The Answer to All Perceived Problems

You who believed that God’s Last Judgment would condemn the world to hell along with you, accept this holy truth: God’s Judgment is the gift of the Correction He bestowed on all your errors, freeing you from them, and all effects they ever seemed to have. To fear God’s saving grace is but to fear complete release from suffering, return to peace, security and happiness, and union with your own Identity.

Be not afraid of love. For it alone can heal all sorrow, wipe away all tears, and gently waken from his dream of pain the Son whom God acknowledges as His.

This is God’s Final Judgment: “You are still My holy Son, for­ever innocent, forever loving and forever loved, as limitless as your Creator, and completely changeless and forever pure. Therefore awaken and return to Me. I am your Father and you are My Son.”Be not afraid of love. We can rejoice in the fact that no matter what we believe we have done in the world, God knows us as perfect Love, at one with Him. We have not changed the Son God created as an extension of His eternal Love. Our dream of a loveless world where separation seems real has had no effect on the truth. We are still as God created us.

We have convinced ourselves that separation is real. But God has given us the Holy Spirit as His Correction for this erroneous belief. He brings us the vision of Love that reveals the truth beyond appearances in the world. The path that leads us Home to God is lit with the Light of Love by the Holy Spirit in our mind.

The more we practice stepping back from our perceptions in the world and asking the Holy Spirit for His perception instead, the faster we awaken from the dream of fear and guilt. The Answer to all our perceived problems is in our mind now. We choose It today.

Learning to Let Love Guide Our Thoughts

It can be but myself I crucify.

When this is firmly understood and kept in full awareness, you will not attempt to harm yourself, nor make your body slave to vengeance. You will not attack yourself, and you will realize that to attack another is but to attack yourself. You will be free of the insane belief that to attack a brother saves yourself. And you will understand his safety is your own, and in his healing you are healed.

For once you understand it is impossible that you be hurt except by your own thoughts, the fear of God must disappear. You cannot then believe that fear is caused without.

If it can but be you you crucify, you did not hurt the world, and need not fear its vengeance and pursuit. Nor need you hide in terror from the deadly fear of God projection hides behind.

When you realize, once and for all, that it is you you fear, the mind perceives itself as split.

Yet in this instant is the time as well in which salvation comes. For fear of God has disappeared. And you can call on Him to save you from illusions by His Love, calling Him Father and yourself His Son. Pray that the instant may be soon,—today. Step back from fear, and make advance to love.

When we believe we are a body, we are attacking the Self God created one with Him. We are trying to limit the extension of His Love. Since Love is all that is real, this limit can only seem to be real in a dream in which we believe we have successfully separated from God. This is our Self crucifixion.

This dream has no effect on Reality. But to free ourselves from our self-imposed limitation, we need to learn to change our thoughts about the world and our identity. We are not a body and this dream of a world is nothing more than a projection of the belief that the body and separation are real. This belief is the cause of all our fear.

A belief is nothing more than a thought, and thoughts can be changed. This change happens when we change their source. While we identify with the ego, our thoughts stem from the ego’s denial of Love.

But we can choose another Source, the Holy Spirit. He knows that only Love is real because He is an extension of God’s Thought. As our inner Teacher, His mission is to teach us to remember the one Thought we share with God. It is the opposite of the ego’s thoughts. Holy Spirit’s Thoughts extend Love. They bring with them a vision that sees the oneness of Love everywhere. Fear is dispelled, for Love only blesses.

Today we choose to let go of the ego’s denial of Love and to accept the Holy Spirit’s lessons in Love’s oneness.

Finding Our True Value in God

It takes great learning both to realize and to accept the fact that the world has nothing to give. …There is no sacrifice in the world’s terms that does not involve the body. Think a while about what the world calls sacrifice. Power, fame, money, physical pleasure; who is the “hero” to whom all these things belong? Could they mean anything except to a body? Yet a body cannot evaluate. By seeking after such things the mind associates itself with the body, obscuring its Identity and losing sight of what it really is.

Once this confusion [of the mind with the body] has occurred, it becomes impossible for the mind to understand that all the “pleasures” of the world are nothing.

God’s teachers can have no regret on giving up the pleasures of the world. Is it a sacrifice to give up pain? Does an adult resent the giving up of children’s toys? Does one whose vision has already glimpsed the face of Christ look back with longing on a slaughter house? No one who has escaped the world and all its ills looks back on it with condemnation. Yet he must rejoice that he is free of all the sacrifice its values would demand of him. …Who in his sane mind chooses nothing as a substitute for everything?

Decide for God, and everything is given you at no cost at all. (A Course in Miracles, M-13.2:1,4-9;3:1;4:1-6,10;8:2)

Our belief that our body is our identity is the cause of our resistance to accepting the idea that the world is an illusion. If we accept the idea that we are not a body, it seems to leave us with nothing. And so we must be carefully taught that beyond the body we believe is our identity is our true Identity, which is so magnificent, so inclusive that it contains all of God. Our Identity includes all His Love, His joy and peace.

The Course takes us gently by the hand and shows us that what we have valued so highly is like the light of a firefly compared to the Sun. In truth the body and the world offer us nothing of value. Our true value is God’s Love.

Every moment of every day we choose between our false identity as a body and our Identity as God’s Son. We choose between a “life” of uncertainty, limitation, lack, loss, fear and guilt or the Life we live in God’s Love, limitless, all encompassing and eternal.

The teaching of the Course is to help us make the decision to be free from the sacrifice of Love the world demands of us. Only our mistaken beliefs stand as a barrier to our awakening to Love. We decide for Love by letting the Holy Spirit show us the truth in place of our misperceptions. Today we will step back and let Him lead the way.

A Resolution to Awaken to Love

…hear but the Voice for God and for your Self when you retire from the world, to seek reality instead. He will direct your efforts, telling you exactly what to do, how to direct your mind, and when to come to Him in silence, asking for His sure direction and His certain Word. His is the Word that God has given you. His is the Word you chose to be your own.

And now I place you in His hands, to be His faithful follower, with Him as Guide through every difficulty and all pain that you may think is real. Nor will He give you pleasures that will pass away, for He gives only the eternal and the good. Let Him prepare you further. He has earned your trust by speaking daily to you of your Father and your brother and your Self. He will continue. Now you walk with Him, as certain as is He of where you go; as sure as He of how you should proceed; as confident as He is of the goal, and of your safe arrival in the end.

You will be told exactly what God wills for you each time there is a choice to make. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Epilogue, W-pII.ep.3:2-4:6;5:3)

This year, let’s join together in our resolution to hear the Voice for God and follow His direction. This is a dedication to awaken to Love from the ego’s dream of fear. If we falter in this dedication, we will forgive ourselves and reaffirm our willingness to let Love guide all our thoughts, words and actions.

We want the peace of God. We want to remember the joy He has given us. We embark on a journey without distance, for we seek only to remember the gifts God has already given us as His Son. This practice will make this year different from every past year. We leave pain, sorrow, anger and fear behind and walk steadily toward the Home in Heaven God has kept for us.

By attending to His Voice, we will experience His gifts through everyday miracles with increasing joy and peace.

Transforming Hate into Love

It is our function to remember [God] on earth, as it is given us to be His Own completion in reality. So let us not forget our goal is shared, for it is that remembrance which contains the memory of God, and points the way to Him and to the Heaven of His peace. And shall we not forgive our brother, who can offer this to us? He is the way, the truth and life that shows the way to us. In him resides salvation, offered us through our forgiveness, given unto him.

We will not end this year without the gift our Father promised to His holy Son. We are forgiven now. And we are saved from all the wrath we thought belonged to God, and found it was a dream. We are restored to sanity, in which we understand that anger is insane, attack is mad, and vengeance merely foolish fantasy. We have been saved from wrath because we learned we were mistaken. Nothing more than that. And is a father angry at his son because he failed to understand the truth?

We come in honesty to God and say we did not understand, and ask Him to help us to learn His lessons, through the Voice of His Own Teacher. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 1, W-pII.f-l.in.4:1-6:1,pg.485-6. See also ACIM Final Lessons Insights.)

Our Creator gave us all of His Love when He Created His Son, our true Self. Yet we seem to wander in a world where Love is missing or at least incomplete. It seems this way only because we have accepted the mistaken belief that separation is real. It is not so. We are loved now and eternally.

All that stands between our awareness of this limitless, eternal Love is a mistake. God gave us the means to correct this mistake by giving us the Holy Spirit in our mind. He is our inner Teacher Whose mission is to help us free ourselves from this belief and its effects.

The means for this correction is forgiveness. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we learn to see beyond the world’s images of separation to Love’s presence everywhere. The body’s eyes cannot show us this reality. But as we accept the Holy Spirit’s vision, we see the Love that joins us with every brother. Ancient hates are transformed into present Love as we learn that appearances in the world are not real. They are only fantasies that hid the truth from our awareness. As we let them go, we remember we are loved. We remember our brother who is one with us in that Love. We remember God.

Let Love Be

The Holy Spirit looks through me today.

Christ asks that He may use my eyes today, and thus redeem the world. He asks this gift that He may offer peace of mind to me, and take away all terror and all pain. And as they are removed from me, the dreams that seemed to settle on the world are gone. Redemption must be one. As I am saved, the world is saved with me. For all of us must be redeemed together. Fear appears in many different forms, but love is one.

My Father, Christ has asked a gift of me, and one I give that it be given me. Help me to use the eyes of Christ today, and thus allow the Holy Spirit’s Love to bless all things which I may look upon, that His forgiving Love may rest on me. (W-pII.295)

Imagine seeing a world where all is Love. Peace would reign because there is no conflict in Love. Unspeakable joy would fill our hearts, for we would recognize everyone as our dearest friend, our mighty companion. The natural extension of Love flowing through us would bless the world as it blesses us.

This is the world we will see when we turn over our seeing to the Holy Spirit. It is a forgiven world, for the Holy Spirit sees beyond all forms of differences to the eternal unity of Love. He sees only the truth, disregarding appearances in the world that seem to deny the presence of Love.

With His vision the mistaken beliefs that blinded us to Love’s presence are healed. With His help we give and receive the gift of freedom. We let Love be, unchanged and unchangeable.

Sharing the Magnitude of God’s Love

I am spirit.

I am the Son of God. No body can contain my spirit, nor impose on me a limitation God created not.

I will accept my part in God’s plan for salvation.

What can my function be but to accept the Word of God, Who has created me for what I am and will for­ever be? (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 114, W-pI.114. See also ACIM Lesson 114 Insights.)

Our Spirit shares the magnitude of God and all His attributes. God’s Word is that His Son is as limitless as He, as loving, peaceful and joyous, That is His Will for our true Self, His Son.

Our function then must be the same as God’s: To Create as He Creates; to extend limitless Love as He does. In the world, our function is to let go of the barriers we have accepted that limit extension of Love. Each time we forgive by accepting the Holy Spirit’s perception in place of the ego’s, we free our minds and hearts to Love more fully. The darkness of the ego’s denial of Love fades and the Light of Love shines brighter in our mind.

Today we accept our true function by choosing to let go of the past and accept eternal Love in the present moment.
