Giving and Receiving the Gift of Freedom

In silence, close your eyes upon the world that does not understand forgiveness, and seek sanctuary in the quiet place where thoughts are changed and false beliefs laid by. Repeat, [“All that I give is given to myself,”] and ask for help in understanding what it really means. Be willing to be taught. Be glad to hear the Voice of truth and healing speak to you, and you will understand the words He speaks, and recognize He speaks your words to you.

As often as you can, remind yourself you have a goal today; an aim which makes this day of special value to yourself and all your brothers. Do not let your mind forget this goal for long, but tell yourself:

All that I give is given to myself. The Help I need to learn that this is true is with me now. And I will trust in Him.

Then spend a quiet moment, opening your mind to His correction and His Love. And what you hear of Him you will believe, for what He gives will be received by you. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 126, W-pI.126.11-12. See also ACIM Lesson 126 Insights.)

A Course in Miracles has given us a practice to use every day that will free us from the pain and suffering, guilt and fear of the world. It will set us free to return to the Heaven that is our Home, bringing our brothers with us. This practice will help us learn and accept the truth of what we and all our brothers are. And we will remember that we remain Love as Love created us. This practice gives a gift that lasts forever. It is a gift for all our brothers and ourselves.

Included in this practice is the reminder that we have the Help we need to be successful in this practice. This Help comes from God and what God gives is guaranteed to work. We need only be willing to accept the Help.

Accepting We Are All as God Created Us

The power of decision is my own. This day I will accept myself as what my Father’s Will created me to be.

Then will we wait in silence, giving up all self-deceptions, as we humbly ask our Self that He reveal Himself to us. And He Who never left will come again to our awareness, grateful to restore His home to God, as it was meant to be.

In patience wait for Him throughout the day, and hourly invite Him with the words with which the day began, concluding it with this same invitation to your Self. God’s Voice will answer, for He speaks for you and for your Father. He will substitute the peace of God for all your frantic thoughts, the truth of God for self-deceptions, and God’s Son for your illusions of yourself. As we practice remembering that we remain whole, perfect and complete as God created us, peace returns. Joy returns. As we practice through the day opening our minds to God’s Voice, He will come. Holy Spirit sees our illusions, but doesn’t believe in them. He brings us the Light of Truth in the most perfect way. He brings us peace of mind. He lifts us up above the constant turmoil of the world to see the Love behind the false perceptions. We want Holy Spirit’s help and we are faithful to receive His inner teaching. We relax, let go and let ourselves by carried to the Truth by listening to the Holy Spirit.

The Core of Mind Healing

Through your holiness the power of God is made manifest. Through your holiness the power of God is made available. And there is nothing the power of God cannot do. Your holiness, then, can remove all pain, can end all sorrow, and can solve all problems. It can do so in connection with yourself and with anyone else. It is equal in its power to help anyone because it is equal in its power to save anyone.

If you are holy, so is everything God created. You are holy because all things He created are holy. And all things He created are holy because you are. …We will apply the power of your holiness to all problems, difficulties or suffering in any form that you happen to think of, in yourself or in someone else. The key to all mind healing is to remember that we are still as God created us and that this is true about everyone. Everyone is whole, perfect and complete right now in the one Mind of Love. This is why we are holy. God’s wholeness cannot be broken into millions of pieces. There are no differences in God’s creation.

The key to awakening is letting this truth return to our minds. Distinguishing between the real and the unreal removes all problems, because remembering the truth undoes the ego thought system. Remembering that nothing real can be threatened and that nothing unreal exists returns us to the peace of God. We are eternally safe in the one Mind of God. This is the core of mind healing.

The Unlimited Love of God Is Ours to Receive and Give

My Self is holy beyond all the thoughts of holiness of which I now conceive. Its shimmering and perfect purity is far more brilliant than is any light that I have ever looked upon. Its love is limitless, with an intensity that holds all things within it, in the calm of quiet certainty. Its strength comes not from burning impulses which move the world, but from the boundless Love of God Himself. How far beyond this world my Self must be, and yet how near to me and close to God!

Father, You know my true Identity. Reveal It now to me who am Your Son, that I may waken to the truth in You, and know that Heaven is restored to me. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 252, W-pII.252. See also ACIM Lesson 252 Insights.)

The Love of God is What are. Today we open to this truth that our minds be healed of all false thoughts of being separated from Love… Today we let ourselves feel God’s Love… We feel His strength in us… We feel His certainty of our innocence… We feel God’s peace… We take time to identify with His Love that we feel and know as our true Identity…

It is true that we are one with God’s Love and we extend it to the world. That is our only function now. Accepting the truth that we are God’s Love brings us peace, happiness and gratitude.

How to Lead the Good Life

Once you accept His plan as the one function that you would fulfill, there will be nothing else the Holy Spirit will not arrange for you without your effort. He will go before you making straight your path, and leaving in your way no stones to trip on, and no obstacles to bar your way. Nothing you need will be denied you. Not one seeming difficulty but will melt away before you reach it. You need take thought for nothing, careless of everything except the only purpose that you would fulfill. As that was given you, so will its fulfillment be. God’s guarantee will hold against all obstacles, for it rests on certainty and not contingency. It rests on you. And what can be more certain than a Son of God? (A Course in Miracles, T-20.IV.8:4-12. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Because God’s Will for us is perfect happiness, to live the good life is to live the Life we share with God. A life of perfect peace and quiet, eternal joy cannot be found in the world of separation. The world can only offer us illusions, which can never fulfill our hearts desire.

The desire of our true Self is to be and extend Love and nothing else. We cannot do this while we identify with the body as our identity. It is a false image that hides our true Self from our awareness. It is time to shift our allegiance from belief in a false image to the acceptance of our Reality as an extension of the Love of God. To do this we need help from outside the thought system that made the world we experience in a body.

To lead the good life, we need to follow the Guide Who knows what it is. As we practice letting the Holy Spirit clean our thoughts of false images by showing us the truth that lies beyond them, we move into the Life of Love we share with God. Today we ask our inner Guide to help us see the Love behind all images.

Recognizing Where Our Real Value Lies

Today we practice letting go all thought of values we have given to the world. We leave it free of purposes we gave its aspects and its phases and its dreams. We hold [the world] purposeless within our minds, and loosen it from all we wish it were. Thus do we lift the chains that bar the door to freedom from the world, and go beyond all little values and diminished goals.

Pause and be still a little while, and see how far you rise above the world, when you release your mind from chains and let it seek the level where it finds itself at home. It will be grateful to be free a while. It knows where it belongs. But free its wings, and it will fly in sureness and in joy to join its holy purpose. Let it rest in its Creator, there to be restored to sanity, to freedom and to love.” (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 128, W-pI.128.5-6. See also ACIM Lesson 128 Insights.)

The body is an image made by the ego as a substitute for our Identity in God. When we identify with the body as what we are, we deny our Identity in Love and thus experience lack of Love. As long as we identify with the body, we are on a constant search to find the Love we seem to have lost. There is nothing in the world that can replace the Love we are but are unaware of. The ego can only offer empty substitutes which do not satisfy, in keeping with its motto, “seek and do not find.”

Yet there is a way to return to full awareness of the Love we are. We need to let go of all value we place on any form in the world. As we let go of the value we place on the valueless, the experience of the Love we are will return to our awareness. This is where we find true and lasting happiness, God’s eternal gift to His one Son.

Today we practice remembering that the world holds nothing that we want. We open our minds to let the Holy Spirit show us where our real value lies.

Holy Spirit, I Am Listening

For this alone I need; that you will hear the words I speak, and give them to the world. You are my voice, my eyes, my feet, my hands through which I save the world. The Self from which I call to you is but your own. To Him we go together. Take your brother’s hand, for this is not a way we walk alone. In him I walk with you, and you with me. Our Father wills His Son be one with Him. What lives but must not then be one with you? (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 171, W-pI.V.In.9:2-9. See also ACIM Lesson 171 Insights.)

The Course tells us that we must teach what we want to learn. If we want to learn to live in God’s peace and joy, we need to let the Holy Spirit guide all our thoughts and all our doing. Under His guidance we will teach what the Holy Spirit teaches us and we will learn the Holy Spirit’s lesson that we remain as God created us: We are Love and nothing else. His guidance will teach us to recognize the Love in every brother and join with the Love that is our brother. Thus we will teach our brothers that they are Love and learn we are also Love.

Today we dedicate to listening to the Holy Spirit’s lesson.
