I place the future in the Hands of God.

Mary:
This morning we were guided to read Lesson 194, “I place the future in the Hands of God.” This is what stood out to me

As [I place the future in the hands of God} becomes a thought that rules your mind, a habit in your problem-solving repertoire, a way of quick reaction to temptation, you extend your learning to the world. And as you learn to see salvation in all things, so will the world perceive that it is safe. (W-pI.194.6:2-3)

In truth, we are all safe. In truth the future holds nothing but the Love of God. My focus today and every day is to remember that this is true and nothing else is true. Remembering this brings me peace and joy. It is my practice to let it become a thought that rules my mind, an automatic habit in my problem-solving repertoire. As I consistently remember to place the future in the Hands of God, my mind is healed and I extend healing to the world. And I give thanks for this remembering.

Robert:
I have observed as I watch my thoughts that I more quickly recognize judgments as they come up and frequently follow the judgmental thought with the idea, “It doesn’t matter.” When I do this, I experience relief. It’s like a pressure relief valve. Judgment brings with it the “pressure” of guilt. But when I remember it doesn’t matter, the guilt is released and the pressure disappears. Because of this practice, I am much less likely to get involved in discussions about things in the world and my days are more peaceful. Nothing in the world matters because only Love matters.

I have also observed that there is an area that I tend to protect from this practice. When it comes to the future, I am more likely to be tempted to make plans on my own and engage in them fully for a while before I recognize what I am doing. This is why it is important for me to add this valuable tool to my problem-solving repertoire: “I place the future in the Hands of God.” The more quickly I apply this idea to my temptations to plan, the greater will be my peace. I will remember I am safe and all my needs are met by the Source of all supply.

Today I will practice applying the happy idea, “I place the future in the Hands of God.”

I Rest in God

Robert:
I rest in God today, certain of His care and of His strength in me. I rest in God as I accept the Love He has given me. I rest in God when I see the Love and innocence in my brother.

There is no need to plan to protect myself from an unknown future. The future is here, now, as I rest in God. All His gifts are mine because He has given them to all. I have but one need and that is to extend the Love that is eternally given me by Love Itself. As I see the Love, I am the Love and I rest in God.

Holy Spirit, help me to see only Love today.

Mary:
In quiet, I hear Kathy reminding me again and again, “Only Love matters.” I rejoice with her in this wonderful time of awakening to the truth that we all are Love and only Love matters. I give time to remembering this truth today.

Rest in Love Today

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Nothing the body’s eyes show you will save you or set you free. It is in the recognition that everything the body’s eyes see has no meaning that you are released from the belief in separation. You cannot reach this recognition on your own because nothing in the world can teach you this. But you have in your mind a Teacher Who will bring the full recognition to you of what is unreal and what is real.

Hold nothing back. Trust not in your own “ability” to interpret what anything in this world means. If you would be free and know the peace of God, you must step aside as your own interpreter, turn every interpretation over to the Holy Spirit and open your mind to His replacement. Anything you withhold from Him will only prolong your experience of the hell you made.

The body can only perceive conflict and this is hell. The Holy Spirit sees no conflict and when you allow His interpretation to replace yours, you will withdraw all meaning you give to the world. The meaning that the Holy Spirit replaces it with is Love. He will teach you that only Love is there to see. Only Love is there to be. Rest in Love today by letting Him be your interpreter.

Mary:
Today it is my opportunity to remember that I rest in God today. I rest in Love, now and forever. Today it is my opportunity to remember that this is true about everyone I perceive in the world. No matter what fear thoughts may come up for us, the truth is we all rest in God.

Loss is not possible in God and we all remain in God. What God creates is eternal and only what God creates is true. My practice for today is to remember that I rest in God all through the day. What peace and joy come with remembering this.

Let Yourself Be Carried to the Vision of Christ

Robert:
It is clear to me that the more I withdraw the importance I give to the forms of the world and redirect my valuing to the reality of Love that is everywhere, the happier I am. Happiness is an attribute of Love. As I let Holy Spirit show me the Love beyond every image, happiness is inevitable.

I want to be happy. To be happy I need only be willing to let go of everything I value in the world of form and let Holy Spirit show me the Love that is always there. It is my judgments that make life seem complicated. It is forgiveness that simplifies life and makes way for the happiness God wills for me and everyone.

My prayer today is very simple: Holy Spirit, help me to see the Love beyond every image.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Remember that the world you see through the body’s eyes is just illusion because separate forms are not of God. Once you remember that it is an illusion, you can take the next step with Me. I will show you the reality beyond every illusion, if you are willing.

You see what you want to see. Join with Me to see Christ’s vision. You can tell if you have joined with Me by the level of peace you feel. Accept the peace I extend to you and let yourself be carried to the vision of Christ. This is your practice today.

Let Me See Truly

Robert:
This is my prayer today:
Holy Spirit, let me see as You see. Let me see the Love that is everywhere and joins me with all that is. Let me feel the peace that Love brings with it. Let me know the joy that is God’s promise to His Creation. Let me see this in every brother and in every situation, for I would remember my Home. Amen

Mary:
I join Robert in this one focus for today.

Loving Transition

We had a significant experience last night and this morning that we would like to share with you. It started with a message that came in on our voice mail at 11:30 p.m. The call was from Bob Thompson, a Pathways minister for many years. In the message he briefly shared that his wife, Rev. Kathy Thompson, had passed on in a one car accident yesterday afternoon. A few minutes later a call came from Rev. Laurie Immekus, another Pathways minister, who is Kathy’s close friend. She told us that she would be going over to be with Bob in the morning and help with whatever needed to be done.

Mary:
After these calls, as I lay in bed, I joined with Kathy, remembering that all minds that appear separated in the dream are really joined. I asked Kathy what she was learning with her transition experience. The response I received was, “Only Love matters.” I smiled as I heard this because, knowing Kathy, she demonstrated this every day of her life while she appeared to be in a body. The feeling that came with this joining was an expansive sense of peace. She did not feel lost or confused, but became aware of a much bigger and expanded ability to serve the awakening, and “only Love matters” is the central focus.

We talked to Bob by phone early this morning. He had been unable to sleep all night. We joined with him and with Kathy. In our joining, Kathy shared about her purpose now, without the limits of the body. She and Bob joined in one purpose when they first met to focus on awakening to Love and sharing it with everyone. That purpose is now expanded as Kathy joins with us without the body’s limitations. She impressed on us that she is still with us, joined with our minds, following Holy Spirit’s lead. While here in a body, her focus was consistently on “joyning” (as she liked to spell it).

It feels like this is a very exciting time for Bob and Kathy. Together they will be able to demonstrate that there is no death. The only thing that really matters is the Love we extend. While Bob will have to adjust to this sudden change in appearance, his process of moving past focus on appearances to remembering that minds are joined and not limited by the body will be a lesson that extends beyond him and Kathy. Bob shared that he has already had an opportunity to share this lesson with some who have called him expressing their grief.

The message is, “There is no death. The Son of God is free to awaken and be glad. The truth is that nothing has happened to change God’s one Son.” We can witness to truth instead of illusion and extend the happy awareness that everyone is the eternal Spirit of Love. We can shed the old worn out ideas of limitation and loss as a butterfly leaves its cocoon.

In our reading this morning we were led to the beginning of Chapter 26, appropriately titled, “The Transition.” What stood out to us was, “Hear, then, the song your brother sings to you, and let the world recede, and take the rest his witness offers on behalf of peace. But judge him not, for you will hear no song of liberation for yourself, nor see what it is given him to witness to, that you may see it and rejoice with him.” (T-26.I.6:3-4) Kathy is witnessing to the song of liberation on behalf of peace. As we are willing to join with her in witnessing to the truth of oneness, we experience the freedom of the butterfly ourselves.

We are very grateful for this opportunity to join in remembering there is no death, and that we are all free to follow Holy Spirit’s gentle plan of awakening. As we surrender all that we think we know, we are brought to the awareness of our real Life in which we remember that “only Love matters.”

Let Go of All Values of the World

Robert:
Again and again, in many ways, A Course in Miracles tells me that if I want to be happy, I need to let go of all values of the world. When I’m honest with myself, the evidence in my experience is irrefutable that this is true. Yet I seem to so easily fall into mindlessly drifting through the day making judgments about what is valuable and what is not without even noticing. I understand that this is just resistance. The long established habit of identifying myself with a body brings with it the need to see the world as real. Judgment is one of the principle tools of the ego to make the world seem real.

But this is not getting me what I really want. So with gentleness and patience, I need to be persistent in paying attention of when I am falling into judgmental patterns and bring them to the Holy Spirit for His correction. It is worth the effort, for each time I do release my judgments to the Holy Spirit, I experience relief and peace and increased happiness. I am worthy of these gifts because God created me worthy by giving them to me through His creation.

So today is another day to practice; a day to take another step closer to the full experience of the peace of God. Just do it!

Mary:
In our reading in ACIM this morning I was reminded that all of God has been given to everyone. This ideas is opposite to the world’s perception where if someone gains, someone else must lose. I am willing to let go of the idea that anyone could lose. Loss is impossible if all of God has been given to everyone.

My job today is accept what God has given instead of denying it. Accepting God’s gifts means accepting what God knows about every brother. God knows only of the Christ in them and myself. Am I willing to accept God today as God is and see Him in every brother? This what today is for and nothing more.
