Being Love’s Messengers

To be in the Kingdom is merely to focus your full attention on it. As long as you believe you can attend to what is not true, you are accepting conflict as your choice. Is it really a choice? It seems to be, but seeming and reality are hardly the same. You who are the Kingdom are not concerned with seeming. Reality is yours because you are reality. This is how having and being are ultimately reconciled, not in the Kingdom, but in your mind.

God has lit your mind Himself, and keeps your mind lit by His light because His light is what your mind is. (A Course in Miracles, T-7.III.4:1-7;5:1. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Love created us like Itself, holding us eternally in the Mind of Love. Love’s Light enlightens our mind, shining away all shadows of illusion and showing us the Love that is everywhere. Love, by Its nature, is eternally extending. To extend, Love must be received. We know we have Love by giving It. This is how we experience having and being Love.

We dedicate today to letting Love guide our thoughts and all our doing, that we may be Love’s messengers.

Accepting God’s Plan for Our Happiness

Give over every plan you have made for your salvation in exchange for God’s [plan]. His will content you, and nothing else can bring you peace. For peace is of God, and no one beside Him.

Be humble before Him, and yet great in Him. And value no plan of the ego before the plan of God.

Every allegiance to a plan of salvation apart from Him diminishes the value of His Will for you in your own mind. And yet it is your mind that is the host to Him.

In your practice, try to give over every plan you have accepted for finding magnitude in littleness. It is not there. Use the holy instant only to recognize that you alone cannot know where it is, and can only deceive yourself. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.IV.2:6-3:2;3:6-7;4:5-7. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Most of the Course focuses on helping us realize we don’t really want the world the ego made. The peace of God cannot be found there. In fact, the ego’s world is the denial of God’s peace because it is the denial of God’s infinite, universal Love.

What we really want is God’s peace. And God’s Will is that we have His peace. To have His peace and His joy and His Love, we need only accept that His Will is in fact our Will.

When we identify with the ego, we are choosing the ego’s plans to bring us what we think we want. But all the ego can offer is empty substitutes for the gifts of God we really want. Yet God’s gifts are available to us in every instant. We need only relinquish the plans we made with the ego and welcome God’s plan for our perfect happiness and limitless peace.

Our practice today is to give over all plans we have made on our own with willingness to receive God’s plan. It is our journey to Heaven.

Learning Holy Spirit’s Lessons in Love

When your peace is threatened or disturbed in any way, say to yourself:

I do not know what anything, including this, means. And so I do not know how to respond to it. And I will not use my own past learning as the light to guide me now.

By this refusal to attempt to teach yourself what you do not know, the Guide Whom God has given you will speak to you. He will take His rightful place in your awareness the instant you abandon [your past learning], and offer it to Him.

It is only because you think that you can run some little part, or deal with certain aspects of your life alone, that the guidance of the Holy Spirit is limited.

Leave room for Him, and you will find yourself so filled with power that nothing will prevail against your peace. And this will be the test by which you recognize that you have understood. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.XI.6:6-11;8:4;15:5-6. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The world was made by the ego to give the appearance that we are alone in a loveless world. This fosters a belief that we must fend for ourselves, protect ourselves and solve problems on our own. As long as we buy into this belief, we shut out the only Guidance that can lead us to the peace of God. This is why it is essential that we acknowledge that on our own, we do not understand what anything means.

As we are willing to turn over our past learning — the things we think we need to do to protect ourselves and provide for our needs — we open the door to receive Holy Spirit’s help. The strength of God is already in us. The Holy Spirit is God’s Voice assuring us that nothing can happen to change God’s one Son. Harm is impossible. There is no problem we perceive in the world that the Holy Spirit cannot resolve if we are willing to release our past learning to Him. His gentle correction will bring us the clarity of His vision and the peace that comes with It.

Today we practice stepping back from all we think we have learned with willingness to receive the Holy Spirit’s lesson in Love.

We Rest In Oneness with Every Brother

You rest within the peace of God today, and call upon your brothers from your rest to draw them to their rest, along with you. You will be faithful to your trust today, forgetting no one, bringing everyone into the boundless circle of your peace, the holy sanctuary where you rest. Open the temple doors and let them come from far across the world, and near as well; your distant brothers and your closest friends; bid them all enter here and rest with you.

You rest within the peace of God today, quiet and unafraid. Each brother comes to take his rest, and offer it to you. We rest together here, for thus our rest is made complete, and what we give today we have received already. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 109, W-pI.109.8:1-9:3. It is so helpful to remember that in Reality, our true Self rests in the Mind of God eternally… As we make opening to our true Self our highest priority, we move into a space of inner peace and quiet joy… We feel Love’s happiness and connectedness with all that is… We feel Love’s tranquility and sense of complete safety… We remember we cannot harm or be harmed as we rest in God’s complete oneness…

We remember the truth about everyone’s innocence… And because we are able to see past time, we become aware of an inner contentment and peace that is beyond this world’s understanding… We open to this awareness today and share it with all our brothers… We are in deep gratitude.

Accepting our True Self’s Happiness

Heaven itself is reached with empty hands and open minds, which come with nothing to find everything and claim it as their own. We will attempt to reach this state today, with self-deception laid aside, and with an honest willingness to value but the truly valuable and the real.

And then receive what waits for everyone who reaches, unencumbered, to the gate of Heaven, which swings open as he comes. Should you begin to let yourself collect some needless burdens, or believe you see some difficult decisions facing you, be quick to answer with this simple thought:

I will not value what is valueless, for what is valuable belongs to me.

Today we focus on letting our minds be healed of artificial values. Today we open up to receive inspiration from the Holy Spirit, Who shows us where true value lies. Because we want to return to the truth that only God’s Love is real, we receive inspiration in a form that is perfect for us regarding misplaced values we have been holding from the past.

We feel Holy Spirit’s confidence in the certainty of our healing journey Home. We open to Holy Spirit’s Love, peace and joy as we let the gate of Heaven be opened for us. As we awaken we find that all that is valuable is ours already. We become aware of the happiness of our true Self.

You Are One Self, United with Your Creator

When you fail to comply with the requirements of this course, you have merely made a mistake. This calls for correction, and for nothing else. To allow a mistake to continue is to make additional mistakes, based on the first and reinforcing it. It is this process that must be laid aside, for it is but another way in which you would defend illusions against the truth.

Let all these errors go by recognizing them for what they are. They are attempts to keep you unaware you are one Self, united with your Creator, at one with every aspect of creation, and limitless in power and in peace. As we attempt to practice the daily lesson of the ACIM Workbook, it seems impossible to follow the directions exactly as prescribed. The ego may use this to justify a sense of unworthiness, weakness and guilt. This reinforces the idea that we are separate from everything, including God.

But we are reminded that if we wander away from the lesson, all that is needed is to correct the error rather than reinforce it with guilt and a sense of unworthiness. As we practice and notice we have wandered off track, all that is called for is to return to the practice. Nothing more.

The lesson’s are training us to direct our attention away from the ego’s thought system of guilt and fear. As we practice giving our attention to the Holy Spirit with willingness to receive His loving correction, we are released from the ego’s tyranny. This is our practice for today as we remember that we are One Self, united with our Creator.

Giving God’s Love to All

Consider the kingdom you have made and judge its worth fairly. Is it worthy to be a home for a child of God? Does it protect his peace and shine love upon him? Does it keep his heart untouched by fear, and allow him to give [Love] always, without any sense of loss? Does it teach him that this giving [Love] is his joy, and that God Himself thanks him for his giving? That is the only environment in which you can be happy. You cannot make it, any more than you can make yourself. It has been created for you, as you were created for it. God watches over His children and denies them nothing. Yet when they deny Him they do not know this, because they deny themselves everything. You who could give the Love of God to everything you see and touch and remember, are literally denying Heaven to yourself. (A Course in Miracles, T-7.XI.3. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

There is no form in the world that can bring us the joy that comes with giving God’s Love to all. To give His Love, we must see past form, seeing only innocence. The Light of Love shines in us and through us when we are willing to set aside our learning from the past and welcome the ever present Love that is our true Nature. The Love in us is then free to join with Love everywhere and in everyone.

We set aside our learning from the past through forgiveness. We must be willing to let the Holy Spirit teach us to recognize what is true and what could never be true. It is only the wish for the untrue to be real that needs to be forgiven or let go. Today we practice opening our minds to the Holy Spirit’s vision of Love that we may give God’s Love everywhere.
