Christ Is Born in Us as We Extend Love

In this season (Christmas) which celebrates the birth of holiness into this world, join with me who decided for holiness for you. It is our task together to restore the awareness of magnitude to the host [His Son] whom God appointed for Himself. It is beyond all your littleness to give the gift of God, but not beyond you. For God would give Himself through you.

Is it a sacrifice to leave littleness behind, and wander not in vain? It is not sacrifice to wake to glory. But it is sacrifice to accept anything less than glory. Learn that you must be worthy of the Prince of Peace, born in you in honor of Him Whose host you are. …Before the greatness that lives in you, your poor appreciation of yourself and all the little offerings you give slip into nothingness.

I would but teach you what is yours, so that together we can replace the shabby littleness that binds the host of God to guilt and weakness with the glad awareness of the glory that is in him. My birth in you is your awakening to grandeur. Welcome me not into a manger, but into the altar to holiness, where holiness abides in perfect peace. My Kingdom is not of this world because it is in you. And you are of your Father. Let us join in honoring you, who must remain forever beyond littleness. In this world we are unaware of our unbreakable unity with our Creator. This eternal unity is the source of our magnitude, for God shares all of Himself with His Son.

It is time to accept God’s gift of all of His Love. We accept It as we let go of our judgments by forgiving our mistaken belief that it is possible to limit God’s Creation. His Creation is as unlimited as He is. There is no limit to His Love, which extends forever. Love by Its nature extends forever. To know of our magnitude we must remove the barriers in our mind that limit the extension of Love through us.

We choose to accept the Holy Spirit’s lessons which teach us to look past the false images of the ego’s dream to the presence of Love everywhere, always. This is how we accept our part in God’s extension of Love.

Seeing Love’s Reflection in the World

In this world you can become a spotless mirror, in which the Holiness of your Creator shines forth from you to all around you. You can reflect Heaven here. Yet no reflections of the images of other gods must dim the mirror that would hold God’s reflection in it. Earth can reflect Heaven or hell; God or the ego. You need but leave the mirror clean and clear of all the images of hidden darkness you have drawn upon it. God will shine upon it of Himself. Only the clear reflection of Himself can be perceived upon it.

Could you but realize for a single instant the power of healing that the reflection of God, shining in you, can bring to all the world, you could not wait to make the mirror of your mind clean to receive the image of the holiness that heals the world.

The response of holiness to any form of error is always the same. There is no contradiction in what holiness calls forth. Its one response is healing, without regard for what is brought to it. Those who have learned to offer only healing, because of the reflection of holiness in them, are ready at last for Heaven. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.IX.5;7:1;8:1-4. In Heaven there is no mirror, nothing to reflect. The Love of God is known in Its oneness. Love’s extension retains Its oneness. It is not projected onto anything outside because there is nothing outside of Love.

Everything perceived in the world is a projection. This projection is reflected back to us. What we perceive in the mirror reflects what we believe is real. If we see images of differences—different time and space, different bodies—we believe separation is real. These reflections hide the reflection of reality — God’s Love.

We clean the mirror of reflections of separation by forgiving our judgments, our denial of Love. When our forgiveness is complete, we see only the reflection of God’s Love. We have accepted the reality of our true Self and dismissed the ego’s false identity. Now we see the Love of our true Self reflected everywhere. We remember we are Love and nothing else. We know Heaven as our Home, where no reflection is needed.

Letting Love Guide Our Giving

When you have learned to accept what you are, you will make no more gifts to offer to yourself, for you will know you are complete, in need of nothing, and unable to accept anything for yourself. But you will gladly give, having received. The host of God needs not seek to find anything.

If you are wholly willing to leave salvation to the plan of God and unwilling to attempt to grasp for peace yourself, salvation will be given you. Yet think not you can substitute your plan for His. Rather, join with me in His, that we may release all those who would be bound, proclaiming together that the Son of God is host to Him. Thus will we let no one forget what you would remember. And thus will you remember it.

Call forth in everyone only the remembrance of God, and of the Heaven that is in him. For where you would have your brother be, there will you think you are. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.III.10:7-12:2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

The only meaningful gift we can give is Love. We already have all of God’s Love. We know we have It by giving It. Giving is an acknowledgement of what we have.

Love is formless because It is eternal and unlimited. In the world, everything seems to be defined by forms that limit. Forms only have the meaning assigned to them. Giving Love in the world can take myriad forms. The forms themselves have no meaning of their own. To truly give Love, we need to let our true Self direct the giving.

In one case giving Love may simply be letting It flow from our heart to embrace another, with no visible form. In another it may simply be a smile or an act of kindness. In another it may be a physical gift that is truly helpful. Such gifts, directed by Love, are given with no expectations, only the inspiration to bless. This giving returns the blessing back to us for giving and receiving are experienced as the same.

In this season of gift giving, let’s join together by committing to let Love guide our giving. It will be a truly blessed experience, for we will be joining in the oneness of God’s Son.

The Practice That Leads to Love

You look still with the body’s eyes, and they can see but thorns. Yet you have asked for and received another sight. Those who accept the Holy Spirit’s purpose as their own share also His vision. And what enables Him to see His purpose shine forth from every altar now is yours as well as His. He sees no strangers; only dearly loved and loving friends. He sees no thorns but only lilies, gleaming in the gentle glow of peace that shines on everything He looks upon and loves.

You have the vision now to look past all illusions. It has been given you to see no thorns, no strangers and no obstacles to peace. The fear of God is nothing to you now. Who is afraid to look upon illusions, knowing his savior [brother] stands beside him? With him, your vision has become the greatest power for the undoing of illusion that God Himself could give. For what God gave the Holy Spirit, you have received. The Son of God looks unto you for his release. For you have asked for and been given the strength to look upon this final obstacle, and see no thorns nor nails to crucify the Son of God, and crown him king of death.

Your chosen home is on the other side, beyond the veil. It has been carefully prepared for you, and it is ready to receive you now. You will not see it with the body’s eyes. (A Course in Miracles, T-20.II.5;7:1-8:3. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Every brother is our savior when he is seen truly with the Holy Spirit’s vision. His vision sees only the Love that is the true Self in everyone, including ourselves. This Self unites us all in Love’s oneness.

When we believe what the body’s eyes see is our reality, we do not see our brother truly. We see the ego-made barrier which hides the presence of Love. As long as we rely on the body’s limited vision, we are bound to the dream of pain, lack, guilt and fear.

In every instant we can choose the Holy Spirit’s vision. This choice brings Light to our mind, dispelling the barriers to Love’s presence. We open our hearts and minds to this healing Light by frequently asking Love to guide our seeing. The more we practice the more we free ourselves from the dream. It is a journey that takes us Home to the peace, joy and Love of Heaven.

How to Manifest God’s Power in Our Life

Your holiness reverses all the laws of the world. It is beyond every restriction of time, space, distance and limits of any kind. Your holiness is totally unlimited in its power because it estab­lishes you as a Son of God, at one with the Mind of his Creator.

Through your holiness the power of God is made manifest. Through your holiness the power of God is made available. And there is nothing the power of God cannot do. Your holi­ness, then, can remove all pain, can end all sorrow, and can solve all problems. …It is equal in its power to help anyone because it is equal in its power to save anyone.

If you are holy, so is everything God created. You are holy because all things He created are holy.

…search your mind for any sense of loss or unhappiness of any kind as you see it.…

In the situation involving _________ in which I see myself, there is nothing that my holiness cannot do.

Our true Self is holy because It is Love and nothing else. This Self sees only Love everywhere because only Love is real. The world we experience as a body is not real because it lacks the unity of Love. We cannot lose our Identity as Love, but we can hide It behind illusions of time, space and images of separation. The holiness of our true Self sees beyond these limitations.

We have trained our minds to believe separation and appearances of limitation are real. But we can retrain our minds to remember the holiness of our unified, unlimited Love. Our holiness, the Love we are, can heal all our misperceptions. The perception of another as harmed or capable of harming is healed when we let our holiness, the Love of our true Self, take precedence in our mind. Love heals perceptions of separation.

As we apply this thought to whatever seems to be a problem in the world, we bring healing to our mind. As our mind is healed, the world is healed along with it. As our acceptance of our holiness is complete, we recognize nothing outside of our holy Mind is real. We are indeed one in the Mind of God.

Reclaiming the Love We Are

Forgiveness is the only gift I give.

Forgiveness is the only gift I give, because it is the only gift I want. And everything I give I give myself. This is salvation’s simple formula. And I, who would be saved, would make it mine, to be the way I live within a world that needs salvation, and that will be saved as I accept Atonement for myself.

Father, how certain are Your ways; how sure their final outcome, and how faithfully is every step in my salvation set already, and accomplished by Your grace. Thanks be to You for Your eternal gifts, and thanks to You for my Identity. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 297, W-pII.297. See also ACIM Lesson 297 Insights.)

In this world the oneness of Love is denied. If we give something, we believe we no longer have it. This belief makes us reluctant to forgive because we don’t realize that forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves along with the seeming “other” we forgive.

Each time we forgive with the Holy Spirit’s help, a barrier to Love’s presence is released. Thus we receive the gift of Love. It is in our Self interest to forgive because it releases the limitation we have placed on our Self in the dream of separation. Forgiveness is the means to awaken to the eternal fact that we are pure Love, united with All That is in God.

Being Love’s Messenger in the World

My eyes, my tongue, my hands, my feet today Have but one purpose; to be given Christ To use to bless the world with miracles.

Father, I give all that is mine today to Christ, to use in any way that best will serve the purpose that I share with Him. Nothing is mine alone, for He and I have joined in purpose. Thus has learning come almost to its appointed end. A while I work with Him to serve His purpose. Then I lose myself in my Identity, and recognize that Christ is but my Self. This prayer could be called a dedication for a teacher of God. Accepted and applied, this dedication would lead us to extend Love throughout the day through our thoughts, our words and actions. We would be instruments for Christ’s expression in the world.

This world is a dream in which the ego’s denial of Love is played out through seemingly unending conflict. Perceiving itself as alone, the ego is in constant fear of its vulnerability to outside forces that can harm or even kill it. Its greatest fear is that Love be welcomed, for Love would bring the end of separation, the end of the ego.

In this dream world we have a mission—to bring Love to the world. We seem to be here because we have accepted the ego’s version of our identity—a little, separated self, alone, friendless, guilty and afraid. It is not the truth of our Identity. In every moment we can choose to let our true Identity extend Love’s blessing to the world.

As we perceive the world today, we practice asking, “How would Love see this? What would Love have me do and say?” As we accept the guidance of Love, we become teachers of God in a world hungry for Love.
