Letting Love Guide Our Thoughts and Actions

Let every voice but God’s be still in me.

Father, today I would but hear Your Voice. In deepest silence I would come to You, to hear Your Voice and to receive Your Word. I have no prayer but this: I come to You to ask You for the truth. And truth is but Your Will, which I would share with You today.

Today we let no ego thoughts direct our words or actions. When such thoughts occur, we quietly step back and look at them, and then we let them go. We do not want what they would bring with them. And so we do not choose to keep them. They are silent now. And in the stillness, hallowed by His Love, God speaks to us and tells us of our will, as we have chosen to remember Him. Our ego thoughts tell us that we are weak, capable of being harmed or inflicting harm. They tell us we are separate and alone, so we need to plan for our safety and seek for love to be complete.

Whenever any of these thoughts in their various forms enter our mind, it is a signal that we need to step back. We need to remind ourselves that these are not our real thoughts, for we are not the ego. By stepping back and disconnecting our allegiance from the ego, we we quiet the ego’s voice in ur mind. We open our minds to God’s Voice.

Our real Thoughts are the Thoughts of Love we share with God. God’s sole Will is to extend Love. That is how He created His Son. As His Son, we share His Will. Our true Self’s Will is to extend Love and nothing else. Our true Self, God’s Son, co-creates with Him. Extending Love is our will. It brings us joy and peace of mind.

We dedicate ourselves to serve Love today. We choose Love to guide our thoughts, words and actions. We let the vision of Love remind us of our oneness with every brother in God.

Finding Our Completion in Love

The holy instant is this instant and every instant. The one you want it to be it is. The one you would not have it be is lost to you. You must decide when it is. Delay it not. For beyond the past and future, where you will not find it, [the holy instant] stands in shimmering readiness for your acceptance. Yet you cannot bring it into glad awareness while you do not want it, for it holds the whole release from littleness.

Your practice must therefore rest upon your willingness to let all littleness go. The instant in which magnitude dawns upon you is but as far away as your desire for it. As long as you desire it not and cherish littleness instead, by so much is it far from you. By so much as you want [magnitude] will you bring it nearer. Think not that you can find salvation in your own way and have it. Give over every plan you have made for your salvation in exchange for God’s. His will content you, and nothing else can bring you peace. For peace is of God, and no one beside Him. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.IV.1:3-9;2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

When we think we will be happy if we have a relationship with a significant other, a certain status, a better relationship with a family member, a healthy body, we are making our own plans for salvation. Whatever we believe will make us happy, we think is our salvation. Yet seeking for happiness in forms of the world comes from our choice for littleness. When we identify with the body, which limits us, we seek for things that seem to make our body’s circumstance happy. But happiness cannot be found in the forms of the world because they all are part of the belief in littleness.

God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. His plan for our salvation is to help us release our dedication to littleness and accept His gift of His magnitude. Our true Self includes the magnitude of God Himself, nothing less. And nothing more exists at all, for the Love of God is all that is real.

To facilitate His plan for our salvation, He gave us His Voice to teach us to see beyond our littleness in the present instant, where time has been forgotten and ever-present Love is known.

Today we choose to accept the magnitude of the Love we are and see that It includes every brother. We need nothing else, for we are complete as God created His Son.

Restoring the Memory of God’s Love

Father, today I am Your Son again.

Today we will anticipate the time when dreams of sin and guilt are gone, and we have reached the holy peace we never left. Merely a tiny instant has elapsed between eternity and timeless­ness. So brief the interval there was no lapse in continuity, nor break in thoughts which are forever unified as one. Nothing has ever happened to disturb the peace of God the Father and the Son. This we accept as wholly true today.

We thank You, Father, that we cannot lose the memory of You and of Your Love. We recognize our safety, and give thanks for all the gifts You have bestowed on us, for all the loving help we have received, for Your eternal patience, and the Word which You have given us that we are saved. We can rest assured in the certainty that we are forever held in the changelessness of God’s Love. This is the Home we have never left.

Our experience in this world is the effect of denying the fact that we are still at Home in God. It is a dream that seems real because we believe our denial was successful in breaking away from God.

Thankfully God is not punitive as the ego portrays Him. In fact, God is unaffected by our dream. He knows that we have lost our awareness of His Love so He has given His Answer to lead us out of the dream. The Holy Spirit is His gift to guide us out of our mistaken beliefs. With His help, our perceptions of loss, guilt and fear are forgiven and released.

We reclaim God’s peace by accepting the Holy Spirit’s help to heal our misperceptions with the vision of Love. As we accept His help, the memory of God is restored to us.

Christ Is Born in Us as We Extend Love

In this season (Christmas) which celebrates the birth of holiness into this world, join with me who decided for holiness for you. It is our task together to restore the awareness of magnitude to the host [His Son] whom God appointed for Himself. It is beyond all your littleness to give the gift of God, but not beyond you. For God would give Himself through you.

Is it a sacrifice to leave littleness behind, and wander not in vain? It is not sacrifice to wake to glory. But it is sacrifice to accept anything less than glory. Learn that you must be worthy of the Prince of Peace, born in you in honor of Him Whose host you are. …Before the greatness that lives in you, your poor appreciation of yourself and all the little offerings you give slip into nothingness.

I would but teach you what is yours, so that together we can replace the shabby littleness that binds the host of God to guilt and weakness with the glad awareness of the glory that is in him. My birth in you is your awakening to grandeur. Welcome me not into a manger, but into the altar to holiness, where holiness abides in perfect peace. My Kingdom is not of this world because it is in you. And you are of your Father. Let us join in honoring you, who must remain forever beyond littleness. In this world we are unaware of our unbreakable unity with our Creator. This eternal unity is the source of our magnitude, for God shares all of Himself with His Son.

It is time to accept God’s gift of all of His Love. We accept It as we let go of our judgments by forgiving our mistaken belief that it is possible to limit God’s Creation. His Creation is as unlimited as He is. There is no limit to His Love, which extends forever. Love by Its nature extends forever. To know of our magnitude we must remove the barriers in our mind that limit the extension of Love through us.

We choose to accept the Holy Spirit’s lessons which teach us to look past the false images of the ego’s dream to the presence of Love everywhere, always. This is how we accept our part in God’s extension of Love.

Seeing Love’s Reflection in the World

In this world you can become a spotless mirror, in which the Holiness of your Creator shines forth from you to all around you. You can reflect Heaven here. Yet no reflections of the images of other gods must dim the mirror that would hold God’s reflection in it. Earth can reflect Heaven or hell; God or the ego. You need but leave the mirror clean and clear of all the images of hidden darkness you have drawn upon it. God will shine upon it of Himself. Only the clear reflection of Himself can be perceived upon it.

Could you but realize for a single instant the power of healing that the reflection of God, shining in you, can bring to all the world, you could not wait to make the mirror of your mind clean to receive the image of the holiness that heals the world.

The response of holiness to any form of error is always the same. There is no contradiction in what holiness calls forth. Its one response is healing, without regard for what is brought to it. Those who have learned to offer only healing, because of the reflection of holiness in them, are ready at last for Heaven. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.IX.5;7:1;8:1-4. In Heaven there is no mirror, nothing to reflect. The Love of God is known in Its oneness. Love’s extension retains Its oneness. It is not projected onto anything outside because there is nothing outside of Love.

Everything perceived in the world is a projection. This projection is reflected back to us. What we perceive in the mirror reflects what we believe is real. If we see images of differences—different time and space, different bodies—we believe separation is real. These reflections hide the reflection of reality — God’s Love.

We clean the mirror of reflections of separation by forgiving our judgments, our denial of Love. When our forgiveness is complete, we see only the reflection of God’s Love. We have accepted the reality of our true Self and dismissed the ego’s false identity. Now we see the Love of our true Self reflected everywhere. We remember we are Love and nothing else. We know Heaven as our Home, where no reflection is needed.

Letting Love Guide Our Giving

When you have learned to accept what you are, you will make no more gifts to offer to yourself, for you will know you are complete, in need of nothing, and unable to accept anything for yourself. But you will gladly give, having received. The host of God needs not seek to find anything.

If you are wholly willing to leave salvation to the plan of God and unwilling to attempt to grasp for peace yourself, salvation will be given you. Yet think not you can substitute your plan for His. Rather, join with me in His, that we may release all those who would be bound, proclaiming together that the Son of God is host to Him. Thus will we let no one forget what you would remember. And thus will you remember it.

Call forth in everyone only the remembrance of God, and of the Heaven that is in him. For where you would have your brother be, there will you think you are. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.III.10:7-12:2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

The only meaningful gift we can give is Love. We already have all of God’s Love. We know we have It by giving It. Giving is an acknowledgement of what we have.

Love is formless because It is eternal and unlimited. In the world, everything seems to be defined by forms that limit. Forms only have the meaning assigned to them. Giving Love in the world can take myriad forms. The forms themselves have no meaning of their own. To truly give Love, we need to let our true Self direct the giving.

In one case giving Love may simply be letting It flow from our heart to embrace another, with no visible form. In another it may simply be a smile or an act of kindness. In another it may be a physical gift that is truly helpful. Such gifts, directed by Love, are given with no expectations, only the inspiration to bless. This giving returns the blessing back to us for giving and receiving are experienced as the same.

In this season of gift giving, let’s join together by committing to let Love guide our giving. It will be a truly blessed experience, for we will be joining in the oneness of God’s Son.

The Practice That Leads to Love

You look still with the body’s eyes, and they can see but thorns. Yet you have asked for and received another sight. Those who accept the Holy Spirit’s purpose as their own share also His vision. And what enables Him to see His purpose shine forth from every altar now is yours as well as His. He sees no strangers; only dearly loved and loving friends. He sees no thorns but only lilies, gleaming in the gentle glow of peace that shines on everything He looks upon and loves.

You have the vision now to look past all illusions. It has been given you to see no thorns, no strangers and no obstacles to peace. The fear of God is nothing to you now. Who is afraid to look upon illusions, knowing his savior [brother] stands beside him? With him, your vision has become the greatest power for the undoing of illusion that God Himself could give. For what God gave the Holy Spirit, you have received. The Son of God looks unto you for his release. For you have asked for and been given the strength to look upon this final obstacle, and see no thorns nor nails to crucify the Son of God, and crown him king of death.

Your chosen home is on the other side, beyond the veil. It has been carefully prepared for you, and it is ready to receive you now. You will not see it with the body’s eyes. (A Course in Miracles, T-20.II.5;7:1-8:3. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Every brother is our savior when he is seen truly with the Holy Spirit’s vision. His vision sees only the Love that is the true Self in everyone, including ourselves. This Self unites us all in Love’s oneness.

When we believe what the body’s eyes see is our reality, we do not see our brother truly. We see the ego-made barrier which hides the presence of Love. As long as we rely on the body’s limited vision, we are bound to the dream of pain, lack, guilt and fear.

In every instant we can choose the Holy Spirit’s vision. This choice brings Light to our mind, dispelling the barriers to Love’s presence. We open our hearts and minds to this healing Light by frequently asking Love to guide our seeing. The more we practice the more we free ourselves from the dream. It is a journey that takes us Home to the peace, joy and Love of Heaven.
