Teaching Truth By Demonstration

The world is an illusion. Those who choose to come to it are seeking for a place where they can be illusions, and avoid their own reality. Yet when they find their own reality is even here, then they step back and let it lead the way. …To let illusion sink behind the truth and let the truth stand forth as what it is, is merely sanity.

This is the simple choice we make today. The mad illusion will remain awhile in evidence, for those to look upon who chose to come, and have not yet rejoiced to find they were mistaken in their choice. They cannot learn directly from the truth, because they have denied that it is so. And so they need a Teacher Who perceives their madness, but Who still can look beyond illusion to the simple truth in them.

Step back in faith and let truth lead the way. You know not where you go. But One Who knows goes with you. Let Him lead you with the rest. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 155, W-pI.155.2:1-3,6;3;10:3-6. See also ACIM Lesson 155 Insights.)

In the world it seems that we are vulnerable to myriad forms of threats to our well being. We spend our days building defenses to protect our little domains and seeking for love to fill the perceived lack of love. Yet this is all illusion, for we remain Love as Love created us, safe and whole.

We need help from One Who sees what we perceive but does not believe in the illusion of isolation and vulnerability in the world. This is our inner Teacher Who goes with us, always ready to help us see the truth beyond the illusion. As we learn to accept the Truth as true, the illusion fades and Truth lights our way. As we practice following the way of Truth — the way of Love — we demonstrate that we can free ourselves from the hell of belief in separation. We teach by our demonstration and bring our brothers with us as we step back and let Truth lead the way.

Letting Ourselves Be Healed

Healing, forgiveness, and the [exchange of joy for sadness], are the means by which the Holy Spirit urges you to follow Him. His gentle lessons teach how easily salvation can be yours; how little practice you need undertake to let His laws replace the ones you made to hold yourself a prisoner to death. [Holy Spirit’s] life becomes your own, as you extend the little help He asks in freeing you from everything that ever caused you pain.

And as you let yourself be healed, you see all those around you, or who cross your mind, or whom you touch or those who seem to have no contact with you, healed along with you. Perhaps you will not recognize them all, nor realize how great your offering to all the world, when you let healing come to you. But you are never healed alone. And legions upon legions will receive the gift that you receive when you are healed.

When I am healed I am not healed alone.
And I would bless my brothers, for I would

To let ourselves be healed we only need to stop defending against healing. Identifying with the ego thought system and the body is a defense against healing. Healing cannot come from the thought system of separation, which is the source of a sick mind and body.

Healing comes from the Holy Spirit, the part of our mind that knows the truth and does not believe in separation. The practice of choosing the Holy Spirit as our Guide moment by moment welcomes His kind lessons in truth. It is the acceptance of truth in our mind that brings healing to the world.

Today we dedicate to the practice of letting Holy Spirit guide all our perceptions. With His help we will see past our old judgments. We will see past the illusionary images that seem to threaten us. We will see past the shadows of the ego to the Light of Love in everyone and in everything.

Accepting Our One Self Brings Peace to the World

You are as God created you. Today honor your Self. Let graven images you made to be the Son of God instead of what he is be worshipped not today. Deep in your mind the holy Christ in you is waiting your acknowledgment as you. And you are lost and do not know yourself while He is unacknowledged and unknown.

Seek Him today, and find Him. He will be your Savior from all idols you have made. For when you find Him, you will understand how worthless are your idols, and how false the images which you believed were you. Today we make a great advance to truth by letting idols go, and opening our hands and hearts and minds to God today.

We will remember Him throughout the day with thankful hearts and loving thoughts for all who meet with us today. For it is thus that we remember Him.

Christ is always in us, for He is our one Self, the Son Who God created. It doesn’t seem that Christ is Who we are or that He is even in us. This is because we believe in a false image of what we are. We need to learn that we are not the ego and that we are not the false image the ego made as a substitute identity to overshadow the Son of God.

We have a Teacher in our minds ready to help us recognize the unreality and falsity of the image we believe we are. As we welcome the Holy Spirit’s vision in our minds, He will help us look past the shadows of the ego to the Light of Christ that is everywhere to behold. As we share His vision, we bring healing and salvation to the world. We bring peace to the world. This is the function God would have us fill and He has given us everything we need to fulfill it. We need only accept the help.

Today we dedicate to accepting the Holy Spirit’s help that we may see the truth beyond illusions.

We Are Never Alone

Be in my mind, my Father, when I wake, and shine on me throughout the day today. Let every minute be a time in which I dwell with You. And let me not forget my hourly thanksgiving that You have remained with me, and always will be there to hear my call to You and answer me. As evening comes, let all my thoughts be still of You and of Your Love. And let me sleep sure of my safety, certain of Your care, and happily aware I am Your Son.

This is as every day should be. Today, practice the end of fear. Have faith in Him Who is your Father. Trust all things to Him. Let Him reveal all things to you, and be you undismayed because you are His Son. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 232, W-pII.232. See also ACIM Lesson 232 Insights.)

The ego is the wish to be alone, isolated and separate from everyone and everything. It is the wish to have a domain it can call its own. It must protect this domain from intrusions from all directions. This private domain could never be real but the choice to believe in it makes it seem real.

We can never be alone, for God is always with us. We may try to hide from Him out of our guilt and shame, yet God sees us as wholly innocent, united with Himself. No matter how deeply we fall into despair or fear, we can always call on Him. He will answer with His Love and strength.

Let us remember God is with us today, as He is every day. Let us trust in His strong support, His guidance in the way of Love and His certainty that we are His one Son. Let us remember we are never alone.

Being God’s Messengers of Love

If you will lay aside the ego’s voice, however loudly it may seem to call; if you will not accept its petty gifts that give you nothing that you really want; if you will listen with an open mind, that has not told you what salvation is; then you will hear the mighty Voice of truth, quiet in power, strong in stillness, and completely certain in Its messages.

Be not afraid today to circumvent the voices of the world. Walk lightly past their meaningless persuasion. Hear them not. Be still today and listen to the truth.

Be ready for salvation. It is here, and will today be given unto you. And you will learn your function from the One Who chose it in your Father’s Name for you. Listen today, and you will hear a Voice which will resound throughout the world through you. The bringer of all miracles has need that you receive them first, and thus become the joyous giver of what you received.

Let me be still and listen to the truth.
I am the messenger of God today,

Only fulfilling our function here will bring us happiness. Our function is given us by God — to give the gifts He has given us — all His Love, all His joy, all His peace. We cannot try to keep any of God’s gifts for ourselves alone, for this only makes God’s gifts unknown to us. Inherent in God’s gifts is that they are shared equally with all.

As we let our minds be still and hear God’s Voice, we receive God’s gifts to share. It is in our sharing of these gifts that we claim them as our own on behalf of all our brothers. For what is ours belongs to all. Let us today be God’s messengers by offering God’s Love, peace and joy to all.

Healing Division

Today we will attempt to see God’s Son. We will not let ourselves be blind to him; we will not look upon our grievances.

Then let us ask of Him Who knows this Son of God in his reality and truth, that we may look on him a different way, and see our savior shining in the light of true forgiveness, given unto us. We ask Him…

Let me behold my savior in this one You have appointed as
the one for me to ask to lead me to the holy light in which he
stands, that I may join with him.

God thanks you for these quiet times today in which you laid your images aside, and looked upon the miracle of love the Holy Spirit showed you in their place.

We will remember this throughout the day, and take the role assigned to us as part of God’s salvation plan, and not our own. Temptation falls away when we allow each one we meet to save us, and refuse to hide his light behind our grievances. To everyone you meet, and to the ones you think of or remember from the past, allow the role of savior to be given, that you may share it with him. For you both, and all the sightless ones as well, we pray:

We cannot hold a grievance unless we see the object of our grievance as separate from us. Grievances maintain the great divide that the ego would have us believe is real. Yet what God creates is one and cannot be divided into separate little pieces which conflict with each other. There is no conflict in oneness.

If we would know the truth of What we are, we must see our brother truly. We cannot see him as a body separate from us and see the truth of the Love he is. We dedicate today to choosing the Holy Spirit’s vision in our minds to help us see past all grievances to the Light of Love that is everywhere. As we see the Love in our brother, we bring healing to the great divide. We bring salvation to the world.

Our Self-Made Dreams Are Calls for Love

[Dreams’] equal lack of truth becomes the basis for the miracle, which means that you have understood that dreams are dreams; and that escape depends, not on the dream, but only on awaking.

How happy would your dreams become if you were not the one who gave the “proper” role to every figure which the dream contains. No one can fail but your idea of him, and there is no betrayal but of this. The core of dreams the Holy Spirit gives is never one of fear. The coverings may not appear to change, but what they mean has changed because they cover something else. Perceptions are determined by their purpose, in that they seem to be what they are for. A shadow figure who attacks becomes a brother giving you a chance to help, if this becomes the function of the dream. And dreams of sadness thus are turned to joy.

What is your brother for? You do not know, because your function is obscure to you. Do not ascribe a role to him that you imagine would bring happiness to you. And do not try to hurt him when he fails to take the part that you assigned to him, in what you dream your life was meant to be. He asks for help in every dream he has, and you have help to give him if you see the function of the dream as [Holy Spirit] perceives its function, Who can utilize all dreams as means to serve the function given Him. Because He loves the dreamer, not the dream, each dream becomes an offering of love. For at its center is His Love for you, which lights whatever form it takes with love. The ego’s purpose for every dream is to make lack of Love seem real. While we accept the ego’s purpose, we will see every figure, every event and every circumstance as an image of lovelessness which we must defend against. Even the ego’s “pleasant” dreams are tenuous and can be easily lost. Lasting happiness is impossible in dreams that serve the ego’s purpose.

If we align with the Holy Spirit and allow the Holy Spirit to assign His purpose to our dreams, they become opportunities to extend and join in Love. The Holy Spirit knows only Love and therefore sees every dream as an opportunity to offer Love. The images we perceive may be the same, but their purpose now is always to be truly helpful.

Think of the joy that would fill our heart if we responded in each moment with helpfulness and kindness. Think of the healing we could bring to the world if we responded to appearances of attack with recognition of a call for help. Our natural response would always be to offer loving help. Our dreams become dreams that lead to waking, for they lead to remembering that only Love is real.
