God goes with me wherever I go. How can I be alone when God always goes with me? How can I be doubtful and unsure of myself when perfect certainty abides in Him? How can I be disturbed by anything when He rests in me in absolute peace? How can I suffer when love and joy surround me through Him? Let me not cherish illusions about myself. I am perfect because God goes with me wherever I go.
God is my strength. Vision is His gift. Let me not look to my own eyes to see today. Let me be willing to exchange my pitiful illusion of seeing for the vision that is given by God. Christ’s vision is His gift, and He has given it to me. Let me call upon this gift today, so that this day may help me to understand eternity. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 59, W-pI.59.1-2. See also ACIM Lesson 59 Insights.)
God is our constant Companion. There is nowhere that God is absent. His eternal Presence surrounds us with His joy and peace and Love. The perfection of the Self we are is guaranteed, for we are held in His sure protection. Nothing can change or harm What God created perfect.
The image the ego made of a weak and isolated self is a defense against the truth of What we are. While we identify with the ego-made self, we are unaware of the strength of God in us. The illusion of seeing with the body’s eyes cannot see the one Self we are.
But God has given us Christ’s vision in our mind which overlooks the ego-made images, seeing only the ever-present Love that is our Self. Today we dedicate to bringing the perceptions that disturb our peace to Christ’s vision to learn the truth of what we are.

Today we learn a lesson which can save you more delay and needless misery than you can possibly imagine. It is this:
You make what you defend against, and by your own
defense against it is it real [to you] and inescapable. Lay down
your arms, and only then do you perceive it false. Now do your eyes belong to Christ, and He looks through them. Now your voice belongs to God and echoes His. And now your heart remains at peace forever. You have chosen Him in place of idols, and your attributes [of Love], given by your Creator, are restored to you at last. The Call for God is heard and answered. Now has fear made way for love, as God Himself replaces cruelty.
Father, we are like You. No cruelty abides in us, for there is none in You. Your peace is ours. And we bless the world with what we have received from You alone. We choose again, and make our choice for all our brothers, knowing they are one with us. We bring them Your salvation as we have received it now. And we give thanks for them who render us complete. In them we see Your glory, and in them we find our peace. Holy are we because Your Holiness has set us free. And we give thanks. Amen. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 170, W-pI.170.2:4-7;12-13. See also ACIM Lesson 170 Insights.)
Whatever we believe can harm our identity or change it in any way is perceived as a threat to be defended against. Yet God created us like Himself, giving us all of His attributes, which never change. The truth in us shares God’s invulnerability and does not need to be defended.
It is only our belief in a false image of our identity that makes us feel weak and vulnerable to loss. The way to “defend” against this perceived threat is to let go of the belief in a false self-image that is vulnerable and weak. Defense only reinforces our belief in vulnerability.
The Course’s focus on the importance of forgiveness is because forgiveness is the way we let go of the false belief in separation and weakness. As we let go of the false belief, our true Self comes forward naturally. We remember that we remain as God created us. We are united with God’s changeless Love, joy and peace.
Today we choose to bring every thought that disturbs our peace to the Holy Spirit, with willingness to receive His vision in place of our perception. With this practice, we bring peace to every mind.

Why would you not be overjoyed to be assured that all the evil that you think you did was never done, that all your sins are nothing, that you are as pure and holy as you were created, and that light and joy and peace abide in you? Your image of yourself cannot withstand the Will of God. You think that this is death, but it is life. You think you are destroyed, but you are saved.
The self you made is not the Son of God. Therefore, this self does not exist at all. And anything it seems to do and think means nothing. It is neither bad nor good. It is unreal, and nothing more than that.
Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. Over and over this must be repeated, until it is accepted. It is true. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. Nothing can touch it, or change what God created as eternal. The self you made, evil and full of sin, is meaningless. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God, and light and joy and peace abide in you.
If a situation arises that seems to be disturbing, quickly dispel the illusion of fear by repeating these thoughts again. Should you be tempted to become angry with someone, tell him silently:
Light and joy and peace abide in you.
Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 93, W-pI.93.4:1-5:5;6;11:1-4)
God is perfect Love and nothing else. What God creates must be the same, an extension of Himself — Love and nothing else. We are all, collectively, God’s Creation, His one Son — Love and nothing else. This is God’s guarantee that the truth of what we are is innocence.
It does not seem that we are innocent because we have taught ourselves to believe that we are a self in opposition to God’s Will. This could only seem to be true in a dream that denies Love. But a dream is not real. When we wake up from a dream we realize that what seemed to happen in the dream did not occur at all.
As we remind ourselves that our sinlessness is guaranteed by God, and light and joy and peace abide in us, we teach ourselves that we are not the image of a self that we thought we were in the dream. We open our mind to accept that God’s Will is our will. We really do want to be the Love He created us to be. The light and joy and peace of Love are in us now.

The Christ in you is very still. He looks on what He loves, and knows it as Himself. And thus does He rejoice at what He sees, because He knows that it is one with Him and with His Father. Specialness, too, takes joy in what it sees, although it is not true. Yet what you seek for is a source of joy as you conceive it. What you wish is true for you. Nor is it possible that you can wish for something and lack faith that it is so. Wishing makes real, as surely as does will create. The power of a wish upholds illusions as strongly as does love extend itself. Except that one deludes; the other heals.”
“Where could your peace arise but from forgiveness? The Christ in you looks only on the truth, and sees no condemnation that could need forgiveness. He is at peace because He sees no sin. Identify with Him, and what has He that you have not? [Christ] is your eyes, your ears, your hands, your feet. How gentle are the sights He sees, the sounds He hears. How beautiful His hand that holds His brother’s, and how lovingly He walks beside him, showing him what can be seen and heard, and where he will see nothing and there is no sound to hear.” (A Course in Miracles, T-24.V.1;3. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)
Our true Self is the Christ. This one Self is shared with everyone. No matter how much we dream of specialness, separation and differences, our one true Self remains unchanged, as God created It. No matter what seems to happen in dreams of specialness, our true Self remains united with (holds the hand of) the Christ in every brother. This cannot change, for this is what God created as united with Himself. And God does not change.
Forgiveness is how we let go of illusions of specialness and separation. As we let these go, Christ’s vision replaces the mistaken images. With Christ’s vision, we see the innocence of our brothers and our Self. The choice to accept Christ’s vision is the choice for peace and happiness. It turns away from images of differences, separation and guilt and looks to the Light of Love that is everywhere to be seen. Forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves and every brother.

Child of peace, the light has come to you. The light you bring you do not recognize, and yet you will remember. Who can deny himself the vision that he brings to others? And who would fail to recognize a gift he let be laid in Heaven through himself? The gentle service that you give the Holy Spirit is service to yourself. You who are now His means must love all that He loves. And what you bring is your remembrance of everything that is eternal. No trace of anything in time can long remain in a mind that serves the timeless. And no illusion can disturb the peace of a relationship that has become the means of peace.
What can it be but universal blessing to look on what your Father loves with charity? Extension of forgiveness is the Holy Spirit’s function. Leave this to Him. Let your concern be only that you give to Him that which can be extended. Save no dark secrets that He cannot use, but offer Him the tiny gifts He can extend forever. He will take each one and make of it a potent force for peace. He will withhold no blessing from it, nor limit it in any way. He will join to it all the power that God has given Him, to make each little gift of love a source of healing for everyone. Each little gift you offer to your brother lights up the world. Be not concerned with darkness; look away from it and toward your brother. And let the darkness be dispelled by Him Who knows the light, and lays it gently in each quiet smile of faith and confidence with which you bless your brother. (A Course in Miracles, T-22.VI.6;9. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)
When we dedicate a relationship to the practice of forgiveness, it becomes a holy relationship. Each time we offer a perception that disturbs our peace to the Holy Spirit with willingness for Him to let His Light shine away the dark thoughts of fear and guilt, we bring a gift to the world. As we forgive our brother with the Holy Spirit’s help, we let Love replace fear. We learn that what we thought our brother did to offend us did not really occur. It was based on the mistaken belief that separation is real.
The Holy Spirit’s Light unifies. The ego’s denial of Light divides. We serve the Holy Spirit with the practice of forgiveness. Each gift of forgiveness makes way for Love to enter and shine away the darkness. We bring salvation to the world with each gift of forgiveness. The Holy Spirit extends this gift, bringing the Light of Love to all who would receive it.
We dedicate today to doing our part by letting Holy Spirit help us forgive. It will be a day of blessing and being blessed.

The holy instant is the Holy Spirit’s most useful learning device for teaching you love’s meaning. For its purpose is to suspend judgment entirely. Judgment always rests on the past, for past experience is the basis on which you judge.
The past is the ego’s chief learning device, for it is in the past that you learned to define your own needs and acquired methods for meeting them on your own terms. We have said that to limit love to part of the Sonship is to bring guilt into your relationships, and thus make them unreal. If you seek to separate out certain aspects of the totality and look to them to meet your imagined needs, you are attempting to use separation to save you. How, then, could guilt not enter? For separation is the source of guilt, and to appeal to it for salvation is to believe you are alone. To be alone is to be guilty. For to experience yourself as alone is to deny the Oneness of the Father and His Son, and thus to attack reality.
In His function as Interpreter of what you made, the Holy Spirit uses special relationships, which you have chosen to support the ego, as learning experiences that point to truth. Under His teaching, every relationship becomes a lesson in love. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.V.1:1-3;2;4:5-6.. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)
The holy instant is a moment in time when we have laid aside our memories of the past. We see the present without meaning, free of projections based on the past. This frees us to let the Holy Spirit replace our projections with His interpretation which will point us to truth.
Each time we are able to set aside our past for a moment becomes a lesson in seeing the true Self in another or ourselves. We join, at least momentarily, with the one Self God created as His Son. We join in the oneness of Love. Though we may return to thinking with ego, the memory of that holy instant remains with us to lead us to awakening to the fact that only Love is real.

The Holy Spirit’s purpose rests in peace within you. Yet you are still unwilling to let it join you wholly. You still oppose the Will of God, just by a little. And that little is a limit you would place upon the whole.… This little wall would hide the purpose of Heaven, and [what you would keep behind the wall] from Heaven.
To overcome the world is no more difficult than to surmount your little wall. For in the miracle of your holy relationship, without this barrier, is every miracle contained. There is no order of difficulty in miracles, for they are all the same. Each is a gentle winning over from the appeal of guilt to the appeal of love.… [The appeal of guilt] can raise no real barriers against it. And all that seems to stand between you and your brother must fall away because of the appeal [of Love] you answered.
Every miracle is but the end of an illusion. Such was the journey; such its ending. And in the goal of truth which you accepted must all illusions end. (A Course in Miracles, T-19.IV.A.3:1-4,8;5:1-4,6-7;6:8-10. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)
The holy relationship is a relationship dedicated to letting go of guilt. This dedication comes from willingness to let go of guilt and welcome joining in the oneness of Love. The ego always seeks guilt because it makes separation seem real. Guilt maintains the ego in our mind. It maintains the wall behind which the ego’s world of illusions is built.
On the other side of this imagined barrier is the peace of God and the certainty of changeless Love. Because this wall is built on guilt, it is undone by forgiveness. Each illusion of guilt taken to the Holy Spirit and seen with His vision is the miracle of Love. Guilt fades away and the joy of joining in Love replaces it. This is our purpose and our journey in the holy relationship.
