Finding Our Way to Love’s Stillness

I have already chosen what You will.

Father, I thought I wandered from Your Will, defied it, broke its laws, and interposed a second will more powerful than Yours. Yet what I am in truth is but Your Will, extended and extending. This am I, and this will never change. As You are One, so am I one with You. And this I chose in my creation, where my will became forever one with Yours. That choice was made for all eternity. It cannot change, and be in opposition to itself. Father, my will is Yours. And I am safe, untrou­bled and serene, in endless joy, because it is Your Will that it be so.

Today we will accept our union with each other and our Source. We have no will apart from His, and all of us are one because His Will is shared by all of us. Through it we recognize that we are one. The appearance of bodies seems to make us separate from each other. But we all share God’s Will; we are united as one in His Will. God has shared with us all His attributes — His Love, joy and peace. This is our natural condition, the changeless state of our true Self.

If we experience any lack of Love, happiness or peace, we are denying God’s Will as ours. We can return to our true Self by forgiving the denial of His Will. Forgiveness is the key to happiness because it removes the barrier that blocks our awareness of the Will we share with God.

Today we take the Holy Spirit’s hand to let Him guide us past the images of denial of God’s Love. We follow Him to the Light of our true Self. He leads us to the stillness of our unity in Love with every brother and our Creator. Holding His Hand, we journey to our Home.

Accepting the Joy God Wills for Us

Holding grievances is an attack on God’s plan for salvation.

Holding grievances is an attempt to prove that God’s plan for salvation will not work. Yet only His plan will work. By holding grievances, I am therefore excluding my only hope of salvation from my awareness. I would no longer defeat my own best inter­ests in this insane way. I would accept God’s plan for salvation, and be happy.

Specific applications for this idea might be in these forms:

I am choosing between misperception and salvation as I look on this.
If I see grounds for grievances in this, I will not see the grounds for my salvation.
This calls for salvation, not attack. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 86, W-pI.86.3-4. See also ACIM Lesson 86 Insights.)

To be happy we need to accept God’s plan for salvation because God’s Will for His Son is perfect happiness. Every grievance, anything that disturbs our peace of mind, is a denial of God’s plan for our happiness. If we observe how we feel when we have a grievance, an unforgiveness, we see that consistently we are not happy.

Clearly the antidote for this unhappiness is forgiveness. But it is forgiveness that is not of this world. True forgiveness comes from accepting the Holy Spirit’s perception in the world in place of our own. Our perceptions are always based on fear.

For every unsettling or unhappy perception today, we ask the Holy Spirit to heal our fear-based thoughts. When we accept His healing, we are accepting God’s plan for our salvation. We are accepting God’s joy in the present and letting go of our grievances from the past. This practice will lead to a happy day today.

Remembering Our Source of True Safety

Your peace is with me, Father. I am safe.

Your peace surrounds me, Father. Where I go, Your peace goes there with me. It sheds its light on everyone I meet. I bring it to the desolate and lonely and afraid. I give Your peace to those who suffer pain, or grieve for loss, or think they are bereft of hope and happiness. Send them to me, my Father. Let me bring Your peace with me. For I would save Your Son, as is Your Will, that I may come to recognize my Self.

And so we go in peace. To all the world we give the message that we have received. And thus we come to hear the Voice for God, Who speaks to us as we relate His Word; Whose Love we recognize because we share the Word that He has given unto us. Whenever we feel fear, it is because we have accepted the ego belief that we are separate from our Love. The perception of lack of Love brings fear with it. The truth in us, our true Self remains eternally united in God’s Love. Our true Self shares His strength and His peace.

The Holy Spirit has been given us to teach us the truth of our eternal unity in Love. The practice of stepping back from our focus on the world opens our mind to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. It will guide us to remember that God’s Love for His Son is unchanging, given to us without limit. It assures us that nothing can happen to harm His Son, our Self.

Here we find peace in the midst of chaos. As we let the Holy Spirit guide us in this dream, we are led to be truly helpful in the world. With a peaceful heart we become messengers of God’s peace to the world.

Claiming the Strength of God Within

God is the strength in which I trust.

If you are trusting in your own strength, you have every reason to be apprehensive, anxious and fearful.

God is your safety in every circumstance. His Voice speaks for Him in all situations and in every aspect of all situations, telling you exactly what to do to call upon His strength and His protec­tion.

…reach down into your mind to a place of real safety. You will recognize that you have reached it if you feel a sense of deep peace, however briefly. Let go all the trivial things that churn and bubble on the surface of your mind, and reach down and below them to the Kingdom of Heaven. There is a place in you where there is perfect peace. There is a place in you where nothing is impossible. There is a place in you where the strength of God abides.

We cannot count on the world to provide safety and security. It is entirely an illusion. Illusions can change in an instant. What appears to be solid ground can turn out to be quicksand. The eternal changelessness of God is our only source of certainty and safety. We can count on It because It never changes. This is the Home of our true Self, which shares Its changelessness.

Our belief in being separate from God has banished His peace and Love from our awareness. We can recover awareness of His certainty by changing our mind about what we believe. To do this we need the help of the Holy Spirit to guide us.

When we feel anxious, confused or sad, we need to pause and step back from our focus on the world. Let our mind settle into the quiet peace within that is the Home of God. As we let peace become stronger in our awareness, God’s Voice becomes clear. We let It guide us to see past the transitory states of the world to the certainty of the Love we are, united in that Love with all that is real. We accept God’s strength as our own, for so it is in truth. We are at peace when we trust the strength of God in us.

Living in Love

All fear is past and only love is here.

All fear is past, because its source is gone, and all its thoughts gone with it. Love remains the only present state, whose Source is here forever and forever. Can the world seem bright and clear and safe and welcoming, with all my past mistakes oppressing it, and showing me distorted forms of fear? Yet in the present love is obvious, and its effects apparent. All the world shines in re­flection of its holy light, and I perceive a world forgiven at last.

Father, let not Your holy world escape my sight today. Nor let my ears be deaf to all the hymns of gratitude the world is singing underneath the sounds of fear. There is a real world which the present holds safe from all past mistakes. And I would see only this world before my eyes today. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 293, W-pII.293. Fear always comes from a perception of harm in the past applied to the present. This perception is projected onto the present, hiding it from our awareness. In this situation we are seeing memories from the past adapted to present appearances so that it seems new to us. But its foundation is always the same — the ego’s denial of Love.

The continuation of the ego’s dream of lovelessness depends upon continuing the perception of lack and loss from the past. Without the overlay of the past, the present moment would be revealed in the glorious Light of Love. Fear is impossible in this Light, for the reality of Love is accepted. Here we know we are perfectly safe in the changelessness of Love. In Love’s oneness, conflict is impossible and we rest in God’s peace.

Today we choose the Holy Spirit as our Guide. We seek His vision, moment by moment, to see past the dream of fear to the Love in which we live, united with every brother at Home in the Heart of God.

Finding the Happy Outcome God Promises

A happy outcome to all things is sure.

God’s promises make no exceptions. And He guarantees that only joy can be the final outcome found for everything. Yet it is up to us when this is reached; how long we let an alien will appear to be opposing His. And while we think this will is real, we will not find the end He has appointed as the outcome of all problems we perceive, all trials we see, and every situation that we meet. Yet is the ending certain. For God’s Will is done in earth and Heaven. We will seek and we will find according to His Will, which guarantees that our will is done.

We thank You, Father, for Your guarantee of only happy outcomes in the end. Help us not interfere, and so delay the happy endings You have promised us for every problem that we can perceive; for every trial we think we still must meet. When we identify with the ego, we are believing that the ego’s alien will is real and can actually oppose God’s Will. But the ego is not real; the belief that it is real is the source of all problems and unhappiness.

The ego is an unforgiving thought; a rebellion against God because He could not give special Love and remain the changeless Love He is. “Forgiveness is the key to happiness.” (Lesson 121) We need to forgive — let go of — the ego’s rebellion against God. This rebellious thought is disguised by many forms in the world.

Believing a brother is a body is a projection of the ego, an attempt to make separation real. The body seems to be capable of myriad forms of attack and justification for guilt. As we let the Holy Spirit teach us that bodies are not real and show us the Love the body hides, forgiveness clears the way to receive God’s Love. His Will for us is perfect happiness (Lesson 101). With His Love, we experience God’s joy as our own because we accept that our will is His Will in truth.

Today we welcome Christ’s vision, which shows us our unity with every brother in God’s Love. With this practice, a happy outcome is assured.

The Timelessness of Love

This instant is the only time there is.

I have conceived of time in such a way that I defeat my aim. If I elect to reach past time to timelessness, I must change my perception of what time is for. Time’s purpose cannot be to keep the past and future one. The only interval in which I can be saved from time is now. For in this instant has forgiveness come to set me free. The birth of Christ is now, without a past or future. He has come to give His present blessing to the world, restoring it to timelessness and love. And love is ever-present, here and now.

Thanks for this instant, Father. It is now I am redeemed. This in­stant is the time You have appointed for Your Son’s release, and for salvation of the world in him. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 308, W-pII.308. See also ACIM Lesson 308 Insights.)

Unforgiveness always depends upon a “memory” of the past. It looks upon the present through a distorting filter from the past that causes misperception. This process makes it impossible to truly perceive the present moment.

To the Holy Spirit, our true Self, the only meaningful purpose for time is to let the past go, to forgive. Without the shadows of the past, the Light of eternal Love shines in our mind. Love is now and always. Forgiveness releases the future from the past, letting the eternal now extend beyond time.

We want to remember our Identity as Love. Today we practice opening our mind to the vision of Christ Who looks past our misperceptions and sees Love radiate in us and through us.
