Let the Light of God Within Shine Forth

The peace of God is shining in you now, and in all living things. In quietness is it acknowledged universally. For what your inward vision looks upon is your perception of the universe.

Sit quietly and close your eyes. The light within you is sufficient. It alone has power to give the gift of sight to you. Exclude the outer world, and let your thoughts fly to the peace within. They know the way. For honest thoughts, untainted by the dream of worldly things outside yourself, become the holy messengers of God Himself. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.188.5:5-7;6:1-6)

My practice for today is to consistently open my mind to receive God’s peace. When I allow myself to accept peace, what seems complicated becomes simple. God’s peace and Love go together and help me see the world anew. What is important is to be receptive to God’s peace consistently. This is a very important practice for today.

A metaphor that helps me understand how it works to use the Light of God for all my seeing is to remember what it’s like to see a movie on a screen. Images are projected on a screen and reflected back to me in a darkened room. I can only see these images in the dark. If the lights are turned on (a.k.a. letting the Light of God in me shine forth) the projected images on the screen fade away and the Light of God shining from me is reflected back.

My practice today is to let God’s Light in me shine forth in peace so that I may see this Light reflected back to me in all my seeing. This is how I will recognize this same Light everywhere I look.
