Awakening to Our Resurrection in Love

The resurrection is the complete triumph of Christ over the ego, not by attack but by transcendence. For Christ does rise above the ego and all its works, and ascends to the Father and His Kingdom.

Would you join in the resurrection or the crucifixion? Would you condemn your brothers or free them? Would you transcend your prison and ascend to the Father? These questions are all the same, and are answered together. There has been much confusion about what perception means, because the word is used both for awareness and for the interpretation of awareness. Yet you cannot be aware without interpretation, for what you perceive is your interpretation.

I am leading you to a new kind of experience that you will become less and less willing to deny. Learning of Christ is easy, for to perceive with Him involves no strain at all. His perceptions are your natural awareness, and it is only the distortions you [ego] introduce that tire you. Let the Christ in you interpret for you, and do not try to limit what you see by narrow little beliefs that are unworthy of God’s Son. For until Christ comes into His Own, the Son of God will see himself as Fatherless.

I am your resurrection and your life. You live in me because you live in God. And everyone lives in you, as you live in everyone. Can you, then, perceive unworthiness in a brother and not perceive it in yourself? (A Course in Miracles, T-11.VI.1:6-2:6;3:6-4:4. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

We ascend to the Father by identifying with Christ in us. Christ is the part of our mind that knows its unbreakable unity with our Creator, with Love.

We transcend the world of separation by accepting our oneness in Love. We don’t go anywhere; we only accept the unity of Love, which has always been here and now. Christ in us comes to Its own by recognizing only Love is real. Love is our own. Nothing else exists in truth.

The resurrection represents our awakening to our changeless reality in Love’s oneness. It is the release from our mistaken belief in separation and lack of Love through forgiveness. As we forgive or let go of false beliefs, our innate awareness that we are one in Love returns. We see the Love in our brother and know It in ourselves. When we have let go of all mistaken beliefs and accepted only Love in our minds, we have “ascended to Heaven.” We have returned to our Home in God.

The Holy Path That Leads Us Home

Illusion can but seem to hold in chains the holy Son of God. It is but from illusions he is saved. As [illustions] step back, he finds himself again.

Walk safely now, yet carefully, because this path is new to you. And you may find that you are tempted still to walk ahead of truth, and let illusions be your guide. Your holy brothers have been given you, to follow in your footsteps as you walk with certainty of purpose to the truth. [Truth] goes before you now, that [your brothers] may see something with which they can identify; something they understand to lead the way.

Step back in faith and let truth lead the way. You know not where you go. But One Who knows goes with you. Let Him lead you with the rest.

We walk to God. Pause and reflect on this. Could any way be holier, or more deserving of your effort, of your love and of your full intent? What way could give you more than everything, or offer less and still content the holy Son of God? We walk to God. The truth that walks before us now is one with Him, and leads us to where He has always been. What way but this could be a path that you would choose instead? Each time we step back from our perception of the world and accept the Holy Spirit’s true perception in its place, we lead the way for our brothers on the path to truth. In that moment we serve as a teacher of God by our demonstration of following truth instead of illusions. The practice of stepping back and letting Holy Spirit lead the way is the way we let go of the ego’s chains of limitation and separation.

To free ourselves, we need to be diligent with this practice. The appearances we see with the body’s eyes tempt us to believe that separation is real. This belief blinds us to the truth. The more we step back and let Him lead the way, the more we serve as a Light to others who seek their freedom to be the Love they were created to be, along with us. This is the holy path that leads us to the full remembrance that we are God’s Son, at one with Him eternally, safe in the changelessness of Love.

Seeing with the Eyes of Love

A madman’s dreams are frightening, and sin [separation from Love] appears indeed to terrify. And yet what sin perceives is but a childish game. The Son of God may play he has become a body, prey to evil and to guilt, with but a little life that ends in death. But all the while his Father shines on him, and loves him with an everlasting Love which his pretenses cannot change at all.

How long, O Son of God, will you maintain the game of sin? Shall we not put away these sharp-edged children’s toys? How soon will you be ready to come home? Perhaps today? There is no sin. Creation is unchanged. Would you still hold return to Heaven back? How long, O holy Son of God, how long?

Let me behold the Son of God today, and witness to his glory.

He is Your Son, my Father. And today I would behold his gentleness instead of my illusions. He is what I am, and as I see him so I see myself. No matter where we live in the world, we seem to be subject to threats to our safety or at least our happiness. But these threats only seem real when we believe we are a body. The body was made to make separation from Love seem real. Everything that appears to happen to the body supports the “reality” of separation, a.k.a. sin. These appearances are nothing but illusions. To believe they are real is self deception.

Believing we are a body denies that we are God’s Son. To see truly means we do not see our brother as a body, but as an extension of God’s eternal Love. This is the truth of what everyone is. So today our prayer is to see with the eyes of Love. This vision sees no sin (separation), for it sees only Love’s oneness. Any appearance that seems to contradict this is simply a call for Love.

Celebrating the Time of Christ

Father, I give You all my thoughts today. I would have none of mine. In place of them, give me Your Own. I give You all my acts as well, that I may do Your Will instead of seeking goals which cannot be obtained, and wasting time in vain imaginings. Today I come to You. I will step back and merely follow You. Be You the Guide, and I the follower who questions not the wisdom of the Infinite, nor Love whose tenderness I cannot comprehend, but which is yet Your perfect gift to me.

Today we have one Guide to lead us on. And as we walk together, we will give this day to Him with no reserve at all. This is His day. And so it is a day of countless gifts and mercies unto us. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 233, W-pII.233. See also ACIM Lesson 233 Insights.)

Today is dedicated to remembering God, our Creator. He gave us all of Himself — all His Love, all His joy, all His peace. We have forgotten Him by believing we have separated and made a world without Love. In this world we feel lost, alone and afraid. We yearn for the comfort and safety of His Love.

Today we turn to the Guide within that calls us unceasingly to remember we are loved, we are loving, we are Love. We give our little thoughts of separation to Him, knowing that He will joyfully exchange them with His Thought of Love. He welcomes the gift of our little thoughts, for it opens the door for us to receive His eternal Gift of Love. With this practice we celebrate the time of Christ.

God’s Love Is with Us Eternally

God’s Voice speaks to me all through the day. There is not a moment in which God’s Voice ceases to call on my forgiveness to save me. There is not a moment in which His Voice fails to direct my thoughts, guide my actions and lead my feet. I am walking steadily on toward truth. There is nowhere else I can go, because God’s Voice is the only Voice and the only Guide that has been given to His Son.

I am sustained by the Love of God. As I listen to God’s Voice, I am sustained by His Love. As I open my eyes, His Love lights up the world for me to see. As I forgive, His Love reminds me that His Son is sinless. And as I look upon the world with the vision He has given me, I remember that I am His Son. God’s Voice is our eternal connection with our Creator. It is an open channel through which God communicates His Love for us, His Son. This loving Voice is constantly reminding us of the Love we share with God. It is the means by which we learn to see past the images of the world that pictures separation.

This Voice of Love teaches us that we are Love because only Love is real. We need His help because we have convinced ourselves that the body and the world we perceive with it is real. Our belief in it makes us unaware of Love.

The practice of welcoming the Holy Spirit’s lessons in forgiveness dispels the shadows of separation. It is the means to free ourselves to accept and give the eternal flow of Love from our Creator. We are never alone. God’s Love is with us eternally.

Receiving and Giving the Gift of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is illusion that is answer to the rest.

Forgiveness sweeps all other dreams away, and though it is itself a dream, it breeds no others. All illusions save this one must multiply a thousandfold. But this is where illusions end. Forgiveness is the end of dreams, because it is a dream of waking. It is not itself the truth. Yet does it point to where the truth must be, and gives direction with the certainty of God Himself. [Forgiveness] is a dream in which the Son of God awakens to his Self and to his Father, knowing They are One.

Forgiveness is the only road that leads out of disaster, past all suffering, and finally away from death. How could there be another way, when this one is the plan of God Himself? And why would you oppose it, quarrel with it, seek to find a thousand ways in which it must be wrong; a thousand other possibilities?

Is it not wiser to be glad you hold the answer to your problems in your hand? Is it not more intelligent to thank the One Who gives salvation, and accept His gift with gratitude? And is it not a kindness to yourself to hear His Voice and learn the simple lessons He would teach, instead of trying to dismiss His words, and substitute your own in place of His? Because God (Love) does not condemn, He has no need to forgive. But when we accept the ego thought system of separation, we accept judgment as a means for making separation appear real. It is this practice of condemnation that needs forgiveness to let it go.

As we let the Holy Spirit teach us to recognize that ego perceptions are unreal, we free ourselves from the ego’s limitations. We open our minds to join with the Mind of Love by letting go of judgment. This is the practice that frees us from the dream of fear and guilt.

When forgiveness is complete, we have let go all barriers to Love’s presence. We awaken from the dream to the certainty of our Home in changeless Love. Forgiveness is the greatest gift we can offer to everyone. Forgiveness is the way we celebrate the birth of Christ in everyone.

Our Guiltlessness as God’s Son

The only part of your mind that has reality is the part that links you still with God. Would you have all of it transformed into a radiant message of God’s Love, to share with all the lonely ones who have denied Him? God makes this possible. …Leave the world of death behind, and return quietly to Heaven. There is nothing of value here, and everything of value there. Listen to the Holy Spirit, and to God through Him. He speaks of you to you. There is no guilt in you, for God is blessed in His Son as the Son is blessed in Him.

Everyone has a special part to play in the Atonement, but the message given to each one is always the same; God’s Son is guiltless. Each one teaches the message differently, and learns it differently. Yet until he teaches it and learns it, he will suffer the pain of dim awareness that his true function remains unfulfilled in him. The burden of guilt is heavy, but God would not have you bound by it. His plan for your awaking is as perfect as yours is fallible. You know not what you do, but He Who knows is with you. His gentleness is yours, and all the love you share with God He holds in trust for you. He would teach you nothing except how to be happy. (A Course in Miracles, T-14.V.1:1-3,9-12;2. Through the Holy Spirit, God speaks to the part of the mind that believes it is separate and alone. He speaks to us of the Love we are and our eternal unity with God. He speaks to us of God’s joy and reminds us that we have been given this joy by our Creator.

The ego cannot teach us how to forgive or how to join in Love. It tries to offer substitute plans with the promise that these plans will make us happy. Yet because the ego is the denial of Love, its plans will always exclude Love. But happiness is an attribute of Love so the ego’s plans will always fail to bring us lasting happiness.

God’s plan is guaranteed to bring us happiness because His plan returns us to the awareness of changeless Love. It returns us to the Heaven that is our Home. As we learn true forgiveness which shows us Love’s innocence, we see Love’s innocence everywhere because only Love is real.
