Holy Spirit’s Presence

Robert:
Today I read in the Song of Prayer:

Prayer for specifics always asks to have the past repeated in some way. What was enjoyed before, or seem to be; what was another’s and he seemed to love,—all these are but illusions from the past. The aim of prayer is to release the present from its chains of past illusions; to let it be a freely chosen remedy from every choice that stood for a mistake. (S-1.IV.3:3-5)

I see that attempting to make plans on my own is like praying for things. It is attempting to build a future that in some way repeats the past. Since my “learning” from the past is severely limited, my own attempts to plan are confined by this limitation. This is why it is essential that I make no plans on my own. I want to release the present from the chains of the past. Another way to say this is that I want to move out of the box of my limited awareness.

Today I ask the Holy Spirit to help me release the past and open to His limitless vision. This is how I will serve the awakening. This is how I will experience true happiness. I am grateful for the Holy Spirit’s presence in my mind that is the means for my release.

Mary:
My prayer today is to be aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit in my mind. Choosing peace and allowing peace to return to my mind paves the way to opening my mind to the Holy Spirit’s healing Light.

Here I find rest. Here I am comforted. Here I remember that everything is all right. Here I am told everything I need to know in the present moment to heal my mind. I give thanks for the gift I receive from the Holy Spirit. Amen.

If It Is Not Love, It Is an Illusion

Robert:
The ego is terrified of now. Its only seeming anchor is the past. But now cannot be experienced with the past. Without the past the ego feels helpless and hopeless. It tries to imagine the future built upon the past. it builds complex plans in which it weaves past learning into an image that it believes will make it safe.

But none of this can be brought into the now moment because now is completely free of the past. Clean and pure, it contains all of Creation, all of Love. Because Love is changeless, the only place eternal safety can be found is in the present, eternal now. If I would experience the changeless peace of God, I must be willing to lay down the ego’s frantic efforts to plan for safety. The ego knows not of safety because it is the denial of the changeless.

Though I am tempted to join with the ego’s planning, I must remember that the ego is not me. I am the Self that Love created, changeless as Itself, eternally safe. When I feel helpless, concerned, uncertain, it is just a signal that I am believing in a false image of myself. It is a signal for me to offer this image to the Holy Spirit to be purified and transformed. As I accept the Holy Spirit’s clear vision, I remember my Self and the safety of my Home.

Mary:
We are working with a group on Saturday mornings. The purpose of our weekly gathering is to reinforce our process of awakening as we go deeply into the message of the booklet, The Song of Prayer. As I daily work on the practice of awakening from the dream, I am learning to ask myself frequently, “What am I praying for right now?” Am I feeling that I am vulnerable and alone and in need of something? If so, then I am at the bottom of the ladder of prayer, asking for something (some form) that I think I need. Am I remembering that I am pure Spirit, joined with all that is and in need of nothing? Then I simply rejoice that I have all that I need and am in full gratitude that I am one with all of God’s gifts.

During the day as I watch where I am on the ladder of prayer, I see clearly that I am always praying. Am I willing to remember the truth today? When I see that I have forgotten one more time, a habit that I am reinforcing is to once again choose peace, which is the condition to becoming aware of Love’s Presence. For me, choosing peace is the gateway to returning to the awareness of the truth — that if it is not Love, it is an illusion. The good news is that behind every illusion, as the veil is lifted through my willingness, only Love is there.

As I practice remembering this again and again, I give thanks. I do not go Home alone. Everyone is there with me in Heaven, Where we all reside. Remembering this is my prayer today.

In the Stillness…

Mary:
As I go into a place of peace, I am gently reminded that there is no past, there is no future. There is only the eternal NOW. I am quietly asked to rest here for a while… If any thoughts about the past or future come up, I am guided to let them slide on by…. I am guided to relax deeply… soften… and go into a place of stillness… I am guided to breathe deeply and relax even further… letting all worldly concerns fall away… Here I find peace… Here I find a sense of well being… Here I know that everything is all right… There is nothing to fear… all is well… everything is working in perfect order…

Robert:
My job is to withdraw the purpose I have given to the dream and all its circumstances, events and figures. As I let this go I make room for the Holy Spirit’s purpose for the dream. When I accept His purpose in place of my own, the dream becomes the means of awakening from the dream instead of going deeper into it. Today is another day to let go and let God. I know this is the way to quiet joy and perfect peace.

The Gift of Heaven

Mary:
This morning we read A Course in Miracles chapter 19, section D.i., “The Lifting of the Veil.” What stood out to me in this section is, “Heaven is the gift you owe your bother, the debt of gratitude you offer to the Son of God in thanks for what he is, and what his Father created him to be.” (T-19.IV.D.i.19:6)

I see that this is my practice today: To offer Heaven to every brother I see or even think of. My job is to remember that every brother is still as God created him. My job is to remember that he is Heaven to me. He not only is in Heaven but he is Heaven, as am I. My job is to remember again and again throughout the day that we all are in Heaven and of Heaven Where we were created. Remembering this brings me joy. My job is to be willing to remember this truth today. This will guarantee me a happy day. And I give thanks.

Robert:
I offer Heaven to my brother by seeing him as he is: Innocence and Love, and nothing else. My brother is not a body whose appearance and action I may judge. My brother is the Spirit of Love. When I can see my brother as he is, he reflects back to me What I am. So in the giving, I receive. That’s really cool.

Thank you Father for your law that giving and receiving are the same in You. It is impossible to bless without being blessed.

Return to Truth. Return to Joy.

Robert:
Today we read A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 135 where it tells us that we have no idea the happiness we would experience if we simply accepted God’s plan for us. It reminded me of another lesson which says that God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. So when I attempt to plan on my own, I am denying God’s plan and actually defending against my happiness. That’s the opposite of what the ego would have me believe.

When I look at how I experience a typical day, I see that I attempt to do a lot of planning on my own. Thanks to practicing Course principles, I am happier than I have ever been. Yet when I recognize how much I still attempt to plan on my own, I see that I still limit the happiness I allow myself to experience. I’ve only gotten a tiny taste of the joy Love offers me in every moment.

Though part of me obviously resists, I really do want the joy that is my inheritance. It’s all I really want. And so today I will practice once again being vigilant for Love by being mindful of my state of peace and stepping back whenever I recognize my peace is disturbed in any way. Today is an opportunity to take a giant stride toward perfect happiness.

Mary:
As I go into a place of quiet and listen, I am reminded that in truth we are all in Heaven now. We are all in God’s perfect Light. We are all still in the Mind of God and nowhere else. We have not changed one thing in our wild imaginings. We are all safe and remain as God created us. Remembering this and feeling this brings me to a deep sense of peace and well being. In truth, all is well. There is nothing to fear. The whole ego thought system of individuality in truth is nothing and nowhere.

I am seeing how important it is to stop frequently throughout the day and let my mind return to the truth of our oneness in God. I have great gratitude that what is eternally true can never change. Dreaming of being on a distant shore, apart and separate, does nothing in reality. Love is. God is. Anything “else” is merely illusions and could never be real. My only prayer today is that I let my mind be returned to the truth through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Make Way for Love’s Extension

Robert:
My prayer for today: May all my thoughts, words and actions today reflect God’s Love. If fear or guilt arise in any form, I would release them to the Holy Spirit to be cleansed and make way for Love’s extension. This is my purpose and my goal today. Amen.

Mary:
Today I would practice remembering that peace is my one goal, my purpose for living here. Today I will practice remembering to choose peace, which opens the door to hearing the Holy Spirit and following the Holy Spirit’s lead.

Holy Spirit’s Way to a Happy Easter

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Today is a day set aside to celebrate resurrection. Remember that the body is an illusion, so resurrection of the body is meaningless. But resurrection of your memory of your Self is everything because it is the return to the life you have in God. There is no other life.

Without belief in separation, there would be no need for resurrection. But belief in separation is belief in death and so resurrection is needed to return your awareness to the Life that is yours. Let today be a joyous celebration that you have never left your Home in Life, in God. Let this celebration be all inclusive, leaving no one out, for all are one with you in the Life God shares with you.

Happy awakening! Happy Easter!

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Celebrate this day be letting the Christ mind return to your awareness. Allow the resurrection of the truth in you, the Light of God you are.

You do this by being willing to let go of the false self image that you once believed in. As you let this false image fall away, you make room for the resurrection of your true Self. This is accomplished by the Holy Spirit, your inner Teacher, as you are willing to let go of control and follow your inner Teacher’s lead. Celebrate Easter the Holy Spirit’s way. Let the Holy Spirit bring you to your resurrection. Let the truth about What you are and Where you are return to your holy mind.
