Today We Extend God’s Peace and Joy

God’s peace and joy are yours. Today we will accept them, knowing they belong to us. And we will try to understand these gifts increase as we receive them.

Accept God’s peace and joy, and you will learn a different way of looking at a gift. God’s gifts will never lessen when they are given away. They but increase thereby.

My brother, peace and joy I offer you,

True joy inspires an exuberance that motivates a desire to share it. This joy cannot be contained. Our exuberance is contagious as we share it. This joy resonates with the joy in others and is magnified.

Deep peace inspires a quiet sharing. It carries a deep calm that flows in front of us, stilling the disturbances that appear in the world. This peace is so strong that it, too, cannot be contained. It resonates with the peace in others, joining with it and strengthening it.

As we share the joy and peace of God, it energizes and strengthens the joy and peace in our brothers, who reflect it back to us. The gifts of peace and joy are thus continuously magnified as we share them. We are blessed as we extend God’s peace and joy today.

Taking Responsibility for Our Experience

I am responsible for what I see.
I choose the feelings I experience, and I decide
upon the goal I would achieve.
And everything that seems to happen to me
I ask for, and receive as I have asked.

Deceive yourself no longer that you are helpless in the face of what is done to you. Acknowledge but that you have been mistaken, and all effects of your mistakes will disappear.

It is impossible the Son of God be merely driven by events outside of him. It is impossible that happenings that come to him were not his choice. His power of decision is the determiner of every situation in which he seems to find himself by chance or accident. No accident nor chance is possible within the universe as God created it, outside of which is nothing. Suffer, and you decided sin was your goal. Be happy, and you gave the power of decision to Him Who must decide for God for you. (A Course in Miracles, T-21.II.2:3-7;3:1-6. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

We are given a very clear map with well defined sign posts that tell us which directions lead to pain and suffering and which lead to peace and joy. It is also made clear that we always are choosing between these two options. No one does it for us.

Because of our unconscious denial, it seems that things happen to us that we did not ask for. But that denial is simply an ego mechanism to maintain the illusion that we are separate and alone.

It is good news to learn that we are making the choice in every moment that brings us every experience. Learning this frees us from the prison of the ego thought system. We are now free to choose the direction that leads to joy and peace. That choice is made easier because all we need do is ask the Holy Spirit to choose for Love on our behalf. As we are able to ask without reservation, we experience a world of Love and freedom, safety and happiness. The shadows of fear fade away and the Light of Love enlightens our world.

Only God’s Love Is Real

Christ’s vision has one law. It does not look upon a body, and mistake it for the Son whom God created. It beholds a light beyond the body; an idea beyond what can be touched, a purity undimmed by errors, pitiful mistakes, and fearful thoughts of guilt from dreams of sin. It sees no separation. And it looks on everyone, on every circumstance, all happenings and all events, without the slightest fading of the light it sees.

This lesson is not difficult to learn, if you remember in your brother you but see yourself. If he be lost in sin, so must you be; if you see light in him, your sins have been forgiven by yourself. Each brother whom you meet today provides another chance to let Christ’s vision shine on you, and offer you the peace of God. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 158, W-pI.158.7,10:3-5. Today we practice beholding the Light beyond all bodies, beyond all differences, beyond all form. We practice seeing every brother as the same Love God is… As we practice this we are able to remember that we are the same Love as God… As we practice this, differences disappear and we are able to see Love’s innocence in everyone… As we practice seeing only innocence, we experience God’s peace… We remember that no one in reality can harm or be harmed, because only God’s Love is real… And what is not real is harmless…

Through Christ’s vision we wake up from the ego’s mind set of separation and differences… We remember that only God’s Love is real…

Freedom from Fear

To follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance is to let yourself be absolved of guilt. It is the essence of the Atonement. It is the core of the curriculum. The imagined usurping of functions not your own is the basis of fear. The whole world you see reflects the illusion that you have done so, making fear inevitable. To return the function to the One to Whom it belongs is thus the escape from fear. And it is this that lets the memory of love return to you. (A Course in Miracles, M-29.3:3-9)

We practice today referring decisions to the Holy Spirit with increasing frequency. We refrain from making decisions on our own and instead open our minds to receive Holy Spirit’s guidance.

We open our minds to receive the Holy Spirit’s gifts of peace and Love… We know we will be guided by Love…

With Holy Spirit’s guidance, we become aware that we are being carried… Inspiration comes in spontaneously… Our one goal is to be truly helpful and we receive the wisdom we need as we need it through the day… Our confidence grows with consistent practice… Our desire is great to follow only Holy Spirit’s plan… We remember to ask all things of the Holy Spirit, knowing we receive as we have asked. And we are grateful for all the help we receive.

Accepting God’s Will of Perfect Happiness

God’s Will for you is perfect happiness because there is no sin, and suffering is causeless. Joy is just, and pain is but the sign you have misunderstood yourself. Fear not the Will of God. But turn to it in confidence that it will set you free from all the consequences sin has wrought in feverish imagination. Say:

God’s Will for me is perfect happiness.
There is no sin; it has no consequence.

We are united with the Source of Love within us, whether we realize it or not. As we open our minds to this truth, we are able to feel the joy and happiness that is inherent in the Essence of our being. As we accept this truth, that we are inherently happy and filled with joy, we extend it to the world. Fear thoughts cannot remain as our inherent happiness fills our mind, and we feel safe in Love’s Presence.

All this awareness returns to us as we accept God’s Will of Perfect Happiness.

We Walk Steadily Toward Truth

God’s Voice speaks to me all through the day. There is not a moment in which God’s Voice ceases to call on my forgiveness to save me. There is not a moment in which His Voice fails to direct my thoughts, guide my actions and lead my feet. I am walking steadily on toward truth. There is nowhere else I can go, because God’s Voice is the only Voice and the only Guide that has been given to His Son.” (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 60, W-pI.60.4. Today our focus is on listening to God’s Voice… We open all our inner windows and doors, welcoming the Light of Truth today… We have an open mind and listen… and listen again…

We want to hear the inspiration coming from God’s Voice, and so we are receptive enough to hear it… We let in the gentleness… peace… and sense of well being the Holy Spirit brings… We let in the inspiration for how to be truly helpful in every situation…

We remember that we are walking steadily toward truth by accepting Holy Spirit’s help… We are so grateful we have a healing Partner Who speaks to us all through the day…

Extending Love’s Blessings

Those who would free their brothers from the body can have no fear. They have renounced the means for sin [separation] by choosing to let all limitations be removed. As they desire to look upon their brothers in holiness, the power of their belief and faith sees far beyond the body, supporting vision, not obstructing it.… For all who choose to look away from sin are given vision, and are led to holiness. Today we focus on looking at where we are placing our faith and belief… Are we placing it in the ego’s thought of separation, or are we placing our faith and belief in Christ’s vision? With Christ’s vision we are able to see beyond bodies to the eternal Presence of Love in everyone…

We practice placing our faith and belief in Christ’s vision today to help ourselves and every brother in this world. This is what brings us happiness. This is what brings us peace. And we are grateful to receive Love’s blessings and extend it to the world.
