Quiet Listening

Mary:
In our reading in A Course in Miracles this morning, what stood out to me is, “I will be still and let the earth be still along with me. And in that stillness we will find the peace of God. It is within my heart, which witnesses to God Himself.” (W-pI.208.1:2-4)

Here I am reminded that it is in the stillness that I find the peace of God. This reminds me to give time for stillness which leaves an open door for God to enter. Many times I get so busy with the activities of the world that I forget to leave time for stillness. The Course says that God is very quiet and in quietness is every problem quietly resolved.

I am determined to allow time for quietness today. When my mind is quiet, I do feel very peaceful. As I allow frequent times for quiet, the Holy Spirit has an opportunity to bring me the inspiration I need in the moment. This is an important way that I can let peace lead the way today. I will still get all my work done, for Holy Spirit is a master at time management.

Holy Spirit, You know the way that is best for me today. My job is to allow frequent times for quiet listening. In quietness is every problem quietly resolved.

Holy Spirit to Robert:
There is no conflict in God. Being One, there are no alternatives to choose between. There is only the joy of eternally extending Love. There is no other alternative that is worthy of the Son of God. This lack of alternatives is not a limitation. It is freedom to be your Self. It is freedom to be joyous. It is freedom to be peaceful.

The wish for alternatives is the wish for limitation, for it denies the allness of Love. Seek not to place a limit on yourself. Rather, seek to release all limits you have laid upon yourself with the wish for specialness. With this release the limitlessness of your Self is revealed and you remember Who you are. Join Me today in remembering the holy Son of God, your Self.

Remember to See the Truth

Robert:
One of the early lessons in the Workbook of A Course in Miracles tells us “God is in everything I see.” A little later on another lesson says, “My holiness envelopes everything I see.” These are really saying the same thing. Since only Love/God is real, God is everywhere. Since God/Love created us like Itself, not only is Love everywhere to be seen, It is what I am in truth.

The forms that are seen through the body’s eyes are simply images that have nothing to do with reality. As I learn to recognize God in everything I see and accept that only Love has meaning, I learn to give no meaning to the images the body’s eyes show me. Since I was created as Love, and Love is innocent, of course my holiness/Love envelopes everything I see. As I learn to accept the Love I am, I will see only Love.

In another early lesson we are given a representative list of unloving thoughts including depression, worry and insecurity. It is helpful to recognize these as indicators that I am identifying with an unloving image of myself and the world. I have forgotten the limitless Love that is the truth about me. I am not recognizing the holiness/Love that is everywhere to be seen.

Today I ask Holy Spirit to help me see past the images of the world to the reality of Love that is everywhere. With this practice I will bless and be blessed, for I will be remembering Who I am along with all my brothers.

Mary:
Today I ask to remember simple, uncomplicated Love. Simple, uncomplicated Love is found behind all the complexity of ego thoughts which parade through my mind.

My job today is to watch the thoughts and be willing to let go of the ego thoughts and seek instead simple, uncomplicated Love, which is the Thought of God. Here is my real mind. Here is my real Identity for I still am as God created me. Everyone is still as God created them. Nothing could every really happen to change God’s one Son.

I choose to remember to see the truth today. If I find myself seeing something else and believing in it, I simply practice choosing once again, this time with the Holy Spirit as my Guide.

Accept Perfect Happiness

Robert:
Today we read in A Course in Miracles that if we are not experiencing supreme happiness, we are believing in death, a synonym for separation. What is interesting is that any experience of less than perfect happiness is self-imposed. God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. If I’m not experiencing that, I am dreaming of opposing His Will. In truth there is no will opposite to God’s. But I can dream a story that is not true and even believe it is true. With that belief I experience it as if it were true.

It is really very simple to recognize whether or not I am accepting God’s Will. If I’m not supremely happy, I am denying His Will. Thus I need to bring every experience that is not supreme happiness to the Holy Spirit and ask for His clarification of what’s real and what is not. As I learn what is not real, it is easily let go. This is forgiveness. Today I will practice this. I am willing to make way for perfect happiness.

Mary:
Today when I go into a place of quiet and listen to the Holy Spirit, I hear simply, “Let go and let God. That is all you need to remember today. Letting go means letting all the little ego thoughts that come into your mind pass by. Just let them pass by. You need not grab on to them or dwell on them. You need not give them a home in your mind. Just let them pass by. This leaves an open space that allows the truth to enter. In truth we share one Life and that is the Life of God. We share the same peace. We share the same Love. Love is sharing one Identity.

“Today your practice is to just remember this and let it fill your mind with Its infinite wisdom. ‘Let go and let God.’ That’s all you need to practice today. That is enough to free your mind of all the ego’s false ideas. Herein lies your happiness. Herein lies your peace.”

The Unity of Love

Mary:
In our reading in A Course in Miracles this morning, this is what stood out to me: “Only in time does interference in God’s completion seem to be possible. The bridge that He would carry you across lifts you from time into eternity. Waken from time, and answer fearlessly the call of Him Who gave eternity to you in your creation. On this side of the bridge to timelessness you understand nothing. But as you step lightly across it, upheld by timelessness, you are directed straight to the Heart of God.” (T-16.IV.13:3-7)

As I open my mind to timelessness, I am led to a greater awareness of union. Here there is peace. Here there is rest in God’s Love without the defense of specialness. My job today is to be open to the awareness of Holy Spirit’s timelessness. Here there is no past and no future. Only the eternal now. Here there is union. Here there is peace.

My job is to let the veil be lifted today. And when I find myself getting lost in illusions again and again, my job is to let it go one more time and be returned to the union which is beyond time. This is what leads me to the Heart of God, to the heart of eternal happiness. This is the practice that is before me today as I take the journey without distance.

Robert:
If I would remember the unity of Love, I must make no interpretations on my own. The Holy Spirit is ever present in my mind to interpret truly on my behalf. I must only be willing to accept His interpretation in every moment. Today I will practice holding my mind open with willingness and being attentive to Holy Spirit’s vision in every moment. With this practice, the Love that is beyond all images will always be apparent. And in the unity of that Love, I will walk in perfect peace. That is my practice today.

Step Back and Let Him Lead the Way

Mary:
Yesterday during the Sunday Service teleconference, we read together the last section of the Text in A Course in Miracles titled, “Choose Once Again.” It was such a powerful lesson to read as a group with all the sharing. I was reminded that I am always choosing between illusions and the truth.

Today I have another opportunity to remember the truth that we all are Spirit and nothing else. We all are still as God created us and nothing has happened to change God’s one Son. Today I am presented with another opportunity to remember that only the truth is true and nothing else is true. The eternal Spirit that lies within us all is what is true. Anything that changes within the realm of time and space is not true.

This is my opportunity today to choose once again with Holy Spirit as my guide. My only job is to step back and let Him lead the way. This is how I am saved from believing in illusions. Giving time in the service of awakening is my only function, and I give thanks that the Holy Spirit is right there, leading the way.

Robert:
I rest in God. That is the changeless truth about everyone. I rest in God. Rest can be found nowhere else, for in truth there is nowhere else.

As I practice observing my thoughts, it seems amazing that I so frequently let my thoughts wander into thoughts of judgment, vulnerability and loss. In God loss is impossible. That is why only in God is true rest possible. What is changeless is perfect peace because there is no “threat” of change or loss.

The environment of changelessness is my natural home. If anything disturbs my peace, any thought, any judgment of a circumstance or some “other” person, I have forgotten Where I am in truth. I have forgotten What I am and am believing in a false image of my identity. In truth I rest in God. If I am not experiencing the rest of perfect peace, I am believing in an illusion of my identity.

When I recognize this, there is a simple remedy: Bring the thought to the Holy Spirit and ask for His gentle correction. When I am willing to step back and let Him lead the way, I am always led to changeless peace.

Accepting Holy Spirit’s Help

Robert:
Now that we have completed the moving of all of our equipment and furnishings from St. Cloud to Sanford, Florida, we have the opportunity to practice staying in the present moment as we unpack and find places for the many little things that we use in our daily activity. Like everything else in this world, if I am willing to let the Holy Spirit guide, He will use each circumstance on behalf of demonstrating what’s valuable and what’s valueless, what’s helpful and what does not serve.

What’s important is that I make no decisions on my own. This is a training opportunity in which I can accept Holy Spirit’s lessons in awakening or turn my back and do it alone. When I try to do it alone, I simply reinforce the sense of separation and isolation that comes with the ego thought system. Very quickly the process of something as simple as unpacking boxes becomes stressful.

Thinking I need to make decisions on my own will always bring stress with it, because it is attempting to maintain the unnatural state of seeming to be separate from God. This is not what I want. I choose instead to hold Holy Spirit’s hand in all my doing and let Him use each moment as a lesson in awakening. I am deeply grateful to know that I have this choice and I choose it now.

Mary:
We have had so much activity lately that it is nice to have time to be quiet… God is found in stillness. Allowing time for stillness and letting my mind quiet of all worldly activities is very important for me to be truly helpful in this world. Giving time for receiving God’s infinite peace is very important…

In this place of inner quiet, the veil is lifted and God’s gift of peace is received and extended. God’s gift of inner happiness and sense of well being is received and extended to all…

There is a world beyond this world that we all belong to… It is our Home… Giving time to accepting the real world that the Holy Spirit brings has great value and I am willing to accept it now… It is only as I am willing to receive the truth that I can extend the truth… This is my job today. This is how I help myself and every brother.

Accept the Light That You Are

Holy Spirit to Mary:
Rest in God where He would have you be…  Melt into God’s peace…

Accept the Light that you are… Accept the truth about the Light every brother is in truth… Rest in the truth today…

Robert:
A Course in Miracles tells us, “Leave, then, your needs to Him. He will supply them with no emphasis at all upon them. What comes to you of Him comes safely, for He will insure it never can become a dark spot, hidden in your mind and kept to hurt you. Under His guidance you will travel light and journey lightly, for His sight is ever on the journey’s end, which is His goal.” (T-13.13:1-4)

Mary and I have completed our move from St. Cloud, Florida to Sanford, Florida, about 25 miles north of Orlando. (The Pathways of Light business office remains in Kiel, Wisconsin.) There are still many boxes to unpack but it is a good feeling to remember that as we follow the Holy Spirit, all our needs are met. When we let the Holy Spirit be our guide, we do not carry excess baggage so we journey lightly.

We are moving on to another chapter in our journey of awakening. No matter what it looks like in form, there is only one goal — to remember the Love we are and to see it everywhere. The process of this move has been delightfully seasoned with many blessings through connections with helpful people and the gentle unfolding of events as we follow Holy Spirit’s lead. The more we remember that the only value of any form in the world is how it serves the Holy Spirit’s purpose, the more we travel light. In truth, the Light of God is our own.

Today as I focus on following Holy Spirit’s lead, whether I am unpacking a box, setting up equipment or on the phone, I will journey lightly and remember that I am eternally safe in God’s Love.
