Letting Go of Thinking We Already Know

When your peace is threatened or disturbed in any way, say to yourself:

I do not know what anything, including this, means. And so I do not know how to respond to it. And I will not use my own past learning as the light to guide me now.

By this refusal to attempt to teach yourself what you do not know, the Guide Whom God has given you will speak to you. He will take His rightful place in your awareness the instant you abandon [your past learning], and offer it to Him.

It is only because you think that you can run some little part, or deal with certain aspects of your life alone, that the guidance of the Holy Spirit is limited. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.XI.6:6-11;8:4. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

In any now moment we are choosing between following the ego thought system or following the Holy Spirit, our inner Teacher. If we are not in peace, we have chosen the ego and are trying to use our past learning as our guide.

As we consistently practice opening to our true Self, the feeling of angst will be replaced by peace. The darkness disappears when we let the Holy Spirit be in charge of our mind. In this happy place, the Holy Spirit brings what is need to our awareness in order to be truly helpful. Our trust in the Holy Spirit is strengthened and ego thoughts fade into the nothingness from which they came.

Choosing peace is the same as choosing our inner Teacher to be our Guide. As we continue practicing, our trust in our inner Teacher grows stronger day by day. We learn to laugh at fear thoughts as we see the ego thoughts for what they are instead of giving them power by believing in them.

Today we rejoice by remembering that we do not know what anything means and consistently choose the Guide That brings us peace and understanding. We are grateful for the miracles of true perception we receive from the Holy Spirit.
