The Bridge from Fear to Love

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all of the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. It is not necessary to seek for what is true, but it is necessary to seek for what is false. Every illusion is one of fear, whatever form it takes. And the attempt to escape from one illusion into another must fail. If you seek love outside yourself you can be certain that you perceive hatred [separation] within, and are afraid of it. Yet peace will never come from the illusion of love, but only from its reality.

Recognize this, for it is true, and truth must be recognized if it is to be distinguished from illusion: The special love relationship is an attempt to bring love into separation. And, as such, it is nothing more than an attempt to bring love into fear [separation], and make it real in fear.

No specialness can offer you what God has given, and what you are joined with Him in giving.

Across the bridge [from separation to oneness] is your completion, for you will be wholly in God, willing for nothing special, but only to be wholly like to Him, completing Him by your completion. Fear not to cross to the abode of peace and perfect holiness. Only there is the completion of God and of His Son established forever. Seek not for [completion] in the bleak world of illusion, where nothing is certain and where everything fails to satisfy. In the Name of God, be wholly willing to abandon all illusions. In any relationship in which you are wholly willing to accept completion, and only this, there is God completed, and His Son with Him. (A Course in Miracles, T-16.IV.6:1-7:2;8:7-9:6. God/Love gave us all of Itself in our creation. The ego is the wish for more than all of God’s Love. It is the wish to be different and special. This could only seem to be accomplished in illusion, since only the oneness of Love is real. Differences and oneness cannot coexist.

We were created one with all of Love, wholly complete. Our sense of incompletion comes with believing that separation is real. This belief leads to searching for completion. Special love is an attempt to find completion, but it never satisfies. Completion cannot be found in the illusion of separation.

We can remember that we are wholly complete only by seeking out all our thoughts and beliefs that make separation seem real. The Holy Spirit in our minds is there to help us recognize our mistaken beliefs in separation and let them go. The practice of bringing all our perceptions to the Holy Spirit for His interpretation will transform the barriers we have made into bridges to remembering we are whole and complete in God’s Love.

Welcoming Christ in Our Mind

Let this day be a day of stillness and of quiet listening. Your Father wills you hear His Word today. He calls to you from deep within your mind where He abides. Hear Him today. No peace is possible until His Word is heard around the world; until your mind, in quiet listening, accepts the message that the world must hear to usher in the quiet time of peace.

This world will change through you. No other means can save it, for God’s plan is simply this: The Son of God is free to save himself, given the Word of God to be his Guide, forever in his mind and at his side to lead him surely to his Father’s house by his own will, forever free as God’s. He is not led by force, but only love. He is not judged, but only sanctified.

Only be quiet. You will need no rule but this, to let your practicing today lift you above the thinking of the world, and free your vision from the body’s eyes. Only be still and listen. You will hear the Word in which the Will of God the Son joins in his Father’s Will, at one with it, with no illusions interposed between the wholly indivisible and true. As every hour passes by today, be still a moment and remind yourself you have a special purpose for this day; in quiet to receive the Word of God. Today is traditionally celebrated as the day of Jesus’ birth. Christianity identifies Jesus as Christ. A Course in Miracles teaches us that he is, indeed, Christ, along with all of us as God’s one Son. Christ is the symbol of our one true Self, the Self that remains united with our Creator, forever Love and forever loving.

Christ is reborn each time we let judgments go and accept our true Self as our identity. Christ represents the part of our mind that knows and sees only innocence.

Let this day and every day be dedicated to honor the Christ in everyone. The vision of Christ does not use the body’s eyes. Rather, the vision of Christ sees through the truth in our minds to recognize Christ’s innocence in everyone, everywhere, without limit. This is how we welcome the birth of Christ in us.

A Commitment To Be Truly Helpful

A therapist does not heal; he lets healing be. He can point to darkness but he cannot bring light of himself, for light is not of him. Yet, being for him, it must also be for his patient. The Holy Spirit is the only Therapist. He makes healing clear in any situation in which He is the Guide. You can only let Him fulfill His function. He needs no help for this. He will tell you exactly what to do to help anyone He sends to you for help, and will speak to him through you if you do not interfere. Remember that you choose the guide for helping, and the wrong choice will not help. But remember also that the right one will. Trust Him, for help is His function, and He is of God. As you awaken other minds to the Holy Spirit through Him, and not yourself, you will understand that you are not obeying the laws of this world. But the laws you are obeying work. “The good is what works” is a sound though insufficient statement. Only the good can work. Nothing else works at all.

This course offers a very direct and a very simple learning situation, and provides the Guide Who tells you what to do. If you do it, you will see that it works. Its results are more convincing than its words. They will convince you that the words are true. By following the right Guide, you will learn the simplest of all lessons

If you are dedicated to being truly helpful and letting Inspiration be your Guide, you become the Holy Spirit’s messenger. As you let inspiration from the peace within guide you, you will offer helpful “therapy” to your brother. Perhaps a smile will bring Light to a mind darkened by sadness. Perhaps a kind gesture will help a mind believing in unworthiness to recognize they do have worth. Or perhaps you may have an opportunity in a more formal setting to help someone connect with the Holy Spirit within and find a clear vision of what is real and what is not.

Let us join today in a shared commitment to be truly helpful with Holy Spirit as our Guide. This is how we will bring healing to the world and receive our own healing. It will be truly a blessed day.

How to Bring Peace to the World

The light of the world brings peace to every mind through my forgiveness. My forgiveness is the means by which the light of the world finds expression through me. My forgiveness is the means by which I become aware of the light of the world in me. My forgiveness is the means by which the world is healed, together with myself. Let me, then, forgive the world, that it may be healed along with me.

Let peace extend from my mind to yours, [name].
I share the light of the world with you, [name].
Through my forgiveness I can see this as it is.

Let me not use this to hide my function from me.
I would use this as an opportunity to fulfill my function.

Whenever anything in the world disturbs our peace, we are believing something really happened to cause a change that we do not want. Yet this is a belief that an illusion can have a real affect. But illusions do nothing. What is unreal cannot affect what is real.

When we let Holy Spirit help us truly forgive, we learn that what we thought happened to disturb our peace did not really occur. Because we now know that nothing has happened to cause a change, we easily overlook the appearance. We let it pass by without causing a ripple on the quiet calm of our true Self. This is true forgiveness. This is how we let the Light that we are shine forth in the world. With our peace undisturbed, we bring peace to the world.

Seeing the Light of Innocence Within

Guilt makes you blind, for while you see one spot of guilt within you, you will not see the light. And by projecting [guilt] the world seems dark, and shrouded in your guilt. You throw a dark veil over it, and cannot see it because you cannot look within. You are afraid of what you would see there, but it is not there. The thing you fear is gone. If you would look within you would see only the Atonement, shining in quiet and in peace upon the altar to your Father.

Do not be afraid to look within. The ego tells you all is black with guilt within you, and bids you not to look. Instead, it bids you look upon your brothers, and see the guilt in them. Yet this you cannot do without remaining blind. For those who see their brothers in the dark, and guilty in the dark in which they shroud them, are too afraid to look upon the light within. Within you is not what you believe is there, and what you put your faith in. Within you is the holy sign of perfect faith your Father has in you. He does not value you as you do. He knows Himself, and knows the truth in you. He knows there is no difference, for He knows not of differences. Can you see guilt where God knows there is perfect innocence? You can deny His knowledge, but you cannot change it. Look, then, upon the light He placed within you, and learn that what you feared was there has been replaced with love. The ego’s defense against guilt is to project it onto others. It does not tell us that seeing guilt in others reinforces our own guilt. We hide from our guilt by making it unconscious and seeing it only in others.

The perception of guilt in a politician, co-worker, friend, family member or anyone, boomerangs back to us, reinforcing our belief in our own guilt. It is the ego’s mechanism for keeping us believing that we deserve pain and punishment, now and forever.

The antidote for this mistaken belief is to let the Holy Spirit help us look within. He will show us the perfect innocence our Father knows is the truth in us. We will be shown that we all remain perfect Love as Love created us, united as His one Son. With the Holy Spirit’s help, the perception of guilt will be transformed into the vision of Love’s innocence.

Our Guide to Forgiveness and Healing

You are the work of God, and His work is wholly lovable and wholly loving. This is how a man must think of himself in his heart, because this is what he is.

The forgiven are the means of the Atonement. Being filled with spirit, they forgive in return. Those who are released must join in releasing their brothers, for this is the plan of the Atonement. Miracles are the way in which minds that serve the Holy Spirit unite with me for the salvation or release of all of God’s creations. (A Course in Miracles, T-1.III.2:3-3:4. Forgiveness clears away denial of Love so we can perceive ourselves and all our brothers as “wholly lovable and wholly loving.” This perception overlooks the world of form to see the formless, eternal Love that we were created to be. Together, we are the Sonship, created by Love as Love.

When forgiveness is complete, all mistaken beliefs in separation from Love have been undone and the Atonement is accomplished. Forgiveness is no longer needed, for there is nothing left to forgive. We have returned to the experience of being Love and extending Love for we know That is what we are. We dwell in perfect peace and joy because these are attributes of Love.

The Holy Spirit is our Guide to forgiveness. As we consistently follow His direction and accept His vision, we release the world from our misperceptions and join with our brothers in the oneness of Love.

Peace Comes with Letting Go of Judgment

Judgment is symbolic because beyond perception there is no judgment. When the Bible says “Judge not that ye be not judged,” it means that if you judge the reality of others you will be unable to avoid judging your own.

You have no idea of the tremendous release and deep peace that comes from meeting yourself and your brothers totally without judgment. When you recognize what you are and what your brothers are, you will realize that judging them in any way is without meaning. In fact, their meaning is lost to you precisely because you are judging them. All uncertainty comes from the belief that you are under the coercion of judgment. You do not need judgment to organize your life, and you certainly do not need it to organize yourself. In the presence of knowledge [of oneness] all judgment is automatically suspended, and this is the process that enables recognition [of oneness] to replace perception [of differences]. In the world it seems that judgment is necessary to survive. But what is it that needs to survive? What we protect with judgment is a false image of a separate self, which makes us unaware of our oneness with God and all that is Real. The practice of judgment is a defense against God, making our oneness with Him unknown to us.

True forgiveness is the end of judgment. True forgiveness accepts the Self that God created one with Him. True forgiveness sees every brother as equally one with our Creator. The ego is incapable of true forgiveness because it is the belief in being separate. It cannot conceive of oneness. In fact, it sees the idea of oneness as a threat to its existence, which is true. When we accept, without reservation, our oneness with our Source, the ego will no longer seem to exist.

God has given us His Teacher of true judgment to guide us out of the ego’s judgment to the one judgment that ends all judgment. The Holy Spirit will teach us what is real and what is unreal. When we know Reality by our complete acceptance of oneness, there is nothing left to judge. We know all our meaning lies in our unity with Love.
