Being a Messenger of God’s Love

I am one Self, united with my Creator.

Today’s idea accurately describes you as God created you. ²You are one within yourself, and one with Him. ³Yours is the unity of all creation. ⁴Your perfect unity makes change in you impossible. ⁵You do not accept this, and you fail to realize it must be so, only because you believe that you have changed yourself already.

You see yourself as a ridiculous parody on God’s creation; weak, vicious, ugly and sinful, miserable and beset with pain. ²Such is your version of yourself; a self divided into many warring parts, separate from God, and tenuously held together by its erratic and capricious maker, to which you pray. ³It does not hear your prayers, for it is deaf. ⁴It does not see the oneness in you, for it is blind. ⁵It does not understand you are the Son of God, for it is senseless and understands nothing.

You have seen the extent of your lack of mental discipline, and of your need for mind training. ⁵It is necessary that you be aware of this, for it is indeed a hindrance to your advance.

…unless you are reminded of your purpose frequently, you tend to forget about it for long periods of time. ³…you have not yet formed the habit of using the idea as an automatic response to temptation.

…with all the certainty that you can give [affirm]:

If we are not supremely happy, we are believing we are a false image of ourself. If we are not at peace, it is because we believe that we can change or be changed, harm or be harmed. In truth we are as unchangeable as God.

We are the same Love, unlimited and eternal. Our true Self sees Love in the world and offers Love where there is a belief in lack of Love. This is our purpose, shared with our Creator. We are extensions of His Love, and being one with Him, we extend that Love.

Today we would remember to be messengers of Love.

Awaken and Be Glad

I feel the Love of God within me now.

²The Love of God is what created me. ³The Love of God is everything I am. ⁴The Love of God proclaimed me as His Son. ⁵The Love of God within me sets me free.

I choose the joy of God instead of pain.

²Pain is my own idea. ³It is not a Thought of God, but one I thought apart from Him and from His Will. ⁴His Will is joy, and only joy for His beloved Son. ⁵And that I choose, instead of what I made.

⁶I am not a body. ⁷I am free.
⁸For I am still as God created me.

As God’s Son, we are His Love with all Love’s attributes. In the dream, we believe we are a body. The body is a limit, and as long as we believe we are a body, we cannot know His Love as ours. In the dream, judgment is used to reinforce the wish for specialness. This keeps us bound to the body’s limitations. We do not see ourselves as Love, joined in complete unity with all Love.

Each time we forgive our perception of separation, we take a step toward freedom to be the Love God created us to be. The unhappiness that comes with judgment is replaced with the joy of extending Love without limit. This is our purpose, to awaken and be glad.

Remembering Who We Are as God’s Son

God’s Name is holy, but no holier than yours. ²To call upon His Name is but to call upon your own. ³A father gives his son his name, and thus identifies the son with him. ⁴His brothers share his name, and thus are they united in a bond to which they turn for their identity. ⁵Your Father’s Name reminds you who you are, even within a world that does not know; even though you have not remembered it.

Repeat the Name of God [Love’s oneness], and call upon your Self, Whose Name is His. ²Repeat His Name, and all the tiny, nameless things on earth slip into right perspective. ³Those who call upon the Name of God can not mistake the nameless for the Name, nor sin for grace, nor bodies for the holy Son of God. ⁴And should you join a brother as you sit with him in silence, and repeat God’s Name along with him within your quiet mind, you have established there an altar which reaches to God Himself and to His Son.

All little things are silent. ²Little sounds are soundless now. ³The little things of earth have disappeared. ⁴The universe consists of nothing but the Son of God, who calls upon his Father. ⁵And his Father’s Voice gives answer in his Father’s holy Name. ⁶In this eternal, still relationship, in which communication far transcends all words, and yet exceeds in depth and height whatever words could possibly convey, is peace eternal. ⁷In our Father’s Name, we would experience this peace today. ⁸And in His Name, it shall be given us. We must not mistake a body for the Son of God. We are not a body. To know our freedom as God’s Son, we must remember we are united with Him in Love’s oneness. Only Love is Real. This is what we acknowledge when we repeat God’s Name. As we identify with Love, individual forms are recognized as meaningless. Only Love is present, now and forever.

In the dream of separation and individual forms with separate identities, we have lost awareness of our true Self. We cannot experience the unity of Love while we identify with a body. But we can practice accepting the Love within. We can practice seeing the Love in a brother beyond appearances in the world. As we shift our focus from bodies to Love’s unity, all sense of conflict, loss and fear fade. Our certainty of the Love we are illuminates our world. We remember Who we are as God’s Son.

The Practice That Leads to Increasing Happiness

I share God’s Will for happiness for me.

You do not want to suffer. ²You may think it buys you something, and may still believe a little that it buys you what you want.

⁶Be you free today to join the happy Will of God.

²Here [God’s Will for happiness] is your home, and here your safety is. ³Here is your peace, and here there is no fear. ⁴Here is salvation. ⁵Here is rest at last.

Begin …with this acceptance of God’s Will for you:

²I share God’s Will for happiness for me, and I accept it as my function now.

Be happy, for your only function here is happiness. …pause frequently today, to tell yourself that you have now accepted happiness as your one function. ⁴And be sure that you are joining with God’s Will in doing this. The ego’s choice for specialness and rejection of God’s unconditional Love leads to guilt. In the egos’ twisted thought system, it wants suffering to pay for the sin of denying God’s Love. The problems we experience in the world are the acting out of its need to compensate for guilt.

But these problems can only occur in the thought system that denies God’s Will is for our happiness. As His Son, we are given all of His Love, which is inherently joyous. Happiness is our natural state. We are grateful that this is so.

As we practice accepting His Will, which He shares with us, we experience ever increasing happiness.

Imagine Seeing the World as Only Love

²There is no world! ³This is the central thought the course attempts to teach.

²You are as God created you. ³There is no place where you can suffer, and no time that can bring change to your eternal state. ⁴How can a world of time and place exist, if you remain as God created you?

What is the lesson for today except another way of saying that to know your Self is the salvation of the world? ²To free the world from every kind of pain is but to change your mind about yourself. ³There is no world apart from your ideas because ideas leave not their source, and you maintain the world within your mind in thought

²I loose the world from all I thought it was, and choose my own [true] reality instead. (W-132.6:2-3;9:2–10:3;17:2)

We are not a body; we are as God created us. But we perceive the world through the body’s senses. The device we use to perceive the world is itself an illusion, a mental construct. Ultimately we need to let go of the body as our source of information. It perceives only what it was made to perceive.

When we let go of the body as our identity and let the Love we are recognize the Love that surrounds us and is every brother, we free the world. Love is our true Reality. It sees no differences, only Itself.

Try to imagine what it would be like to see Love and nothing else everywhere. It would bring you to a state of perfect peace. There would be no fear or guilt, only the joyous sharing of Love. This is our true Reality.

Turning Our Judgments over to God’s Love

I judge all things as I would have them be.

Judgment was made to be a weapon used against the truth. ²It separates what it is being used against, and sets it off as if it were a thing apart. ³And then it makes of it what you would have it be. ⁴It judges what it cannot understand, because it cannot see totality and therefore judges falsely. ⁵Let us not use it today, but make a gift of it to Him Who has a different use for it. ⁶He will relieve us of the agony of all the judgments we have made against ourselves, and re-establish peace of mind by giving us God’s Judgment of His Son.

Father, we wait with open mind today, to hear Your Judgment of the Son You love. ²We do not know him, and we cannot judge. ³And so we let Your Love decide what he whom You created as Your Son must be. (A Course in Miracles, W-311. See also ACIM Lesson 311 Insights.)

We have a path laid out for us to see a world where Love presides. We lay aside our habit of judging all things, trying to decide what is good and what is bad. No longer do we try to judge. We are free from past illusions.

We admit that we do not know what anything means. Now we wait with willingness to see with the eyes of Love. This vision shows us that we are united with every brother in the universe of Love. He is not different. We see he is the same Love that we are.

In this vision, we rest In peace and joy.

Remembering the Oneness of Love.

²You have need to use the symbols of the world a while. ³But be you not deceived by them as well. ⁴They do not stand for anything at all, and in your practicing it is this thought that will release you from them. ⁵They become but means by which you can communicate in ways the world can understand, but which you recognize is not the unity where true communication can be found.

Thus what you need are intervals each day in which the learning of the world becomes a transitory phase; a prison house from which you go into the sunlight and forget the darkness. ²Here you understand the Word, the Name which God has given you; the one Identity which all things share; the one acknowledgment of what is true. ³And then step back to darkness, not because you think it real, but only to proclaim its unreality in terms which still have meaning in the world that darkness rules.”

God has no name. ²And yet His Name becomes the final lesson that all things are one, and at this lesson does all learning end. ³All names are unified; all space is filled with truth’s reflection. ⁴Every gap is closed, and separation healed. ⁵The Name of God is the inheritance He gave to those who chose the teaching of the world to take the place of Heaven. ⁶In our practicing, our purpose is to let our minds accept what God has given as the answer to the pitiful inheritance you made as fitting tribute to the Son He loves. Our inheritance is God’s Identity as Love. He created is Son as an extension of His Love, eternally one with Himself. To hold this Identity in our mind, we need to take intervals each day to step back from the world. We pause to remember the oneness of Love. From this oneness we see that we are one with every brother. The forms fade into the background as Love steps forward.

We hold this awareness of the Light in every brother in our mind as we bring the message of God’s Love to the world.
