Finding Our Way Out of Limitation

…Let us follow One Who knows the way. We need not tarry, and we cannot stray except an instant from His loving Hand. We walk together, for we follow Him. And it is He Who makes the ending sure, and guarantees a safe returning home. (A Course in Miracles W-pII.324.2)

The ego could not find its way out of a paper bag because it made up the idea of a paper bag and insists it is real. Clearly, it is not productive to turn to the ego for help in getting out of the limiting bag of belief in separation and isolation. But we have right in the bag with us the Holy Spirit, Who knows the way out.

If we want out, we just need to follow the One Who knows the way. It is always our choice. Do we want limitation and isolation? Or do we want freedom and the joy of remembering our oneness with all our brothers and our Creator? Our practice today is to give our attention to the One who knows the way to freedom, joy and peace.

Our Mission with Holy Spirit

We have a mission here. We did not come to reinforce the madness that we once believed in. Let us not forget the goal that we accepted. It is more than just our happiness alone we came to gain. What we accept as what we are proclaims what everyone must be, along with us. Fail not your brothers, or you fail yourself. Look lovingly on them, that they may know that they are part of you, and you of them. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.139.9)

Our mission is to be the Love we are. Having denied that we are Love and nothing else, we need the Holy Spirit to help us let go of the denial and return to full acceptance of the loving Self that Love created us to be. Our dedication today is to hold our minds open to the Holy Spirit’s vision of everything we perceive as we go through the day.

As we accept His vision, we let go of the denial of What we are. The things we have valued in the world lose their appeal and we gratefully lay them aside. What then shines through is the Light of Love in all our brothers and we see it reflected back to us. We feel the joy of a “family reunion” as we reunite with all our brothers in God’s Family of Love. When we have let go of all values of anything in the world, our mission is complete in joyous celebration of our Love.

Today We Let Holy Spirit Purify Our Thoughts

…We watch our thoughts, appealing silently to Him Who sees the elements of truth in them. Let Him evaluate each thought that comes to mind, remove the elements of dreams, and give them back again as clean ideas that do not contradict the Will of God.

Give Him your thoughts, and He will give them back as miracles which joyously proclaim the wholeness and the happiness God wills His Son, as proof of His eternal Love. And as each thought is thus transformed, it takes on healing power from the Mind which saw the truth in it, and failed to be deceived by what was falsely added. All the threads of fantasy are gone. And what remains is unified into a perfect Thought that offers its perfection everywhere.” (A Course in Miracles W-pI.151.13:3-4;14)

The seeming difficulty in receiving Holy Spirit’s guidance is merely the effect of preferring the images in the dream to the unity of Love, our true Self. The forms of the world still seem to offer something of value to us. This is a self-deception that keeps us in fear and guilt, for it is the denial of our Creator.

Fortunately, we were given the means to help us recognize that in truth there is no value in any form of the world. What is illusion can have no value. The practice of watching our thoughts and asking Holy Spirit to reinterpret all our perceptions is how we learn to sort the valuable from the valueless. On our own this is impossible, but with willingness to receive Holy Spirit’s help, we can indeed learn to see with Christ’s vision which sees value only in the Love that is the truth in everyone and all things.

Initially it may seem that our appeals for Holy Spirit’s help are halfhearted and that it is difficult to see beyond the forms in the world. But the Holy Spirit accepts our little willingness and uses it on our behalf to bring us His vision. With vigilance and practice, it becomes easier and easier to let the truth of Love shine through and disregard the made up images that have diminishing value to us. With this practice we progressively experience greater peace and happiness. It is worth the effort.

You Remain Safe in God

No matter what dreams we dream, every part of the Sonship remains safe in God. It is helpful to remember this for ourselves and for every brother, when we hear stories of loss and disaster, sickness and death. We cannot leave God and God cannot leave us, as we are an eternal extension of God’s Love. We are safe in God. All our wild imaginings are not true.

Our opportunity today is to step back and let our inner Teacher lead us out of our fearful dreams of separation, pain and death. We are healed as we allow the Light within us to shine away what has never been true. We join with all our brothers in accepting the truth of our oneness in God’s Love today. We accept the truth that we remain as God created us and we give thanks.

Living in the Peace of True Perception

I will use the power of my will today. It is not my will to grope about in darkness, fearful of shadows and afraid of things unseen and unreal. Light shall be my guide today. I will follow it where it leads me, and I will look only on what it shows me. This day I will experience the peace of true perception. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.87.1:2-6)

Today our focus is on letting Light be our Guide. Light always shows us that only Love is real. In Love is perfect peace. As we recognize the presence of Love everywhere, we perceive truly and are at peace. Peace is all we want today. Believing what the body’s eyes show us is attempting to see in darkness. When we join with Holy Spirit, we let His Light return us to true perception. We live in peace as we accept true perception. What a wonderful opportunity we have today to live in the peace of true perception. This is what today is for.

Receiving Holy Spirit’s Gift

Christ’s vision is the Holy Spirit’s gift, God’s alternative to the illusion of separation and to the belief in the reality of sin, guilt, and death. [Christ’s vision] is the one correction for all errors of perception; the reconciliation of the seeming opposites on which this world is based. Its kindly light shows all things from another point of view, reflecting the thought system that arises from knowledge and making return to God not only possible but inevitable. What was regarded as injustices done to one by someone else, now becomes a call for help and for union. Sin, sickness, and attack are seen as misperceptions calling for remedy through gentleness and love. (A Course in Miracles Preface, What It Says, xiii)

Today our focus is on receiving Christ’s vision from the Holy Spirit. We step back frequently today from our busy activities and leave a quiet open space for Christ’s vision to be received. This world of separation is not our home. We come from Love’s oneness and we make room today for the correction of our errors in perception. As we make room for God, Love’s presence is remembered.

Christ’s vision is all we want to see today. We make room to receive Holy Spirit’s gift. And we give thanks that we receive as we have asked.

I Place the Future in the Hands of God

Place, then, your future in the Hands of God. For thus you call the memory of Him to come again, replacing all your thoughts of sin and evil with the truth of love. Think you the world could fail to gain thereby, and every living creature not respond with healed perception? Who entrusts himself to God has also placed the world within the Hands to which he has himself appealed for comfort and security. He lays aside the sick illusions of the world along with his, and offers peace to both.

Now are we saved indeed. For in God’s Hands we rest untroubled, sure that only good can come to us. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.194:8,9:1-2)

“I place the future in the Hands of God.” This is our mantra for today. It is a beautiful way to reset our thinking back to the truth that we remain as Love created us. In the eternal Mind of Love, there is no past or future. We may forget and forget again, but as we reinforce our practice of placing the future in the Hands of God, we are returned to the holy instant where our mind belongs. We all are of our Father and in our Father’s loving Mind.

His Love is never ending, never limited, never conditional. He sees us as Himself, one with Him and in Him. In Him our safety is absolute. We can rest assured knowing that we are in His Hands.
