Extending Blessing to the World

You have need to use the symbols of the world a while. But be you not deceived by them as well. They do not stand for anything at all, and in your practicing it is this thought that will release you from them. They become but means by which you can communicate in ways the world can understand, but which you recognize is not the unity where true communication can be found.

Thus what you need are intervals each day in which the learning of the world becomes a transitory phase; a prison house from which you go into the sunlight and forget the darkness. …And then step back to darkness, not because you think it real, but only to proclaim its unreality in terms which still have meaning in the world that darkness rules.

Use all the little names and symbols which delineate the world of darkness. Yet accept them not as your reality. The Holy Spirit uses all of them, but He does not forget creation has one Name, one meaning, and a single Source which unifies all things within Itself. We pause now to open our minds to the presence of Love… We bathe in Love’s Light… and welcome Its peaceful touch… We feel the comfort of remembering our unity with every brother and our Source… We feel the joy flowing throughout the unity without limit… We rest in It awhile… We feel Its strength fill our being…

In this calm and quiet state, we remember our true Identity is Love… With joy in our hearts we bring this awareness with us as we step back into the world of form… We remember that all the forms are simply symbols which we use to express the reality of Love, Its strength and Its happiness…

The blessing we feel we extend to the world…

We Can Bring Peace to the World

Your peace surrounds me, Father. Where I go, Your peace goes there with me. It sheds its light on everyone I meet. I bring it to the desolate and lonely and afraid. I give Your peace to those who suffer pain, or grieve for loss, or think they are bereft of hope and happiness. Send them to me, my Father. Let me bring Your peace with me. For I would save Your Son, as is Your Will, that I may come to recognize my Self.

And so we go in peace. To all the world we give the message that we have received. And thus we come to hear the Voice for God, Who speaks to us as we relate His Word; Whose Love we recognize because we share the Word that He has given unto us. We can bring peace to the world because God’s peace goes with us everywhere we go. To do this we must let go of our self-made limitations which hide the peace of God from our awareness. We need to shift our identification away from thinking we are a separate individual limited to a body. As we remember and accept that we are Spirit, united with the Spirit in all things, the barriers disappear. The Spirit we are has no limits and is eternally in peace.

Imagine what it would be like to be in a state of peace that cannot be disturbed. Imagine seeing the world from this state of peace. The appearances of conflict fade and are recognized as inconsequential. What has no consequence cannot be a threat and so peace remains undisturbed. As we bring this peace to our brothers in our thoughts and deeds, peace extends through them. We are joined together in the heart of our Creator, knowing that we are loved and loving. We are Home.

Learning Holy Spirit’s Lessons in Love

Only appreciation is an appropriate response to your brother. Gratitude is due him for both his loving thoughts and his appeals for help, for both are capable of bringing love into your awareness if you perceive them truly. And all your sense of strain comes from your attempts not to do just this. How simple, then, is God’s plan for salvation. There is but one response to reality, for reality evokes no conflict at all. There is but one Teacher of reality, Who understands what it is. He does not change His Mind about reality because reality does not change. Although your interpretations of reality are meaningless in your divided state, His remain consistently true. He gives them to you because they are for you. Do not attempt to “help” a brother in your way, for you cannot help yourself. But hear his call for the Help of God, and you will recognize your own need for the Father. While we identify with the ego thought system, our interpretations of reality will always be mistaken. The ego is the denial of reality, the denial of Love. The ego sees lovelessness everywhere and builds defenses against attacks of lovelessness.

The ego sees appearances of lovelessness as justification for defense and attack. The Holy Spirit sees appearances of lovelessness as calls for Love. A loveless perception could only come from a mistaken belief that there could be lack of Love. The Holy Spirit would correct the mistaken belief by responding with Love.

When we react with defensiveness, we do so because we believe we lack Love. The Holy Spirit would offer His gentle correction by offering us Love in answer to our call. As we let our minds be healed, we bring healing to the world. The Holy Spirit is always with us, ready to help us respond with Love in every situation. This is how we learn that we are Love, along with all our brothers.

We Cannot Be Alone

We walk to God. Pause and reflect on this. Could any way be holier, or more deserving of your effort, of your love and of your full intent? What way could give you more than everything, or offer less and still content the holy Son of God? We walk to God. The truth that walks before us now is one with Him, and leads us to where He has always been. What way but this could be a path that you would choose instead?

Your feet are safely set upon the road that leads the world to God. Look not to ways that seem to lead you elsewhere. Dreams are not a worthy guide for you who are God’s Son. Forget not He has placed His Hand in yours, and given you your brothers in His trust that you are worthy of His trust in you. He cannot be deceived. His trust has made your pathway certain and your goal secure. You will not fail your brothers nor your Self.

And now He asks but that you think of Him a while each day, that He may speak to you and tell you of His Love, reminding you how great His trust; how limitless His Love. In your Name and His Own, which are the same, we practice gladly with this thought today:

I will step back and let Him lead the way,

God’s Love is always with us, eternally and without limit. It needs only our acknowledgement, our willingness to accept His gift. We cannot be alone. His strength is ours and we would claim it now.

Each day we need to take time to step back from the busyness of the world. In this pause we open our minds to be reminded of the Love that is already ours. In quietness we welcome God’s peace. We let Him lead the way that leads us to the full remembrance of our Home in the eternal presence of Love.

With this as our foundation, we go forth into each day carrying the message that we are all united in Love. As we accept this as our reality, our brothers join with us on the path of return to Love.

Welcoming the Thoughts We Share with God.

Although you are one Self, you experience yourself as two; as both good and evil, loving and hating, mind and body.

Spirit makes use of mind as means to find its Self expression. And the mind which serves the spirit is at peace and filled with joy. [Mind’s] power comes from spirit, and it is fulfilling happily its function here. Yet mind can also see itself divorced from spirit, and perceive itself within a body it confuses with itself. Without its function then it has no peace, and happiness is alien to its thoughts.

Wait patiently, and let Him speak to you about your Self, and what your mind can do, restored to [your Self] and free to serve Its Will.

If you succeed, the thoughts that come to you will tell you you are saved, and that your mind has found the function that it sought to lose. Your Self will welcome [your mind] and give it peace. Restored in strength, [your mind] will again flow out from spirit to the spirit in all things created by the Spirit as Itself. Your mind will bless all things. In truth we are Spirit. Spirit is one, eternal and formless. Spirit has no limit and is united with the Source of all strength. It opposes nothing, for there is nothing outside of Spirit. Spirit is at peace because there is nothing real that conflicts with it. Spirit is joyful, for Its only function is to extend Love.

If it seems that we are alone, weak and subject to outside forces, it is only because we have mistakenly identified with a false image of what we are. The body is not our identity. We are not lost in a dream world of conflict, uncertainty, fear and guilt. But we will experience that we are in the world when we believe we are a body, a separate identity. It is this mistaken belief that must be healed. As we let our minds return in peace to our one Self, we are healed. We will welcome the thoughts we share with God, the Thoughts of our one Self. This is our release and our freedom.

Today we would welcome the Thoughts we share with God.

How to Awaken to Love

I said before that the Holy Spirit is the Answer. …When the ego tempts you to sickness do not ask the Holy Spirit to heal the body, for this would merely be to accept the ego’s belief that the body is the proper aim of healing. Ask, rather, that the Holy Spirit teach you the right perception of the body, for perception alone can be distorted. Only perception can be sick, because only perception can be wrong.

Wrong perception is the wish that things be as they are not.

All forms of sickness, even unto death, are physical expressions of the fear of awakening.

The decision to wake is the reflection of the will to love, since all healing involves replacing fear with love. (A Course in Miracles, T-8.IX.1:1,5-7;2:1;3:2;5:2. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

It’s helpful to learn that lack of peace or sickness of any kind is an expression of fear of awakening. It comes from wrong perception, which is “the wish to be as we are not.” We were created by Love as Love. Love and fear cannot coexist. The presence of fear demonstrates that we are denying the Love we are. This causes wrong perception, which needs to be corrected. The way out of fear is to ask the Holy Spirit for correction of our perception and to accept the correction. This is what forgiveness means.

We must ask the Holy Spirit for correction because the ego is incapable of true perception. The Holy Spirit will always guide us back to alignment with His perception. He will always return us to Love, our only Reality. Today we practice opening our minds to Holy Spirit’s right perception.

Rise Above to See the Love

Today we offer thanks that Christ has come to search the world for what belongs to Him. His vision sees no strangers, but beholds His Own and joyously unites with them. They see Him as a stranger, for they do not recognize themselves. Yet as they give Him welcome, they remember. And He leads them gently home again, where they belong.

Not one does Christ forget. Not one He fails to give you to remember, that your home may be complete and perfect as it was established. He has not forgotten you. But you will not remember Him until you look on all as He does. Who denies his brother is denying Him, and thus refusing to accept the gift of sight by which his Self is clearly recognized, his home remembered and salvation come. Christ sees everyone as His brother, at one with Him. This is another way of saying Love sees only Love. Our one Self sees only the one Self we share with all. Our true function is to share this vision. But we cannot see this unity if we see anyone as different from us. That is why we must forgive.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, forgiveness sees past the appearance of differences to the one Self we all share. With each perception of differences, our only function is to practice reminding ourselves that we desire to see past the appearance to the Love that is true. Today we would rise above to see the Love that is our Self. That is our function.
