Truth Is Powerful Healing

What is unalterable cannot change. And what is wholly sinless cannot sin.

Such is the simple truth. It does not make appeal to might nor triumph. It does not command obedience, nor seek to prove how pitiful and futile your attempts to plan defenses that would alter it. Truth merely wants to give you happiness, for such its pur­pose is. …what God wills for you must be received.

It is this fact that demonstrates that time is an illusion. For time lets you think what God has given you is not the truth right now, as it must be. The Thoughts of God are quite apart from time. For time is but another meaningless defense you made against the truth. Yet what He wills is here, and you remain as He created you.

Truth has a power far beyond defense, for no illusions can remain where truth has been allowed to enter. And it comes to any mind that would lay down its arms, and cease to play with folly. It is found at any time; today, if you will choose to practice giv­ing welcome to the truth. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 136, W-pI.136.11:7-14:3. See also ACIM Lesson 136 Insights.)

Love is truth because only Love is real. Nothing but Love exists in truth. This fact is the foundation for our salvation from the ego’s thought system of separation. The passage of time, pain and loss, fear and guilt of the ego’s world could never exist in truth. We experience this world only because we have identified with the ego’s image of a separate self instead of the Self God created one with Him.

We are not the ego. It is time to disown the ego and all its hellish gifts. By choosing Love to guide our thoughts and actions, we choose our true Identity. We choose to accept God’s gifts of happiness and peace. The fear of danger is replaced by the certainty of our safety in changeless Love.

Today we choose the power of truth and release the ego to the nothingness from which it came. We remember we are as God created us.

Walking in Love with Every Brother

This is the way salvation works. As you step back, the light in you steps forward and encompasses the world. It heralds not the end of sin in punishment and death. In lightness and in laughter is sin gone, because its quaint absurdity is seen. It is a foolish thought, a silly dream, not frightening, ridiculous perhaps, but who would waste an instant in approach to God Himself for such a senseless whim?

Yet you have wasted many, many years on just this foolish thought. The past is gone, with all its fantasies. They keep you bound no longer. The approach to God is near.

“Who walks with me?” This question should be asked a thousand times a day, till certainty has ended doubting and estab­lished peace. Today let doubting cease. God speaks for you in answering your question with these words:

I walk with God in perfect holiness. I light the world, I light my mind and all the minds which God created one with me. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 156, W-pI.156.6;7:1-4;8. See also ACIM Lesson 156 Insights.)

We bring Light to the world when we accept our true Self as the Love God created It to be. We accept Love by extending Love. Any thought of judgment stands in the way of Love’s extension.

Love is not extended to what we perceive as outside ourselves because Love sees only Oneness. Love sees no differences. It sees only Itself everywhere, in all things. The Love God is walks with us in every moment, holding us in Love’s sure protection.

Today we remind ourselves often that we walk with every brother in Love’s perfect holiness. We ask the Holy Spirit’s help to see past perceptions of differences, for we would keep no barriers against Love’s Presence. It will be a happy day indeed.

The Journey from Fear to Love

There is nothing outside you. That is what you must ultimately learn, for it is the realization that the Kingdom of Heaven is restored to you. For God created only this, and He did not depart from It nor leave It separate from Himself. The Kingdom of Heaven is the dwelling place of the Son of God, who left not his Father and dwells not apart from Him. Heaven is not a place nor a condition. It is merely an awareness of perfect Oneness, and the knowledge that there is nothing else; nothing outside this Oneness, and nothing else within.”\

The belief that you could give and get something else, something outside yourself, has cost you the awareness of Heaven and of your Identity.

Minds are joined; bodies are not. Only by assigning to the mind the properties of the body does separation seem to be possible. And it is mind that seems to be fragmented and private and alone. Its guilt, which keeps it separate, is projected to the body, which suffers and dies because it is attacked to hold the separation in the mind, and let it not know its Identity.

The mind cannot attack, but it can deceive itself. And this is all it does when it believes it has attacked the body. It can project its guilt, but it will not lose it through projection. And though [the mind] clearly can misperceive the function of the body, it cannot change its function from what the Holy Spirit establishes it to be. The body was not made by Love. Yet Love does not condemn [the body] and can use it lovingly, respecting what the Son of God has made and using [the body] to save him from illusions. As the idea of being separate from God, the ego is a thought in opposition to the Oneness of God’s Love. Believing it is opposing God brings guilt with it because it denies the innocence of Love. This is why the ego has to find a way to hide the guilt. It attempts to do this by projecting guilt outside of itself. Images of separate bodies and forms are the ego’s mechanism for projecting guilt. The problem is that guilt is still retained within the thought of opposing Love.

Only by forgiving the thought of opposition to God can the guilt be released and Love be restored to our awareness. The ego uses the myriad forms of the world to deceive the mind into believing this outer world is the cause of our guilt and fear.

The Holy Spirit’s function is to teach us to forgive these illusionary forms which seem to be the cause of our pain and suffering. No matter the form, our belief in its reality must be let go. The Holy Spirit uses each of these misperceptions as teaching opportunities to help us learn that beyond the form is the eternal presence of Love.

The practice of asking the Holy Spirit to guide all our perceptions and bring us Christ’s vision to see beyond the forms to Love’s innocence is the way to remember our Home in Heaven. it is a journey that leads from fear to Love.

Finding Our Safety in God’s Love

Pain is but witness to the Son’s mistakes in what he thinks he is. It is a dream of fierce retaliation for a crime that could not be committed; for attack on what is wholly unassail­able. [Pain] is a nightmare of abandonment by an Eternal Love, which could not leave the Son whom It created out of love.

It is your thoughts alone that cause you pain. Nothing external to your mind can hurt or injure you in any way. There is no cause beyond yourself that can reach down and bring oppression. No one but yourself affects you. There is nothing in the world that has the power to make you ill or sad, or weak or frail. But it is you who have the power to dominate all things you see by merely recognizing what you are. As you perceive the harm­lessness in [all things], they will accept your holy will as theirs. And what was seen as fearful now becomes a source of innocence and holiness. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 190, W-pI.190.2:3-5;5. See also ACIM Lesson 190 Insights.)

We are not the false identity constructed by the ego as a substitute for the Son God created one with Himself. This identity appears to be weak, vulnerable and capable of dying. Yet it is nothing but an hallucination which has never occurred in truth. Only our acceptance of this substitute identity makes fear, pain and death seem real.

We have taught ourselves to believe we are this substitute identity. It is time to learn the Holy Spirit’s lesson which teaches us to recognize the unreality of the ego and clear away the veil that has hidden the eternal Love we are. In this Love is our perfect safety and perfect happiness.

Today we practice opening our mind to the Holy Spirit’s lessons in Love’s reality.

A Dedication to Awaken to Love

Sit silently and wait upon your Father. He has willed to come to you when you have recognized it is your will He do so.

Father, we give these holy times to You, in gratitude to Him Who taught us how to leave the world of sorrow in exchange for its replacement, given us by You. We look not backward now. We look ahead, and fix our eyes upon the journey’s end. Accept these little gifts of thanks from us, as through Christ’s vision we behold a world beyond the one we made, and take that world to be the full replacement of our own.

And now we wait in silence, unafraid and certain of Your com­ing. We have sought to find our way by following the Guide You sent to us.

…we need only call to God, and all temptations disappear. Instead of words, we need but feel His Love. Instead of prayers, we need but call His Name. This prayer could be called a dedication to awaken to the Life we live in Love. Another lesson tells us we have only one Life, the Life we live in God. The only meaningful purpose for the “life” we experience in the world is to awaken from it to the Love we are. This dedication leads away from pain, suffering, sorrow, loneliness, lack and loss to the completion of our true Self forever one with God. It is the decision to disown the ego and all its judgments, fear and guilt, and take ownership of the Self God created one with Him.

Today we choose the vision of Love that we may see the unity we share with every brother in innocence, peace and happiness. This is how we welcome our Father in gratitude.

Being Attentive to God’s Voice

God’s healing Voice protects all things today.

Let us today attend the Voice for God, which speaks an ancient lesson, no more true today than any other day. Yet has this day been chosen as the time when we will seek and hear and learn and understand. Join me in hearing. For the Voice for God tells us of things we cannot understand alone, nor learn apart. It is in this that all things are protected. And in this the healing of the Voice for God is found.

Your healing Voice protects all things today, and so I leave all things to You. I need be anxious over nothing. For Your Voice will tell me what to do and where to go; to whom to speak and what to say to him, what thoughts to think, what words to give the world. The safety that I bring is given me. Father, Your Voice protects all things through me. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 275, W-pII.275. See also ACIM Lesson 275 Insights.)

We have God’s Voice in our mind. We can “hear” It in many ways. Sometimes It comes as a thought that comforts or inspires us. It may be an inner knowing or a feeling that helps us know what to say or where to go. It may be an inspiration to take an action that is helpful. His Voice may come in a dream or upon waking that brings resolution to a perceived problem. It may come as a loving way of seeing a brother, even one we have perceived as an adversary. Always It comes with an underlying sense of peace.

The key to being attentive to God’s Voice is the practice of stilling our mind in the midst of everyday life. Peace is the condition in which God’s Voice can be accepted. We will practice this today to receive His guidance for what to think, say and do.

Accepting God’s Gift of Limitless Love

By giving you receive. But to receive is to accept, not to get. It is impossible not to have, but it is possible not to know you have. The recognition of having is the willingness for giving, and only by this willingness can you recognize what you have. What you give is therefore the value you put on what you have, being the exact measure of the value you put upon it. And this, in turn, is the measure of how much you want it.

You can ask of the Holy Spirit, then, only by giving to Him, and you can give to Him only where you recognize Him. If you recognize Him in everyone, consider how much you will be asking of Him, and how much you will receive. He will deny you nothing because you have denied Him nothing, and so you can share everything. This is the way, and the only way to have His answer, because His answer is all you can ask for and want. Say, then, to everyone.

Because I will to know myself, I see you as God’s Son and my brother. (T-9.II.11:4-12:6)

All there is to have is Love because only Love is real. Our true Self already has this Love because God gave His Love to His Son in His creation.

The ego is the rejection of Love. It does not want Love because it wants specialness (more than everything.) We have chosen the ego as our identity and accepted its denial of Love. This rejection of Love needs to be forgiven because this rejection makes us unaware of the limitless Love we have and are. The world we perceive is the manifestation of the ego’s rejection of Love.

The Holy Spirit’s mission is to teach us that we are not the ego and that we are God’s Son, one Self united with every brother. As we forgive our beliefs in being a separate self, we make way for the acceptance of the Love of our true Self.

Each time we are able to recognize the Love in our brother, we are seeing the reflection of the Love in us. This is the gift we receive when we are willing to give our beliefs and perceptions to the Holy Spirit to be corrected with His Love. We learn that we have Love, and feel free to give It. As the Love flows through us It brings joy and peace with It. This is why forgiveness is the key to happiness.
