Accepting the Vision of Love

⁴One illusion cherished and defended against the truth makes all truth meaningless, and all illusions real. ⁵Such is the power of belief.

There is no part of Heaven you can take and weave into illusions. ²Nor is there one illusion you can enter Heaven with. ³A savior cannot be a judge, nor mercy [be] condemnation. ⁴And vision cannot damn, but only bless.

Behold the great projection, but look on it with the decision that it must be healed, and not with fear. ²Nothing you made has any power over you unless you still would be apart from your Creator, and with a will opposed to His. ³For only if you would believe His Son could be His enemy does it seem possible that what you made is [your enemy]. ⁴You would condemn [God’s] joy to misery, and make Him different. ⁵And all the misery you made has been your own. ⁶Are you not glad to learn it is not true? ⁷Is it not welcome news to hear not one of the illusions that you made replaced the truth?

All you need do to dwell in quiet here with Christ is share His vision. ²Quickly and gladly is His vision given anyone who is but willing to see his brother sinless. (A Course in Miracles, T-22.II.4:4-5;8:1-4;10;13:1-2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Christ’s vision disregards the past, for it is not real. This vision is based solely on the present and sees all things from this perspective. Only Love is real so only Love is in the present. As we accept Christ’s vision, all perception is interpreted based on the recognition that only Love is real. Every brother is seen as only Love and therefore innocent.

To accept Christ is to accept the vision of Love. It means that we accept our true Self as God created It. We give up our attention to the ego, which tries to cover the presence of Love with illusions of separation and specialness. It tries to cover the misery and guilt it brings with appealing images that sparkle with a false façade hiding the darkness that comes when the Light of Love is denied.

Today we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to let Christ’s vision replace the ego’s denial of Love. God’s joy is welcomed and we rest in His peace.

The Happy Practice to Be Free to Love

It is God’s strength in you that is the light in which you see, as it is His Mind with which you think. ²His strength denies your weakness. ³It is your weakness that sees through the body’s eyes, peering about in darkness to behold the likeness of itself;

Strength overlooks these things by seeing past appearances.

³Truth is a savior and can only will for happiness and peace for everyone. ⁴It gives its strength to everyone who asks, in limitless supply. ⁵It sees that lack in anyone would be a lack in all. ⁶And so it gives its light that all may see and benefit as one. ⁷Its strength is shared, that it may bring to all the miracle in which they will unite in purpose and forgiveness and in love.

Weakness, which looks in darkness, cannot see a purpose in forgiveness and in love. ²It sees all others different from itself, and nothing in the world that it would share.

The light of strength is constant, sure as love, forever glad to give itself away, because it cannot give but to itself.

Truth sets us free from the tyranny of the ego’s lies about what we are. The ego is the belief in isolation and limitation. God placed no limits on His Creation. And He kept His Creation eternally one with Himself. This is the truth that saves us from the ego.

We have been so completely duped to believe the ego’s lies that we need help from beyond the ego to be freed. We already have It. We just need to be diligent in our practice to let the Holy Spirit’s true perception replace the misperceptions the ego offers. We need to fire the ego as our interpreter of all appearances in the world.

We hire the Holy Spirit instead by practicing asking Him of everything, “What is this for? How would you have me see this?” He offers only the Truth. As we accept His help, we awaken to the Self that is our true Identity. Today is another day of happy practice on our journey to freedom.

The Key to Finding Peace of Mind

You are my goal, my Father. Only You.

Where would I go but Heaven? ²What could be a substitute for happiness? ³What gift could I prefer before the peace of God? ⁴What treasure would I seek and find and keep that can compare with my Identity? ⁵And would I rather live with fear than love?

You are my goal, my Father. ²What but You could I desire to have? ³What way but that which leads to You could I desire to walk? ⁴And what except the memory of You could signify to me the end of dreams and futile substitutions for the truth? ⁵You are my only goal. ⁶Your Son would be as You created him. ⁷What way but this could I expect to recognize my Self, and be at one with my Identity? The goal of A Course in Miracles is to teach us how to find peace. Everyone in this world wants peace. Yet part of us is afraid to find it. It’s the part of our mind we call the ego. The ego perceives peace as a threat. Because once we find it, we will disown the ego and its thought system of separation, fear and guilt.

When we put the ego in charge of our mind, we seek peace where it cannot be found. We seek conflict because the ego teaches that if we can overcome an adversary, we will find peace. But the very idea that adversaries exist that needs to be recognized as a mistake. They cannot exist in the oneness of Heaven in which we belong.

We can find peace if we put our direction in the hands of the Holy Spirit. He will help us see that every brother shares our Identity in God. His guidance shows us the Love of our brother so we can see the Love we are. Together with him in Love, we walk the path of return to our Father. We remember Heaven is our Home.

Miracles Come with Accepting Reality as It Is

³Forgiveness through the Holy Spirit lies simply in looking beyond error from the beginning, and thus keeping it unreal for you. ⁴Do not let any belief in its realness enter your mind, or you will also believe that you must undo what you have made in order to be forgiven. ⁵What has no effect does not exist, and to the Holy Spirit the effects of error are nonexistent. ⁶By steadily and consistently cancelling out all its effects, everywhere and in all respects, He teaches that the ego does not exist and proves it.

Follow the Holy Spirit’s teaching in forgiveness, then, because forgiveness is His function and He knows how to fulfill it perfectly. …³Miracles are merely the sign of your willingness to follow the Holy Spirit’s plan of salvation, recognizing that you do not understand what it is. ⁴His work is not your function, and unless you accept this you cannot learn what your function is.

Behold, my child, reality is here. ²It belongs to you and me and God, and is perfectly satisfying to all of Us. ³Only this awareness heals, because it is the awareness of truth. (A Course in Miracles, T-9.IV.5:3–6:1,3-4;12:1-3. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

The first lesson of the Workbook threatens the ego to its core. If nothing we see means anything, then the ego is nothing. The ego responds to this thought with all its defenses. For if we fully accept that everything we see in the world means nothing, the ego would no longer seem to exist.

This idea is the foundation upon which forgiveness rests. if nothing we see through the body’s eyes means anything, then there has been no change in What God created one with Himself. We are not a body; we remain His Son, wholly loving and wholly loved.

We are so ensconced in the ego thought system that this idea is hard to accept. Fortunately, we have powerful Help to learn this important lesson. But we must be willing to accept this help. The more we practice, moment-by-moment, remembering that we do not know what anything means and asking for the Holy Spirit’s vision of the truth, the greater will be our happiness and peace. With this practice we accept the plan of Atonement. We forgive the world for all we thought it was and welcome God’s gift of all of His Love.

Let’s join together in this practice today.

Awakening to the Love We Are

Love is the way I walk in gratitude.

⁷Your gratitude is due to Him alone Who made all cause of sorrow disappear throughout the world. …Who offers you the certain means whereby all pain is healed, and suffering replaced with laughter and with happiness.

²Love makes no comparisons.

…let your gratitude make room for all who will escape with you; the sick, the weak, the needy and afraid, and those who mourn a seeming loss or feel apparent pain, who suffer cold or hunger, or who walk the way of hatred and the path of death. ³All these go with you. ⁴Let us not compare ourselves with them, for thus we split them off from our awareness of the unity we share with them, as they must share with us.

We thank our Father for one thing alone; that we are separate from no living thing, and therefore one with Him.

⁶When your forgiveness is complete you will have total gratitude, for you will see that everything has earned the right to love by being loving, even as your Self. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 195, W-195.1:7;2:2;4:2;5:2–6:1;8:6. See also ACIM Lesson 195 Insights.)

Our true Self is loving because it was created by Love as Love. This Self does not change because it remains united with Its changeless Creator. Our only problem is that we deny our eternal connection with our Creator. The result of that denial is a fantasy world in which separation seems real.

It is time to forgive the denial. It is costing us peace of mind and perfect happiness. We forgive this error in many wonderful easy steps under Holy Spirit’s guidance.

Each time we let the Holy Spirit show us the changeless Love beyond appearances, we take another step on the path of return to Love. It is the path to freedom to be Love and nothing else. We take this happy journey together.

How to Learn of the Love We Are

⁸To order is to judge, and to arrange by judgment. ⁹Therefore it is not your function, but the Holy Spirit’s.

The only judgment involved is the Holy Spirit’s one division into two categories; one of love, and the other the call for love. ²You cannot safely make this division, for you are much too confused either to recognize love, or to believe that everything else is nothing but a call for love. ³You are too bound to form, and not to content. ⁴What you consider content is not content at all. ⁵It is merely form, and nothing else. ⁶For you do not respond to what a brother really offers you, but only to the particular perception of his offering by which the ego judges it.

⁴Every interpretation you would lay upon a brother is senseless. ⁵Let the Holy Spirit show him to you, and teach you both his love and his call for love. ⁶Neither his mind nor yours holds more than these two orders of thought.

The miracle is the recognition that this is true. ²Where there is love, your brother must give it to you because of what [Love] is. ³But where there is a call for love, you must give [Love] because of what you are. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.X.5:8-9;7;11:4–12:3. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

While we identify with the body, everything we perceive is bound to be misinterpreted. The body can only see form. But form has no meaning of its own. Its content is empty.

Yet Love is always present beyond the form. We are unaware of Love unless we join with the Holy Spirit and accept His judgment of all appearances. If a brother perceives himself as separate, he will feel lack of Love. This sense of lack produces calls for Love in many forms — fear, guilt, depression, anxiety, anger—anything but perfect happiness and peace.

As we let the Holy Spirit judge all things on our behalf, He will teach us to recognize calls for Love and answer with Love. Of ourself alone, we do not know how to answer. The belief that we are alone stands as a barrier against the awareness of Love. As we let the Holy Spirit answer with Love through us, we learn of the Love we are and join with the Love in our brothers.

Today we resign as judge and turn over all judgment to the Holy Spirit, for we want to learn of the Love we are and remember our true Identity.

Putting Our Mind in the Service of Holy Spirit

I rule my mind, which I alone must rule.

I have a kingdom I must rule. ²At times, it does not seem I am its king at all. ³It seems to triumph over me, and tell me what to think, and what to do and feel. ⁴And yet it has been given me to serve whatever purpose I perceive in it. ⁵My mind can only serve. ⁶Today I give its service to the Holy Spirit to employ as He sees fit. ⁷I thus direct my mind, which I alone can rule. ⁸And thus I set it free to do the Will of God.

Father, my mind is open to Your Thoughts, and closed today to every thought but Yours. ²I rule my mind, and offer it to You. ³Accept my gift, for it is Yours to me. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 236. See also ACIM Lesson 236 Insights.)

We are in charge of what thought system rules our mind. We have turned our mind over to the ego which demands our allegiance to belief in separation from God. Its rule has seemed to turn on us. It demands sacrifice of our true Self and offers a powerless substitute image that is vulnerable to harm and death. It sends us to search for Love where it cannot be found. Our seeming life is fraught with danger. Stress is part of daily life interspersed with occasional brief moments of happiness and peace. This is not what God wills for us.

When we put the Holy Spirit in charge of our mind, He offers us everything God Wills for us. He leads us to remember that we are Love and nothing else. Through Christ’s vision, He shows us the Love that is present everywhere and in every brother. He awakens our mind to the oneness it shares with the Mind of God. This is our true Mind.

We choose to awaken today by putting the Holy Spirit in charge of our thoughts, words and actions.
