Living A Course in Miracles — The Decision to Accept Peace and Joy

Remembering Our Eternal Unity in Love

¹¹Holy are you, eternal, free and whole, at peace forever in the Heart of God. ¹²Where is the world, and where is sorrow now?

Is this your judgment on yourself, teacher of God? ²Do you believe that this is wholly true? ³No; not yet, not yet. ⁴But this is still your goal; why you are here. ⁵It is your function to prepare yourself to hear this Judgment and to recognize that it is true. ⁶One instant of complete belief in this, and you will go beyond belief to Certainty. ⁷One instant out of time can bring time’s end. ⁸Judge not, for you but judge yourself, and thus delay this Final Judgment. ⁹What is your judgment of the world, teacher of God? ¹⁰Have you yet learned to stand aside and hear the Voice of Judgment in yourself? ¹¹Or do you still attempt to take His role from Him? ¹²Learn to be quiet, for His Voice is heard in stillness. ¹³And His Judgment comes to all who stand aside in quiet listening, and wait for Him.

⁶There is no deceit in God. ⁷His promises are sure. ⁸Only remember that. ⁹His promises have guaranteed His Judgment, and His alone, will be accepted in the end. ¹⁰It is your function to make that end be soon. ¹¹It is your function to hold it to your heart, and offer it to all the world to keep it safe. Everyone has an assigned function to fulfill. We have wandered down a wayward path in a dream that denies God’s eternal gift to His Son. We have accepted the ego’s judgment which tells us that have separated from our Creator and lost our way.

Now we must be willing to quiet our mind and welcome the Voice for God. It reminds us of the eternal truth that we remain united with our Father in His Love. It was given without limit when He created His Son. As we lay aside the ego’s judgments, we welcome our Father’s final judgment that we are holy, free and eternally at peace.

Setting Aside Our False Identity

God is my Father, and He loves His Son.

My true Identity is so secure, so lofty, sinless, glorious and great, wholly beneficent and free from guilt, that Heaven looks to It to give it light. ²It lights the world as well. ³It is the gift my Father gave to me; the one as well I give the world. ⁴There is no gift but this that can be either given or received. ⁵This is reality, and only this. ⁶This is illusion’s end. ⁷It is the truth.

My Name, O Father, still is known to You. ²I have forgotten It, and do not know where I am going, who I am, or what it is I do. ³Remind me, Father, now, for I am weary of the world I see. ⁴Reveal what You would have me see instead. (A Course in Miracles, W-224. See also ACIM Lesson 224 Insights.)

When we identify with the ego, we accept a fake identity in place of the Identity given us by our Creator. This false identity denies all Reality. It shows us a dream that seems real but has no reality in truth. This dream is like a costume ball where everyone presents an identity that is not real. Nothing is as it is in truth.

It is time to let go of this charade. Our true Identity remains unaffected by the costumes we have accepted as real. As we lay these costumes aside, we no longer see them in others. We recognize our Selves and every brother as Love and nothing else. Love sees only Itself, for It sees all of Reality. We are grateful that our misadventure into a dream of false identities has had no effect on our true Identity, given us by our Father.

Accepting Our Unity as God’s One Son

Let me perceive no differences today.

Father, You have one Son. ²And it is he that I would look upon today. ³He is Your one creation. ⁴Why should I perceive a thousand forms in what remains as one? ⁵Why should I give this one a thousand names, when only one suffices? ⁶For Your Son must bear Your Name, for You created him. ⁷Let me not see him as a stranger to his Father, nor as stranger to myself. ⁸For he is part of me and I of him, and we are part of You Who are our Source, eternally united in Your Love; eternally the holy Son of God.

We who are one would recognize this day the truth about ourselves. ²We would come home, and rest in unity. ³For there is peace, and nowhere else can peace be sought and found. (A Course in Miracles, W-262. See also ACIM Lesson 262 Insights.)

The Love that is our true Self unites us with everyone and with our Father. In this unity there is only peace because there are no differences that can conflict.

When our peace is disturbed, it is always because we are seeing conflicting differences which cannot be real. It is time to let the Holy Spirit help us overlook these mistaken perceptions to see the eternal Love that unites us as God’s one Son.

Accepting Our Reality in Love

This is my holy instant of release.

Father, it is today that I am free, because my will is Yours. ²I thought to make another will. ³Yet nothing that I thought apart from You exists. ⁴And I am free because I was mistaken, and did not affect my own reality at all by my illusions. ⁵Now I give them up, and lay them down before the feet of truth, to be removed forever from my mind. ⁶This is my holy instant of release. ⁷Father, I know my will is one with Yours.

And so today we find our glad return to Heaven, which we never really left. ²The Son of God this day lays down his dreams. ³The Son of God this day comes home again, released from sin and clad in holiness, with his right mind restored to him at last. Today we can have a new outlook on the world. How we see the world depends on what we believe we are. If we believe we are a body, limited to its perceptions, we see a world of differences and conflict.

But when we accept that we are God’s Son, we see a universe of Love, where all remains in Love’s oneness. There are no differences to conflict, no possibility of harm or loss. We remain unchanged in the heart of Love. This is our reality. It is ours to accept today.

Remembering Our Safety in God’s Love

God is my refuge and security.

I will identify with what I think is refuge and security. ²I will behold myself where I perceive my strength, and think I live within the citadel where I am safe and cannot be attacked. ³Let me today seek not security in danger, nor attempt to find my peace in murderous attack. ⁴I live in God. ⁵In Him I find my refuge and my strength. ⁶In Him is my Identity. ⁷In Him is everlasting peace. ⁸And only there will I remember Who I really am.

Let me not seek for idols. ²I would come, my Father, home to You today. ³I choose to be as You created me, and find the Son whom You created as my Self. (A Course in Miracles, W-261. See also ACIM Lesson 261 Insights.)

The body is an ego image of vulnerability. It needs constant vigilance to protect its ‘life’. If we identify with the body as what we are, we cannot feel safe. We will be constantly looking for a place or circumstance where we feel protected. All this only seems to be needed in a dream of separation.

In reality, we are always perfectly safe. We remain at home in the safety and certainty of our Father’s eternal Love. Today we remind ourselves that our true Identity is one with God. Our safety is guaranteed by our Creator. And we are grateful that this is so.

Accepting Our Identity in the Peace of God

Now will I seek and find the peace of God.

In peace I was created. ²And in peace do I remain. ³It is not given me to change my Self. ⁴How merciful is God my Father, that when He created me He gave me peace forever. ⁵Now I ask but to be what I am. ⁶And can this be denied me, when it is forever true?

Father, I seek the peace You gave as mine in my creation. ²What was given then must be here now, for my creation was apart from time, and still remains beyond all change. ³The peace in which Your Son was born into Your Mind is shining there unchanged. ⁴I am as You created me. ⁵I need but call on You to find the peace You gave. ⁶It is Your Will that gave it to Your Son. Everyone in this dream world wants peace. The ego directs us to try to change the world around us to bring us peace. Yet an outer world is only a projection of the belief in separation and differences, which could never be real. Only differences can conflict.

In the oneness of the Love we are, there are no differences. Peace is an attribute of our true Identity. It is our birthright as God’s one Son. Peace can be hidden beneath layers of mistaken beliefs, but it can never be lost. Today we choose to let God’s Voice guide us to find the peace that remains forever part of our Identity.

The Voice That Leads Us Home to Love

Now do we come to Him with but His Word upon our minds and hearts, and wait for Him to take the step to us that He has told us, through His Voice, He would not fail to take when we invited Him.

⁵Sit silently and wait upon your Father. ⁶He has willed to come to you when you have recognized it is your will He do so. ⁷And you could have never come this far unless you saw, however dimly, that it is your will.

²We have found the way He chose for us, and made the choice to follow it as He would have us go. ³His Hand has held us up. ⁴His Thoughts have lit the darkness of our minds. ⁵His Love has called to us unceasingly since time began.

…we need only call to God, and all temptations disappear. ³Instead of words, we need but feel His Love. ⁴Instead of prayers, we need but call His Name. ⁵Instead of judging, we need but be still and let all things be healed. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.in.4:1;5:5-7;8:2-5;10:2-5)

Judging is the way the ego protects its domain from the influence of the oneness of God’s Love. That which knows oneness sees nothing to judge. We seek the Love of God only because we have identified with the ego’s denial of Love.

Our true Self remains eternally united with our Father. Today we remind ourselves that we are Love. We welcome the guidance of His Voice to see the world through eyes of Love. This vision looks past all appearances to the Light of Love that is the truth in everyone, always. We are grateful for His Voice, which leads us Home to our Source, and our true Identity.
