Walking with Our Brothers in Peace

Salvation can be seen as nothing more than the escape from concepts.

You will make many concepts of the self as learning goes along. Each one will show the changes in your own relationships, as your perception of yourself is changed. There will be some confusion every time there is a shift, but be you thankful that the learning of the world is loosening its grasp upon your mind. And be you sure and happy in the confidence that it will go at last, and leave your mind at peace. The role of the accuser will appear in many places and in many forms. And each will seem to be accusing you. Yet have no fear it will not be undone.

There will come a time when images have all gone by, and you will see you know not what you are. It is to this unsealed and open mind that truth returns, unhindered and unbound. …There is no statement that the world is more afraid to hear than this:

I do not know the thing I am, and therefore do not know what I am doing, where I am, or how to look upon the world or on myself. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.V.14:3;16;17:2-3,6-7. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

The beginning of the Workbook Lessons introduce the idea that we do not know what anything means. The full acceptance of this idea will release us to the Heaven of God’s Love forever. Yet we resist accepting this idea. It seems to threaten our very existence because we believe we are a false identity in an imaginary world.

The ego surrounds us with myriad images portraying differences and separation to deceive us into believing that our unique identity as a separate body is real. If we accept the idea that we do not know what anything means, it would seem to leave us without an identity. If we are not a body, what are we? If we are not our status, our beliefs, our social group or our family heritage, if none of these mean anything, what are we?

In fact, our true Identity as one in God’s Love is unchanged by the ego’s denial and projection of false images. We are still God’s Son. We are still Love and nothing else. We are still innocent, whole and complete in God’s Love. It is this reality that will be revealed when we accept, without reservation, that of our limited self-identity does not know what anything means.

To reach this full acceptance we ask the Holy Spirit to be our Interpreter of everything we perceive in the world. He will teach us to see the world differently. With His lessons, the veil of the ego’s denial fades and the truth of our Identity in Love grows stronger. We increasingly see the Love in every brother beyond his image as a body. We walk with him in Love and peace more and more. This is our practice today.
