We Are Eternally Held in God’s Love

I can elect to change all thoughts that hurt.

Loss is not loss when properly perceived. ²Pain is impossible. ³There is no grief with any cause at all. ⁴And suffering of any kind is nothing but a dream. ⁵This is the truth, at first to be but said and then repeated many times; and next to be accepted as but partly true, with many reservations. ⁶Then to be considered seriously more and more, and finally accepted as the truth. ⁷I can elect to change all thoughts that hurt. ⁸And I would go beyond these words today, and past all reservations, and arrive at full acceptance of the truth in them.

Father, what You have given cannot hurt, so grief and pain must be impossible. ²Let me not fail to trust in You today, accepting but the joyous as Your gifts; accepting but the joyous as the truth. (A Course in Miracles, W-284. See also ACIM Lesson 284 Insights.)

The proper perception of loss is that it is an illusion, and therefore does not exist. Pain is impossible because it can only seem to occur between conflicting images which are not real. This recognition is the basis for our release from the dream of separation.

While we seem to be engaged in this dream, we need help to release our investment in loss and pain. This is a process only because we hang on to perceived value of things in the world — bodies, possessions, status and relationships with things.

The practice of forgiveness is the practice of letting go of our investment in the dream and making way for the joy of God’s Love to return to our mind. It seems that we have to forgive many different things. But the differences are not real.

Ultimately we are letting go of our attempts to make illusions real in order to maintain our unique and special status. There is no greater status we could achieve than to acknowledge that we remain eternally held within God’s Love, His joy and peace.

Being a Miracle Worker with the Holy Spirit

I am in need of nothing but the truth.

I sought for many things, and found despair. ²Now do I seek but one, for in that one is all I need, and only what I need. ³All that I sought before I needed not, and did not even want. ⁴My only need I did not recognize. ⁵But now I see that I need only truth. ⁶In that all needs are satisfied, all cravings end, all hopes are finally fulfilled and dreams are gone. ⁷Now have I everything that I could need. ⁸Now have I everything that I could want. ⁹And now at last I find myself at peace.

And for that peace, our Father, we give thanks. ²What we denied ourselves You have restored, and only that is what we really want. (A Course in Miracles, W-251. See also ACIM Lesson 251 Insights.)

Peace is restored to our mind when we accept the truth of What we are. Conflict disappears, for it cannot occur in the oneness of Love. Everyone in the world is seeking peace. We do not experience peace only because we have put the ego wish for specialness in charge of our mind.

We can change that choice. We can let the Holy Spirit be our interpreter of everything we perceive. As we let Him be our Guide, we learn the truth that only Love is real. And because Love is one, we live in peace, forever united with the peace of our Creator.

We dedicate today to putting the Holy Spirit in charge of our mind. He will show us the truth of Love’s reality. He will judge all things on our behalf as either real or unreal, Love or a call for Love. Under His direction, we will live in Love and our misperceptions of lack of Love will be healed. We will be miracle workers as we follow Holy Spirit’s lead.

Awakening to the Love We Are

The Son of God is my Identity.

My Self is holy beyond all the thoughts of holiness of which I now conceive. ²Its shimmering and perfect purity is far more brilliant than is any light that I have ever looked upon. ³Its love is limitless, with an intensity that holds all things within it, in the calm of quiet certainty. ⁴Its strength comes not from burning impulses which move the world, but from the boundless Love of God Himself. ⁵How far beyond this world my Self must be, and yet how near to me and close to God!

Father, You know my true Identity. ²Reveal It now to me who am Your Son, that I may waken to the truth in You, and know that Heaven is restored to me. (A Course in Miracles, W-252. See also ACIM Lesson 252 Insights.)

The Love we are is limitless. It is always perfectly calm in Its oneness and changelessness. This is our natural state. When we ask our Creator to reveal our true Identity to us, we are asking to awaken to the truth.

As we awaken, we let go of all artificial values we have given the world. We have opened our mind to remember our unity with our Creator. We rest in this unity in the certainty of His Love.

The Gift That Restores Us to Love

My eyes, my tongue, my hands, my feet today
have but one purpose; to be given Christ
to use to bless the world with miracles.

Father, I give all that is mine today to Christ, to use in any way that best will serve the purpose that I share with Him. ²Nothing is mine alone, for He and I have joined in purpose. ³Thus has learning come almost to its appointed end. ⁴A while I work with Him to serve His purpose. ⁵Then I lose myself in my Identity, and recognize that Christ is but my Self. We give all that is ours to Christ by wholeheartedly relinquishing the ego’s claim to separate ownership. The cost of the ego’s claim is loss of peace, happiness and Love. The Christ Mind is the one Mind united in the Mind of God.

Giving all that is ours to Christ is a gift to ourselves, for Christ is our true Self, our only Reality. We relinquish nothing and remember that we already are united in the Love which is everything that is real.

Our dedication to Christ is our dedication to peace, happiness and Love.

Becoming a Messenger of Peace

Grace is acceptance of the Love of God within a world of seeming hate and fear. ²By grace alone the hate and fear are gone, for grace presents a state so opposite to everything the world contains, that those whose minds are lighted by the gift of grace can not believe the world of fear is real.

Oneness is simply the idea God is. ²And in His Being, He encompasses all things. ³No mind holds anything but Him. ⁴We say “God is,” and then we cease to speak, for in that knowledge words are meaningless. ⁵There are no lips to speak them, and no part of mind sufficiently distinct to feel that it is now aware of something not itself. ⁶It has united with its Source. ⁷And like its Source Itself, it merely is.

³What is the face of Christ but his who went a moment into timelessness, and brought a clear reflection of the unity he felt an instant back to bless the world?

Be grateful to return, as you were glad to go an instant, and accept the gifts that grace provided you. ²You carry them back to yourself. (A Course in Miracles, W-169.2:1-2;5;13:3;14:1-2. See also ACIM Lesson 169 Insights.)

Everyone in this world seeks for peace in some way. If they seek for it in the world, they seek by inappropriate means. Peace cannot be found where oneness is denied.

Our search for peace comes from the longing of our true Self to return to Its natural state, at one with all in the Love of God. Only in Love’s oneness can true peace be found. We will awaken to this recognition through forgiving the wish for specialness that makes the world we seem to live in. The wish for specialness appears in many forms, but they only represent that wish.

We call upon the Holy Spirit today to help us recognize the manifestations of the wish for specialness and forgive them.  We would be messengers of peace to bring healing to the world. Thus we awaken to the Will we share with God. We remember Love.

Accepting the Guidance That Leads Us Home

Anger must come from judgment.
Judgment is the weapon I would use against myself,
to keep the miracle away from me.

Father, I want what goes against my will, and do not want what is my will to have. ²Straighten my mind, my Father. ³It is sick. ⁴But You have offered freedom, and I choose to claim Your gift today. ⁵And so I give all judgment to the One You gave to me to judge for me. ⁶He sees what I behold, and yet He knows the truth. ⁷He looks on pain, and yet He understands it is not real, and in His understanding it is healed. ⁸He gives the miracles my dreams would hide from my awareness. ⁹Let Him judge today. ¹⁰I do not know my will, but He is sure it is Your Own. ¹¹And He will speak for me, and call Your miracles to come to me.

Listen today. ²Be very still, and hear the gentle Voice for God assuring you that He has judged you as the Son He loves. (A Course in Miracles, W-347. See also ACIM Lesson 347 Insights.)

When traveling in an unknown territory, we need to call upon a guide to lead us to our destination. By identifying with the ego, we have put ourselves in a territory that cannot be known because it is not real. Yet our misidentification has distorted our world so that we cannot find our way Home without a Guide Who knows the way.

That Guide knows where we think we are while remembering our true Home for us. He is in the unique position to accurately judge what we perceive on our behalf. His judgment is very simple: It is either real or unreal. Because He can see what we believe is unreal, He can help us with terms we understand.

Today we choose His guidance by letting Him judge all things on our behalf. We acknowledge that we do not know the way. In gratitude we accept His help, knowing He will lead us to only what brings us awareness of the truth. With His help, our mind is healed and we remember only Love is real.

Recognizing the Light of Love Everywhere

God is the light in which I see.

In order to see, you must recognize that light is within, not without. ²You do not see outside yourself, nor is the equipment for seeing outside you. ³An essential part of this equipment is the light that makes seeing possible. ⁴It is with you always, making vision possible in every circumstance.

…leave behind everything that you now believe, and all the thoughts that you have made up. ⁵Properly speaking, this is the release from hell. ⁶Yet perceived through the ego’s eyes, it is loss of identity and a descent into hell.

If you can stand aside from the ego by ever so little, you will have no difficulty in recognizing that its opposition and its fears are meaningless.

…what is needful is a sense of the importance of what you are doing; its inestimable value to you, and an awareness that you are attempting something very holy. ²Salvation is your happiest accomplishment. ³It is also the only one that has any meaning, because it is the only one that has any real use to you at all.

²Try to think of light, formless and without limit, as you pass by the thoughts of this world. ³And do not forget that they cannot hold you to the world unless you give them the power to do so. (A Course in Miracles, W-44.2;5:4–6:1;8;10:2-3. See also ACIM Lesson 44 Insights.)

The Light of Love is within us. It is our very being, all that we are. This Light is God’s Light, given us in our creation. It is all that we are. Nothing else exists.

But we seem to exist in a world of darkness, where Love is unknown. Though we have blotted the Light from our awareness, it remains tranquil and untouched by the barriers that we have erected to avoid Its presence. The effect of these barriers is a dream of loneliness, isolation and lack of Love.

If we are willing to call upon this Light within and let It shine forth, it will awaken us to the happiness of our Home in Heaven. Today we ask the Holy Spirit, God’s Voice, to help us set aside the mistaken values of the world which hide the Light. We want to awaken to Love. We want to see the Light everywhere, for so It is.
