A Day of Vigilance for Peace

Today we practice being vigilant for peace. Peace is the condition that makes way to receive Holy Spirit’s guidance and inspiration. We would follow. We would not lead. Our safety and our joy lie in following His lead and deciding nothing on our own. Together with Him we row gently down the stream and learn that this world is but a dream. With this practice we allow the Holy Spirit to use time for His purpose on our behalf. With Him this day brings us closer to our awakening to our Home in Heaven. And we give thanks.

Following Simple, Uncomplicated Love

Our purpose today is to follow the lead of simple, uncomplicated Love. We step back and let Love lead the way… We open our minds to Love’s quiet, comforting Presence… We soak in Love’s calm sea of peace… We receive Love’s gifts and extend Love’s gifts to all the world… We remember that the whole Sonship has not left God and that nothing has happened to change God’s one Son… We let God’s peace and joy into our minds and extend it to the world… This is our practice for today.

Seeing Past Guilt to Innocence

Your brother’s sinlessness is given you in shining light, to look on with the Holy Spirit’s vision and to rejoice in along with Him. For peace will come to all who ask for it with real desire and sincerity of purpose, shared with the Holy Spirit and at one with Him on what salvation is. Be willing, then, to see your brother sinless, that Christ may rise before your vision and give you joy. And place no value on your brother’s body, which holds him to illusions of what he is. It is his desire to see his sinlessness, as it is yours. And bless the Son of God in your relationship, nor see in him what you have made of him. (A Course in Miracles, T-20.VIII.3)

The greatest gift we can give to any brother is to be willing to see him as the Holy Spirit sees him. In truth he is still the pure Light of Love that God created him to be. This is the season of gift giving. Let’s focus on giving every brother the only thing that matters to his freedom and ours. Let’s commit to giving every brother his full due by seeing the truth in him. The truth is every brother is innocent, and so are we. Every brother is pure spirit.

What more valuable gift could we extend this holiday season? The only cost is our willingness to let go of our false images and to see with the vision the Holy Spirit shares with us. It is a gift we give ourselves as well. This is how we bring “peace on earth and good will toward all men.” What a happy holiday season we have before us to receive and give the vision of innocence.

Accepting Our One Self in Everyone

Father, we are like You. No cruelty abides in us, for there is none in You. Your peace is ours. And we bless the world with what we have received from You alone. We choose again, and make our choice for all our brothers, knowing they are one with us. We bring them Your salvation as we have received it now. And we give thanks for them who render us complete. In them we see Your glory, and in them we find our peace. Holy are we because Your Holiness has set us free. And we give thanks. Amen. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.170.13)

Our practice today is to let the Holy Spirit’s vision show us the innocence and Love in everyone. As we accept His vision we learn that our real Self is Love and innocence. This true vision is the basis for forgiveness. It shows us that we remain as God created us. It shines away the dark shadows that seem to justify a need to defend. It opens our awareness to the truth in ourselves and our brothers so that we welcome everyone into the circle of Love that is our Home. As we accept the Holy Spirit’s vision as our own, we accept our Self.

Peace First

Following Holy Spirit’s plan always leads to peace because it leads to God. In the world, Holy Spirit’s guidance is always with ease, the reflection of peace. Our practice today is to be vigilant for peace to let the ease of Holy Spirit’s guidance flow through. Struggle is of the ego. Peace is of God. As we choose God’s peace today, we make way for a day of gentleness and Love. And we give thanks.

Moving Past Judgment to Happiness

What is the ego? Nothingness, but in a form that seems like something. In a world of form the ego cannot be denied for it alone seems real. Yet could God’s Son as He created him abide in form or in a world of form? Who asks you to define the ego and explain how it arose can be but he who thinks it real, and seeks by definition to ensure that its illusive nature is concealed behind the words that seem to make it so.

The miracle forgives; the ego damns. Neither need be defined except by this. (A Course in Miracles, C-2.2:1-5;10:1-2)

In the world of form, the ego seems very real. We experience it in our sadness and in our anger, in our fear and in our guilt, in our vulnerability and in our loneliness. Yet this is just a story, made up of nothingness. It has less substance than a cloud that cannot support a feather.

The ego is held in place by judgment, for it is judgment that maintains a sense of separation. That is why forgiveness is the key to happiness. Forgiveness undoes the ego’s foundation. And without a foundation, the ego disappears into the nothingness from which it came.

Today our focus is to join with Holy Spirit and accept His help to let judgment go. With His help, we will see past judgment and experience the miracle of forgiveness. With each judgment released, we take a giant stride toward Heaven, our true Home. Moment by moment, we open our minds to Holy Spirit’s vision and we make way for happiness.

We Rest in God

As we go through our busy day today, we focus on the idea that we rest in God. This opens a door to the Light of truth that brings peace with it. This remembering helps us not take the world too seriously. We keep the door open to the Holy Spirit and allow ourselves to feel the river of peace flow through us as we walk through our day. We feel safe in God’s Love. We extend God’s Love and peace to everyone. We let ourselves become aware of our oneness with every brother and with our Creator. We let ourselves become aware that we rest in God all through the day. And we give thanks.
