Accepting the Will We Share with God

This is my holy instant of release.

Father, it is today that I am free, because my will is Yours. ²I thought to make another will. ³Yet nothing that I thought apart from You exists. ⁴And I am free because I was mistaken, and did not affect my own reality at all by my illusions. ⁵Now I give them up, and lay them down before the feet of truth, to be removed forever from my mind. ⁶This is my holy instant of release. ⁷Father, I know my will is one with Yours.

And so today we find our glad return to Heaven, which we never really left. ²The Son of God this day lays down his dreams. ³The Son of God this day comes home again, released from sin and clad in holiness, with his right mind restored to him at last. The Course offers us many ways to look at our experience in the world. But at their core, they bring us one message: The world of form, of separation and loss, is not our will and therefore it is not real. The Will of our true Self is one with God’s. In any instant of full acceptance of this fact, we return to the Heaven of God’s Love.

We are not the ego, the wish for specialness. But we have invested heavily in this wish. We have come to believe that we are a body, different from all others. This belief stands as a barrier against knowing our true will.

We can take a step today toward accepting our true will by reminding ourselves that we are not a body. We are willing to let Love guide our thoughts and actions. We ask the Holy Spirit to add His strength to our willingness to accept the truth. With this practice, our release to awareness of our Home in Heaven grows more clear.

Becoming Vigilant for God’s Love

²My mind holds only what I think with God.

³That is a fact, and represents the truth of What you are and What your Father is. ⁴It is this thought by which the Father gave creation to the Son, establishing the Son as co-creator with Himself. ⁵It is this thought that fully guarantees salvation to the Son. ⁶For in his mind no thoughts can dwell but those his Father shares. ⁷Lack of forgiveness blocks this thought from his awareness. ⁸Yet it is forever true.

²Because [forms] are illusions, they are not perceived to be but what they are; defenses that protect your unforgiving thoughts from being seen and recognized. ³Their purpose is to show you something else, and hold correction off through self-deceptions made to take its place.

²Open your mind, and clear it of all thoughts that would deceive, and let this thought alone engage it fully, and remove the rest:

³My mind holds only what I think with God.

⁴Five minutes with this thought will be enough to set the day along the lines which God appointed, and to place His Mind in charge of all the thoughts you will receive that day.

They will not come from you alone, for they will all be shared with Him. ²And so each one will bring the message of His Love to you, returning messages of yours to Him. ³So will communion with the Lord of Hosts be yours, as He Himself has willed it be. (A Course in Miracles, W-rIV.in.2:2-8;3:2-3;5:2-4;6:1-3)

There are only two orders of thought. The ego-based thoughts make illusions of form as decoys to prevent us from recognizing our real thoughts. The thoughts we share with God are our only real thoughts. They always extend His Love.

As we clear away the decoys the ego made to let our mind focus on the thoughts we share with God, we dwell in peace and happiness. There is no conflict, for Love does not judge. There is no fear because only Love is real. Fear only seems to occur when we believe lack of Love is true.

We dedicate today to welcome God’s Love in our mind. It takes vigilance for Love only because we have established a habit of being vigilant against His Love. We have already established the power we have given to habits.

Now we will use this power to form a habit of vigilance for Love to undo all our habits that stand as barriers against Love’s presence. We are worthy of the effort. God has promised we will succeed because the goal is simply to accept only the truth of His Love.

Opening Our Mind to Accept God’s Love

I am as God created me.

Today we continue with the one idea which brings complete salvation; the one statement which makes all forms of temptation powerless; the one thought which renders the ego silent and entirely undone. ²You are as God created you. ³The sounds of this world are still, the sights of this world disappear, and all the thoughts that this world ever held are wiped away forever by this one idea. ⁴Here is salvation accomplished. ⁵Here is sanity restored.

True light is strength, and strength is sinlessness. ²If you remain as God created you, you must be strong and light must be in you. ³He Who ensured your sinlessness must be the guarantee of strength and light as well. ⁴You are as God created you.”

³I am as God created me.
⁴I am His Son eternally.

⁵Now try to reach the Son of God in you. ⁶This is the Self that never sinned, nor made an image to replace reality. ⁷This is the Self that never left Its home in God to walk the world uncertainly. ⁸This is the Self that knows no fear, nor could conceive of loss or suffering or death.

…be sure to respond to anyone who seems to irritate you with these words:

⁶You are as God created you.
⁷You are His Son eternally. (A Course in Miracles, W-94.1;2:1–4;3:3-8;5:5-7)

God gave all of Himself to His Creation. All of His attributes are shared wholly with His Son. He has but one Son who appears as many in the ego’s thought system of separation. But belief does not change Reality.

There is but one problem that takes many forms in the dream — the belief that we have successfully separated from our Creator. This belief must be undone for us to remember that we now and forever have all of God’s strength, His Love, peace and joy.

Today’s practice will help us open our minds to this Reality. As we remind ourselves that we are as God created us and everyone we see is as God created them, we open our minds to true perception that sees only the innocence of Love’s oneness.

With true perception we recognize that no form in the world was made by God. Beyond all form is the eternal, changeless Love of God. This is our Home and where we remember we dwell forever. This change of mind is our release from fear and guilt, and our return to Love.

We Walk with God

⁴You cannot walk the world apart from God, because you could not be without Him. ⁵He is what your life is. ⁶Where you are He is. ⁷There is one life. ⁸That life you share with Him. ⁹Nothing can be apart from Him and live.

There is a light in you which cannot die; whose presence is so holy that the world is sanctified because of you.

This is the way salvation works. ²As you step back, the light in you steps forward and encompasses the world.

“Who walks with me?” ²This question should be asked a thousand times a day, till certainty has ended doubting and established peace. ³Today let doubting cease. ⁴God speaks for you in answering your question with these words:

⁵I walk with God in perfect holiness. ⁶I light the world, I light my mind and all the minds which God created one with me. (A Course in Miracles, W-156.2:4-9;4:1;6:1-2;8. See also ACIM Lesson 156 Insights.)

We need to step back from our misidentification with a body and a separate self. This misidentification comes from belief that we are separate from the Source of all Life. This false self is therefore lifeless, though it dreams of a loveless life. This dream embodies guilt and fear, lack and loss because it denies the Life we live in God.

If we are willing to step back from this identification to welcome our eternal unity with the Source of Life, we return to being the Light of holiness. This is What we are in truth, for we share all the attributes of our Creator.

Today we choose to no longer hide this Light behind a false image. We choose to accept the Life we live in Love. With this acceptance, we experience the peace and joy of our natural Habitat. We remember we walk with God in perfect holiness.

Restoring Our Memory of God’s Love

⁵Listen, and see if you remember an ancient song you knew so long ago and held more dear than any melody you taught yourself to cherish since.

Beyond the body, beyond the sun and stars, past everything you see and yet somehow familiar, is an arc of golden light that stretches as you look into a great and shining circle. …⁵Within it everything is joined in perfect continuity. ⁶Nor is it possible to imagine that anything could be outside, for there is nowhere that this light is not.

This is the vision of the Son of God, whom you know well. ²Here is the sight of him who knows his Father. ³Here is the memory of what you are; a part of this, with all of it within, and joined to all as surely as all is joined in you. ⁴Accept the vision that can show you this, and not the body. ⁵You know the ancient song, and know it well. ⁶Nothing will ever be as dear to you as is this ancient hymn of love the Son of God sings to his Father still.

⁶The light in one awakens it in all. ⁷And when you see it in your brother, you are remembering for everyone. (A Course in Miracles, T-21.I.7:5;8:1,5-6;9;10:6-7. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

We have a vision that is not of this world. It is the vision of Christ, our true Self. This Self sees only the oneness of Love; It sees Itself in every brother, recognizing his innocence. As we accept this vision, our mind is at peace, for it remembers its unity in the Mind of God.

When we awaken in the Mind of our true Self, our heart sings with the joy of unlimited flow of Love. This is our inheritance. It is forever our Reality and our Home.

We all go Home together because we remember that we could never apart. We awaken as we forgive the appearance of differences and separation. We are one Self, united with our Creator in the Universe of Love. We no longer wander in the ego’s wilderness of lovelessness. We accept the Light of Love, which dispels the darkness of lovelessness and restores our memory of the Love we share with God.

Accepting a Touch of Heaven

No one remains in hell, for no one can abandon his Creator, nor affect His perfect, timeless and unchanging Love. ²You will find Heaven. ³Everything you seek but this will fall away. ⁴Yet not because it has been taken from you. ⁵It will go because you do not want it. ⁶You will reach the goal you really want as certainly as God created you in sinlessness.

⁵For several minutes watch your mind and see, although your eyes are closed, the senseless world you think is real. ⁶Review the thoughts as well which are compatible with such a world, and which you think are true. ⁷Then let them go, and sink below them to the holy place where they can enter not. ⁸There is a door beneath them in your mind, which you could not completely lock to hide what lies beyond.

Put out your hand, and see how easily the door swings open with your one intent to go beyond it. ²Angels light the way, so that all darkness vanishes, and you are standing in a light so bright and clear that you can understand all things you see.

You cannot fail today. ²There walks with you the Spirit Heaven sent you, that you might approach this door some day, and through His aid slip effortlessly past it, to the light. ³Today that day has come. (A Course in Miracles, W-131.5:1-6;11:5-8;13:1-2;14:1-3. See also ACIM Lesson 131 Insights.)

Today can be the day that we stand at the open door to Heaven. We can pass through that door, provided we bring no baggage from the past. Heaven is now. It has no past. To prepare ourselves to go through the door to Heaven, we must be willing to let go of our treasured past. All the things of the world we see are representations of our past remembrance. They are not real, but we drag them with us when we value any form in the world.

Even if we are not yet ready to wholly release the past, we can experience the touch of Heaven. Today’s exercise guides us to a peaceful place in our mind where we can, perhaps just for a moment, lay aside the things of the world. The Holy Spirit is there to support us and give us His strength to reinforce our willingness to accept What God has given us. His Love is ours now and forever. We come with open hands, free of the past to receive the Love that is ours now.

Let Our Love Light Shine

The peace of God is shining in me now.

Why wait for Heaven? ²Those who seek the light are merely covering their eyes. ³The light is in them now. ⁴Enlightenment is but a recognition, not a change at all. …⁷It is the only thing you bring with you from Him Who is your Source. ⁸It shines in you because it lights your home, and leads you back to where it came from and you are at home.”

This light can not be lost. …⁵It is not difficult to look within, for there all vision starts. ⁶There is no sight, be it of dreams or from a truer Source, that is not but the shadow of the seen through inward vision. ⁷There perception starts, and there it ends. ⁸It has no source but this.

The peace of God is shining in you now, and from your heart extends around the world. ²It pauses to caress each living thing, and leaves a blessing with it that remains forever and forever.

The peace of God can never be contained. ²Who recognizes it within himself must give it. ³And the means for giving it are in his understanding. ⁴He forgives because he recognized the truth in him. (A Course in Miracles, W-188.1:1-3,7-8;2:1,5-8;3:1-2;5:1-4. See also ACIM Lesson 188 Insights.)

The Light of God’s peace shines in us now. It is a Light Whose brilliance never ends, though it can be blocked by shadows of denial. Today we choose to forgive the mistaken thoughts which deny the Light of Love we are.

Each time we forgive, our beacon of Light grows brighter, showing the way to those who seem to wander in darkness. As we join with our brothers, we light the way Home to the eternal presence of Love.
