How to Have a Loving Day

Christ’s is the vision I will use today.

Each day, each hour, every instant, I am choosing what I want to look upon, the sounds I want to hear, the witnesses to what I want to be the truth for me. ²Today I choose to look upon what Christ would have me see, to listen to God’s Voice, and seek the witnesses to what is true in God’s creation. ³In Christ’s sight, the world and God’s creation meet, and as they come together all perception disappears. ⁴His kindly sight redeems the world from death, for nothing that He looks on but must live, remembering the Father and the Son; Creator and creation unified.

Father, Christ’s vision is the way to You. ²What He beholds invites Your memory to be restored to me. ³And this I choose, to be what I would look upon today. (A Course in Miracles, W-271. See also ACIM Lesson 271 Insights.)

Every moment that we choose to accept Christ’s vision in place of the ego’s seeing through the body’s eyes, we welcome God’s peace and joy. Christ’s vision is always available in our mind. It recognizes the Love that keeps us united with our Father and every brother. It sees past all the images of the world, knowing they are meaningless.

Today we practice stepping back from our experience of the world to let Christ’s vision have our full attention. It will lead us to experience a day filled with love, peace and happiness.

Fulfilling Our Only Purpose in This World

Father, Christ’s vision is Your gift to me, and it has power to translate all that the body’s eyes behold into the sight of a forgiven world. ²How glorious and gracious is this world! ³Yet how much more will I perceive in it than sight can give. ⁴The world forgiven signifies Your Son acknowledges his Father, lets his dreams be brought to truth, and waits expectantly the one remaining instant more of time which ends forever, as Your memory returns to him. ⁵And now his will is one with Yours. ⁶[Your Son’s] function now is but Your Own, and every thought except Your Own is gone.

The quiet of today will bless our hearts, and through them peace will come to everyone. ²Christ is our eyes today. ³And through His sight we offer healing to the world through Him, the holy Son whom God created whole; the holy Son whom God created one. Everyone sees what they want to see. What we do not want to see does not exist in our experience. But this denial does not change Reality. It only makes us unaware of It. Yet we have the power to change what we want to see.

This vision shows us the real world where only the oneness of Love is seen. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can shift our attention beyond what the body’s eyes see to the love we share with everyone, along with our Creator. We will remember we are God’s Son, complete and whole, with no need but to extend the Love we know we are. This is our only purpose in this world.

The Power of Our Identity in Love

Today we will again give thanks for our Identity in God. ²Our home is safe, protection guaranteed in all we do, power and strength available to us in all our undertakings. ³We can fail in nothing. ⁴Everything we touch takes on a shining light that blesses and that heals. ⁵At one with God and with the universe we go our way rejoicing, with the thought that God Himself goes everywhere with us.

…God is our Companion as we walk the world a little while. ⁵And those who come to follow us will recognize the way because the light we carry stays behind, yet still remains with us as we walk on.

²And God, Who loves us with the equal love in which we were created, smiles on us and offers us the happiness we gave.

Today we will not doubt His Love for us, nor question His protection and His care. ²No meaningless anxieties can come between our faith and our awareness of His Presence. ³We are one with Him today in recognition and rememberance. ⁴We feel Him in our hearts. ⁵Our minds contain His Thoughts; our eyes behold His loveliness in all we look upon. ⁶Today we see only the loving and the lovable. We never walk alone. God goes with us wherever go and in whatever we do. Even if we deny His Presence, He remains with because our true Identity is in Him. He offers us all of His Love without limit, keeping us safe and giving us His strength to do what we are called to do.

As we accept our Identity as Love, we see that Love reflected back to us from everyone we meet or think of. We see everyone as deserving of Love, for we know they all are united with us in the Love of God. And we give thanks.

Learning to See with Loving Eyes

⁵The body is itself a sacrifice; a giving up of power in the name of saving just a little for yourself. ⁶To see a brother in another body, separate from yours, is the expression of a wish to see a little part of him and sacrifice the rest.

The world you see is based on “sacrifice” of oneness. ²It is a picture of complete disunity and total lack of joining.

The body is a loss, and can be made to sacrifice. ²And while you see your brother as a body, apart from you and separate in his cell, you are demanding sacrifice of him and you. ³What greater sacrifice could be demanded than that God’s Son perceive himself without his Father? ⁴And his Father be without His Son? ⁵Yet every sacrifice demands that They be separate and without the Other. ⁶The memory of God must be denied if any sacrifice is asked of anyone.

Those who would see the witnesses to truth instead of to illusion merely ask that they might see a purpose in the world that gives it sense and makes it meaningful. ²Without your special function has this world no meaning for you. ³Yet it can become a treasure house as rich and limitless as Heaven itself. ⁴No instant passes here in which your brother’s holiness cannot be seen, to add a limitless supply to every meager scrap and tiny crumb of happiness that you allot yourself.

You can lose sight of oneness, but can not make sacrifice of its reality. ²Nor can you lose what you would sacrifice, nor keep the Holy Spirit from His task of showing you that it has not been lost. (A Course in Miracles, T-26.I.1:5-6;2:1-2;4:1-6;5:1–6:2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

We need to learn to see the world through the eyes of Love. Love is one. Love sees only Itself extending eternally to all. This is our innate vision, given us in our creation as God’s Son as an extension of Himself.

If we believe what we see through the body’s eyes is real, we are believing we are a false identity as a body. The body is the ego’s image that denies the oneness of Love.

With the Holy Spirit’s help we can learn to rely on His vision in our mind, instead of what the body shows us. This inner vision shows us the rich and limitless Love in which we live. It shows us a world of peace where we dwell in the holiness of our Creator with all our brothers.

Willingness to Accept the Gift of Peace

⁸If you will accept the fact that I am with you, you are denying the world and accepting God. ⁹My will is His, and your decision to hear me is the decision to hear His Voice and abide in His Will. ¹⁰As God sent me to you so will I send you to others. ¹¹And I will go to them with you, so we can teach them peace and union.

⁴If you want to have [peace] of me, you must give it. ⁵Healing does not come from anyone else. ⁶You must accept guidance from within. ⁷The guidance must be what you want, or it will be meaningless to you. ⁸That is why healing is a collaborative venture. ⁹I can tell you what to do, but you must collaborate by believing that I know what you should do. ¹⁰Only then will your mind choose to follow me.

⁶The decision to unite must be unequivocal, or the mind itself is divided and not whole. ⁷Your mind is the means by which you determine your own condition, because mind is the mechanism of decision. …¹¹All things are possible through our joint decision… (A Course in Miracles, T-8.IV.3:8-11;4:4-10;5:6-7,11. The world we see is the effect of our decision. We see a world of conflict, which results in guilt and fear, because we want specialness. Specialness depends on perception of differences and the need to judge what is “right” or “wrong”.

To have peace, we must be willing to accept our unity in God’s Love. His Voice is given us to help us learn to recognize that specialness is not in our best interest. Our judgments deny the reality of Love. Today we focus on willingness to listen to the guidance of His Voice because we want His gift of peace.

Complete Forgiveness Reveals the Real World

The real world holds a counterpart for each unhappy thought reflected in your world; a sure correction for the sights of fear and sounds of battle which your world contains. ²The real world shows a world seen differently, through quiet eyes and with a mind at peace. ³Nothing but rest is there. ⁴There are no cries of pain and sorrow heard, for nothing there remains outside forgiveness. ⁵And the sights are gentle. ⁶Only happy sights and sounds can reach the mind that has forgiven itself.

The real world is the symbol that the dream of sin and guilt is over, and God’s Son no longer sleeps. ²His waking eyes perceive the sure reflection of his Father’s Love; the certain promise that he is redeemed. ³The real world signifies the end of time, for its perception makes time purposeless.

…as we look upon a world forgiven, it is [God] Who calls to us and comes to take us home, reminding us of our Identity which our forgiveness has restored to us. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.8.2;4;5:4)

The world we experience reflects what we believe we are. If we are not happy and at peace, there is some belief we are holding that needs to be forgiven. At any time that we are not at peace, we need to ask, “What is this for?”

The ego answers with justification for why we should be disturbed. If we ask for the Holy Spirit’s answer, He will help us give it a new purpose that leads to forgiveness of our mistaken belief. As we accept the Holy Spirit’s purpose, we let Love’s Light into our mind. We move a step closer to the complete forgiveness that shows us the real world.

Resting in the Peaceful Present

The miracle enables you to see your brother without his past, and so perceive him as born again. ²His errors are all past, and by perceiving him without them you are releasing him. ³And since his past is yours, you share in this release. ⁴Let no dark cloud out of your past obscure him from you, for truth lies only in the present, and you will find it if you seek it there.

Judgment and condemnation are behind you, and unless you bring them with you, you will see that you are free of them. ²Look lovingly upon the present, for it holds the only things that are forever true. …⁵The present is before time was, and will be when time is no more. ⁶In it are all things that are eternal, and they are one.

Now is the time of salvation, for now is the release from time. ²Reach out to all your brothers, and touch them with the touch of Christ. ³In timeless union with them is your continuity, unbroken because it is wholly shared. ⁴God’s guiltless Son is only light. ⁵There is no darkness in him anywhere, for he is whole. ⁶Call all your brothers to witness to his wholeness, as I am calling you to join with me. ⁷Each voice has a part in the song of redemption, the hymn of gladness and thanksgiving for the light to the Creator of light. ⁸The holy light that shines forth from God’s Son is the witness that his light is of his Father. The Christ in us is God’s one Son. It is our Self, wholly loving and complete in Love’s oneness. To touch our brother with the touch of Christ is to recognize our unity with him in the Love that unites us with our Creator. This unity is eternal, now and forever.

Now is the time to release the past. As we forgive, we release the burden of carrying beliefs in the past which have no reality. As we let go of false beliefs, our minds are cleared of thoughts that blind us to the truth that is everywhere to be seen now.

We can relax in the now moment. Free of the past, we have no fear and no guilt. We rest in the real world of Love. All judgment is dismissed and we rest in the peace and joy of Heaven.
