem real.

This is what we must forgive, with the Holy Spirit’s help. His vision looks past form, for it does not give form reality. It sees only Love.

As we practice choosing Christ’s vision, the Light of Love shines brighter in our world. Our unity with every brother becomes more clear. Forgiveness welcomes Love and appearances that cause fear diminish. We feel the Love of God within. Joy replaces sadness. Gratitude fills our heart, for we remember we dwell in Love.

Remembering God’s Love Is Ours

If you are trusting in your own strength, you have every reason to be apprehensive, anxious and fearful. ²What can you predict or control? ³What is there in you that can be counted on? ⁴What would give you the ability to be aware of all the facets of any problem, and to resolve them in such a way that only good can come of it? ⁵What is there in you that gives you the recognition of the right solution, and the guarantee that it will be accomplished?

Of yourself you can do none of these things.

God is your safety in every circumstance. ²His Voice speaks for Him in all situations and in every aspect of all situations, telling you exactly what to do to call upon His strength and His protection.

…reach down into your mind to a place of real safety. ²You will recognize that you have reached it if you feel a sense of deep peace, however briefly. …There is a place in you where there is perfect peace. ⁵There is a place in you where nothing is impossible. ⁶There is a place in you where the strength of God abides.

The Course tells us repeatedly that God is always with us. We are never alone. He has given His Son all His attributes. He goes with us wherever we go.

These thoughts are repeated so often because we have believed the opposite. We have taught ourselves to believe in the ego’s lies. But we have another Teacher, given us by God, Whose lesson is that God’s strength is ours. He sees every moment of every day as opportunities to teach this lesson.

We will learn His lesson if we do not let our mind wander. Every moment in which we feel any level of distress or unhappiness is a reminder to accept the Holy Spirit’s lesson. We are not alone. We are safe. We are loved. We are whole and complete, at Home in God.

Remembering Our Strength Is in Love

There is nothing to fear.

The idea for today simply states a fact. ²It is not a fact to those who believe in illusions, but illusions are not facts. ³In truth there is nothing to fear. ⁴It is very easy to recognize this. ⁵But it is very difficult to recognize it for those who want illusions to be true.

The presence of fear is a sure sign that you are trusting in your own strength. ²The awareness that there is nothing to fear shows that somewhere in your mind, though not necessarily in a place you recognize as yet, you have remembered God, and let His strength take the place of your weakness. ³The instant you are willing to do this there is indeed nothing to fear. The ego is a thought that denies Reality. It is nothing more than an illusion. It has no strength of its own because it has denied the Source of all strength. The ego’s presence in our mind depends only on our belief and allegiance to it.

Our fear always comes from believing an appearance is real. Yet all appearances are illusions made by the ego. The Reality of Love has no form and cannot have an appearance. The Light of Love dispels all appearances and reveals our oneness with our Creator. This fact revealed makes it clear that we have nothing to fear.

God’s strength is ours. There is nothing real that opposes it. When illusions are dispelled, we are certain of our invulnerability. We rest in God. Today we ask for Christ’s vision to help us see past illusions to Love’s presence.

The Only Meaningful Use of Time

Reality is never frightening. ³It is impossible that it could upset me. ⁴Reality brings only perfect peace. ⁵When I am upset, it is always because I have replaced reality with illusions I made up. ⁶The illusions are upsetting because I have given them reality, and thus regard reality as an illusion. ⁷Nothing in God’s creation is affected in any way by this confusion of mine. ⁸I am always upset by nothing.

I see only my own thoughts, and my mind is preoccupied with the past. ³What, then, can I see as it is? ⁴Let me remember that I look on the past to prevent the present from dawning on my mind. ⁵Let me understand that I am trying to use time against God. ⁶Let me learn to give the past away, realizing that in so doing I am giving up nothing. Time is a measure of change. But Love is eternal and changeless. There is no need to measure time when there is no change. Our true Self is Love and nothing else. Being an extension of Love, forever one with It, our true Self is changeless and eternal.

In every now moment, we have the option to let go of the past we have carried in our split mind and welcome changeless Love. We let go of the false image and accept the timelessness of our true Self. This is what forgiveness does. It is the only meaningful use of time in the dream. It leads to awakening to the truth that we are changeless Love, along with every brother.
