Remembering to See with Forgiving Eyes

The grace of God rests gently on forgiving eyes, and everything they look on speaks of Him to the beholder. He can see no evil; nothing in the world to fear, and no one who is different from himself. And as he loves them, so he looks upon himself with love and gentleness. He would no more condemn himself for his mistakes than damn another. He is not an arbiter of vengeance, nor a punisher of sin. The kindness of his sight rests on himself with all the tenderness it offers others. For he would only heal and only bless. And being in accord with what God wills, he has the power to heal and bless all those he looks on with the grace of God upon his sight. (A Course in Miracles, T-25.VI.1. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Today we choose to be in accord with what God wills. Today we choose to see through the Light that God’s grace brings to our sight. Today we choose to see innocence instead of guilt, peace instead of conflict, strength instead of vulnerability. Today we choose to see past images of separate bodies to the one universal Love that is always there to see. Today we choose to see with God instead of through the ego’s sight.

Making Room for Truth in Our Minds

Truth will correct all errors in my mind. I am mistaken when I think I can be hurt in any way. I am God’s Son, whose Self rests safely in the Mind of God.

I will forgive all things today, that I may learn how to accept the truth in me, and come to recognize my sinlessness. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 119, W-pI.119.1:1-3;2:2. See also ACIM Lesson 119 Insights.)

If we see anyone as vulnerable to harm, we also see ourselves as vulnerable. It is impossible to perceive guilt or vulnerability in others without believing we are vulnerable and guilty. Likewise, as we are able to see innocence in others with the Holy Spirit’s help, we learn of our own innocence. That is why forgiveness is the key to our happiness and release from fear.

Forgiveness opens the way for truth to enter our minds. Our practice today is to make room for truth.

Accepting Heaven’s Help

Everyone here has entered darkness, yet no one has entered it alone. Nor need he stay more than an instant. For he has come with Heaven’s Help within him, ready to lead him out of darkness into light at any time. The time he chooses can be any time, for help is there, awaiting but his choice. And when he chooses to avail himself of what is given him, then will he see each situation that he thought before was means to justify his anger turned to an event which justifies his love. He will hear plainly that the calls to war he heard before are really calls to peace. He will perceive that where he gave attack is but another altar where he can, with equal ease and far more happiness, bestow forgiveness. And he will reinterpret all temptation as just another chance to bring him joy. (A Course in Miracles, T-25.III.6. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Today we choose to accept What is given us. We have Holy Spirit’s Help every moment if we choose to open our minds to welcome and accept it. By remembering that we know nothing on our own, we are open to receiving Holy Spirit’s peace and gentleness. We open to the kind-hearted beingness that comes from the Holy Spirit. We let our minds live in Holy Spirit’s state of peace and happiness, where we see safety and innocence everywhere.

The Holy Spirit lifts the veil of the ego’s wish for conflict and guilt. With His help, we see past the veil to ever-present Love. We see innocence everywhere. This is our practice for today.

We Return to Truth with Holy Spirit

I take the journey with you. For I share your doubts and fears a little while, that you may come to me who recognize the road by which all fears and doubts are overcome. We walk together. I must understand uncertainty and pain, although I know they have no meaning. Yet a savior must remain with those he teaches, seeing what they see, but still retaining in his mind the way that led him out, and now will lead you out with him. The Holy Spirit retains the memory that we never left Heaven and still remain one in God’s perfect Love. The Holy Spirit is our Guide and Companion on the journey out of the dream of separation.

We have had enough of the ego’s painful lessons and are now willing to let our fearful thoughts be replaced by the loving guidance of the Holy Spirit. We take this moment now to welcome Holy Spirit’s healed perception… We practice throughout the day pausing to receive Holy Spirit’s guidance, remembering we know nothing on our own… We join with the Holy Spirit to return to truth today.

We Want Enlightenment

When a mind has only light, it knows only light. Its own radiance shines all around it, and extends out into the darkness of other minds, transforming them into majesty. (A Course in Miracles, T-7.XI.5:1-2. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

As we accept enlightenment, we are brought to the truth. The truth is we are eternal Spirit, at one with every brother and with God. It is through accepting the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that we receive enlightenment. As we are willing to let our minds quiet of all the ego chatter and let go of the past, a pathway is opened to enlightenment.

We want the truth to enter our minds and as we sincerely want it, it will come to us. This is our constant practice today and every day.

The Gifts Forgiveness Brings

Realize that your forgiveness entitles you to vision. Understand that the Holy Spirit never fails to give the gift of sight to the forgiving. Believe He will not fail you now. You have forgiven the world. He will be with you as you watch and wait. He will show you what true vision sees. It is His Will, and you have joined with Him. Wait patiently for Him. He will be there. The light has come. You have forgiven the world.

Give thanks for mercy and the Love of God. Rejoice in the power of forgiveness to heal your sight completely. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 75, W-pI.75.7,9:3-4. See also ACIM Lesson 75 Insights.)

Today we want to see as Holy Spirit sees. We want to feel the peace true vision brings. We accept Holy Spirit’s gift of grace as we are able to see the innocence and Love in every brother. We feel an inner contentment and sense of safety as we join with the Holy Spirit’s goal of seeing past our thoughts of separation to the truth of Love’s Oneness. All this forgiveness brings and we are filled with gratitude that this is so.

The Journey to God

The journey to God is merely the reawakening of the knowledge of where you are always, and what you are forever. It is a journey without distance to a goal that has never changed. Truth can only be experienced. It cannot be described and it cannot be explained. I can make you aware of the conditions of truth, but the experience is of God. Together we can meet its conditions, but truth will dawn upon you of itself. (A Course in Miracles, T-8.VI.9:6-11. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The journey to God is simply the process of removing the barriers to the awareness of Love’s presence. Love is eternal, changeless and ever present. Our denial of Love’s presence makes us unaware of It, but has no effect whatsoever on Reality.

Judgment, or unforgiveness, is the mechanism for denying Love’s presence. Thus forgiveness, or letting go of judgment, is how we reawaken to ever present Love. We have taught ourselves well to deny Love. Because of this, we need a Teacher Who remembers the truth for us to help us unlearn the lessons of denial. This is a journey of forgiveness that will let the truth of changeless Love dawn upon our minds.
