It Is Worth the Practice

You will believe that you are part of where you think you are. That is because you surround yourself with the environment you want. And you want it to protect the image of yourself that you have made. The image is part of this environment. What you see while you believe you are in it is seen through the eyes of the image. This is not vision. Images cannot see.

All of [the attributes you ascribe to yourself] are equally unreal, because you do not look upon yourself through the eyes of holiness.

Try to recognize that the direction of your fantasies about yourself does not matter. Illusions have no direction in reality. They are merely not true.

As often as possible during the day, pick up a specific attribute or attributes you are ascribing to yourself at the time and apply the idea for today to them, adding:

But my mind is part of God’s. I am very holy.

With this practice we are learning to let go of the false mind we have been thinking is our mind. With Holy Spirit’s help, we are brought to the awareness of our real Mind — the Mind that is filled with peace, love and eternal happiness… This is worth the practice. We want to be happy. We are tired of the yo-yo ego mind which is full of efforting and pain.

With Holy Spirit leading the way, our idea about what we are in truth is being transformed… We identify with the Love in others as we see that we are one with the Mind of pure Love… Fear dissolves and we see Love everywhere… We see kindness, generosity and peace everywhere…

We feel relaxed and safe as we follow Holy Spirit’s lead to recognizing our real Self and the real Self in everyone… We are so grateful to return to the truth and forgive, or let go of, all the heavy burdensome ideas of being separate from our Source. It is worth the practice.

The Strength and Love of God Are Our Own

Unless I look upon what is not there, my present happiness is all I see. Eyes that begin to open see at last. And I would have Christ’s vision come to me this very day. What I perceive without God’s Own Correction for the sight I made is frightening and painful to behold. Yet I would not allow my mind to be deceived by the belief the dream I made is real an instant longer. This the day I seek my present happiness, and look on nothing else except the thing I seek.

With this resolve I come to You, and ask Your strength to hold me up today, while I but seek to do Your Will. You cannot fail to hear me, Father. What I ask have You already given me. Sometimes it can seem that events in the world press upon us from many directions, making us feel powerless to deal with them. The Course is reminding us that God has given us all of His strength, which far exceeds the seeming power of circumstances in the world we perceive.

God’s strength is ours. We need to remind ourselves of this many times through every day. We need to accept God’s strength as our own. The strength of God in us brings us the clear vision of Christ that shows us only Love is real.

With Christ’s vision, we see our Self in everyone. We know that harm is impossible. The Love of God is still ours, given us without reservation nor limit. We can relax and rest in the certainty that we are held safely in the Love of God. Today we remind ourselves often that the strength and Love of God are our own.

Walking the Path of Light

…this course was sent to open up the path of light to us, and teach us, step by step, how to return to the eternal Self we thought we lost.

I take the journey with you. For I share your doubts and fears a little while, that you may come to me who recognize the road by which all fears and doubts are overcome. We walk together. I must understand uncertainty and pain, although I know they have no meaning. Yet a savior must remain with those he teaches, seeing what they see, but still retaining in his mind the way that led him out, and now will lead you out with him. It seems that we are on our own, struggling to function in a world of guilt and fear. But we have a mighty Companion Who is always with us. He understands what we experience but doesn’t believe in its seeming reality. He remembers for us that only Love is real. He is there to guide us along the path out of the chaos of the dream of separation into the quiet garden of peace, where we can rest in the certainty of the Love that created us, supports us and flows through us without limit.

Our mighty Companion is dedicated to guiding us to awaken to our one Self, united with all Love. Let us take the hand of our Companion and join with all our brothers as we walk the path of Light that leads us Home.

Accepting True Vision

Whatever your appointed role may be, it was selected by the Voice for God, Whose function is to speak for you as well. …He is not deceived in what you are, and listens only to His Voice in you.

It is through [the Holy Spirit’s] ability to hear one Voice which is His Own that you become aware at last there is one Voice in you. And that one Voice appoints your function, and relays it to you, giving you the strength to understand it, do what it entails, and to succeed in everything you do that is related to it. God has joined His Son in this, and thus His Son becomes His messenger of unity with Him.

We practice giving Him what He would have, that we may recognize His gifts to us. He needs our voice that He may speak through us. He needs our hands to hold His messages, and carry them to those whom He appoints. He needs our feet to bring us where He wills, that those who wait in misery may be at last delivered. And He needs our will united with His Own, that we may be the true receivers of the gifts He gives. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 154, W-pI.154.2:1,4;3;11. When we believe in the ego thought system of separation, we are deceiving ourselves about what we are. We believe we are a body, on our own and alone. But we are not eternally lost in this wilderness because the Holy Spirit remains in our mind to bring us the message that we remain one with Love as Love created us.

To know our oneness with our Source, we must recognize our oneness with all our brothers. That is the message the Holy Spirit offers in every moment. As we let go of the false self-image and see our brothers truly, we experience our oneness with our Source more and more. As we practice accepting the Holy Spirit’s vision to see as He sees, we accept His gift of freedom to be Love and nothing else. Today we practice accepting Holy Spirit’s gift of true vision.

Accepting Freedom to Be Love

Behind the search for every idol lies the yearning for completion. Wholeness has no form because it is unlimited. To seek a special person or a thing to add to you to make yourself complete, can only mean that you believe some form is missing. And by finding this, you will achieve completion in a form you like. This is the purpose of an idol; that you will not look beyond it, to the source of the belief that you are incomplete. Only if you had sinned could this be so. For sin is the idea you are alone, and separated off from what is whole. And thus it would be necessary for the search for wholeness to be made beyond the boundaries of limits on yourself.

Completion is the function of God’s Son. He has no need to seek for it at all. Beyond all idols stands his holy will to be but what he is. For more than whole is meaningless.… What is not whole cannot make whole. But what is really asked for cannot be denied. Your will is granted. Not in any form that would content you not, but in the whole completely lovely Thought God holds of you. (A Course in Miracles, T-30.III.3;5:1-4,8-11. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Everyone in the world feels a sense of being incomplete. All the conflict in the world comes from attempts to get what we believe would resolve our sense of incompletion.

Think of what the world would be like if everyone knew that they were whole and complete; they need nothing. There would be no conflict, no attempts to take from another. There would be only a quiet peace and extension of Love. There would be joyous celebration of the limitless flow of Love.

This is our natural state. We need only accept it by letting go of the false beliefs that tell us we are alone and incomplete. We have an inner Teacher Whose purpose it is to guide us to discern what is false and help us let it go. As we accept this Help, we free ourselves from the mistaken belief in limitation and move closer to the full acceptance that we share the unlimited Will of our Creator. It is inevitable that we will remember our freedom to be Love and extend Love without limit. We need only accept the Help already given us.

All of God’s Strength Is In Us Now

I live in God. In Him I find my refuge and my strength. In Him is my Identity. In Him is everlasting peace. And only there will I remember Who I really am.

Let me not seek for idols. I would come, my Father, home to You today. I choose to be as You created me, and find the Son whom You created as my Self. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 261, W-pII.261.1:4-2:3. See also ACIM Lesson 261 Insights.)

Superman and other super heroes are symbols of the strength we think we lack because we believe we have separated from God, the Source of all our strength. Believing we are now weak, we look to external heroes to protect us and save us from the perceived evil and danger in the world. Neither the external saviors nor the perceived danger are real.

God is our strength. In truth, we live in the strength of God. We live within the Source of all power so that in truth, we remain the same changeless Love as Love created us. When we see images of harm and loss, it can be helpful to remember that we are seeing a false perception. God is our strength and our Reality. Harm and loss are impossible. As we call upon God’s strength in us and welcome it, we open our minds to seeing with the vision of Christ.

Today we will remind ourselves often that all of God’s strength is in us now.

Increasing Our Willingness to Be Free

Think, then, how great your own release will be when you are willing to receive correction for all your problems. You will not keep one, for pain in any form you will not want. And you will see each little hurt resolved before the Holy Spirit’s gentle sight. For all of them are little in His sight and worth no more than just a tiny sigh before they disappear, to be forever undone and unremembered. What seemed once to be a special problem, a mistake without a remedy, or an affliction without a cure, has been transformed into a universal blessing. Sacrifice is gone. And in its place the Love of God can be remembered, and will shine away all memory of sacrifice and loss. (A Course in Miracles, T-26.II.7. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

We were created by Limitlessness as limitless as Itself. When we perceive a problem in the world, it is reflecting back to us our belief in limitation, which comes with belief in separation. It is impossible for what is limitless to have a problem.

So each appearance of a problem in the world is an opportunity for us to let Holy Spirit show us its lack of substance. What is not true is by definition nothing. When we perceive a problem, we are believing that nothing is something, making it real in our belief. It is this mistaken belief that the Holy Spirit is ready, willing and dedicated to help us release.

We can be free of problems to the degree that we are willing to let the Holy Spirit solve all our problems for us. Any problem that we reserve to solve on our own simply represents an unwillingness to the healed, an unwillingness to be free of limitation.

Every day is an opportunity to increase our willingness to be free. It is our choice.
