The Only Decision We Need to Make

Salvation is the recognition that the truth is true, and nothing else is true. …⁵Truth cannot have an opposite.

As God created you, you must remain unchangeable, with transitory states by definition false. ²And that includes all shifts in feeling, alterations in conditions of the body and the mind; in all awareness and in all response. ³This is the all-inclusiveness which sets the truth apart from falsehood, and the false kept separate from the truth, as what it is.

Let us today be truly humble, and accept what we have made as what it is. ²The power of decision is our own. ³Decide but to accept your rightful place as co-creator of the universe, and all you think you made will disappear. ⁴What rises to awareness then will be all that there ever was, eternally as it is now. ⁵And it will take the place of self-deceptions made but to usurp the altar to the Father and the Son.”

God’s universe is universal Love, eternal and unchanging. It has no separate parts, no differences. As God’s Son, we are encompassed by His Love, His Universe. This is our reality. It keeps us in Its changelessness, protected from any change or loss at all. It is our safety and our refuge, now and forever.

When we chose to accept the ego’s quest for specialness and the separation specialness requires, we decided against our Creator. We could not change Creation. But we could make a dream that hides God’s Universe from our awareness. This dream we think of as reality, but it is only an illusion that seems real because of our belief. We can wake up from this dream by making the decision to choose the oneness of Love instead of the inevitable divisions in a dream of separation.

We can change what we believe. With the Holy Spirit’s help we can learn to let go of our mistaken beliefs and welcome God’s gift of all of His Love, His peace and joy. This is our choice today.

The Voice That Leads to Happiness

Let us not fight our function. ²We did not establish it. ³It is not our idea. ⁴The means are given us by which it will be perfectly accomplished. ⁵All that we are asked to do is to accept our part in genuine humility, and not deny with self-deceiving arrogance that we are worthy. ⁶What is given us to do, we have the strength to do. ⁷Our minds are suited perfectly to take the part assigned to us by One Who knows us well.

All false humility we lay aside today, that we may listen to God’s Voice reveal to us what He would have us do. ²We do not doubt our adequacy for the function He will offer us. ³We will be certain only that He knows our strengths, our wisdom and our holiness. ⁴And if He deems us worthy, so we are. ⁵It is but arrogance that judges otherwise.

Do as God’s Voice directs. ²And if It asks a thing of you which seems impossible, remember Who it is that asks, and who would make denial. ³Then consider this; which is more likely to be right? ⁴The Voice that speaks for the Creator of all things, Who knows all things exactly as they are, or a distorted image of yourself, confused, bewildered, inconsistent and unsure of everything? ⁵Let not its voice direct you. ⁶Hear instead a certain Voice, which tells you of a function given you by your Creator Who remembers you, and urges that you now remember Him.

⁴He has Thoughts which answer every need His Son perceives, although He sees them not. ⁵For Love must give, and what is given in His Name takes on the form most useful in a world of form. (A Course in Miracles, W-186.2;4;12;13:4-5. See also ACIM Lesson 186 Insights.)

God’s Will for His Son is perfect happiness. To be happy, we only need to accept that His Will and our own are one and the same. The world we experience of fear and guilt is the effect of denying God’s Will for His Son.

Forgiveness of our denial releases the world along with us to be happy, to extend the Love of God without limit. We have accepted a voice that denies Love and tries to offer a substitute. This voice will always lead us away from Love.

Yet our true Self remembers the Love we are. It calls us to awaken from the nightmare of lovelessness. It offers us the means to awaken through forgiveness. As we forgive the images that deny Love’s oneness, we learn that they had no effect God’s Son. God still shares His happiness with him. We can claim His gift with the practice of forgiving our misperceptions. We remember God’s Will is ours.

Joining in a Song of Love

I thank You, Father, for these holy ones who are my brothers as they are Your Sons. ²My faith in them is Yours. ³I am as sure that they will come to me as You are sure of what they are, and will forever be. ⁴They will accept the gift I offer them, because You gave it me on their behalf. ⁵And as I would but do Your holy Will, so will they choose. ⁶And I give thanks for them. ⁷Salvation’s song will echo through the world with every choice they make. ⁸For we are one in purpose, and the end of hell is near.

In joyous welcome is my hand outstretched to every brother who would join with me in reaching past temptation, and who looks with fixed determination toward the light that shines beyond in perfect constancy. ²Give me my own, for they belong to You. ³And can You fail in what is but Your Will? ⁴I give You thanks for what my brothers are. ⁵And as each one elects to join with me, the song of thanks from earth to Heaven grows from tiny scattered threads of melody to one inclusive chorus from a world redeemed from hell, and giving thanks to You.

And now we say “Amen.” ²For Christ has come to dwell in the abode You set for Him before time was, in calm eternity. ³The journey closes, ending at the place where it began. ⁴No trace of it remains. ⁵Not one illusion is accorded faith, and not one spot of darkness still remains to hide the face of Christ from anyone. ⁶Thy Will is done, complete and perfectly, and all creation recognizes You, and knows You as the only Source it has. ⁷Clear in Your likeness does the light shine forth from everything that lives and moves in You. ⁸For we have reached where all of us are one, and we are home, where You would have us be.” (A Course in Miracles, T-31.VIII.10–12. A chorus is made of many voices singing one song. It represents unity where the appearance of separate forms gives way to the sound of unity. Let us join together today in a chorus of Love, extended around the world without limit. As we do this, we become part of a whole far greater than the sum of individuals. Differences fade as the unity of our song brings Love to every brother.

Accepting the Strength of God in Us

Perception is consistent. ²What you see reflects your thinking. ³And your thinking but reflects your choice of what you want to see. ⁴Your values are determiners of this, for what you value you must want to see, believing what you see is really there. ⁵No one can see a world his mind has not accorded value. ⁶And no one can fail to look upon what he believes he wants.

Fear has made everything you think you see. ²All separation, all distinctions, and the multitude of differences you believe make up the world. ³They are not there. ⁴Love’s enemy has made them up. ⁵Yet love can have no enemy, and so they have no cause, no being and no consequence. ⁶They can be valued, but remain unreal.

It is impossible to see two worlds which have no overlap of any kind. ²Seek for the one; the other disappears. ³But one remains. ⁴They are the range of choice beyond which your decision cannot go. ⁵The real and the unreal are all there are to choose between, and nothing more than these.

⁵It is impossible to see two worlds. ⁶Let me accept the strength God offers me and see no value in this world, that I may find my freedom and deliverance.

God will be there. ²For you have called upon the great unfailing power which will take this giant step with you in gratitude. ³Nor will you fail to see His thanks expressed in tangible perception and in truth. (A Course in Miracles, W-130.1;4:1-6;5;8:5–9:3. See also ACIM Lesson 130 Insights.)

We can change our mind about the world. The strength of God in us supports our awakening. We can believe our perceptions of the world show us what is real. With this belief we seem to be its victim and in need of constant defense to protect the little corner we claim as our own.

The Strength of God in us can show us a world in which we are Love, loving and loved. This Strength goes with us wherever we go. When we are willing to accept it, we see the real world which blesses us with kindness and joy. This is the Home we seek but which we never left in truth.

We call upon this Strength today to help us recognize the misperceptions that bring us fear and guilt. It will show us the reality of Love behind the world’s dark shadows. We will see a world of Light and Love. We will see peace and happiness where fear and guilt once occupied our mind.

Learning to Live the Laws of Love

There are no laws but God’s. ²Dismiss all foolish magical beliefs today, and hold your mind in silent readiness to hear the Voice that speaks the truth to you. ³You will be listening to One Who says there is no loss under the laws of God. ⁴Payment is neither given nor received. ⁵Exchange cannot be made; there are no substitutes; and nothing is replaced by something else. ⁶God’s laws forever give and never take.

Hear Him Who tells you this, and realize how foolish are the “laws” you thought upheld the world you thought you saw. ²Then listen further. ³He will tell you more. ⁴About the Love your Father has for you. ⁵About the endless joy He offers you. ⁶About His yearning for His only Son, created as His channel for creation; denied to Him by his belief in hell.

Let us today open God’s channels to Him, and let His Will extend through us to Him. ²Thus is creation endlessly increased. ³His Voice will speak of this to us, as well as of the joys of Heaven which His laws keep limitless forever. God is only Love and His laws are the laws of Love. Love is one and changeless. It creates by extending Itself eternally. God’s one Creation is His Son, the eternal extension of Himself. Under the laws of Love, Its extension must continue extending. As God’s Son, We naturally extend the Love that created us.

The wish for specialness, which is the wish to keep something for itself alone, stands as a barrier to Love’s extension. It denies Love and substitutes images of specialness, which have no life of their own. Only our belief in false images of separation stand between us and the Life we live in God. The dream of separation has its own “laws” made to maintain the illusion of separation. They need to be followed in order to continue the dream.

But we can awaken from this dream. We can learn to let go of our mistaken beliefs. God gave us His Teacher to help us learn to see past our mistaken beliefs and learn that only Love is Real. With His help, we will learn the only laws that truly determine our Reality. We will learn that we share God’s Love and His Will to extend Love without limit.

Accepting Love’s Oneness

Grace is acceptance of the Love of God within a world of seeming hate and fear. ²By grace alone the hate and fear are gone, for grace presents a state so opposite to everything the world contains, that those whose minds are lighted by the gift of grace can not believe the world of fear is real.

Oneness is simply the idea God is. ²And in His Being, He encompasses all things. ³No mind holds anything but Him. ⁴We say “God is,” and then we cease to speak, for in that knowledge words are meaningless. ⁵There are no lips to speak them, and no part of mind sufficiently distinct to feel that it is now aware of something not itself. ⁶It has united with its Source. ⁷And like its Source Itself, it merely is.

We cannot speak nor write nor even think of this at all. ²It comes to every mind when total recognition that its will is God’s has been completely given and received completely. ³It returns the mind into the endless present, where the past and future cannot be conceived. ⁴It lies beyond salvation; past all thought of time, forgiveness and the holy face of Christ. ⁵The Son of God has merely disappeared into his Father, as his Father has in him. ⁶The world has never been at all. ⁷Eternity remains a constant state. The world we see is a reflection of our belief that separation is real. When this belief is wholly released through forgiveness, the world will simply cease to seem to exist. Our role in the salvation of the world is to accept the Holy Spirit’s help to heal our mistaken beliefs.

Each time we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to heal a misperception, we open our mind to the recognition of our oneness with God. This seems to take many steps only because of our resistance. We made the choice to treasure specialness, which brought the perception of the world into our split mind.

When we accept the Holy Spirit’s help we release our attachment to specialness. We have disguised the wish for specialness in myriad forms. Thus it seems forgiveness must be repeated many times. This is true until we recognize that every belief in form is the same mistake. With this generalization we take giant steps to awareness of oneness through forgiveness.

We are on a journey of awakening that goes nowhere, but leads to awakening to our Home in Love we never left in truth. Today we are willing to forgive our perceptions and remember our oneness in God’s Love.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s True Correction

Salvation requires the acceptance of but one thought;—you are as God created you, not what you made of yourself. ²Whatever evil you may think you did, you are as God created you. ³Whatever mistakes you made, the truth about you is unchanged. ⁴Creation is eternal and unalterable. ⁵Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. ⁶You are and will forever be exactly as you were created. ⁷Light and joy and peace abide in you because God put them there.

…for the first five minutes of every waking hour, begin by stating the truth about your creation:

²Light and joy and peace abide in me.
³My sinlessness is guaranteed by God.

⁴Then put away your foolish self-images, and spend the rest of the practice period in trying to experience what God has given you, in place of what you have decreed for yourself.

You are what God created or what you made. ²One Self is true; the other is not there. ³Try to experience the unity of your one Self. ⁴Try to appreciate Its Holiness and the love from which It was created. ⁵Try not to interfere with the Self which God created as you, by hiding Its majesty behind the tiny idols of evil and sinfulness you have made to replace It. ⁶Let It come into Its Own. ⁷Here you are; This is You. ⁸And light and joy and peace abide in you because this is so. Truth does not need correction. It is true and nothing else is true. But errors are simply mistakes that call for correction.

As long as we believe our identity is determined by a body and what it does, we are believing in an error. The complete correction of this error will return us to full awareness of the Self we are as God created Us, His Son. This mistaken belief calls for correction, not punishment. Judgment simply supports a false belief without correcting it.

Our healing comes when we let the Holy Spirit help us forgive the mistake that calls for Love and correct it with Love. This is what forgiveness does. We cannot do it alone. We need to welcome the Holy Spirit’s correction of our misperceptions with true perception. His vision sees only Love or a call for Love.

Misperceptions are the effect of mistaken beliefs. Because the beliefs are untrue and not real, the misperceptions are not real. As we accept the Holy Spirit’s help, we heal the beliefs that cause of our fear and guilt. We awaken to the Love we are.
