Being God’s Messengers of Love

If you will lay aside the ego’s voice, however loudly it may seem to call; if you will not accept its petty gifts that give you nothing that you really want; if you will listen with an open mind, that has not told you what salvation is; then you will hear the mighty Voice of truth, quiet in power, strong in stillness, and completely certain in Its messages.

Be not afraid today to circumvent the voices of the world. Walk lightly past their meaningless persuasion. Hear them not. Be still today and listen to the truth.

Be ready for salvation. It is here, and will today be given unto you. And you will learn your function from the One Who chose it in your Father’s Name for you. Listen today, and you will hear a Voice which will resound throughout the world through you. The bringer of all miracles has need that you receive them first, and thus become the joyous giver of what you received.

Let me be still and listen to the truth.
I am the messenger of God today,

Only fulfilling our function here will bring us happiness. Our function is given us by God — to give the gifts He has given us — all His Love, all His joy, all His peace. We cannot try to keep any of God’s gifts for ourselves alone, for this only makes God’s gifts unknown to us. Inherent in God’s gifts is that they are shared equally with all.

As we let our minds be still and hear God’s Voice, we receive God’s gifts to share. It is in our sharing of these gifts that we claim them as our own on behalf of all our brothers. For what is ours belongs to all. Let us today be God’s messengers by offering God’s Love, peace and joy to all.

Healing Division

Today we will attempt to see God’s Son. We will not let ourselves be blind to him; we will not look upon our grievances.

Then let us ask of Him Who knows this Son of God in his reality and truth, that we may look on him a different way, and see our savior shining in the light of true forgiveness, given unto us. We ask Him…

Let me behold my savior in this one You have appointed as
the one for me to ask to lead me to the holy light in which he
stands, that I may join with him.

God thanks you for these quiet times today in which you laid your images aside, and looked upon the miracle of love the Holy Spirit showed you in their place.

We will remember this throughout the day, and take the role assigned to us as part of God’s salvation plan, and not our own. Temptation falls away when we allow each one we meet to save us, and refuse to hide his light behind our grievances. To everyone you meet, and to the ones you think of or remember from the past, allow the role of savior to be given, that you may share it with him. For you both, and all the sightless ones as well, we pray:

We cannot hold a grievance unless we see the object of our grievance as separate from us. Grievances maintain the great divide that the ego would have us believe is real. Yet what God creates is one and cannot be divided into separate little pieces which conflict with each other. There is no conflict in oneness.

If we would know the truth of What we are, we must see our brother truly. We cannot see him as a body separate from us and see the truth of the Love he is. We dedicate today to choosing the Holy Spirit’s vision in our minds to help us see past all grievances to the Light of Love that is everywhere. As we see the Love in our brother, we bring healing to the great divide. We bring salvation to the world.

Our Self-Made Dreams Are Calls for Love

[Dreams’] equal lack of truth becomes the basis for the miracle, which means that you have understood that dreams are dreams; and that escape depends, not on the dream, but only on awaking.

How happy would your dreams become if you were not the one who gave the “proper” role to every figure which the dream contains. No one can fail but your idea of him, and there is no betrayal but of this. The core of dreams the Holy Spirit gives is never one of fear. The coverings may not appear to change, but what they mean has changed because they cover something else. Perceptions are determined by their purpose, in that they seem to be what they are for. A shadow figure who attacks becomes a brother giving you a chance to help, if this becomes the function of the dream. And dreams of sadness thus are turned to joy.

What is your brother for? You do not know, because your function is obscure to you. Do not ascribe a role to him that you imagine would bring happiness to you. And do not try to hurt him when he fails to take the part that you assigned to him, in what you dream your life was meant to be. He asks for help in every dream he has, and you have help to give him if you see the function of the dream as [Holy Spirit] perceives its function, Who can utilize all dreams as means to serve the function given Him. Because He loves the dreamer, not the dream, each dream becomes an offering of love. For at its center is His Love for you, which lights whatever form it takes with love. The ego’s purpose for every dream is to make lack of Love seem real. While we accept the ego’s purpose, we will see every figure, every event and every circumstance as an image of lovelessness which we must defend against. Even the ego’s “pleasant” dreams are tenuous and can be easily lost. Lasting happiness is impossible in dreams that serve the ego’s purpose.

If we align with the Holy Spirit and allow the Holy Spirit to assign His purpose to our dreams, they become opportunities to extend and join in Love. The Holy Spirit knows only Love and therefore sees every dream as an opportunity to offer Love. The images we perceive may be the same, but their purpose now is always to be truly helpful.

Think of the joy that would fill our heart if we responded in each moment with helpfulness and kindness. Think of the healing we could bring to the world if we responded to appearances of attack with recognition of a call for help. Our natural response would always be to offer loving help. Our dreams become dreams that lead to waking, for they lead to remembering that only Love is real.

Do Nothing but Accept God’s Gifts

The hush of Heaven holds my heart today.

Father, how still today! How quietly do all things fall in place! This is the day that has been chosen as the time in which I come to understand the lesson that there is no need that I do anything. In You is every choice already made. In You has every conflict been resolved. In You is everything I hope to find already given me. Your peace is mine. My heart is quiet, and my mind at rest. Your Love is Heaven, and Your Love is mine.

The stillness of today will give us hope that we have found the way, and travelled far along it to a wholly certain goal. Today we will not doubt the end which God Himself has promised us. We trust in Him, and in our Self, Who still is One with Him. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 286, W-pII.286. See also ACIM Lesson 286 Insights.)

Most of us spend our days constantly striving. Our top priority is to do what we believe is necessary to survive. If we have any time left over, we look for something to do in the world that will make us happy or maybe a little more peaceful. Yet all this efforting simply keeps us unaware that we have already been given all that will make us truly happy and at peace. We do not need to do anything to earn or qualify for what has already been given us. We only need to accept the gift.

The world we see is the effect of denying God’s gift of all His Love. This very instant we can choose to stop this denial. This seems impossible because there are some things in the world we value more than God’s gifts. In particular, we believe we will lose the identity we have carefully crafted in the dream of separation. Yet what we will lose is truly nothing, for it is an illusion. What we will gain is everything, for it is all that is real. It is our real Identity in God.

To accept this glorious gift, we need to be taught to recognize the valuelessness of what we have treasured in the world. This is the Holy Spirit’s function. This is why we need to pause frequently to let the hush of Heaven come in to our heart. This is how we welcome the Holy Spirit’s kindly lessons in Love.

Finding Our Way Home to Love

Would you know the Will of God for you? Ask it of me (Jesus) who knows it for you and you will find it. I will deny you nothing, as God denies me nothing. Ours is simply the journey back to God Who is our home. Whenever fear intrudes anywhere along the road to peace, it is because the ego has attempted to join the journey with us and cannot do so. Sensing defeat and angered by it, the ego regards itself as rejected and becomes retaliative. You are invulnerable to its retaliation because I am with you. On this journey you have chosen me as your companion instead of the ego. Do not attempt to hold on to both, or you will try to go in different directions and will lose the way.

The ego’s way is not mine, but it is also not yours. The Holy Spirit has one direction for all minds, and the one He taught me is yours. Let us not lose sight of His direction through illusions, for only illusions of another direction can obscure the one for which God’s Voice speaks in all of us. Never accord the ego the power to interfere with the journey. It has none, because the journey is the way to what is true. Leave all illusions behind, and reach beyond all attempts of the ego to hold you back. I go before you because I am beyond the ego. Reach, therefore, for my hand because you want to transcend the ego. My strength will never be wanting, and if you choose to share it you will do so. I give [my strength] willingly and gladly, because I need you as much as you need me. (A Course in Miracles, T-8.V.5-6. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Everyone in the world feels lost because we are not at Home. We are all searching to find our way back. If we follow the ego’s direction, we will not find our way because the ego does not want to find it. This is why we need to follow the part of our mind that remembers the truth.

Jesus symbolizes the part of our mind that has wholly accepted the truth and rejected the ego. When we accept Jesus’ help, we are accepting the help of our holy Mind. The Mind of our true Self is wholly united with the Mind of God and shares all of God’s strength. When we choose to take Jesus’ hand because we are willing to accept his help, we are choosing to join with the Mind of our one Self and the Mind of God. Thus we are choosing to accept the strength of God in us, which does not battle with the ego. The Mind that knows Its invincibility sees no need to defend or conquer.

Today we join with the Mind of our one Self by symbolically taking Jesus’ hand and accepting God’s strength as ours. By so doing we accept that our will is one with God’s Will. This is how we find peace and happiness, for that is God’s Will. This is how we find our way Home.

Learning Holy Spirit’s Happy Lessons

Each day, each hour and minute, even each second, you are deciding between the crucifixion and the resurrection; between the ego and the Holy Spirit. The ego is the choice for guilt; the Holy Spirit the choice for guiltlessness. The power of decision is all that is yours. What you can decide between is fixed, because there are no alternatives except truth and illusion. And there is no overlap between them, because they are opposites which cannot be reconciled and cannot both be true. You are guilty or guiltless, bound or free, unhappy or happy.

The joy of learning that darkness has no power over the Son of God is the happy lesson the Holy Spirit teaches, and would have you teach with Him. It is His joy to teach it, as it will be yours.

Teach no one he has hurt you, for if you do, you teach yourself that what is not of God has power over you. The causeless cannot be. Do not attest to it, and do not foster belief in it in any mind. Remember always that mind is one, and cause is one. You will learn communication with this oneness only when you learn to deny the causeless, and accept the Cause of God as yours.” (A Course in Miracles, T-14.III.4;6:6-7;8:2-6. Because only Love is real, Love is the only Cause. Love can only create like Itself so only Love is extended. The cause of all our pain and suffering is the belief that we are a separate image, disconnected from the Source of all that is Real. This false image cannot be real and so it has no real effect. Only our belief in it seems to give it existence. Withdraw our belief and it will disappear into the nothingness from which it came.

To find our way out of this dark and painful belief, we need help from the Teacher Who does not believe this false idea. In every moment the Holy Spirit offers us the happy lesson that we are not a body. We are guiltless. We are free from self-imposed limitation. We are still God’s Son as He created us. It is a happy lesson indeed.

Today we choose to walk with Holy Spirit and learn His happy lessons that we may remember only Love is real.

Opening to True Inspiration

In quietness are all things answered, and is every problem quietly resolved. …If God gave an answer there must be a way in which your problems are resolved, for what He wills already has been done.

Thus it must be that time is not involved and every problem can be answered now. Yet it must also be that, in your state of mind, solution is impossible. Therefore, God must have given you a way of reaching to another state of mind in which the answer is already there. Such is the holy instant. It is here that all your problems should be brought and left.

Attempt to solve no problems in a world from which the answer has been barred. But bring the problem to the only place that holds the answer lovingly for you. Here are the answers that will solve your problems because they stand apart from them, and see what can be answered; what the question is. Within the world the answers merely raise another question, though they leave the first unanswered. In the holy instant, you can bring the question to the answer, and receive the answer that was made for you. (A Course in Miracles, T-27.IV.1:1,7;2:1-5;7:1-5. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The vast majority of everyone’s time is spent in attempting to solve problems. Yet no worldly answer to any problem is accepted by everyone as right. In a world of separation, conflict is the name of the game. If we want to solve problems, we cannot look to the source of the problem for the answer. The ego thought system of separation can solve no problem because separation is the source of the problem.

We must seek another state of mind outside the belief in separation. This state of mind is the holy instant, found in peace. When conflict is recognized, the first step is to pause and quiet our minds. Then ask to receive insight from inner Inspiration for a new way to perceive the “problem.”

The source of Inspiration is within us all and is available to everyone. We need only be willing to open to a peaceful state of mind. In that instant we can receive an answer that resolves the seeming conflict in our minds. Today we practice stepping back, going within and opening to true Inspiration.
