Expressions of Love Lead Us Home

The world as you perceive it cannot have been created by the Father, for the world is not as you see it. ²God created only the eternal, and everything you see is perishable. ³Therefore, there must be another world that you do not see.

Every loving thought that the Son of God ever had is eternal. ²The loving thoughts his mind perceives in this world are the world’s only reality. ³They are still perceptions, because he still believes that he is separate. ⁴Yet they are eternal because they are loving. ⁵And being loving they are like the Father, and therefore cannot die. ⁶The real world can actually be perceived. ⁷All that is necessary is a willingness to perceive nothing else. ⁸For if you perceive both good and evil, you are accepting both the false and the true and making no distinction between them.

…everything true is like Him. ⁹Perceiving only the real world will lead you to the real Heaven, because it will make you capable of understanding it.

⁹The real world is all that the Holy Spirit has saved for you out of what you have made, and to perceive only this is salvation, because it is the recognition that reality is only what is true. (A Course in Miracles, T-11.VII.1:1-3;2;3:8-9;4:9. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Only Love is real. The real world is made up of all expressions of Love in a world where perceptions seem to exist. Thus the real world is a bridge to heaven from a mind that believes perceptions are necessary because we believe in a world of observer and the observed. To perceive only the real world, we must give up our penchant for judging things as good or bad.

The only meaningful judgment is between real and unreal. In the ego’s thought system this judgment is impossible. We must rely on the Holy Spirit to make this judgment on our behalf. The Holy Spirit is with us in every moment.

As we learn to rely on Him for all our interpretations, we will let go of the meaningless distinctions the ego makes. With His help, we will dismiss the unreal as meaningless and perceive only the Love in which we live. Loving thoughts and deeds become radiant stars that lead the way to remembering Heaven, our true Home.

Remembering We Are Only Love

Love created me like itself.

²I am in the likeness of my Creator. ³I cannot suffer, I cannot experience loss and I cannot die. ⁴I am not a body. ⁵I would recognize my reality today. ⁶I will worship no idols, nor raise my own self-concept to replace my Self. ⁷I am in the likeness of my Creator. ⁸Love created me like itself.

You might find these specific forms helpful in applying the idea:

²Let me not see an illusion of myself in this.
³As I look on this, let me remember my Creator.

The ego thought system does not acknowledge Love as the source of Life. It denies that our true Identity is the oneness of Love we share with our Creator. As long as we believe we are a body, we will experience lack of love, conflict and fear. But we can change our mind about what we believe we are.

This lesson is encouraging us to be willing to open to a different awareness of our Identity. When we let go of illusions about what we are, the Holy Spirit can help us remember the Love that created us. Divisive judgments are replaced by inclusive recognition of the Love that joins us with all of Reality. We learn to overlook appearances of differences and see our unity with every brother in God’s Love. God sees us all as one in His Love.

Recognizing We Are Spirit

You see the flesh or recognize the spirit. ²There is no compromise between the two. ³If one is real the other must be false, for what is real denies its opposite. ⁴There is no choice in vision but this one. ⁵What you decide in this determines all you see and think is real and hold as true. ⁶On this one choice does all your world depend, for here have you established what you are, as flesh or spirit in your own belief. ⁷If you choose flesh, you never will escape the body as your own reality, for you have chosen that you want it so. ⁸But choose the spirit, and all Heaven bends to touch your eyes and bless your holy sight, that you may see the world of flesh no more except to heal and comfort and to bless.

Salvation is undoing. ²If you choose to see the body, you behold a world of separation, unrelated things, and happenings that make no sense at all. …⁶Salvation is undoing of all this. ⁷For constancy arises in the sight of those whose eyes salvation has released from looking at the cost of keeping guilt, because they chose to let it go instead.

Salvation does not ask that you behold the spirit and perceive the body not. ²It merely asks that this should be your choice. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.VI.1;2:1-2,6–3:2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Do we want to keep our unique identity in a world of differences? The price we pay for this identity is a “life” of uncertainty, loss, pain, fear and guilt, and ultimately death.

But if we are willing to recognize the spirit in which we are eternally joined with our Creator in the oneness of changeless Love, all effects of choosing a body as our identity are undone. We experience the comfort, peace and joy, free of pain, fear and guilt. We live in the constant flow of giving and receiving Love. Today we choose to recognize that we are spirit.

Learning We Are Only Love

Faith and belief and vision are the means by which the goal of holiness is reached. ²Through them the Holy Spirit leads you to the real world, and away from all illusions where your faith was laid. ³This is His direction; the only one He ever sees. ⁴And when you wander, He reminds you there is but one. ⁵His faith and His belief and vision are all for you. ⁶And when you have accepted them completely instead of yours, you will have need of them no longer. ⁷For faith and vision and belief are meaningful only before the state of certainty is reached. ⁸In Heaven they are unknown. ⁹Yet Heaven is reached through them.

⁵You made perception that you might choose among your brothers, and seek for sin with them. ⁶The Holy Spirit sees perception as a means to teach you that the vision of a holy relationship is all you want to see. ⁷Then will you give your faith to holiness, desiring and believing in it because of your desire. The ego is maintained with the attitude that “we believe it when we see it.” The body was made with limited vision so that we cannot “see” the Reality of Love. We can only have faith that Love exists in the ego’s belief system. The body’s limited equipment for perception makes it impossible to experience what real Love is.

The Holy Spirit will help us with His faith, belief and vision to go beyond the ego’s limited perception. He offers us a way to see past the ego’s limitations to awaken to the reality of Love. Thus the Holy Spirit gives a new purpose to the ego’s mechanisms made to protect itself.

With the Holy Spirit’s purpose, we learn through experience that Love is everywhere. With faith, belief and vision, we learn we are Love and nothing else. When that lesson is fully learned, without exception, faith and belief are no longer needed. All we see and know is Love.

Letting Christ’s Vision Bring Us Peace

Christ asks that He may use my eyes today, and thus redeem the world. ²He asks this gift that He may offer peace of mind to me, and take away all terror and all pain. ³And as they are removed from me, the dreams that seemed to settle on the world are gone. ⁴Redemption must be one. ⁵As I am saved, the world is saved with me. ⁶For all of us must be redeemed together. ⁷Fear appears in many different forms, but love is one.

My Father, Christ has asked a gift of me, and one I give that it be given me. ²Help me to use the eyes of Christ today, and thus allow the Holy Spirit’s Love to bless all things which I may look upon, that His forgiving Love may rest on me. When we let Christ use our eyes, we see only the Reality of Love. Images of separation are past by as meaningless. His vision helps us forgive those false images so that we can look at our brothers as joined with us as the one Self that is God’s Son.

Our willingness to accept Christ’s vision opens our mind to receive His gift of joy and perfect peace. We are only asked for our willingness to give our eyes to Christ. His response is a gift without measure. Today we are grateful to accept Christ’s vision and awaken to our Home in Love.

Welcoming Our Reality in Love

The Name of God is my inheritance.

²God’s Name reminds me that I am His Son, not slave to time, unbound by laws which rule the world of sick illusions, free in God, forever and forever one with Him.

³I am not a body. ⁴I am free.
⁵For I am still as God created me.

The body is a limit that seems to set us apart from everyone and every thing. It limits our awareness to what we can perceive with the body’s senses. While we believe the body is our identity, we cannot know the peace and joy that is our natural state.

We are a mind at one with the Mind of God. All that He Is, we are, for He has shared all of Himself with His one Son. This is our true Identity. This Identity has no limit, being eternal and infinite. It is eternally joyous because It is only Love, and Love is all that is Real.

Today we welcome the message that we are not a body. We are free to be limitless Love, at one with our Creator. In this Love we are joined with every brother in God’s eternal universe of Love.

Letting Love Awaken Us from Fearful Dreams

I am one Self, united with my Creator.

²Serenity and perfect peace are mine, because I am one Self, completely whole, at one with all creation and with God.

Salvation comes from my one Self.

²From my one Self, Whose knowledge still remains within my mind, I see God’s perfect plan for my salvation perfectly fulfilled. (A Course in Miracles, W-113.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 113 Insights.)

If we accepted that we were whole, invulnerable and all our needs were met, we would remain perfectly serene, knowing we are safe. Actually, this is our true state, now and forever.

But we are dreaming a dream that denies our reality. We have made up a self that is incomplete, constantly has needs and is vulnerable to loss and harm. We need to awaken from this dream to find the peace that cannot be found in the dream. God’s plan for our awakening is given us through the Holy Spirit in our mind.

He is the Voice of Truth. He is there to guide us to see the certainty of Love’s reality beyond the mistaken images of the dream. With His help, we forgive the dream, the made up stories of attack and defend. He will show us the Light beyond the dark dream. The peace it offers draws us to the Light, where we awaken to the one Self that is God’s Son, eternally united with our Creator.
