We Rest in God

We rest in God. All His strength, all His Love and deep abiding peace are already given us. All we need do is accept His gifts and rest in the certainty that we remain in His changeless Love eternally.

We rest in God. Rest can be found nowhere else, for we remain one with Him, as He created us. We may seem to experience fatigue, uncertainty, fear and guilt, but these are only the effects of believing in a false image of What we are. We need only give up that false image to experience the comfort of resting in God.

Today we practice letting Holy Spirit guide our thoughts. Thus will we learn to disregard the false image and remember our true Self.

Accepting Ourselves as God Accepts Us

Father, Your Son is holy. I am he on whom You smile in love and tenderness so dear and deep and still the universe smiles back on You, and shares Your Holiness. How pure, how safe, how holy, then, are we, abiding in Your Smile, with all Your Love bestowed upon us, living one with You, in brotherhood and Fatherhood complete; in sinlessness so perfect that the Lord of Sinlessness conceives us as His Son, a universe of Thought completing Him. (A Course in Miracles W-pII.341.1)

Today we accept the truth that the whole Sonship is a universe of Thought that completes God. We see our holiness as we see our brothers’ holiness. We recognize that this willingness to remember the truth is what keeps us safe. As we hold this truth in our hearts, we see everyone as our mighty Companions on our journey of awakening to the Home we never really left.

We Walk to God

Step back in faith and let truth lead the way. You know not where you go. But One Who knows goes with you. Let Him lead you with the rest.

We walk to God. Pause and reflect on this. Could any way be holier, or more deserving of your effort, of your love and of your full intent? What way could give you more than everything, or offer less and still content the holy Son of God? We walk to God. The truth that walks before us now is one with Him, and leads us to where He has always been. What way but this could be a path that you would choose instead? (A Course in Miracles W-pI.155.10:3-6;12)

We walk to God by being willing to be shown the truth. Each time we accept the truth we are shown, we take another step closer to remembering that we, in fact, never left God. Truth will always show us innocence, for truth is Love and nothing else.

If we feel defensive, guilty, sad or afraid, we must not be seeing the innocence and Love that truth would show us. The antidote is always to step back and let truth lead the way. Truth will always show us there is no cause for guilt or fear, sadness or loss. The certainty and joy of God are ours, given us in our Creation.

Our practice today is to be mindful of our thoughts and emotions. As we recognize any thoughts or feelings that are not aligned with the Love and joy of God, our practice is to bring these to the truth in our minds, our true Self. As we accept the true perception of our Self, our minds are corrected and we see truly. This is how we walk to God today.

Letting Holy Spirit Extend Peace Through You

As peace extends from deep inside yourself to embrace all the Sonship and give it rest, it will encounter many obstacles. Some of them you will try to impose. Others will seem to arise from elsewhere; from your brothers, and from various aspects of the world outside. Yet peace will gently cover them, extending past completely unencumbered. The extension of the Holy Spirit’s purpose from your relationship to others, to bring them gently in, is the way in which He will bring means and goal in line. The peace He lay, deep within you and your brother, will quietly extend to every aspect of your life, surrounding you and your brother with glowing happiness and the calm awareness of complete protection. (A Course in Miracles T-19.IV.1:1-6)

Today our practice is to let the Holy Spirit extend peace through us. As we give our full attention to the peace within, it naturally embraces everything around us, and we receive its blessing as peace is reflected back to us. This focus on opening to Holy Spirit’s peace brings with it the calm awareness of complete protection. By accepting Holy Spirit’s peace, we have put Him in charge of our day. And we give thanks.

Healing Artificial Values

Heaven Itself is reached with empty hands and open minds, which come with nothing to find everything and claim it as their own. We will attempt to reach this state today, with self-deception laid aside, and with an honest willingness to value but the truly valuable and the real.

…I will not value what is valueless, and only what has value do I seek, for only that do I desire to find.

Should you begin to let yourself collect some needless burdens, or believe you see some difficult decisions facing you, be quick to answer with this simple thought: 

…I will not value what is valueless, for what is valuable belongs to me. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.133.13:1-2,4;14:2-3)

Today we open our minds to our inner Teacher… Today we choose to wake up from the dream of separation… Today we practice opening our minds to Holy Spirit’s bridge of return to Heaven… Today we open to the simple, uncomplicated Love that lies beyond the complexity of the dream of separate bodies. We allow our true Self to help us rise above to see the Love in every situation today. We are willing to remember that our real Life is the Life we live in God’s perfect Love.

Seeing Every Circumstance with Holy Spirit

This is the lesson God would have you learn: There is a way to look on everything that lets it be to you another step to Him, and to salvation of the world. To all that speaks of terror, answer thus:

I will forgive, and this will disappear.

To every apprehension, every care and every form of suffering, repeat these selfsame words. And then you hold the key that opens Heaven’s gate, and brings the Love of God the Father down to earth at last, to raise it up to Heaven. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.193.13:1-5)

The truth is we are still as God created us and nothing has happened to change God’s one Son. Love does not come and go. Love does not change. We are still the same Love of God — changeless and eternal, as we have always been and always will be. The circumstances in our dream story of being separate and alone do not change our Identity.

Forgiveness means letting go of the false identity found within the ego thought system of separation. Today’s practice is to forgive or let go of all we thought we were. As we are willing to see every circumstance with Holy Spirit, every situation becomes a lesson God would have us learn. It becomes a lesson of release from limitation and isolation into the oneness of Love. It is a lesson that leads to the joy of God.

From Unhappiness to Happiness

The attraction of guilt produces fear of love, for love would never look on guilt at all. It is the nature of love to look upon only the truth, for there it sees itself, with which it would unite in holy union and completion. As love must look past fear, so must fear see love not. For love contains the end of guilt, as surely as fear depends on it. Love is attracted only to love. Overlooking guilt completely, it sees no fear. Being wholly without attack, it could not be afraid. (A Course in Miracles T-19.IV.A.10:1-7)

There are only two thought systems to choose between as we go through the day. The ego thought system looks for separation by seeing differences and focuses only on what separate bodies say and do. The ego thought system, based on being separate from God and every brother, sees guilt everywhere. Guilt maintains separation, so the ego sees guilt as its salvation. The thought system of the Holy Spirit, on the other hand, sees past differences and knows that only Love is real. Awareness of Love’s presence brings gifts of peace, joy and everlasting happiness.

Today our practice is to pay close attention to which of these two thought systems we have joined with. We can tell by being mindful of our awareness of Love’s presence. If we find ourselves feeling upset, discouraged or not in a place of inner peace, we can step back, quiet our minds and ask the Holy Spirit to purify our thoughts to help us see past the images of separation to the truth that only Love is real. Vigilance and willingness to receive Holy Spirit’s help are the keys to free us from the bondage of the ego’s unhappy thought system of guilt and fear.
