Letting Love Direct Our Seeing

Christ’s vision is a miracle. It comes from far beyond itself, for it reflects eternal love and the rebirth of love which never dies, but has been kept obscure. Christ’s vision pictures Heaven, for it sees a world so like to Heaven that what God created perfect can be mirrored there. The darkened glass the world presents can show but twisted images in broken parts. The real world pictures Heaven’s innocence.

Christ’s vision is the bridge between the worlds. And in its power can you safely trust to carry you from this world into one made holy by forgiveness. Things which seem quite solid here are merely shadows there; transparent, faintly seen, at times forgot, and never able to obscure the light that shines beyond them. Holiness has been restored to vision, and the blind can see.

Christ has dreamed the dream of a forgiven world. It is His gift, whereby a sweet transition can be made from death to life; from hopelessness to hope. Let us an instant dream with Him. His dream awakens us to truth. His vision gives the means for a return to our unlost and everlasting sanctity in God. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 159, W-pI.159.3;5;10:4-8. Christ’s vision does not use the body’s eyes. This vision comes from the part of our mind that remembers its unity with Love. It sees all things from Love’s perspective. Being the denial of Love, the ego cannot see from Love’s perspective. All that the ego sees is made up images that attempt to give reality to illusions. The means to see our way out of the ego’s darkness is Christ’s vision. It is through Christ’s vision that we forgive.

To open our minds to Christ’s vision today, we will ask ourselves frequently, “Is Love directing my seeing?” If the answer is no, we will ask for help to see through the forgiving eyes of Christ, for we desire to join with Christ’s dream of the forgiven world.

From Insanity to Love’s Sanity

Since the thoughts of which I am aware do not mean anything, the world that pictures them can have no meaning. What is producing this world is insane, and so is what it produces. Reality is not insane, and I have real thoughts as well as insane ones. I can therefore see a real world, if I look to my real thoughts as my guide for seeing.

My thoughts are images that I have made. Whatever I see reflects my thoughts. It is my thoughts that tell me where I am and what I am. The fact that I see a world in which there is suffering and loss and death shows me that I am seeing only the representation of my insane thoughts, and am not allowing my real thoughts to cast their beneficent light on what I see. Yet God’s way is sure. The images I have made cannot prevail against Him because it is not my will that they do so. My will is His, and I will place no other gods before Him. Insane thoughts come from belief in illusions. Belief makes illusion seem real. Reacting to illusions as if they were real is the definition of insanity. When we believe that what our body perceives is real, we react insanely. Fear, guilt, loneliness, sadness, a sense of not being loved are reactions to illusions.

All this passes away as we learn to recognize illusions for what they are and turn instead to the real thoughts we share with God. God is Love and His Thoughts are extensions of Love. To share His Thoughts is to join with Thoughts of Love to the exclusion of all else, for there is nothing else.

Forgiveness reveals the real world to us for it lifts the veil that hides our real Thoughts of Love. Today we would turn to the Thoughts of Love in our mind that we may see the real world.

Only Be Still

There is peace within you to be called upon today, to help make ready your most holy mind to hear the Voice for its Creator speak.

He speaks from nearer than your heart to you. His Voice is closer than your hand. His Love is everything you are and that He is; the same as you, and you the same as He.

It is your [True] voice to which you listen as He speaks to you. It is your word He speaks. It is the Word of freedom and of peace, of unity of will and purpose, with no separation nor division in the single Mind of Father and of Son. In quiet listen to your Self today, and let Him tell you God has never left His Son, and you have never left your Self. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 125, W-pI.125.6:4;7:2-8:. The peace everyone seeks in this world is ever-present within. Though a quiet environment can help minimize distraction, the Source of peace is within our minds. It is the part that remembers its unity with Love. Here is where we find solace to comfort us in a chaotic world. Here is where the quiet stillness of changeless Love can be received and inspire us in the way to walk lovingly in the world.

Let us today take time to be still, quiet our minds and remember the peace of God within. Let us take this peace with us into the world and extend it to our brothers. Peace belongs to all without exception. As we offer it we bless our brothers and experience that same blessing for ourselves. We need only to be still.

Joining Christ in Peace

The Christ in you is very still. He looks on what He loves, and knows it as Himself. And thus does He rejoice at what He sees, because He knows that it is one with Him and with His Father.

The Christ in you looks only on the truth, and sees no condemnation that could need forgiveness. He is at peace because He sees no sin. Identify with Him, and what has He that you have not? He is your eyes, your ears, your hands, your feet. How gentle are the sights He sees, the sounds He hears. How beautiful His hand that holds His brother’s, and how lovingly He walks beside him, showing him what can be seen and heard, and where he will see nothing and there is no sound to hear.

The Christ in you is very still. He knows where you are going, and He leads you there in gentleness and blessing all the way. His Love for God replaces all the fear you thought you saw within yourself.

His perfect lack of specialness He offers you, that you may save all living things from death, receiving from each one the gift of life that your forgiveness offers to your Self. The sight of Christ is all there is to see. The song of Christ is all there is to hear. The hand of Christ is all there is to hold. There is no journey but to walk with Him. Christ’s vision sees only innocence. But the ego’s judgment and condemnation block the vision of innocence from our awareness. If we want to experience the peace Christ’s vision offers us, we have to give up our judgments; we have to forgive.

Fortunately, we do not have to figure out how to justify forgiveness on our own. The Voice for God will guide us and His strength supports us to learn that forgiveness is always justified in truth. We need only recognize the false foundation upon which judgment rests and we will naturally let it go.

Today we gratefully take Christ’s hand to walk with Him and let Him show us the innocence that He sees everywhere. For we would join Him in peace.

Remembering Our Unity with God

God’s Name is holy, but no holier than yours. To call upon His Name is but to call upon your own. A father gives his son his name, and thus identifies the son with him. His brothers share his name, and thus are they united in a bond to which they turn for their identity. Your Father’s Name reminds you who you are, even within a world that does not know; even though you have not remembered it.

God’s Name can not be heard without response, nor said without an echo in the mind that calls you to remember. Say His Name, and you invite the angels to surround the ground on which you stand, and sing to you as they spread out their wings to keep you safe, and shelter you from every worldly [separation] thought that would intrude upon your holiness [oneness].”

All little things are silent. Little sounds are soundless now. The little things of earth have disappeared. The universe consists of nothing but the Son of God, who calls upon his Father. And his Father’s Voice gives answer in his Father’s holy Name. In this eternal, still relationship, in which communication far transcends all words, and yet exceeds in depth and height whatever words could possibly convey, is peace eternal. In our Father’s Name, we would experience this peace today. And in His Name, it shall be given us. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 183, W-pI.183.1-2;11. See also ACIM Lesson 183 Insights.)

What a beautiful and happy practice we have today to remember our true Identity as God’s perfect Love… As we practice this consistently through the day, we are able to feel God’s peace… God’s all inclusiveness… the perfect Love of God That everyone is in truth…

Worry thoughts disappear. It is easier to discern between the real and the unreal. We are able to feel God’s strength… God’s Love… God’s joy… and extend it to the world…

Because we are one with God, this remembering is very powerful. We connect with every brother at this holy level of truth. We are so grateful to practice this all through the day.

How Our Holiness Heals the World

Your holiness reverses all the laws of the world. It is beyond every restriction of time, space, distance and limits of any kind. Your holiness is totally unlimited in its power because it establishes you as a Son of God, at one with the Mind of his Creator.

Through your holiness the power of God is made manifest. Through your holiness the power of God is made available. And there is nothing the power of God cannot do. Your holiness, then, can remove all pain, can end all sorrow, and can solve all problems. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 38, W-pI.38.1:1-2:4. See also ACIM Lesson 38 Insights.)

The laws of the world are the laws of separation. Our holiness comes from our oneness with our Creator, the Source of holiness. Our holiness is independent and unaffected by the worlds laws of separation because separation and oneness cannot coexist. Our belief in the world denies our holiness but does not affect it at all. It only makes us unaware of our holiness.

We reverse the laws of the world as we let go of believing we are separate from each other and our Source. Holiness cannot conceive of pain, sorrow or any problem. Being one and united with God, our holiness is changeless. The way to undo our perceptions of pain and sorrow, conflict and loss is to accept the truth of what we are — our wholeness with the Mind of God. This is how the laws of the world are reversed.

The Holy Spirit is present in our minds to teach us of our holiness, our oneness with God. As we are willing to learn His loving lessons, the appearance of problems in the world fade, for they are increasingly recognized as nothing but illusions. This is how our holiness heals the world.

Recognizing Our Best Friend Forever

Truth does not come and go nor shift nor change, in this appearance now and then in that, evading capture and escaping grasp. It does not hide. It stands in open light, in obvious accessibility. It is impossible that anyone could seek it truly, and would not succeed. Today belongs to truth. Give truth its due, and it will give you yours. You were not meant to suffer and to die. Your Father wills these dreams be gone. Let truth correct them all.

Truth will correct all errors in your mind which tell you you could be apart from Him. You speak to Him today, and make your pledge to let His function be fulfilled through you. To share His function is to share His joy. His confidence is with you, as you say:

Truth will correct all errors in my mind,
And I will rest in Him Who is my Self.

Then let Him lead you gently to the truth, which will envelop you and give you peace so deep and tranquil that you will return to the familiar world reluctantly.

And yet you will be glad to look again upon this world. For you will bring with you the promise of the changes which the truth that goes with you will carry to the world. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 107, W-pI.107.6;9:1-10:2. See also ACIM Lesson 107 Insights.)

Truth is always present in our minds. It doesn’t seem to be there because we believe in the ego’s lie that tells us separation is real. The illusion of separation draws a veil that hides the truth from our awareness. But truth is still there. We cannot banish truth from our minds because it is What we are.

We can sweep away the cobwebs of illusion by letting truth correct our mistaken minds. Truth waits on welcome. As we welcome it, its Light dispels the darkness of illusions. We welcome the truth by asking it in just as we welcome a friend at the door by inviting him in.

Truth is our best Friend forever. This BFF will show us that everyone we look upon or think about is our BFF. As we let truth correct all errors in our minds, we see everyone as our Friend, for we see past the veil of forms to the Light of truth in them and know it as our own. A world of best friends is a world of joy. We choose to accept truth today.
