How to Have a Happy Day

Today belongs to truth. Give truth its due, and it will give you yours. You were not meant to suffer and to die. Your Father wills these dreams be gone. Let truth correct them all.

Begin by asking Him Who goes with you upon this undertaking that He be in your awareness as you go with Him. …It is your Self you ask to go with you, and how could He be absent where you are?

Truth will correct all errors in your mind which tell you you could be apart from Him. You speak to Him today, and make your pledge to let His function be fulfilled through you. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.107.6:5-9;8:1,4;9:1-2)

Truth is joy. We need only accept the truth to be happy. Insisting that we are separate individuals in a world of separation is the denial of joy. Yet truth remains in our minds. It is the Self we are, together as One.

We dedicate today to the practice of bringing peace to the forefront of our minds and welcoming our Self as our Guide in all our doing. As we walk with the awareness of our Self, all our doing is immersed in Love. And we experience the joy of joining with our brothers in this Self. There is no greater happiness than what we find in the Self that Love created. The way is open to have a happy day.

The Bridge of Peace

Peace is the bridge that everyone will cross, to leave this world behind. But peace begins within the world perceived as different, and leading from this fresh perception to the gate of Heaven and the way beyond. Peace is the answer to conflicting goals, to senseless journeys, frantic, vain pursuits, and meaningless endeavors. Now the way is easy, sloping gently toward the bridge where freedom lies within the peace of God. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.200.8)

Being opposites, peace and conflict cannot coexist. The path to peace in the world is to let go of our judgments that are the foundation of conflict. This is why forgiveness is the path to peace. As we learn to see the world through forgiving eyes, we clear the way to experience the real world, free of judgment, where we recognize the innocence of all our brothers and ourselves. We cannot reach this place without help from outside the thought system of conflict, judgment, guilt and fear.

God gave us this help through the Holy Spirit, Who sees the illusions that seem to bind us, but does not believe them and knows they are nothing. Today we will take another step on the bridge of peace as we practice bringing all our thoughts to the Holy Spirit with willingness to receive His perception of the truth in place of our illusions. Thus we will have a day of peace.

Holding Holy Spirit’s Hand All Through the Day

Today is dedicated to allowing the Holy Spirit to enlighten our minds. In order to do this, we must step back frequently and welcome the Light of Truth into our minds… We give time to letting Holy Spirit’s gift of peace soften all the rough edges that we might not even be conscious of…

We let the strength of Holy Spirit’s peace heal the unhealed parts of our mind… We follow where peace leads… We let Holy Spirit’s peace lead us past illusions of separation to the one Love we all are in truth… We remember that there is never any conflict in Love… Mountains become mole hills when immersed in the truth of God’s Love… And we give thanks.

Accepting Our Special Function Brings Happiness

Everyone has a special part to play in the Atonement, but the message given to each one is always the same; God’s Son is guiltless. Each one teaches the message differently, and learns it differently. Yet until he teaches it and learns it, he will suffer the pain of dim awareness that his true function remains unfulfilled in him. The burden of guilt is heavy, but God would not have you bound by it. His plan for your awaking is as perfect as yours is fallible. You know not what you do, but He Who knows is with you. His gentleness is yours, and all the love you share with God He holds in trust for you. He would teach you nothing except how to be happy. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.V.2)

We all have a trust fund held in God’s Bank of Love. We access this trust fund through forgiveness. It is our judgments that block our awareness of the Love that is held is store for us. It is our judgments that bring the experience of lack, deprivation, guilt and fear. Yet this experience comes from a belief in what could never be true.

God’s will for us is that we have full access to His limitless trust fund of Love. Thus He has provided the means for us to access It — the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our Guide, leading us through the self-made maze of conflict, to help us see that the conflict has no substance and can be let go. The Holy Spirit tailors our lessons to heal the mistaken beliefs that hide the Love that is already ours.

Our practice today is to let Love heal everything by letting Holy Spirit transform our mistaken thoughts so that we accept the Love that is ours, held in trust by God.

You Are in Heaven Now

You keep an ancient memory before your eyes. And he who lives in memories alone is unaware of where he is.

“Forgiveness is the great release from time. It is the key to learning that the past is over. Madness speaks no more. There is no other teacher and no other way. For what has been undone no longer is. And who can stand upon a distant shore, and dream himself across an ocean, to a place and time that have long since gone by? How real a hindrance can this dream be to where he really is? For this is fact, and does not change whatever dreams he has. Yet can he still imagine he is elsewhere, and in another time. In the extreme, he can delude himself that this is true, and pass from mere imagining into belief and into madness, quite convinced that where he would prefer to be, he is. (A Course in Miracles, T-26.V.5:6-7;6:1-10)

Today’s practice is to let ourselves remember What we are and Where we are eternally. The truth is we are still as God created us — we are Love and nothing else. We cannot change Reality. We remain one with Love Who is our Source.

Today we let the past go by allowing the Holy Spirit to reinterpret everything we see and show us only what is true. With His help, we see the face of Christ in every brother and see the eternal in him. Today we forgive the past and let ourselves remember that we are in Heaven now.

Let Love Lead the Way

Today our practice is to let Love lead us all through the day in every way. With this practice, we pause frequently and wait for Love to lead us through each circumstance we encounter throughout the day. Our focus is to step back from doing anything on our own, from bringing our past experience to the present.

We let go of the past and remember that we do not know the meaning of anything on our own. We use today for healing with the simple practice of pausing all through the day to let Love lead. We trust that Love knows the way that is truly helpful for all concerned. And we give thanks for all the blessings we receive as we let Love lead the way.

Accepting Mind Purification

Today our purpose is to accept mind purification from the Holy Spirit all through the day. We watch our thoughts and consistently hand them over to the Holy Spirit. We ask for and receive the Light of truth behind every form, behind every circumstance we encounter today.

This is our only goal. We know that freedom lies within this practice. We rest secure in the knowing that, as we consistently open to the Holy Spirit’s gentle correction, we will receive the inspiration, the peace and the joy that comes with it. And we give thanks that we have all that we need to receive the Holy Spirit’s gift of mind healing today.
