Accepting the Miracle of True Perception

Father, let me remember You are here, and I am not alone. Surrounding me is everlasting Love. I have no cause for anything except the perfect peace and joy I share with You. What need have I for anger or for fear? Surrounding me is perfect safety. Can I be afraid, when Your eternal promise goes with me? Surrounding me is perfect sinlessness. What can I fear, when You created me in holiness as perfect as Your Own? (A Course in Miracles W-pII.348.1)

The key to happiness is accepting that my true will is the same as God’s Will. His Will for me is perfect happiness. Forgiveness is the way I accept God’s Will for me. It is how I let go of beliefs that reflect the idea that it is possible to be separate from God and His Will.

Fortunately, I do not have to forgive through my own effort. I am not on my own. I am not alone. I am always in God’s Presence and His Voice is ever present, ready to judge truly on my behalf.

I forgive by letting Holy Spirit judge on my behalf. This is how I learn that I retain the innocence of Love, along with everyone. This is how I recognize God’s Will is my will. This is how I accept the happiness that is God’s Will for me.

Today my practice is to remember that we are not alone. Everyone is one with God. This is the truth. I would remember God’s Presence in everyone today and accept the miracle of true perception.

Receive the Vision of Christ

Today my practice is to see with the vision of Christ. This is my prayer: Help me to remember the peace that is Your gift, my Father. Help me to remember the Love You created me to be. Help me to see with Your Light, which reveals Christ’s vision to me. I thank You for Your gifts.

To receive Christ’s vision I must be willing to let go of belief in separate bodies. I must be willing to let go of what I think I know. I must be willing to let go and receive the peace that replaces all the stories with the truth. I must be willing to place the future in the Hands of God. I must be willing to choose peace and follow Holy Spirit’s lead. This is how I receive the vision of Christ.

Let the Light of God Within Shine Forth

The peace of God is shining in you now, and in all living things. In quietness is it acknowledged universally. For what your inward vision looks upon is your perception of the universe.

Sit quietly and close your eyes. The light within you is sufficient. It alone has power to give the gift of sight to you. Exclude the outer world, and let your thoughts fly to the peace within. They know the way. For honest thoughts, untainted by the dream of worldly things outside yourself, become the holy messengers of God Himself. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.188.5:5-7;6:1-6)

My practice for today is to consistently open my mind to receive God’s peace. When I allow myself to accept peace, what seems complicated becomes simple. God’s peace and Love go together and help me see the world anew. What is important is to be receptive to God’s peace consistently. This is a very important practice for today.

A metaphor that helps me understand how it works to use the Light of God for all my seeing is to remember what it’s like to see a movie on a screen. Images are projected on a screen and reflected back to me in a darkened room. I can only see these images in the dark. If the lights are turned on (a.k.a. letting the Light of God in me shine forth) the projected images on the screen fade away and the Light of God shining from me is reflected back.

My practice today is to let God’s Light in me shine forth in peace so that I may see this Light reflected back to me in all my seeing. This is how I will recognize this same Light everywhere I look.

What Am I?

I am God’s Son, complete and healed and whole, shining in the reflection of His Love. In me is His creation sanctified and guaranteed eternal life. In me is love perfected, fear impossible, and joy established without opposite. I am the holy home of God Himself. I am the Heaven where His Love resides. I am His holy Sinlessness Itself, for in my purity abides His Own. (A Course in Miracles W-pII.14.1)

My practice for today is to choose to identify with my true Identity instead of the false ego mind. I want to be happy. I want the peace of God. It is there in my mind, waiting for my acceptance all the time. Today I have another opportunity to practice accepting Love as What I am and sharing that one eternal Identity with everyone I meet or even think of all through the day. The happiness I feel that comes with this practice makes the choice of accepting my true Identity easier and easier. And I give thanks.

I use the first sentence of this quote often when my mind is dwelling on some disturbing thought. It is a great reminder that the part that seems to be disturbed is not what I am. It brings my attention back to my true Identity. It does not matter whether or not I fully accept this statement. It simply reminds me of the truth of What I am and sets me headed in the right direction to the full acceptance of my Self as God created me.

Occasionally I reword the statement to put it in second person, directing it toward someone I’m perceiving as disturbing me. It helps me remember I am not perceiving them truly and helps me redirect my attention to the truth in them. With this practice, I feel blessed.

Deep Within Is God

Deep within you is everything that is perfect, ready to radiate through you and out into the world. It will cure all sorrow and pain and fear and loss because it will heal the mind that thought these things were real, and suffered out of its allegiance to them.

You can never be deprived of your perfect holiness because its Source goes with you wherever you go. You can never suffer because the Source of all joy goes with you wherever you go. You can never be alone because the Source of all life goes with you wherever you go. Nothing can destroy your peace of mind because God goes with you wherever you go. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.41.3-4)

My practice for today is to go inward to that place in my mind where there is deep peace… It is there to find when I am willing to open to it… In this place of inner quiet, my thoughts are transformed… Worries are dissolved in a sea of peace… I receive everything I need in the moment to return to the truth, because God goes with me wherever I go.

Feelings of lack, uncertainty, vulnerability, fear, guilt and unhappiness are all symptoms of belief that I am separate from my Source. I return to certainty and joy when I allow myself to sink deeply into the peace of God within. In this peace I feel perfectly safe because I know there is no other — I am joined with the one Self that is Love’s creation.

My practice today is to frequently return to that deep peace so that I may reflect the peace of God in all my doing.

Returning to Present Love

Every brother is God’s eternal Love in truth. I am God’s Love in truth. This is what I am being brought to remember by the Holy Spirit. In truth we share equally the one the Mind of Love. This one Mind of Love is eternal and never changes.

When I get caught up in the conflicts born of the belief in separation, I need to step back and go to my inner Teacher Who reminds me again to rise above the stories of separation and open to the awareness of the one Identity we all share. My opportunity today with every problem that shows up is to step back, relax and allow the awareness of Love’s oneness to return. All that does not really matter disappears in Love’s oneness.

It seems to me that I don’t think about the past very much. Yet I often think about situations that may come up and how I might respond or what I should do in the future. This is just a disguise for thinking about the past. Any story I make up about what may come can only be based upon past experience.

If I want to experience the happiness of my true Self, the happiness God wills for me, I must accept the present, bringing nothing from the past with me. Love is always in the present. Nothing else is there. When I am willing to place the future in God’s Hands, I am letting go of the past and allowing myself to be fully present now.

Today I will remind myself often that I place the future in Love’s Hands. Here is peace. Here is joy. Here is the remembrance of the one Self we all share.

The Gift of Kind Forgiveness

Hold out your hand, that you may have the gift of kind forgiveness which you offer one whose need for it is just the same as yours. And let the cruel concept of yourself be changed to one that brings the peace of God. (A Course in Miracles Text Ch. 31.VII.5:6-7)

As I practice stepping back and open my mind to the peace of God, seeing the world differently comes with it. Big deals disappear. Seeing the truth or the eternal Spirit in every brother replaces the false concept of separate bodies and differences.

That is why the daily practice of opening to God’s peace and extending God’s peace is of primary importance in awakening to the Sonship’s one true eternal Identity. Being open to God’s peace is my primary focus for today. Everything else flows quite naturally from this one choice. And I give thanks.

Twenty lessons in the Workbook have us repeat many times a day for 20 days, “I am not a body. I am free. I am still as God created me.” This idea is the foundation of true forgiveness. It is how we disconnect the Son of God from the image of a body.

When we allow ourselves to feel the peace of God, we open our minds to seeing past the body to our brother as the Son of God he is. And thus we forgive our brother, for we recognize him as one with us in the innocence of Love. In this recognition we also forgive ourselves. This is how we let go of the “cruel concept of ourselves” and give the gift of kind forgiveness to our brothers and ourselves.
