Welcoming the Joy of God

O my child, if you knew what God wills for you, your joy would be complete! And what He wills has happened, for it was always true. When the light comes, and you have said, “God’s Will is mine,” you will see such beauty that you will know it is not of you. Out of your joy you will create beauty in His Name, for your joy could no more be contained than His. The bleak little world will vanish into nothingness, and your heart will be so filled with joy that it will leap into Heaven, and into the Presence of God. I cannot tell you what this will be like, for your heart is not ready. Yet I can tell you, and remind you often, that what God wills for Himself He wills for you, and what He wills for you is yours. God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. If we are not experiencing God’s joy wholly, then we are denying His Will for us. We are choosing to be separate from our Creator.

The good news is that we can choose again. We have been given a Guide to show us what we really want and help us decide against the false ideas that have limited our joy and darkened our minds. As we are willing to follow our Inner Guide, we will learn to see the magnificent Love that is the truth in our brothers and our self. Our Guide waits patiently for our willingness to follow His lead. He cannot leave us because He is one with us and our Creator.

Today we would follow and make no decisions on our own that our joy may be complete.

Remembering the Peace of God Is in Me

Your peace is with me, Father.  I am safe.

Your peace surrounds me, Father. Where I go, Your peace goes there with me. It sheds its light on everyone I meet. I bring it to the desolate and lonely and afraid. I give Your peace to those who suffer pain, or grieve for loss, or think they are bereft of hope and happiness. Send them to me, my Father. Let me bring Your peace with me. For I would save Your Son, as is Your Will, that I may come to recognize my Self.

And so we go in peace. To all the world we give the message that we have received. And thus we come to hear the Voice for God, Who speaks to us as we relate His Word; Whose Love we recognize because we share the Word that He has given unto us. A sense of vulnerability and the need to protect ourselves comes from the belief that we are separate from our Creator. It is inevitable that we would feel weak if we believe we are separate from the only Source of strength. Fortunately, belief has no effect on Truth, which must be changeless. The Truth of our Creation remains in us. That Truth holds the peace of God and all His Love.

The Holy Spirit remains in our mind to remind us of the Truth of What we are. We have taught ourselves to believe in a world that denies our Self. But the Holy Spirit is ever present to show us the Truth beyond the mistaken beliefs.

Holy Spirit, help me with Your vision to see past the images of this world to the peace that is ever present. Teach me to recognize God’s Love beyond the form the body’s eyes see. Help me recognize calls for Love from others and myself and answer with Love. For I would remember God, my Father. Herein I find peace.

Learning to Accept God’s Love

Grace is acceptance of the Love of God within a world of seeming hate and fear. By grace alone the hate and fear are gone, for grace presents a state so opposite to everything the world contains, that those whose minds are lighted by the gift of grace can not believe the world of fear is real.

Grace is not learned. The final step must go beyond all learning. Grace is not the goal this course aspires to attain. Yet we prepare for grace in that an open mind can hear the Call to waken. It is not shut tight against God’s Voice. It has become aware that there are things it does not know, and thus is ready to accept a state completely different from experience with which it is familiarly at home. This world was made as a place where God could not enter. It makes sense then that the way out of the world of hate and fear is to accept God, to accept Love.

Judgment denies God, for it is founded on the belief in separation, which denies the oneness of God. To accept God’s Love, we must let go of judgment; we must forgive. We have been given a Teacher Whose only function is to show us that only Love is real.

As we practice bringing all of our unloving, fearful and guilty thoughts to the Holy Spirit, our judgments are undone. We are shown that what we thought was cause for fear and guilt was only a harmless false image. What is not real can have no effect in reality. As we continue the practice, the appearances of the world has less affect on us, for we see past them to the truth that nothing is really happening.

We may still have beliefs we are protecting from the Holy Spirit’s Light. We think these beliefs are sacred and protect us from loss. But as we continue the practice of forgiving with the Holy Spirit’s help, we learn that these cherished beliefs do not serve us. We become willing to let them go. This is how we prepare to receive the grace of God, to accept God’s Love.

We All Have a Role to Play

I follow in the way appointed me. I have a special place to fill; a role for me alone. Salvation waits until I take this part as what I choose to do. Until I make this choice, I am the slave of time and human destiny. But when I willingly and gladly go the way my Father’s plan appointed me to go, then will I recognize salvation is already here, already given all my brothers and already mine as well.

Father, Your way is what I choose today. Where it would lead me do I choose to go; what it would have me do I choose to do. Your way is certain, and the end secure. The memory of You awaits me there. And all my sorrows end in Your embrace, which You have promised to Your Son, who thought mistakenly that he had wandered from the sure protection of Your loving Arms. We have a purpose here. We are to follow and not lead. As we are ready and open to follow Holy Spirit’s plan for us, we will be carried… We will be shown, minute by minute, what our role is in the awakening of the Sonship to our one Self… As each of us awakens, we help the awakening of the whole.

As we let ourselves be led, Holy Spirit lights our way… As Holy Spirit lights our path, many are helped along with us… It is not our job to know how this is done. It simply is our job to listen and follow Holy Spirit’s lead. Holy Spirit will always lead us to rise above and see the Love behind the dream of separation… The Holy Spirit will show us our connectedness…

As we let Holy Spirit’s Love and light fill our mind, we are filled with a sense of peace and safety… As we extend the peace we receive, peace is strengthened in others and ourselves… A pervading sense of tranquility and deep sense of purpose fills the air… As we give our minds over to the Holy Spirit, we are given all that we need to fulfill our role…

All doubt and sense of loss and vulnerability fade away as we continue on the way appointed us… A sense of strength and certainty fills our being as we continue to let Holy Spirit carry us Home, along with all our brothers… We are filled with gratitude that we have a part to play and receive the means for it to be accomplished.

Accepting Christ’s Vision

Christ’s vision has one law. It does not look upon a body, and mistake it for the Son whom God created. It beholds a light beyond the body; an idea beyond what can be touched, a purity undimmed by errors, pitiful mistakes, and fearful thoughts of guilt from dreams of sin. It sees no separation. And it looks on everyone, on every circumstance, all happenings and all events, without the slightest fading of the light it sees.

This can be taught; and must be taught by all who would achieve it. It requires but the recognition that the world can not give anything that faintly can compare with this in value; nor set up a goal that does not merely disappear when this has been perceived. And this you give today: See no one as a body. Greet him as the Son of God he is, acknowledging that he is one with you in holiness. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 158, W-pI.158.7-8. Our only function is to see with Christ’s Vision. Christ’s vision sees only innocence. Christ’s vision sees nothing that needs forgiveness, for It sees only the Reality of Love.

Whenever our peace is disturbed in any way, it is a sign that we have turned our back on Christ’s vision and chosen to believe in the images of the ego. We need to use this sign as a reminder to turn back to Christ’s vision in our minds. That is the only meaningful use of time in this world. Each time we accept Christ’s vision in place of the images of the ego, we take a step closer to freedom from the limitation of the ego thought system. We move toward remembering that we remain in Heaven where God created us to be.

Today we dedicate to accepting Christ’s vision.

Is This Thought of God or the Ego?

[Be vigilant only for God and His Kingdom] is a statement of what you want to believe, and entails a willingness to relinquish everything else. The Holy Spirit will enable you to take this step, if you follow Him. Your vigilance is the sign that you want Him to guide you. Vigilance does require effort, but only until you learn that effort itself is unnecessary. You have exerted great effort to preserve what you have made because it was not true. Therefore, you must now turn your effort against it. Only this can cancel out the need for effort, and call upon the being which you both have and are. This recognition is wholly without effort because it is already true and needs no protection. It is in the perfect safety of God. Therefore, inclusion is total and creation is without limit.” (T-6.V.C.10)

To be vigilant only for God and His Kingdom means that we must make only one judgment. We must evaluate whether each thought is of God or the ego. Because we believe in the ego as our identity, we need help with this judgment. Our willingness to question the source of our thoughts means that we are willing to relinquish our old way of thinking with the ego. The Holy Spirit will help us here. It is His job to guide us and teach us to recognize what is of the ego and what is of God.

It is our willingness to question our habitual thinking that opens our mind to be taught what is true and what is false. As we are willing to let the Holy Spirit decide on our behalf, our allegiance to the ego fades. More and more we identify with the joyous unity of the Kingdom. More and more we recognize calls for Love and answer with Love. Our certainty of our safety in God grows stronger. It is a journey that leads us to remember and experience that only Love is real.

Returning to Reality

Forgiveness recognizes what you thought your brother did to you has not occurred. It does not pardon sins and make them real. It sees there was no sin. And in that view are all your sins forgiven. What is sin, except a false idea about God’s Son? Forgiveness merely sees its falsity, and therefore lets it go. What then is free to take its place is now the Will of God.

An unforgiving thought is one which makes a judgment that it will not raise to doubt, although it is not true.”

Forgiveness, on the other hand, is still, and quietly does nothing. …It merely looks, and waits, and judges not. He who would not forgive must judge, for he must justify his failure to forgive. But he who would forgive himself must learn to welcome truth exactly as it is.

Today we ask for the truth… Today we open to the awareness of Love’s presence… We open to the awareness that nothing could every really happen to change God’s one Son…

We open to the awareness that only Love is real… We open to our Creator’s gentleness, kindness and everlasting peace… We open to the awareness that God, Which is pure Love, is changeless and eternal…

We are filled with gratitude that we are safe forever in the loving Mind of God… And we give thanks that this and only this is Reality.
